First of all -- this place is gorgeous! The food was delicious and service was attentive. 5 stars for Victor. He really took care of us. I had the Tacos de Papas Con Carnitas. Victor said they were delicious and he was not wrong! My husband had the combo plate with mole flautas, pastor sopes and enchiladas verde. He loved it! The table also got a Mar y Tierra, which was also very good! Would definitely come back here again!

I really wanted to like this restaurant because the food was honestly very good. We visited for the first time during the week and, while the food was great, the service was disappointing. Our server never made eye contact and spent the entire interaction looking down at the device he was using to enter the order. Instead of greeting us or asking if we were ready to order, he simply said, "What do you want to order?" and "What do you want to drink?" in a way that felt rude and unwelcoming. To make matters worse, my horchata was served in a broken cup. The drink cost around $6, and the cup was cracked enough that it was leaking and spilling. When I politely asked if I could get a different cup because it was broken, the server looked irritated and acted annoyed that I even brought it up. I wasn't complaining about the drink itself I only asked because it was literally spilling due to the damaged cup. We decided to give the restaurant another chance and returned on Father's Day. Unfortunately, we had a similar experience with a different server. She was not friendly, seemed annoyed, and was not attentive to our table. We asked for lemon and never received it until we mentioned it to another employee at the front. Even after that, her attitude remained rude and unhelpful. It's disappointing because the food is genuinely good, but customer service is a big part of the dining experience. We gave the restaurant two chances and experienced poor service both times from different employees. Great food, but the customer service needs significant improvement.

THE FOOD HERE IS INCREDIBLE. I was taken back by how great this place is. After hearing some coworkers rave about this place, I decided to take my wife for dinner on a Friday night and they were PACKED!! Luckily the bar area wasn't busy so we got seated immediately there. Service here was great and our server was on it. The menu here is extensive with a great variety of items. My wife and I decided to share our meal and orders the camarones Zanendaeros and a combo plate with Enchiladas Verdes and a Chilli relleno and I kid you not our food was a 10/10. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THESE DISHES. Overall, we can't wait to come back and try more item off their menu. Great vibe, great food, decent prices what more could you want. Make sure to keep Rosa Madera in mind the next time your going out for dinner, you won't regret coming here. Till next time!

We have been back a couple times since my last review. I feel like the food has gotten better each time. The quesobirria tacos were delicious. Probably my new favorite thing on the menu. My husband had the potato tacos and really enjoyed them as well. Bar service is always great. Well margarita wasn't my husband's favored so he went back to the Catarino which he loves. Music started at 7. It can get loud but, it creates a fun vibe.

We stopped by Rosa Madera in Camarillo on a Sunday afternoon after a morning of shopping and decided to give it a try. I had actually been to this location years ago when it was a pub and later another Mexican restaurant, so I was already familiar with the space and thought it would be fun to see what they'd done with it. Right when we walked in, we were greeted by a really friendly hostess and seated immediately, which was a great start. The restaurant itself is beautiful, modern, colorful, and inviting without feeling overdone. They also had live mariachi music, which added a fun and lively energy to the atmosphere. Shortly after sitting down, our waiter came by for drinks and brought out duritos with hot sauce and lemon juice instead of the usual chips and salsa. If you've never had duritos before, they are those light, crunchy Mexican chips made from flour that puff up when fried. I honestly thought that was such a fun touch and a nice change from the standard setup you see everywhere else. For drinks, my partner ordered a beer and I tried the Hot Papacito cocktail, which I really enjoyed. It was flavorful, refreshing, and honestly one of my favorite parts of the meal. I ordered the asada nachos, and we also shared another entrée of sopes de asada and birria. Overall, the food was decent. Nothing bad at all, just not especially memorable. The rice was your pretty standard Mexican rice, totally fine, but nothing that really stood out. Honestly, most people compare restaurant rice to homemade family recipes anyway, so that's always a tough category to win. The refried beans were probably my least favorite part. The flavor itself was okay, but the texture was very thin and smooth, almost like a soup. I personally prefer refried beans with a little more thickness and texture. The biggest downside for us was the setup for the live mariachi music. The musicians were talented and entertaining, but some sections of the restaurant felt a little too small for the volume and size of the group. At times it was difficult to hear each other across the table. I think the experience would flow a little better if the mariachi setup was kept more toward the open side of the restaurant where the music could fill the space more naturally. Overall, Rosa Madera has a beautiful atmosphere, friendly staff, fun drinks, and a lively vibe. The food was okay, but the experience as a whole was enjoyable. I'd give it about 4 stars and would still recommend trying it at least once if you're in the area and looking for a fun spot with live music and cocktails.

