Had a reservation for a party of 6 people at 6:15pm on a Saturday night. Seated 5 minutes before our reservation time. The table was upstairs in the enclosed rooftop for the colder weather. Food arrives at the table at different times, don't expect it to come all together. Not a problem when you are aware. Food was good but nothing to write home about. I did really enjoy Furdock's Mexican Corn Elote Dip, though. Our waitress was very personable and attentive. Expect to drop some dough for your meal and drinks. read more

I had a very upsetting experience here regarding gluten safety. I made an OpenTable reservation, and when we were seated, I clearly informed our server, Josh (who was training another staff member), that I have celiac disease. I ordered the GF cauliflower wings and a Caesar salad with salmon. After getting home, I became extremely ill for the next two days due to gluten exposure. I contacted the restaurant via email to let them know the items were not safe for someone with celiac disease. When I spoke with Josh, he claimed he had explained the difference between "gluten-friendly" and "gluten-free," but that was not communicated to our table--I confirmed this with others dining with me. He apologized and offered to look up my card in their system and issue a refund for the items, which I appreciated. However, I never received the refund. After a few days with no response, I was eventually contacted by the owner, who was extremely rude and dismissive. He insisted the items are only "gluten-friendly," not "gluten-free," and said they make no guarantees. When I mentioned that Josh had offered a refund (the items totaled about $45), the owner called out to him in the background, and Josh then denied ever offering one. This was extremely unprofessional. This experience was not only disappointing but also concerning from a health and safety standpoint. If you have celiac disease or a gluten allergy--or are dining with someone who does--I would strongly caution against eating here. Based on my experience, there does not appear to be adequate care taken to prevent cross-contamination or ensure gluten-free safety. Unfortunately, they have lost my business, as well as the business of others in my party. read more

The French onion soup was a little tasteless and WAY too big for a before dinner soup. I finished half of it. I really wanted the beef wellington, but I do not like mushrooms and they wrap the inside of it with the paste, so I had to pass. I got the chicken france' and it was also kinda blah. It was weirdly sweet, but the chicken itself was good. Ambiance, I give a 2. It is so dang loud and crowded in there, so if you aren't a fan of that, don't even try this place. I had the Osso Bouco and it was amazing, the pork was so tender, it fell off the bone. My husband had the Beef Wellington, I had a bite of that and that was amazing too. Well done to the owner and chef I would have never thought that I would order Beef Wellington and Osso Bouco from a bar like setting.. Our waitress was funny and on point, she made us feel comfortable for our first time there. We sat across from the bar and the atmosphere was great, this was a great find and worth every cent. If you're ever in the Canandaigua area, stop here for a great meal and good drink. We didn't make reservations but they got us in, I would recommend that you make a reservation, because it got busy and you might have to wait awhile if you don't. Not sure where the rave reviews are coming from, but we found the staff rude and the food pretty terrible. I had a turkey club and the turkey was bad, so if they can't even get that right, I doubt they are killing it on more complex dishes. Four of us went on a hazy Tuesday summer night and were seated on the rooftop. There was a breeze so it was nice. The tables were clean and we were greeted promptly. Three people ordered salads and one nachos. The waitress told us as we ordered our food that things were served "as they came up in the kitchen" and we may not get things at the same time. My friend and I got our salads about 25 min after ordering. Next order was another salad, 15 min later. By the time the nachos came, the first two were about done, about 15 min after the third. It took a total time of an hour to get all of our food. I'm hoping this was a mistake because that's not acceptable when we are eating together. The food was great, I loved my wedge salad. The atmosphere is also pretty good and it has a bistro vibe going. It's a shame they serve the food the way they do because I'd hesitate going again in a group. You'd be best off sharing dishes so that each of you could eat something at the same time. read more

The ambiance was nice, they sure did redo the place from the back in the day dive bar. They have a somewhat different way of serving (food comes out when it's done not at the same time), but in my opinion that's the way it's done in many countries and I'm happy for the food to come out hot and fresh at any time if that's an issue for you maybe pass but you're passing up on some excellent food!! Kix hosted a dinner for my bachelorette party for 20 gals and it was amazing! From initial outreach to paying for the check, they were helpful, accommodating, and friendly. There were many food options I had the chicken and waffles it was delicious! I met the owner Alex bacon and I made him a bracelet and I also got a picture with him. We came out to Kix a few nights ago and it was the first time in a couple years we were there. We had a reservation and it did take a few mins for our table to be ready but it was understandable because the place was absolutely packed. Our server Margaret was absolutely amazing and very nice. She had made a recommendation on the calamari and it was some of the best we've had in a long time. We got the chicken French and the beef Wellington. Both entrees were amazing! For dessert we got the season cheesecake that was a lemon and blueberry cheesecake and it was so refreshing and light. We ordered a Monkey Garlic Bread and couldn't eat but half between the two of us. My wife ordered the Bruschetta Wedge with shrimp and I had the Buttermilk Chicken & Slaw. We both enjoyed the food. The portions were enormous. There were enough fries for three people! My wife barely finished half of the wedge and we brought the leftover Monkey bread home. The reservation station is oddly placed and people entering have to walk halfway through to find the hostess. Since we were seated close to the door, I saw firsthand the number of confused patrons- including us. Also- hot sauce wasn't available. We will be back again soon! read more

Amazing food and service. Very nice restaurant in downtown Canandaigua. The place was packed, but was able to be seated at the bar immediately. I was promptly given menu and offered beverage. I decided to go with the clothesline bacon appetizer. I was pleasantly surprised when I was presented with a clothesline with bacon hanging from it, and rosemary on top. The chef then pulled out his torch and heated the bacon, and set the rosemary on fire. What a show! The people next to me had to order it just because it looked great(and tasted great too!) I ordered the Shrimp Alexander and really enjoyed the dish. It came out quickly, and was delicious. Even though it had bacon on the shrimp, I enjoyed eating the clothesline shrimp at the same time. After we order our meals, my food arrived alone. 15 minutes later, now my wife has finally gotten her food. They blame this on "the orders come out when they are done". This seems like a very amateur way of operating a kitchen and I'm not sure how this place has gotten such okay reviews on service. The server did not check on us but instead stood in the corner of the rooftop bar and looked around like "the lights were on but nobody was home". Do better. read more
