Odie's was great was happy to make a pitstop on our way to Homer from Anchorage. Was well worth it. The sandwich was delicious. I got the half size and it was just right. Staff was friendly. Folks, the bread is amazing. The Jalapeño Cheddar was so good I wanted to take some home! We stopped in at about 1215 on a Friday, and must have timed it right. No wait to order, but by the time we finished the lunch rush arrived and quickly filled up the restaurant. The sandwiches were really good and their Odie Sauce was tasty! If we had any constructive criticism, it would be that they plan a little better with soda fountain. 3 of 6 flavors were out of order when we got our drinks. When I went back for a refill on my Diet Coke later, it too ran out mid-fill. We also had to wait quite a while for our sandwiches. But that's kind of a first-world problem. The sandwiches are SO good! We called in our order on the drive from Homer to Anchorage. We called it in at Nikiski which was roughly 30 minutes to Odie's. Worked out perfectly. Our food was ready when we arrived and we sat down to eat. Highly recommend calling in ahead to avoid the wait when you arrive. Friendly service. DELICIOUS food. We ordered the Mel and the Club. Both were equally good. The full was too big for us so we had leftovers for when we got to Anchorage. Will be stopping here again. read more

We ate here a couple of times on our stay in Soldotna. One time we called our order in and picked it up in the drive through. The food was ready at the time they told us. Their sandwiches are very good. The chicken salad on sourdough bread was enough to feed two people. The next time we ate at the restaurant. Go through a line and order, wait to be called and enjoy. Bodies in a little cafe where you order sandwiches, wraps, and soups at a counter and then they call your name when it's ready. I wanted a BLT so I "built my own" on sourdough. Came with the Odoes sauce, couldn't find what other sauces they had on the menu. The menu is kind of all over the place and was hard for me to read a bit. They forgo the pickles even though I would have gladly eaten them on the side. So mine was just the Odies sauce, bacon, lettuce and tomato and I did add provolone cheese. There was a ton of perfectly crisp bacon, but the bread wasn't toasted which I would have liked. Overall it was decent, I got half for $10. Whole was like $18. We came around 1:30 on a Monday and they were pretty busy but it didn't take long to order and get our food, maybe 15 minutes. Fountain drinks were $2.50. This is a must go to when here fishing in the Kenai. We've always come here for years and their sandwiches are so good! We were hungry after fishing and had skipped breakfast for fishing. We came before the lunch rush, and asked if the Chipolte Panini was the only panini they have. Happily they replied, "Every sandwich can become a panini!" Choices we like that! Then my husband asked any other sandwiches with roast beef. They then said again happily "You can any meat to any sandwich!" Yes please! Done, we got a full Chipolte Panini add roast beef to go. This place has decent food but is so poorly run I can't give it more than 2 Stars. If the owner reads this, and I hope they do here is some feedback that will help you improve your sales immediately. 1) You have two cash registers, use them both. Pointless to have a 2nd one if you're only going to use one. 2) Have someone supporting the cashier. They should be asking if anyone has a call ahead order for pickup. That way they can go and retrieve the food and stage it for the cashiers to ring it up. 3) If you're going to serve alcohol make sure someone is ready to pour it when it's ordered. The poor cashier had to get someone every time someone ordered a beer. 4) Keep an eye on the dining room. Overflowing trash and tables not wiped off at all during lunch shows a lack of concern for the customers. 5) If you're going to be getting tour bus traffic you need to be ready for it. Your food is good, and the portions are excellent. This feedback is only meant to help you. Your neighbor across the highway is executing the traffic in her Bakery extremely well. Love Odie's! Probably my favorite cafe/sandwich shop in town. I come here often for my business meetings and is my usual go-to when it comes to eating with friends. Great customer service: I've been coming here as a pregnant lady (womp womp for deli meat--hello, lysteria!), but everytime I ask them to cook the meat until steaming (which is safe for us preggos to eat) they do it without complaining. Really thankful for that, otherwise I'd have to eat other places. I order the Chipotle Bacon/Turkey Panini with extra meat and avocado. I would HIGHLY recommend you get some sauces on the side to dip your sandwich in: horseradish, extra chipotle, honey mustard, and odie's sauce. I'm allll about the sauces! Love the cookies too. Of all the places I went to in Alaska, I think I'll miss Odie's the most. A small, unassuming location in Soldotna, this deli somehow captured everything there is to love about life and stuffed it into their variety of sandwiches, soups, and salads. First off, their portions are huge. A small sandwich would be enough to fill most people up, but if you're feeling ambitious (or want a snack for later), you could opt for the large and essentially get two sandwiches (I'd liken the size of the large to 2 standard bread slices placed side by side). They also have a special Odie's sauce which was a type of mustard/mayo mix that paired well with any sandwich they had to offer. The salads were also packed with extras so you're not just grazing on grass (though if that's what you're looking for, they'll happily accommodate any requests you have because their service was also amazing). Good options but the last couple times I went in I was disappointed. The sandwiches used to have a lot more ingredients. Lately it's mostly bread without much in it. Also- when someone orders a child's sandwich with mustard you should really let them know it's not regular yellow mustard and don't soak the bread in it. I had to throw my child's entire sandwich away because he couldn't hang with the mustard even after I tried to scrape it off. read more

Apparently this is the local gem and it really meet the expectation! The panini is one of the best I had and I love the half sandwich, half salad/soup combo! Soup changes everyday so it's a surprise. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! Came here at 3:55 all the way from anchorage because I loved this place so much, the staff told me they were closed at 4 but it wasn't 4; staff must be very lazy... WE LITERALLY DROVE THROUGH THE WILDFIRES TO GET HERE. We explained to the staff very kindly that we drove a long way to get here and that we loved this place and how disappointed we were to not get food; they simply opted for ignoring us. Do not say you are open until 4 and not serve people who arrive 5 minutes before 4 (restaurant business rules 101). I used to come here all the time and preach about this place to everyone but no longer :). Staff needs to be disciplined by owners for trying to be sneaky and not follow the rules! read more

Odie's is a fast food sandwich joint, with fairly good sandwiches at large servings. Stopped in around 4 for a sandwich real fast, my friend got the pulled pork (she said it was good), and I got the classic (roast beef, Odie's sauce, onion, cheese). It took a bit longer than we expected to come out, but it still was fairly quick (less than 10 min). I would be worried if it was busier though, because it was dead when we got there, so maybe plan on a bit of a wait around lunch time. Service was nice, the people working were sweet. Bit of a problem in the back maybe, the cashier had to run back mid transaction to help them. The sandwiches themselves--we got half servings--were huge, and real good. For around $7-8 you get a half sandwich about the size of your face, so it's a good deal. That said, while it was good, you could also just make a sandwich at home. If you're looking for a quick sandwich (without the work), for a decent price and quality taste, this might be your stop. I got an whole special, which was a grilled avocado pesto concoction - actually better than I'd anticipated... and huge... bigger than expected. There actually had a hand drawn picture on the chalkboard menu of the sizes of a 1/2 and a whole. They should put up a sign that says this huge hand drawn picture is actual size! This said prices were really reasonable. They also had a variety of house baked cookies. All large and looked great... but we were stuffed. This is clearly a locals joint.