This spot is definitely a 10/10! Tucked away in Camarillo CA, this gem of a restaurant is an amazing find. Let's start with the decor.. the interior is a mixture of rustic and new, with a heavy Mexican influence. Great spot for a date, family outing or hanging out with friends. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable - with great suggestions. The food... the food is heavenly. Like mana from mount Olympus. From the carne asada to the birria tacos and everything in between... this is one of my new favorite stops! Do yourself a favor amigo, and stop by here and try some of these delicious dishes.

Been waiting a long time to try this spot because of all the hype and reviews from friends -- and we finally made it! As expected, the line was HUGE and it was extremely crowded. I highly recommend making a reservation. We had a party of 8 and booked for 7pm. They did let us know over the phone that the entire party had to be present to be seated, which we completely understood. Everyone arrived by 6:45, we checked in around 6:40, and ended up being seated at about 7:30pm. It was super busy, so it was understandable. Once seated, they greeted us and brought out chicharrones with Valentina -- which I loved. We love a cultural restaurant moment They offer a lot of traditional Mexican dishes and a detailed drink menu with plenty of options. I ordered a cucumber and lemon agua fresca and it was delicious -- not too sweet, just perfectly balanced. For appetizers, we got the trio (chimichanga, tacos de tinga, and al pastor nachos) and that was a solid 10/10. So flavorful and definitely a great choice for the table. For my main dish, I ordered the molcajete. It was good, but not the best I've had. I think it needed a bit more seasoning and flavor. I'd rate it a 6/10 -- not bad, just not amazing. The only downside was our waitress. She didn't seem to be having the best day and came off a little irritated, especially with the size of our party and some of the questions we asked. It wasn't the most pleasant service experience, but we didn't let that ruin the night. Now let's talk ambiance -- 10/10. They had a live group singing old-school Mexican jams, which I absolutely loved because it brings back so many memories. The inside is beautiful with gorgeous murals all around. The vibe is definitely there. I would come back, maybe with a smaller group, and try different dishes to see if something else stands out more. Overall, I'd still recommend checking it out for yourself!

Rosa Madera has a beautiful ambience and seems always busy. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. They charge $14.00 for the guacamole, and it didn't taste fresh at all. My friend ordered a small side of sauces and was charged $2. ridiculous. The Enchiladas Verde with chicken was extremely tough and chewy. I ordered with all rice and the clay bowl it was served in had a huge chip on the rim. On a positive note, Camilla our waitress was terrific and very personable. I wish we could say the same about the food.

Food was amazing! The carnitas melt with asada fries upgrade is such a unique menu item. It didn't feel too heavy or fatty like it was cooked with a tub of grease. I appreciate that. Service was friendly and there were a couple of Birthday celebrations in the restaurant that night. The staff makes quite the deal with lights, sombrero and the whole shebang! Fun atmosphere The restaurant was very pretty and classy. Date night worthy for sure.

Love the decor with big murals, lots of color and flowers. Angel the bartender was friendly and made great margaritas. Shrimp were well cooked and tasty, but I did not care for the asada, as it was too chewy for me. Homemade tortillas were freshly prepared and yummy. This is a lively location for a birthday celebration.

