My husband and I love rose foods! It's very retro and New York and Jewish. It's excellent. The bagels are delicious as is or with just regular cream cheese, but the magic is in their creative and flavorful topping options. Coffee was solid. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Eating area is cute, looks like an aunties living room or something.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The fish is so fresh and tasty. Friendly staff. Zero complaints, can't wait to return.

Bagels are decent, though IMO not the best in the Portland area. Service was very pleasant and efficient. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Space is well-suited for working remotely, with decent WiFi, chill background music, and a few different seating options.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Nice place to spend a few hours.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Discovered Rose Foods for the first time the other morning and I'm wondering how it took me this long. This locally owned Jewish café is an absolute gem and has quickly become a new favorite in Portland. The menu is impressively well-rounded, offering everything from classic bagel breakfasts to hearty full-plate morning feasts. They also have a great selection of prepackaged items if you want to bring some of the goodness home. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior? Total vibe. Bright, clean, and filled with plants, it's the kind of space that makes you want to linger.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's plenty of seating, thoughtfully curated merchandise to browse, and just the right balance of cozy and open.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Big fan already and I can't wait to go back.

Yesterday I went back to the store & bought a selection of great bagels. Have never had a bad bagel. I talked to the manager Casey about how hard the last order of matzo ball soup was & how little amount of broth there was. A true Matzo Ball should be fluffy with some flavor to it. Casey wanted to know how the matzo ball turned out. Very sorry Casey the matzo ball & broth both didn't pass muster. She was a very sincere manager & comped me a qt of broth & 2 huge matzo balls. For dinner I heated up the matzo ball soup to share with my wife. The matzo ball was hard as a rock with no flavor & the broth was flavorless & a small amount . Casey I've been making matzo ball soup for 60+ years. I shared with her how to get a matzo ball fluffy & light as a feather vs had as a rock. Please take my advice given to you & please once the matzo balls are placed in boiling water the cover goes on without touching the cover. My matzo balls are 1/2 the size of yours & cook covered for 45 minutes. I suggest with the size of your matzo ball they should cooked covered for 85 minutes. Never ever open the cover to check the soup. You might be laughing what do I know? I know how to make a great matzo ball. Please try my advise. I've had many items from your menu. The very best item I've ever had at your store were your potato latkes. I always made a latke that always had great reviews from my family and friends. Your latkes are the best latkes I've ever had. They put mine to shame. The lox bagels you make are always a winner. Casey I have my opinion on other items you serve. If you want my critique please reach out to me. Good luck to you during the holiday season.

Rose Foods is one of the very few Kosher delis in Portland, maybe the only one. This is a really fantastic little deli! Great selections of all kinds, ranging from classic NY bagels to cream cheeses, smoked fish, and sandwiches. The staff is really friendly and they keep orders moving quickly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It has the feeling of a deli you'd find in New York and is decorated just like one in the boroughs.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This is a fantastic place!

Inarguably the best bagel I've had in my life. [[HIGHLIGHT]]A very cute shop with fun merch and great employees makes it that much better.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Will absolutely be going back every time I'm in Portland.

We have been here multiple times and have loved it every time. The breakfast sandwiches are one of our favorites and they have great options you can't get anywhere else! The prices are expensive though even for Portland but not outrageous. We got the salmon salad and a poppyseed bagel with cream cheese, tomatoes, and onion. The salmon salad was so good! I also really love their salami, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich as well. Everything tastes fresh and well baked and I've always been satisfied with everything I've tried so far. Definitely check this place out

We stopped in to grab some breakfast before heading out to the Portland head light! [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was a Sunday morning but was not super crowded which was nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Parking is difficult on Park but there's a few 30 minute spots out front if you're doing takeout. I ordered the sesame bagel with herby goat cheese and tomato which was delicious! The bagel is fairly chewy which means your filling slides around a bit but it wasn't a huge deal. It took about 5-10 minutes for our 2 bagels to be ready so not bad at all! They have free postcards which were super cute and lots of merch for sale. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have a decent amount of seating for how small it seems from the outside![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Wonderful place to stop after a walk on the back cove. My recent trip to Rose Foods was amazing. I picked up two bagels to share and they might be the best bagels I've had in Maine! My favorite things about this place are 1.delicious salmon 2.great window seating to people watch 3.exciting daily specials. I will note it was a busy morning and it did take a fair amount of time to receive bagels. I was in no rush so it was fine, but I would say to bargain for at least 10 minutes for ordering and getting bagels. Completely worth it in my books.

FANTASTIC bagel, one of the best I've ever had, honestly really on par with the NYC bagel scene. I got the everything bagel with cream cheese and lox. The chew/crust on this bagel is wonderful. Flavor is similarly great. Honestly really really really good, I'm so happy I came here on my Portland trip. Walked in on a Tuesday morning around 11am and got my food within 5 minutes. Service was really nice. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Lots of seating inside and cute vibes[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Rose foods is hard to park at but worth the journey. Well worth. While you can skip out on the iced coffee you cannot skip out on the bagels. This is a no brainer. I used to work at Forage and I have to say I would go out of my way for a rose bagel the two are so very good. Easily the best in Portland. I think what makes them stand out is how they are baked- being so perfectly crunchy on the outside. It's truly an art. The inside is so precious and get a little sticker when you're there so we can match.

    Paul R.

Great morning bagel sandwich spot - excellent quality, excellent selection, excellent service. Snagged a salami egg and added watercress; an egg cheese and added turkey bacon. The food was fast, the service was kind/nice. Price was decent for the quality. $11-$13 inclusive of those add-ons referenced. This icon is worth a stop (as you likely already knew)

But it looked like a large cafeteria almost inside. Lots of windows and lots of tables. The line went quick. The human at the counter was polite, quick, and answered my questions. Very quick though, and I appreciate that when you are on the move.

The pictures of the bagels and bagel breakfast sandwiches was a big selling point. Once we got inside and saw the specials board it was an even better choice to swing in. For seasonal drinks they had a honey cinnamon latte as well lavender latte. As well as their current seasonal cream cheese being honey lavender flavor. Line was long and place was packed by the time we got here but line did move quickly! My wife got a salted bagel with the honey lavender cream cheese and an iced lavender latte. I got a plain bagel breakfast sandwich with sausage and an iced honey cinnamon latte. Despite the line moving quickly the wait for our order did take significantly longer including many who ordered after us receiving food and drinks quicker. I think we would take advantage of online ordering next time! Both drinks were tasty and bagel breakfast sandwich was tasty. My wife loved the cream cheese but wished the bagel was not as tough. Overall the bagels being made in their wood fire oven give such a great crisp. Despite not being our original destination they delivered a far superior experience than our first stop. I would return and look forward to trying even more from Forage!
