My friends and former colleagues are making the restaurant rounds at the Fair Oaks Plaza. This month we went to Isfahan Kabob. We were the first patrons of a group of six. The place was very clean and bright. They have a monitor above our table that was televising a Canadian candid camera show. It entertained us after our meal. I ordered the Shishkabob that's with half chicken breast and half beef, green bell peppers and onions, served with basmati rice and roasted tomato. You can get it with half rice and half salad. The cost was fairly reasonable considering the portion size and price of food these days, $17 plus tax. They cook to order and I have to say the flavor was very good but the meat was dry and the green pepper was charred, though the onion and tomato were roasted just right. I don't want to discount the service which was excellent but this is my honest opinion.

I've been to several Mediterranean restaurants before featuring kabobs and kubideh (ground meat), but never knew about Isfahan until recently. A colleague recommended this place and four of us dined in for lunch. Order at the register up front for take out or at the table for dine in. The menu follows the sequence of photos pictured above the kitchen. Easy to see I wanted a combo! It's very tidy and clean inside, almost sparkling! Almost looks like they remodeled. Plenty of seating. There was only one gentleman dining in when we arrived. Eats: *Shish Kabob Combo, 1/2 rice 1/2 salad: beef kubideh plus a mixed meat kabob with grilled veggies over saffron rice. They include a packet of butter to mix with the hot rice, along with a whole roasted tomato. *Double Beef Kubideh *Double Chicken Kubideh *Chicken Skewer 1/2 rice 1/2 salad The half salad was a simple but refreshing mix of diced tomato, cucumber, and onion. I wasn't too hungry to begin with but I finished everything on my plate but the roasted tomato, which is typically overcooked so it's mushy inside. I prefer fresh tomato like in the salad. My friends pretty much finished everything too. Customer service was excellent! Our waiter, who could've also been the manager, was very attentive and welcoming. Pay at the front after eating. The water was kind of peppery? Perhaps they add a spice. While the food and service were great, I think the food has too much salt content for me. It doesn't taste too salty or anything, might be the kubideh and the recipe/process to make it. I'll try out the grilled chicken kabob next time.

First time trying this restaurant, I like the interior design, and the kabob tastes really good. I will definitely recommend this restaurant to the others. The unique about this restaurant is the owner are Hispanic couples

Ended up here by mistake as we were looking for another Persian restaurant. The short of it and the spoiler: "if you are looking for authentic Persian food, don't dine here!!" We ordered the chicken with bone-in kabob and the chicken/beef kubideh combo. The kabob's didn't taste anything like authentic Persian kabobs, lacked flavor and they had not been marinated in onions long enough. They were all tough and overcooked. The portions were small and the same goes with the rice servings. Will definitely not be back!! I found out that the restaurant is owned by a Central American owner with no ties to Persian food!!! May be the reason for lack of authenticity!

Tender meat. And taste flavorful. Rice is micely cooked. Restaurant is simple. This is one where you go and not pay for ambiance and yet, still enjoy your visit

Great kabobs. We ordered the chicken breast kabob and they were very well done, juicy. Falafel side was ok, they were nice and soft, but I could taste a lot of baking soda.

Delicious food and excellent service! Everything is fresh and full of flavor, and the chicken kabob is especially good.

Legit place for Persian kabobs. Basic but good. Fast preparation, reasonable pricing. The menu offers typical Persian kabob plates and a few stews. Set in a charming strip mall with intriguing-sounding businesses like California Momo Shop, Baklava Oasis and Halal Fried Chicken. Interior is clean and new and looking. Order at the counter and they bring it to your table. The koobideh kabob has great flavor, char and juiciness. They provide a pat of butter for the basmati rice. Sumac is on the table. Grilled tomato, grilled onion, zereshk, were all perfect accompaniments to the kabob. My only quibble was the hot sauce they provide is Mexican orange sauce. I prefer a red chili sauce with Persian food, like you find in most other Persian places. I feel it goes better with middle eastern food.

Delicious kebabs. I tried the bone in chicken which was very tender and flavorful with the saffron basmati rice and roasted tomato. Quick and friendly service.

Alot of people have said that the Syrian version is the best I know I needed to try it. Behold Iraklis ended up being only five minutes from my house. I remember that this place used to be so many other restaurants, and now has been replaced by this great place. You know the food is going to be good when the owner or manager comes out to ask you how the food is to each costumer. I felt that warmth for sure. As for the food it was very delicious the stand out was of course was rmthe shawarma I got chicken which came with the pomegranate molasses, which was good, but maybe next time I can ask for a little less because I do want to also try the chicken flavor itself, which is why I also for the chicken kakbab on the side to which was very well seasoned and delicious. The pickles and hummus on the side for both plates are a very nice touch they help cut some of the richness down. The fries are the underrated gem also. The way they are fried and cooked here, I think they do fresh batches every time, that is the vibe I get with this place. The hibiscus juice was also really refreshing to drink. It's a small place but most of the tables were all seated by people, and people were coming in and ordering to go, so you know it's good! Definitely give this place a try!

This one was disappointing enough to feel worth documenting. My boyfriend and I ended up here after attempting to go to Treehouse nearby (which had an hour wait--unsurprising given the concept). This restaurant was a short walk away, which actually worked out well given how congested the area was, and we walked in optimistic. The space itself is very large, but nearly empty for a weekday evening. It felt family-owned and casual, which I usually love--many of my favorite restaurants fall into that category. Unfortunately, the experience didn't reflect that warmth. We were given a different menu than other diners, which immediately felt odd. Service wasn't overtly rude, but it was noticeably unwelcoming--almost a "why are you here?" tone rather than hospitality. We ordered hummus and feta, both of which were surprisingly expensive for the portion and quality. We were told bread would arrive automatically with the hummus, but it didn't--despite asking multiple times. When it finally arrived, it was poorly cooked and no longer served any purpose, as we were already well into the meal. Despite the restaurant being far from busy, our mains took about 30 minutes. One dish--a kebab--was fine but very forgettable for a $30+ price point. My dish, dumplings in a yogurt-based sauce, was honestly inedible. I left it untouched and mentioned that it didn't taste good. The response was simply, "Oh, so you don't want a box?" No attempt to fix the issue or even acknowledge it. What sealed it for me was the overall condition of the place. Dirty cutlery, a generally rundown interior, and a lack of attention to cleanliness made it uncomfortable to eat there. I'm not picky about ambiance when the food and service deliver--but here, nothing quite worked together. The whole experience felt very turn-and-burn, as if the restaurant relies on proximity to a popular area rather than repeat customers. I left feeling like unless you're part of a specific in-crowd, this isn't a place that's trying very hard to win you over. Personally, I wouldn't return, and I wouldn't recommend it--especially given the pricing and the many better options nearby.
