Why My Most Recent Visit Stood Out On May 16th around 12:20 PM, I attempted to pay my vehicle registration at AAA in Alhambra and realized I needed a smog test first. I called Vic around 12:30 PM, fully expecting to schedule something later in the week since he closes at 1 PM. He asked where I was, and since I was about 2 miles away, we both agreed it would probably take 15-20 minutes to get there, leaving only around 10-15 minutes before closing. Despite that, he respectfully told me to come down because he could still get it done. When I arrived, both Vic and his colleague assisted me and another customer at the same time while still keeping everything organized and professional. He completed the smog test quickly and efficiently, and the pricing was fair. Honestly, he saved me from having to take another day to handle the smog test which would take time and gas, and that level of customer service really stood out. Shop & Waiting Area Compared to many smog stations, the overall property is shared with several neighboring shops. However, Vic's specific area had enough clearance and space for vehicles to park, wait, and get tested comfortably without worrying about maneuvering through tight spots or risking scratches on other vehicles. The lounge area itself is small, but it's indoors and cool, which is especially appreciated with summer approaching. I also liked that the pricing was clearly posted and broken down by vehicle year/type, making everything straightforward and transparent. Extra Touches One thing that genuinely surprised me was that he polishes customers' headlights after the service. Whether or not it completely restores them, it's still a thoughtful and unique extra touch that most places do not offer. They ordered the parts the same day and had my car fixed within about 5 hours, replacing all four brake pads and all four rotors for around $1100. This seemed reasonable compared to the BMW dealership quote of $800 for just the rear brake pads alone. Came down early around 9:45am my dad called the number to ask about pricing and Mr. Ngo mentioned he was running late (10:30am) due to traffic. We waited he showed up. Star smog check cost $55 ($46.75 smog + $8.25 certificate + $0 electronic transfer fee= $55) as of this review 12/2025. Reasonable as i have seen some star smog on yelp in west covina charging $65. Mr. Ngo went right to work, hooked up the car, filled put the necessary info and in about 15 minutes was done. Info sent to dmv and i was on my way. Recommend coming to LC smog for your star smog check needs.

The wash might take a few extra minutes now, but I'd much rather have that if it means they're taking their time and paying attention to the details.
