Wow, what a great experience! I was feeling under the weather due to a migraine. Decided to try a massage to see if that would help. I got a combo massage for $50 with 35 mins on the feet and 60 mins for the body. They were very thorough and listened to my needs. I have an injure to my lower back and can't have much pressure there. After I mentioned it she was very careful to not put too much pressure but also it skip over it. She asked to make sure the pressure was okay a few times as well. She gave extra attention to my neck and shoulders which I mentioned due to my headache. Three words: severe roach problem! Reading the reviews for this place made me very hopeful. Massages are pricey, and to find a good place at a great price is like a dream. My partner and I walk in and are asked to wait about 20 min in the waiting room. The waiting room lights are all off except for a fish tank in the room. I figured the lights are off for ambiance purposes, but after waiting 15 min I see a roach crawling across the rug. My partner and I immediately get up to leave and as I am walking towards the door I see three more roaches scatter across the ground!!!! Like I could reach over and touch the chair next to me. The masseuse didn't ask me how the pressure was the entire time. Of course I could have spoken up, but I always feel bad (my problem I know). But she was massaging so softly. The thing that I disliked the most and really upset me during the massage, was that my masseuse was talking to the one next to us...the whole time!! 4 stars for massage but dropped a star because of their tipping policy... I tipped 20% of what the service was that I got. I was then told very awkwardly as the person that gave me the massage stood next to me and counted his tip that it wasn't enough. I was then told by the front desk staff that there's a minimum tip for services. Wtf so I ended up tipping 25% of what the service was. While it wasn't a huge amount more it was just all around a bad way to end a relaxing experience. This was a sad ending to my time visiting Rose massage. For years it was and could be again a fabulous value as well as i nice treat to yourself. I have never had a sub-par massage at Rose but last night was the worst experience on every level. The prices changed and that is expected but they have conflicting prices all over the windows and indoors. I can totally deal with that but this time the masseurs were talking and being irreverent in general. You can tell when someone is massaging you and then they kinda stop because they are looking off into their phone or dazing off. Still....I can even take that on occasion but this time my husband and I both had this experience as we were next to each other and both the women were talking. When we went to pay we were quickly informed that we were not paying enough as the prices changed. Oh, ok we said and paid. My husband left a $5 tip for each that did the $25 foot massage (we usually pay $10 or even more if a good massage was attempted. The women/girls and the guy at the front desk said "$5 each? That's it? The masseurs pointed at a newly printed tip guide that started at a little over 30%. They strongly urged us to pay the suggested tip. It was out of a creepy movie where the once friendly place turned into the Walking Dead. I proceeded to tell all three of them that i paid $5 because it was a really bad massage and it was obvious they were goofing off and talking throughout. Anyway, my husband and I proceeded to leave and shaking our heads we decided that we couldn't return to Rose Massage. I felt really uncomfortable and that is the last feeling you should have when leaving a foot massage. More elbow than palm, forearm, or closed/soft fist and it wasn't in the right places, didn't even warm up the muscles before going in with an elbow . Severally times I told her it hurted ( As a massage therapist I know the difference between the "good" kind of pain - relieving , and when it's flat out not the one that a person should take) Her pace felt like she was in a rush! Didn't check in with the pressure nor asked about any focus areas or what to avoid. Tables were very uncomfortable face and chest hurted the whole time I was face down.
