I went here for the first time this week, even though I've worked in Camarillo for 30 years. I ordered a simple Carne Asada burrito - and this place nailed it! Typically most places can dry out the meat, or it's minced up, or has grizzle in it. The meat here was delicious, and I was very impressed. I plan to try the Chile Relleno burrito next week, and if it's just as good - I'll bump the rating to 5 stars. It's always a good sign when there's a crowd of people in a restaurant at 11:30 ... The food portion is average and the flavor is average as well. There is a taco special sign by the door and when we went in they told us it's only for Tuesday. The salsa bar is lacking, not a lot of choices, chips are minimal as well. Breakfast burrito's potato feels a little raw or just cooked. Not a lot of flavors. After passing by this Mexican restaurant so many times I finally decided to try it. I enjoyed it so much the first time that I had it again within a few days. At times there would be a lady at a cart that seems to be making fresh tortilla or taco shells. The taco salad was very tasty and the shell was crispy but not oily. The shrimp tostada was in a separate container so the shell doesn't get soggy. Tasted similar to shrimp cerviche. The tacos dorados and super quesadilla were also very tasty. They don't offer beans options, only refried beans which I'm not a fan of so I opted to get all rice. The sign outside says #2 on it so there are several throughout Ventura county so it's worth trying if there's one near you. read more

Today I came in for the first time in a long while. The last time I was here I left a very unhappy customer and swore I wouldn't come back. Oh my goodness this was some tasty food. I'll be celebrating Hispanic heritage food here at this place. I mean these tacos y'all hit on point. 3 chorizo tacos and three asada tacos with extra cilantro y cebolla. I ate in the parking lot just in case it was nasty I'd already be in my car to go somewhere else and if it was good I could just call again and order more. These tacos were inhaled. Couldn't get a picture of the chorizo tacos because I didn't have time to fumble with my phone but once my inner hunger monster was satiated I took a picture of these asada tacos like a normal person. My family's fave spot for burritos in Cam! It's super casual, no-frills spot nestled in the corner of a pretty big shopping plaza.The carnitas burrito and it hits every time. I alternate between that and their chicken quesadilla. The chicken quesadilla is the biggest, cheesiest quesadilla that I've ever had in my entire life. It's huge, so I normally split that with my mom. Prices seem to have gone up in the last couple of years, but we continue to come for the great food! read more

The mister wanted tacos. I reminded him we have tacos at home. He still wanted some. I tried to steer him away from unknown food in unfamiliar areas. He still insisted. Okay tacos it is. I was super hopeful with the 4 star. I was raised in Ventura County and left in early 2000. 99% of my meals were at the family dinner table. Including homemade tacos. Now this is just my personal opinion. I was not a fan of this place. What went wrong? Horchatta was watered down. Well of course it would be as it sits in one of those big ice filled jugs. Chips were stale and the carne asada tacos were mediocre. I felt so bad that the Mister did not enjoy his lunch. We have a handful of taco places in Orange County that we really enjoy. This particular place did not agree with our taste buds. The carne asada was not flavorful at all. The meat was chewy and hurt the Misters teeth from knawing on it. Service was okay. A native Spanish speaker took cuts and they helped them first. Don't underestimate if I can speak it or not. Huge menu and huge crowds. Plenty of parking. So they must be doing something right. The hard shell tacos were good, the carne asada burrito was just ok, and the nachos were not all that great. Our main complaint on the nachos was the majority of the cheese wasn't melted and the salsa they put on top made the chips a soggy mess. I love this mini "chain." It has delicious authentic food and has multiple locations throughout Ventura County. I usually get the Super Nachos and some Super Tacos but have had other menu items like quesadillas, flautas, and breakfast burritos as well. The staff is always nice and the ambiance is decent. Special posted at the door - Colorado burrito $9.49 - perfect that is exactly what I came in for. I asked to add sour cream, total was $12.50 = $3 for a dallop or sour cream? Lo and behold, no sour cream in the burrito and I have no idea what the heck they gave me. It tasted like carnitas but sure as hell did not taste or look like traditional Colorado. What this place lacks in ambiance is made up for with the quality of the food. There's nothing particularly surprising in the menu apart from lengua (beef tongue) and cabeza (roasted head). The tortillas are good; there's a tenderness to their flour tortillas that I like. The burritos are large enough to fill two light-eaters and the sauce for the wet burritos pairs very well with carnitas or chorizo. The staff is friendly, and the service runs at medium speed. read more

I don't write many reviews but from someone who was born and raised in Camarillo and grew up coming here throughout my childhood/adolescence it makes me so sad how bad this place is now. I know COVID affected a lot of business so maybe new owners? Idk. Food was really bad, the meat was all fat, asada had no flavor, tortillas were literally falling apart and they took away all their yummy variety of different salsas. To top it off, the lady at the counter was rude AF! God forbid you asked for something because she'd just about roll her eyes at you and when she brought our food to our table she pretty much slammed it in front of us without saying anything and walked away. My one star is purely for the nostalgic memory of the location and the chile relleno was kinda decent. Kinda. I hate to say don't come here but there are other places in Cam that are way better. Come here! This place is incredible! I needed lunch a few weeks ago and stopped in here because Tacos. I was a bit overwhelmed with the menu choices (bleh, only because I was a newcomer!) so I asked the young man for just a soft taco. I chose Carnitas because IMO you can't ever be wrong with ordering Carnitas. I loved the decor on the walls and I was surprised at how large the restaurant was inside. On this day my order was to go, but as I've been reading other Yelpers I MUST GO BACK and try their ceviche and shrimp cocktail. My taco was superb. Always always always choose cilantro and onion because yes. The meat was very flavorful and the chips were fresh and so tasted so good! The food is okay, nothing too special about it. Their salsas are so watery it's more like juice. Their salsa bar is like they didn't even bother trying to make it look appeasing. The service sucks. The cashier is so unwelcoming and looked so bothered to be there. It felt so awkward walking up to the counter to order because there was no, "Hi what can I get for you?" Which I feel is the bare minimum, she literally did not say a word until she had to give us our total. It was pretty empty the whole time we were there. I ordered the Super Burrito (cabeza) and my gf had two tacos (al pastor & carnitas). At first glance, the burrito looked up to par. But as I unwrapped the foil, the tortilla was barely holding up. Note: A good burrito means that you're able to unwrap the whole thing and not have to worry about the contents bursting out. It decent tasting but had an odd consistency due to a combination of soggy refried beans, guac, and possibly sour cream? Halfway, I gave up on keeping it clean and let the contents fall out completely. Will definitely have to order it wrapped in two tortillas next time and update my review in hopes that it helps. The tacos looked good. Carnitas was commented to be better than Establos. But overall, still loving Establos more. read more

We love this place. A year or so ago we tried it and did not like it. We tried it again and are hooked. Many times I see a lady rolling out tortillas. We love the asada tacos and carnitas taco or burrito. We are a fan on their salsas too. It isn't the prettiest or hygienic restaurant and that could be because of the old colors. Behind to the kitchen, it looks clean. I disagree with the lady at the front. I look Hispanic but am half Chinese. She switched from Spanish to English as soon as I spoke English. If you smile or say something kind, she will respond in kind. I find everyone there helpful. I just wish I didn't have to drive 30 minutes to then. Lol. read more