My cousins wanted to celebrate their birthday here. We arrived at 11, and even though they were supposed to be open, they didn't open until about 10 minutes after. Once inside, we were able to sit anywhere we wanted. Unfortunately, some of the tables were not clean, and we had to ask them to clean them before we sat down. Needless to say, it started off rocky. Once our waiter arrived, he made up for all the mishaps. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful. I couldn't decide on which drink to order, but with his help, I decided to try "Amor Eterno," but instead of vodka, I asked for tequila. I enjoyed my drink; it was delicious. My sister and I shared a molcagete, which was a pretty large amount of food to share. The molcagete comes with rice, beans, and handmade tortillas. The food was delicious, and everyone was saying how much they enjoyed eating here. The restaurant is so beautiful; I love their decor. I especially loved their artificial trees with red roses on them. It's also a very large restaurant that can accommodate large groups. Overall, we had a great experience here and would go back.

excellent service 10/10 From the moment I walked in, I noticed the great ambience and lighting and beautiful portrait of the Virgin Mary. Food was delicious filled with flavors my server Zeyell made sure I felt welcome and gave me a lot of great recommendations, she was such a joy & made my experience 1000x better I ended up getting the enchiladas de mole and they were so good. The way the Host manages the wait list needs to be improved. I arrived at 3:10pm and checked in with hostess for a party of twelve (12). Given this restaurant does not take reservations and it was Mother's Day, I was told the wait was two plus hours, which we had no problem with. At the 3:12pm I received the confirmation text showing seven (7) parties ahead of us. Making a long story short, after two and half hours of waiting, I went back to the Host station and asked about our table. I was then told, there were eleven (11) parties ahead of us. The text I was sent showed only two (2) parties ahead of us. When I questioned the status of our wait time, I was told that the app wasn't correct. Upon further inquiry, we were seated within 10 minutes. Once we were seated, the service got better. I gave this a three rating because of our experience with the host, the food and drinks were really good. I understand, it was a busy day so I will be back. read more

We came to Rosa Madera to try the new restaurant in town. Our server, Camila and as fantastic. She was attentive and prompt. The food was very good. No one at our table had a bad meal and we all left stuffed. The ambiance of the restaurant was great, though the music was a little loud. I've been coming to Rosa Madera for the last 8 months or so now (mostly for the Taco Tuesdays!). I have to say that food, drinks and service are always on point! Servers Diego and Michael really stand out as they always provide such amazing service. Diego happened to be our server today and he always goes above and beyond! His positive attitude and attentiveness is one of the reasons I keep coming back. Would highly recommend Diego or Michael as your next server! Came in on week night, the restaurant is beautifully decorated, and there is plenty of room here if you want to do a large party or just come in for date night for two. We were sat right away and are server brought some crunchy spicy pinwheels, different but good, I of course ordered chips and salsa which I really enjoyed with a Cadillac margarita and our server Michael was very attentive and knowledgeable recommend the Rosa mojito which my friend really liked. Our server also recommended ceviche tropical which we ordered and then we decided on los favoritos both excellent appetizers. We decided to try one entree because we were getting full so we shared the verde enchiladas which were very tasty! Our server Michael recommended some desserts but we were so full but we will definitely come back and try some other entrees and maybe a desert or two. They give you little round things instead of chips. You have to pay for chips. I don't even know what the nachos were made of. The booth table is way too high. There was an issue and the manager acted like a jerk. I don't recommend. read more

The vibes, the food, the service! All so so good! I've had a wide range of dishes and drinks from here and have enjoyed every one. All the of the staff are helpful but Diego has been my favorite!! He is just so full of joy and energy while striving to provide the best service. They have Mariachi on Thursday evenings and I think on Sundays as well. Be prepared to wait somedays but they also have an online waitlist that you can join before you get there which has saved us sometime in the past. I'm glad there is finally a restaurant in that spot that seems to be here to stay! *fingers crossed* read more

Tried this place for the first time for a friend's birthday, and it was great! We went for happy hour and had drinks and appetizers. The nachos were fantastic and a generous portion for under $10. They serve "duros" instead of chips & salsa which is different from other Mexican restaurants. The only drawback is the seating is not standardized for the height of the tables. You are sitting super-low at the table and if you are short, this is uncomfortable. Overall, great ambiance and a Tulum vibe. read more

Amazing! With even a small crowd waiting, we didn't wait long at all. Its just wonderfully organized chaos...This place is top notch from walking in to leaving happily full. There is a lot going on that makes it such a great Friday hang out. While we listened to the live music, I enjoyed my jalapeño margarita, made to perfection. Michael and Sabina were super attentive and also very friendly, they brought out food out well before I finished my drink. The whole menu looks mouth watering but my red mole enchiladas were a home run.. then we enjoyed the cheesecake from Heaven....I can't say enough good things! This is exactly how I love to spend the evening after a long, hard work week. AND so so much better than my 1st time here, I'm happy to say. I can't wait to go back! read more

