I've been coming here for ages... Well before the Rose International Market reopened in its new (current) location. Just haven't quite gotten around to reviewing the Rose... I remember the run down original location before the building caught fire more than a decade ago. Actually, I think it was 2010. I stopped by to get some grub and was shocked to see the place had burned down!! I was at a loss of words. The old spot looked like a hole in the wall; old, unkept and run down grocery store, but it did have more seating for dining in. I remember walking past several Persian folks eating on my way to place an order...lol I heard the building had burned down from a grease fire or something like that. I was ecstatic when they reopened the (current) bigger , brighter, cleaner and fancier Rose Market. As with almost all things overtime, food and goods have gotten more expensive. However the good here is still a bargain compared to other Persian spots... and it's still tasty albeit IMHO not as good the OG location, but not by a lot... #PersianEats: (what I can remember... over the years) ~ Koubideh Super Sanwich - 4/5 ~ Kotlet Sandwich - 4/5 ~ Lahori Chicken - 4/5 ~ Barg - 4/5 ~ Chicken Koubideh - 4/5 ~ Lamb Koubideh - 4/5 ~ Olvieh Sandwich - 4/5 ~ Kookoo Sabzi Sandwich - 4/5 I'm still a regular...

Amazing kebabs! Super reasonable price too, and the portions are massive. This is different from the previous location that was in Saratoga, but just as tasty. This is located inside of a grocery store. I got the beef and lamb koobideh kebabs, with a grilled onion and rice. You order inside at the counter, and can pick up at the window outside. The beef kebab was definitely my preference. Would definitely recommend to try it out for a quick meal.

As a Persian woman, I can tell you this is the best place in the Bay Area for kabobs. The prices are also the best, $8 for chicken thigh and $7 for beef koobideh (ground beef). You order inside and then pickup on the window outside. They always throw in lots of bread for free. I order a whole tray and then I'm set for the whole week!

Sweet Rice (Zereshk Polo) with chicken

We've been coming to Rose Market for decades. Whether we're grabbing groceries or stopping by for lunch, they never disappoint. The kabobs are always on point, juicy and full of flavor. We especially love the chicken breast with sweet rice (zereshk polo). They've got plenty of traditional Persian dishes too like ghormeh sabzi (beef stew) and fesenjan (pomegranate sauce over chicken) if you're in the mood to try something different. And don't miss the Friday special. The shirin polo is amazing. Their little market has everything from fresh halal meats to Persian spices and sweets. Super friendly staff, great portions and fair prices. We keep coming back for a reason.

    Salad isn't fresh anymore

I've gone twice this month and both times my shirazi salad has been had been expired.

Seasoned pistachios with dead maggots and insect webs

I used to regularly shop/eat there a few years ago, but their standards have really fallen lately! I bought a clamshell of pistachio with roasted chili lime type of seasoning. I put it away in my pantry, and a week later, after I absentmindedly ate some, I noticed there was a fine web inside the container. I called the store and let them know that I'd drop it off for them to inspect. I wrapped it up and stuck it in my car for the next time I went to Mountain View ( 35+ miles). 3 days later I went to check it and there were MAGGOTS! That's an absolute NO-NO!

    Rice

They are racist if you're not Arab. I come buy kabobs with rice and they charged me 11$ for a box of rice like pictures. Just so you know that 1 order of rice you can get 3 pieces tahdig, I buy 2 order of rice, and the guy there charges me extra for tahdig. The lady before me have the same thing but didn't get extra charges. So be aware of this scam here

Do I need to order Tandoori chicken and kebab ahead (call)?

If you want yes. Also you can order it at cashiers once you there. I normally order my order 2-4 minutes before arriving at the location.

Has anyone purchased the herb/spice Persian Saffron from this location?

Yes. This is my go-to place for middle-eastern herbs, spices, pepper sauces and saffron.

Do you sell fresh koobideh meat that I can purchase by the Lb and grill at home? Do they sell Persian saffron pre packaged? If so which aisle?

Hello! Does anybody know whether they sell beef or lamb heart, liver and other sub products? Thanks…

They offer lamb liver, kidney and heart from the grill. Since they grill directly at the butcher counter, I'd assume you can buy those raw too. I suggest to give them a call.

They are starting to add more pastries and the displays are looking good, especially with the sesame buns and cheesy tarts, etc. I'm surprised that they are trying to beat pastry prices in the area and it's definitely looking good here. Decent prices and good looking pastries. Still feels like a startup though. Cashiers are training and doing their jobs. Hashi Market has been upgrading too. I purchased 3 large bags of dumplings for only $10. It was a good sale this weekend. Celery pork/leek-scallions pork/cilantro chicken/etc. I think their fresh vegetables have dropped in prices too ($1.49-$2.99 per lbs.). Finally. I come here for tofu selections too. You can also find good 1liter healthy coconut water for under $3 each now. Hashi Market is slowly improving and training more new employees inside. This grocery store is convenient and they have made the aisles more spacious to walk around. Food deli area is still operating. I think the place is much better now compared to when it was the Marina grocery store in past years. Japanese products are showing up more and things are more positive here. They were still redoing the front of house so not sure when they will open fully but looking forward to trying more Azerbaijan food. Since I've never had Azerbaijan food before, I asked for a recommendation and he said all of the food is good but did say that the chicken shawarma was big and I was feeling a bit hungry so went with that. It came with fries and some peppers, which reminded me of banana peppers. Not spicy with a briney taste to it, great accompaniment. He also tossed in this yogurt drink (I didn't get the name) that was tasty. Overall, good food and will be back to try their lamb kebabs and the burger as well and interested to see what their pizzas will be like as well.
