I bought materials for Kra Pao: their chicken breasts reek and feel mucky, and the pack of basil was all dried and wilted and barely half was usable. Pretty sure this place has poor practices when it comes to labeling "sell by" dates. I also had a pack of chicken breast from Trader Joe's with the same sell by date, and the freshness was absolute night and day. This better not ruin my Kra Pao. Will not be back again. read more

Food court review only: The rest of 99 Ranch is a GREAT resource for Asian food/ fish/ produce. The food court was ROUGH. Everything was COLD or lukewarm, which is WAY WORSE. I bought small scoops of a few things to sample and the scant dim sum offerings, $54?!!! I almost walked out, leaving it on the counter. Tried a few things before I started wondering how long everything had been sitting out in the "danger zone" temperature. NOTHING was hot. $52 worth of lunch ended up in the chevron garbage can. We purchased a couple 3lb Live Lobsters from 99 Ranch Market last New Year's Eve, which were 'Fresh/Delicious'. Hoping to do the same again this year, but don't know if we'll have to take out a 'second mortgage' due to 'Tariffs', etc... Yesterday, I wrote a review 'Praising 5-Stars' their lobsters, but unfortunately, they 'Do Not Answer the Phone'. I did succeed in having someone 'Answer' a few nights ago, but the person did not 'Speak English'; said to try again later when some other employee might be present who could do so. Have tried calling several(5-6 times) over past couple days, but 'Nobody Answers'; have let the phone ring for as long as 8min. w/o anyone answering. Recording/Menu repeats every minute or so, but even selecting the 'Bakery #2' option, they don't answer either. read more

Good selection and good prices. Produce is fresh. Snack aisle has plenty of tasty treats. The steam table food looks good but I have yet to try. Depending on the amount purchased, cashiers often give out coupons. Parking lot is spacious enough but does get busy. Happy to have this grocery store in the neighborhood! read more

It's really unfortunate that I have to write this review..but pretty much every time I've been here I have had either a weird or rude experience. You might be asking..why do I keep coming back? Well..it's near my work and the food/price at the hot food section is pretty good. Unfortunately, they hire very rude workers who kind of make you feel bad because you don't know Cantonese or mandarin..which ever one they speak here. My bad for only knowing English and Vietnamese. What pushed me to write this review was..the other day I was here and got a couple hot food items. The total was $27 something..but for some reason I thought it said $17 so I handed the lady a $20 bill. She threw it back at me and said "that's not enough" and gave me this nasty look..SHE THREW THE MONEY AT ME. I was like wow..Of course I was piss at that point so I took out a $10 and threw the $30 at her. So rude..and yes I was rude right back at her. I probably won't be going back here unless I really crave their braised pork..their braised pork is so good..and their chow mein is decent too. Not too oily..just right. This place was so convenient when I would crave some quick and easy Chinese food near work..but I will have to look elsewhere now. read more

Your standard 99 Ranch for Asian groceries. You'll find pretty much everything in terms of Taiwanese / Chinese groceries here. The lunar new year items are great, and you won't want to miss them. As for the hot foods, regular selection for dim sum, standard Cantonese style dishes. They also have BBQ duck and BBQ pork. Be sure to spend enough to get hot food coupons. Don't be fooled by the look of the dim sum at the Deli. It looks good but in fact, it is horrible. Not even edible. We had to spit it out. For the price of $2 a piece, you get siu mai with tough dry pork, tough dry pork with red dye in BBQ pork buns. Some deep fried pieces are simply not edible. Buns and some dim sum are clearly frozen then steamed. It is shocking that they have the gall to charge $2 for such rubbish. A good dim sum restaurant is even cheaper! I love this store but I had a horrible checkout experience with Elizabeth S. as my cashier. She ignored me the entire time, even while I directly asked her a question. She never greeted me or said anything to me. Even when handing me my receipt. It was my first time in Ranch 99- overall it's a very clean grocery store. The have a hot good section which had a good selection of meats and dumplings to choose from! They even have roasted duck! I enjoyed walking around the isles and hot done treats to bring back to my family! They have a good produce section as well. read more

Yesterday, I went to the Deli counter for 粽子 (Hot Rice Dumpling) in light of Dragon Boat Festival. I asked the lady in charge about what type of 粽子. She pointed to the display one, containing salted egg yolk, Chinese sausage/pork, chestnut, possibly a bit of mushroom (see photo), costing $5.45 (with tax). I reluctantly bought one and was very surprised that this 粽子 contained just dark purple/black rice, filled with brown red bean paste, completely different from the display one (see photo). In a few recent occasions, I also found rotten vegetables, such as bitter melon, rotten taro. In summary, Ranch 99 provides poor customer service, deceptive goods, low quality products at much higher price. I would avoid Ranch 99. read more

One of the better Asian supermarkets in the South Bay. They are well stocked and parking is usually not a problem. I like their hot foods and meats section, the bakery and the fruits and vegetables. For special holidays, they have prepared meals available. Cleanliness is also good. Wish they had more check outs, that always seems to be the bottleneck. read more

Deli workers are rude. I had forgotten because the last time I bought hot food here was a couple years ago and today I was reminded why I avoided this place. I saw a quarter piece of roast duck. It has been about 9 months since I purchased a Chinese deli roast duck and I wanted it. I asked the butcher can I have that piece. He informs me no, I have to buy a half duck or whole duck. I can see there is 1/4 duck and 1/4 soy sauce chicken. I ask how can I get a quarter piece. He says I have to purchase a combos so I say ok. As he is cutting the meat, I see that he leaves the drumstick of the roast duck OUT of my box. I ask why is he leaving that critical piece out of my 1/4 duck and the lady cashier says the chef master gets to decide what goes in the box. So you are telling me when I purchase a quarter duck, that has the drumstick, I cannot get the entire quarter duck?? Ridiculous. read more

