Amazing farm to table restaurant at the lake house. We had drinks at the bar to start, and then ate dinner and got several dishes. We started with the Brussels sprouts starter and some oysters, both were delicious. Then we split the artisanal sausage dinner and brisket burger- both were PHENOMENAL. I normally wouldn't pick the sausage and gone with the parpadelle but so glad we did, it was incredible. The burger was almost one of the best burgers, with a delicious sauce and a crispy bun. We ended with a flourless chocolate cake with mint that was also sooooo good! Service was great as well. The layout and design of the place is beautiful and when you first walked in you felt you were in a fancy dinner environment. The view of the water was so beautiful and I truly enjoyed the evening sights. The food was so delicious and the portions were huge which compensated for the high prices. The experience would be fantastic for anyone going on a date... IF THE FOOD EVER FUCKING COMES. I WAITED 2 FUCKING HOURS FOR A GODDAMN CHEESEBURGER THEN THESE MFS MADE IT WRONG. Also the busser ass. Beautiful restaurant, cozy atmosphere and delicious, creative menu! We enjoyed watching the kitchen staff in the open kitchen with open fire oven. The squash soup was creamy and delicious. My friend let me sample the ricotta toast with exotic mushrooms, which was yummy. My sausage dish with risotto and sautéed greens was a creative treat! The wine list and cocktail selections are extensive. The prices are moderate and worth the experience of this welcome jewel to our quant community. I have been here a few times. The atmosphere is amazing as it overlooks the lake. Fire-pits outside and its a nice walk around the property. The food is great, but my favorite is the staff. Came here for dinner Saturday night, Michael was our server, he was very sweet and knowledgeable. We started with the wedge salad, the dressing was amazing. I had the beef tenderloin and it was one of the best steaks I've ever had. It was cooked perfectly rare how I ordered it, and the red wine jus paired very well with it. We also ordered the sticky Brussels sprouts, sooo good. Service, food, drinks, and the atmosphere were a 5/5. We will be back again. read more

We had a really nice lunch for my husband's birthday. We started off with a couple of cocktails. The PJ was really delicious! My husband had the steak frites and I had the duck corn dog. The steak was excellent! The corn dog was good, but it seemed more like chicken than duck. The coconut apricot bar was excellent! It was an excellent meal in a lovely setting. We just checked in to The Lake House and are super impressed. As we waited for our room... Stopped first at The Rose Tavern and met Steve. So friendly and informative. Moved on to The Sand Bar and enjoyed lunch and drinks with Adam! We had a blast and Adam didn't miss a beat! Not in our room yet, but if the room is anything like our two servers/bartenders? Recently had brunch at the lake house and Roses Tavern, it was delicious and the staff was beyond accommodating to us and our 14 month old daughter. We were celebrating our anniversary, we were married at Sonnenberg Gardens and then stayed at The Lake House...we wanted to relive that. They were amazing at Roses Tavern and even comped our bloody Mary's after the fact. The breakfast burrito was huge and delicious, so was the huervo style eggs Benedict. The menu is outstanding . The decor is rustic farmhouse with a nice lake view. The charcuterie board had unusual and delicious selections.We loved the open kitchen with board that showed the local meat sources. We had never heard of a pork ribeye. My husband and sister ordered it and it was amazing.. well marbled pork, huge serving and worth the the trip for this unusual cut of pork. My lamb was delicious. The meats come with 4 side sauce options and you can get all 4! The truffle butter , chimmichurri and red wine reduction were perfect for different flavor profiles. My only negative is that I cannot believe Finger lakes Wines were not exclusively featured. I understand most restaurants work with wine distributors. I would encourage the management to redo their wine list or offer night specials. I am not interested in a wine from California or New Zealand in the heart of one of the best wine regions in the country! A restaurant that is high end, excellent food and a la carte pricing should showcase local wine as proudly as it does the meat! read more

