    Boiled 3lb Lobsters-Ready to Eat
    Richard T.

We purchased a couple 3lb Live Lobsters from 99 Ranch Market last New Year's Eve, which were 'Fresh/Delicious'. Hoping to do the same again this year, but don't know if we'll have to take out a 'second mortgage' due to 'Tariffs', etc... Yesterday, I wrote a review 'Praising 5-Stars' their lobsters, but unfortunately, they 'Do Not Answer the Phone'. I did succeed in having someone 'Answer' a few nights ago, but the person did not 'Speak English'; said to try again later when some other employee might be present who could do so. Have tried calling several(5-6 times) over past couple days, but 'Nobody Answers'; have let the phone ring for as long as 8min. w/o anyone answering. Recording/Menu repeats every minute or so, but even selecting the 'Bakery #2' option, they don't answer either.

Good selection and good prices. Produce is fresh. Snack aisle has plenty of tasty treats. The steam table food looks good but I have yet to try. Depending on the amount purchased, cashiers often give out coupons. Parking lot is spacious enough but does get busy. Happy to have this grocery store in the neighborhood!

Your standard 99 Ranch for Asian groceries. You'll find pretty much everything in terms of Taiwanese / Chinese groceries here. The lunar new year items are great, and you won't want to miss them. As for the hot foods, regular selection for dim sum, standard Cantonese style dishes. They also have BBQ duck and BBQ pork. Be sure to spend enough to get hot food coupons. It's a great deal.

Elizabeth S. would be happier working somewhere else. I'm not sure why she was even hired.

I love this store but I had a horrible checkout experience with Elizabeth S. as my cashier. She ignored me the entire time, even while I directly asked her a question. She never greeted me or said anything to me. Even when handing me my receipt. If she doesn't like her job she is welcome to quit at any time. 99 Ranch and it's customer service image is better off without her.

It was my first time in Ranch 99- overall it's a very clean grocery store. The have a hot good section which had a good selection of meats and dumplings to choose from! They even have roasted duck! I enjoyed walking around the isles and hot done treats to bring back to my family! They have a good produce section as well.

Zongzi I purchased, only black rice with red bean paste, completely different from the display one pointed by the lady in charge

Yesterday, I went to the Deli counter for 粽子 (Hot Rice Dumpling) in light of Dragon Boat Festival. I asked the lady in charge about what type of 粽子. She pointed to the display one, containing salted egg yolk, Chinese sausage/pork, chestnut, possibly a bit of mushroom (see photo), costing $5.45 (with tax). I reluctantly bought one and was very surprised that this 粽子 contained just dark purple/black rice, filled with brown red bean paste, completely different from the display one (see photo). In a few recent occasions, I also found rotten vegetables, such as bitter melon, rotten taro. In summary, Ranch 99 provides poor customer service, deceptive goods, low quality products at much higher price. I would avoid Ranch 99.

See all the bone and end pieces they gave me in my quarter duck? It looks smaller than the soy sauce chicken

Deli workers are rude. I had forgotten because the last time I bought hot food here was a couple years ago and today I was reminded why I avoided this place. I saw a quarter piece of roast duck. It has been about 9 months since I purchased a Chinese deli roast duck and I wanted it. I asked the butcher can I have that piece. He informs me no, I have to buy a half duck or whole duck. I can see there is 1/4 duck and 1/4 soy sauce chicken. I ask how can I get a quarter piece. He says I have to purchase a combos so I say ok. As he is cutting the meat, I see that he leaves the drumstick of the roast duck OUT of my box. I ask why is he leaving that critical piece out of my 1/4 duck and the lady cashier says the chef master gets to decide what goes in the box. So you are telling me when I purchase a quarter duck, that has the drumstick, I cannot get the entire quarter duck?? Ridiculous.