Service was alright. Food was okay but small portions. The Flautas were #2 that were each at most 2 inches long. Seriously?!? Those are called appetizers not an entree. Very pricey for amount of food served. Restaurant interior nice, but ladies room had overflowing trash can, and soap dispenser was broken so it hadn't been checked for a while. Live music was good but so loud it was challenging to carry on a conversation. read more

I was really disappointed with my experience at Rosa Madera. The customer service was rude and unwelcoming, which set a negative tone from the start. On top of that, both the food and drinks took an unusually long time to arrive, even though the restaurant wasn't especially busy. When everything finally came out, the wait didn't feel justified. Overall, the lack of professionalism and long delays made this an experience I wouldn't rush to repeat. There are too many great restaurants out there to spend time and money on one that doesn't value its customers...overly hyped. read more

Food was good but I was overcharged twice. I ordered a combination and was charged for two entrees and was charged for an additional drink I didn't order. I pointed it out and was credited but it was a hassle to fight for 40 of extra charges after a hard day. On top of that I ordered a carne asada enchilada and for chicken and didn't realize h til I got home and ate it so I couldn't get it replaced. read more

I just have to say this was the best experience ever! My mom and I went to this restaurant around the time that they first opened and we weren't really impressed with the service. The redo and revamp of the restaurant itself was gorgeous, but you can tell that they had a lot of new wait staff and although they definitely tried, the service was severely lacking, especially when my mom and I tried to initially send back our food and drink and we were met with a combative server who seemed very stressed and almost combative when we tried to explain the margaritas were extremely bitter and the food was cold. Fast-forward 2 1/2 months later We decided to give this place another try after my roommate went and raved about it and I'm so glad we did. My waitress Samantha was absolutely amazing and took her time with us and had the best personality ever. The manager also came over to check on my mom and I and he was so polite and listened to our feedback as we explained to him that This experience was a lot different than the last time we were here and we appreciate the upgrade and staff and the superior level of service that we received this time around. The food was also extremely good and at first my mom and I were very nervous to try this place again and we were ready to write it off, but after going here a second time, we definitely will be coming back, especially if we get the same level of service we received this last time. The food was five out of five and the drinks were 10 out of 10, all in all super glad we gave this place another shot and will be returning sometime soon. Ask for Samantha! I came into Rosa Madera expecting great food and a nice atmosphere -- and while both of those were definitely on point -- what absolutely made the night unforgettable was the bartender, Geo. From the second we sat down at the bar, Geo made us feel like VIPs. He's got that rare combo of being incredibly knowledgeable about spirits and cocktails and super down-to-earth. Whether you know exactly what you want or you're in the mood for something creative, Geo will nail it. I asked for something tequila-based and refreshing, and he came up with a custom cocktail that was hands-down one of the best drinks I've ever had. Not kidding -- it was THAT good. Beyond the drinks, Geo just sets the tone for the whole place. Since axolotl, it is 100% improvement in quality of food, service and ambience. They are a little weird and I would call it stingy when it comes to a military or first responder discount because they only discount one meal and not the entire total. So make sure you ask them because it sounds like there is a very stingy owner. The food is amazing and there was no problem with getting what we ordered. Rosa Madera is part of a small chain, I believe this is their fourth location? This place is really interesting. The food is great, the decor is very nice, bathrooms are clean and neat (always a good sign). The layout is similar to most of the new larger places these days, the bar is a front and center focal point when you walk in. When you first sit down rather than the usual chips and salsa they bring a very full basket of Chicharrones De Harina with a drizzle of hot sauce which is very much like a favorite of mine, Valentina. We really enjoyed the dishes we had. Between us one order was the Chili Rellenos, which came two to the order, with rice and beans. One of the best orders of cheese filled Rellenos I've had. Chilis were prepared perfectly, and the batter was very light just enough to completely cover the chilis, with a very light, yet flavorful sauce that allowed the rellenos to be the star of the show. The beans were fine, and the rice, I think, was the best I've had anywhere. I'm not a huge rice fan but I could have had another scoop, it was wonderful. The other dish we ordered were the enchiladas con mole. Again, terrific! The chicken was not in the least bit dry, the corn tortillas were soft and fresh and the mole was outstanding, a 10 out of 10 and I'm fussy about mole. Next time I'm ordering an extra side of the mole sauce. A person came by the table, I assume a manager, who checked on us and chatted briefly about the restaurant, our order, he also asked if we like some fresh homemade tortillas..... why yes I would! I was very surprised when instead of the usual corn they brought out house made flour tortillas, they did not disappoint at all. Had to be the best flour tortillas I've ever had. He also asked if I like to try some of their house made salsas... again, why yes please, two versions of salsa verde they too did not disappoint. At meal's end we both ordered their Cafe de olla which was perfectly balanced between the cinnamon and the traditional piloncillo brown sugar. It is a must in my opinion. I saw a couple orders of molcajete go by and that's going to be high on my list for my next visit, looks like it can easily serve two. Two issues to consider:One, go for an early weekday lunch if you can, my understanding is this place is jumping at dinner and especially on weekends. Two, I don't know what these people are thinking, with everything totally on point the tables and chairs are just silly. The tables are beautiful, pieces of wood some two inches thick, with no two seemed exactly alike... great... but they are on a wooden pedestal and ours was a bit wobbly. The tables are also a bit higher than most. In combination with the higher tables they have insanely low chairs! The table top came up just below my collarbone. I moved to the other chair at our table and it was a bit better, but still not really comfortable for me, plus the backs are further back so you're sort of sitting on a bench to eat. If you're 6 '2 " or more it will be better. It's OK, not a reason to avoid the place, but a phone book, especially the yellow pages from a big city LOL... kids ask your grandparents! In total, I'd give it more than five stars for our visit, odd seating and all. read more