I wanted to particularly thank Manager Kelly for her kindness and warm hearted hospitality. She went extra mile for us in customer service in a rare situation. We could tell that Kelly was kind from her true heart to us, very courteous and empathetic without acting. Kelly made our Thanksgiving 2024 much better than it would've been. We also want to share our experience that the 99 Ranch brand instant Ramen is really good, both the kimchi flavor and the spicy seafood flavor, better than Shin Ramen and much less expensive. The fried fish at 99 ranch Cafe is the best fried boneless fish fillet I've ever had, and the chicken drumsticks are good value. This 99 Ranch is very conveniently located and has a good selection of produce, meats, and groceries. Flyers are available at the front advertising that week's sales. Note that good deals on produce, such as $2.99/lb for garlic stems, can sell out very quickly. You get a $1 coupon for every $20 you spend, which can be used at the deli or bakery. My only wish is for better bike parking to be added. The bike racks only allow locking the front wheel, so I prefer to lock my bike against the railing on the side of the ramp. read more

One star because of their terrible customer service. None of the employees were helpful or friendly at all. I was buying two of their boba teas (plus other groceries ) but the cashier was so careless she knocked out one of them and didn't even bother to wipe down the spilled liquid. One of the few Asian markets in the area. I love how they give you coupons based on how much you spend. So if you spend $100, you get $10 coupon to use at the hot food bar or bakery. I always use it to buy 4 red bean buns haha. They have a good selection of snacks, noodles, and condiments. Veggies are cheap and last long in the fridge. Finally a store I can find all the ingredients I need for Asian dishes. In other stores I've scoured their $$$ ethnic sections and come away still missing ingredients. There is a large parking lot which is nice. They have spray and paper towels to disinfect your cart when you enter and some plastic partitions at check out. The produce section had all the Asian produce I was looking for: Chinese cabbage, green onions, different types of mushrooms including: shiitake mushrooms, cilantro, etc. I would throughly wash any produce when you get home and try to use them quickly. Near the produce they also have multiple types of tofu and kimchi. My favorite find were the noodles and sauces. They have ramen, vermicelli noodles and sweet potatoe noodles (great for Korean Japchae). There was a large selection of soy sauce, fish sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, and hoisin sauce to name a few. There are snacks and treats. To the right there is a bakery and deli for hot food. They've given me a coupon for the deli on my last two visits. I did purchase the wrong sauce and when I went to return/exchange it I got the impression you have 7 days to do so, so check your receipt or ask the staff. Luckily I was able to return it and purchase the correct sauce so it worked out for me. read more

The cold cuts deli meat department here is amazing. Especially yuan chao who has a great sense of humor, and great customer service. He give great recommendations on the kinds of meat cuts to choose and which parts are fresh each day. The inside floor is very clean, with lots of bright lighting. I come here about once a week for my Asian groceries especially the wide selection of Asian vegetables - where else can you find 4 different options for Bok choy! lol. Prices are a little more than chinatown in Oakland or San Francisco, but this saves a trip out to east bay and parking here in the strip mall is sooo much easier if you've ever had to battle parking in Oakland Chinatown. They also had a good selection of seafood including some live ones in the tank. On the right side of the market they had a cooked food section with various options for dim sum as well as roast duck, soy sauce chicken, or roast pork. They also have a section with various prepared foods that you could take out or eat there (tip: there is a hidden dining room behind the bakery that you could sit down and eat in). Next to the prepared foods, there is a bakery. Although I generally don't get bakery items and prefer 85 or shengkee which are easily available in the peninsula. Tip for those not aware- for every $20 in groceries you buy, you get a $1 coupon to use for future purchases. read more

I used to come to 99 Ranch on a weekly basis and was happy with my visits. Lately, I have noticed the store has deliberately left item price tags blank. We are not looking at 1 or 2 items but multiple items per aisle. This is not legal practice, based on the California law ( BPC §13300 ) requiring customer price displays. It was enacted in 2002 and became effective January 1, 2007. I hope they can correct this illegal practice before receiving a costly citation. read more

They sell expired food! And the meat is not fresh. Price is more expensive than other 99 ranch stores.

This is for the hot deli, soup section. I ordered the A7: egg noodle soup with beef stew and wontons. The order ended up taking 10 minutes. There was no one doing the station, and the guy who ended up finally coming out didn't have all the ingredients he needed so he ended up having to find it. There were homemade wontons left in the bin where they keep it refrigerated among the ingredients at the counter, but I guess it wasn't enough. So he went to the back and ended up poppin open a bag of frozen wontons.. which were so very bad. the soup was pure water and the stew didn't have any star anise flavor at all. It was cooked ok, was not as tender as the one you would get in Milpitas, but it was edible. The noodles were cooked well and he packed that in. The wontons were not good at all, and There were only a few stalks of broccoli. He had a heavy hand with what he gave me so I was pretty thankful though. That entire area needed help - people were queueing up during lunchtime and the servers left this one lady and one dude all by themselves to man three separate stations. Very bad service, the Mexican guy at fish department has very bad attitude. When I asked for the sea bass steak, I told him the one I like. He kept taking the other one. I kept told him not the right one. And then he was not happy and helped other customer. I complain ed to a guy in the same Dept. The older Chinese guy said way wait we are busy. What kind of service here. Btw when I complained to the customer service, the lady said maybe the Mexican guy doesn't speak English. Ridiculous doesn't speak English does mean he shows the attitudes to the customers! Will not recommend this store and will not come back again! read more