The shopping experience collectively is rather odd. The entire store is very dimly lit and it's a strange experience. At first, it feels like an upscale food court, filled with upscale large kiosk throughout the store. They have an amazing Sushi counter, and amazing meat counter. Almost anything you could possibly think of can be found, or freshly cut to order. Just as you're walking around, there's small areas where you might find fresh noodles, or some definite, unique food finds like fresh tteokbokki. Yes I needed to buy this! They have an entire beauty section that's filled with the variety of products, many of them overpriced, but also hard to find in the average marketplace. The fresh fruit area is small, but abundant. This is definitely worth a visit, if nothing more than the experience. You will find some amazing and unique items that are usually only found abroad.

The rewards system is essentially a 1% cash back at a 1000pt cliff -- meaning you get $10 after you spend $1000 but no redemptions before that. Being a member also doesn't get you any additional discounts vs non-members. But hey it's free so it doesn't hurt. I'll always support there being more Asian grocery stores in the West Side of the South Bay. H-Mart always had that spot for me, but now it's shared. Mega Mart's marketed as a more premium store, but it does its best when they're running sales. Price between the two are pretty neck and neck. You'll spend anywhere from $70-$200 per trip cuz the small things do add up. They used to have prepped food marked off anywhere from 30-70% off in the final and early hours of the day. Now, it's an inconsistent luck of the draw. However, I've never had an issue with food quality with anything I've purchased whether it be prepped food or raw ingredients. 4/5, solid store. Hope they continue to grow and thrive as a mainstay of the community.

They had the usual array of nonstick pots, which don't work very well for me. They had a small but useful section for clay pots. I thought Amazon and AliExpress had overpriced clay pots, but I was wrong. These prices were significantly higher. I can only hope these are the best of the best. Checking up on 99 Ranch, I couldn't even find clay pots in there more limited kitchen utensil section. I ran across one item where knockoffs are ubiquitous. They've completely flooded AliExpress and you have to watch it with Amazon. Hankook had the authentic item and at significantly lower price than both Amazon and Aldi express. I found a tea section to be well stocked. I also recognize some of the tea brands. 99 Ranch has gone with lower cost options, but if you buy 6 ounces of tea, are you gonna be stuck with an enormous supply. Better to go with reliable brands that I have enjoyed in the past. I loved the produce section. It was nice and fresh. It also had wider selection of produce than other supermarkets. The store itself is stunning. The the aisles are spacious. The store is meticulously clean. The shelves are fully stocked. There were only about two items which were shopped out. The snack area and the frozen foods were even more interesting. It's obvious in those two sections that there were many more Korean brands. I should've tried some, but it's hard for me to resist snacks and there was a good chance that would finish the entire bag in one go. Better to skip it entirely. The parking lot for the supermarket is spacious. I had no trouble finding a spot even though I arrived in the late afternoon when everybody has gotten off work. I live about two hours away. One of the biggest draws is their whole Maine lobster platter, which is surprisingly affordable at around $20. More importantly, the lobsters are freshly steamed and incredibly fresh. They even have a live lobster market inside the restaurant, and if you prefer to cook at home, you can purchase fresh raw lobsters from the market for an even better value. I'm also a big fan of their fresh-shucked oysters. I paid around $4-$5 per oyster during my visit, which was well worth it for the quality. However, if you come during happy hour, they're only $1 each, making it one of the best oyster deals you'll find in the Bay Area. The crab chowder was flavorful and satisfying, while the lobster mac and cheese was loaded with generous chunks of lobster meat. Even if lobster isn't your thing, the menu offers plenty of other seafood options to choose from. There is ample seating, but parking can be challenging. The restaurant is located in a business district where many spaces are reserved, so arriving early is highly recommended. During peak hours, it's common to see a line wrapped around the block just to place an order. The service was excellent as well. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and genuinely welcoming. One thing to keep in mind: this is a fresh steamed seafood spot, not a Southern-style seafood boil. Don't expect heavy seasoning or bold spice blends. Their approach is all about preserving the natural flavor and integrity of the seafood. When the seafood is this fresh, it really doesn't need much else.