Extremely disappointed with the lack of transparency. Booked Father's Day brunch at Rose Tavern months ago expecting their normal brunch offering. It wasn't until we checked in with the hostess that we were told they were ONLY offering a brunch buffet for Father's Day at $65.00 per person!! No where on their website or Facebook did they publish that they had a special buffet only. Talk about putting people in an uncomfortable position, arriving to celebrate only to be shocked that brunch for four is going to cost over $300!!!!! I am revising the review written early this summer. I have been two more times and the food and drinks were much better. The Paloma cocktail is a nice treat and the three entrees we had today were good to excellent. One of the steak salads was perfect and one was tasty but tough even though it was rare. Squash soup and Mac and cheese were very good. Chocolate mousse/pudding was rich and delicious. They are on the right track now. read more

4 couples we went to dinner tonight and had a great dinner when the bills came we were being charge for food that we didn't have it took over an hour and a half for the manager to finally straighten it out after we constantly kept asking for it to be corrected. The manager on staff that night was one of the rudest humans I've ever met in my life he was unprofessional and acted as I t was our fault not the servers fault or his fault. I will never go back because of the rudeness and the unprofessionalism of the manager after coming back with a final check and telling us he comped us a whole meal he still had not gotten it right. Enjoyed a very nice lunch at Rose Tavern a couple of weeks ago. Kat was great and the food was very good. We were very disappointed that Rose Tavern was NOT available today for lunch. Instead had a disappointing experience at the Sand Bar. Our server was great, menu disappointing, and there were no dessert options for our birthday celebration. When lunch is again available, we may return. Very disappointed someone decided to offer only one lunch option at the Lake House. We'll look for other options. read more

Beautiful atmosphere but that was about the extend of what we enjoyed about the place. Service was clearly new and untrained, everything is outrageously overpriced and the food is just okay. They charged $3 for crappy BREAD for crying out loud. Said it was made in house but wasn't even warm when it came out. 12oz New York strip was clearly only 8oz , cheese on pasta was definitely from a bag. Even the cocktail we ordered wasn't great(old fashioned). Was shaken, had no garnish, crushed ice and no muddled orange or cherry? As a guest of the hotel, just disappointed overall. read more

Good food, terribly underprepared for takeout which seems odd in a pandemic. Wish they could get their act together since I'm sure they're missing out on a lot of business only offering takeout Sunday through Thursday. When we do get takeout, again the food has been overall great but the staff acts as if takeout is a foreign concept and they have no clue what to do. Just to be clear this is a review for the Sandbar. Beautiful renovation and likely the nicest resort in upstate/western/central NY but service was absolutely brutal. Multiple bartenders all need more training and generally need to at least pretend to be friendly or like they want to be there. Also, starting prep at 2:20 for an hour-long close from 3-4PM is ludicrous to me, not to mention closing for an hour in general. We had one drink and sat quietly for 25 minutes without ever being able to get a second. Paid our tab and left. This place needs to seriously rethink how they're staffing and operating. If they can do that, we'd be here every weekend in the summer. They even allow dogs on the grounds. read more

We six dined at the Rose Tavern last night to celebrate two birthdays. Our table by the window and the entire ambience were first class. Our waitress was very slow to come take our drink order. We requested that she please drop our drink order off and come back to take our food order because we were ready. We then could see her waiting at the bar until our drinks were ready. We selected two appetizers to share. She delivered two of one order and said it was on the house. When the bill arrived, we were charged for the alleged complementary appetizer. I elected not to complain. Two of our party selected the halibut. When the entrees were served, salmon was substituted for the halibut. No adjustment to the bill was made nor were we offered the opportunity to select something else from the menu. The salmon was delicious and both parties enjoyed their dinner. Still, I thought some accommodation should have been made. The gnocchi entree was absolutely delicious though the optional poached duck egg was hard boiled when it arrived. I would have preferred a runny yolk. Next time, I will request that. Our desserts were delicious. Overall, we thought the service was poor and the food still has room for improvement. We live in Canandaigua and will surely return but are not in any hurry to do so. read more