This isn't Michelin star food people - just classic no frills Mexican food that seems to have kept them operating all this time, impressive if you ask me. My last pro tip is the margaritas are stellar. Huge fan of their mango marg and I'd come back for this alone. Just at $15 that's a little hefty for a hole in the wall spot like this. This has happened before when I have been a server and a manager is more than happy to offer you another dish and take off the other one. But Cheryl? The manager? Never came back. NOT once. Instead, she made her rounds to every single table AROUND us. Laughing. Greeting people. Interacting with guests. For 15 to 20 minutes, we sat there and watched her deliberately avoid our table. And that's when it hit me the thing I didn't want to think. I looked around. Really looked around. And we were the only ones. WELL, I was the only one who was African American woman. Me and my kids. My bestie and my hubby are of European descent. I don't SAY that lightly. Honestly? It makes me sick to even say it. But I couldn't find another explanation. Neither could my friend, who sat straight up in his chair and saw it too up close and personal. He was angry. I had to calm everyone down and say this wasn't worth it. I canceled the burger. We left. It was the worst Mother's Day I have ever had in my life. I have never been treated like this before. It's 2026. People have diverse families. What happened?! To the owner -- I'm hoping you're not her, and I'm hoping you read this. Your friend lost a loyal customer who brought everyone he knew through your doors. You lost our table, our money, and our trust the moment Cheryl decided we didn't matter. The moment she decided that she couldn't be bothered. I travel all around the world speaking, training and I have never been treated to poorly. I called hoping to speak to the OWNER. Cheryl called me back. Are you for real? Great Mexican restaurant in town!!! They start off with duros with tapatío. The horchata and mix drinks are delicious too! My favorite drink is a mamacita it has rum and a strawberry flavor. The food is amazingly delicious, it reminds me of how my abuelita would cook back at home. Great authentic food, I've tried many dishes and none have disappointed me. The molcajete can be shared for sure. the music was good too - they played everything from Maná to Red Hot Chili Peppers. It did take us a while to get seated, but we didn't make a big deal out of it since it was a) Friday evening and b) graduation weekend. our server was Hector and we was awesome. He recommended a few drinks and appetizers and they did not disappoint.
