This business has been around since the 1970s and I know why: they're amazing. They just rebuilt my pool pump. New Impeller, new bearings and other technical stuff. 5 stars don't do justice. I am the owner of a chain of cleaners here in Sacramento and for some odd reason my air compressor motor kept failing on me. About a year ago I decided to purchase a new motor to put a stop to the air compressor madness. Some how the problem persisted. My Hayward pool pump sounded like an airplane so figured it was time to replace the bearings. After lots of internet research I decided to save money by not buying a brand new replacement AO Smith motor. Also I didn't feel comfortable in my own skills to replace the bearing and shaft seal. So I found Rosenau through googling around. They replaced the bearings and seals within a couple of hours. Even repainted the motor so it looks brand new! The electric motor on my clothing conveyor stopped working at my dry cleaners. Since the highest portion of the conveyor was 15' off the floor it posed a serious problem getting clothing back to our customers. A new motor (exact replacement) would take 3 to 8 weeks to build at the factory and cost around $400. I took my existing motor to Jon at Rosenau and he had it fixed the next day (new bearings and a switch) for about 1/3 it would have cost to buy a new one and way quicker. What I love about Rosenau is that they are old-school. They are actual people who know how to fix stuff (instead of the current "throw it away and buy new" mentality). I have utmost respect for people who can noodle on a mechanical issue and, through a mixture of experience and good common sense, fix it. I run a restaurant, and we have a lot of small machinery in our line up of equipment. I first came to Rosenau 18 years ago, needing them to rewind an oven motor for me. Since then they have fixed more oven motors, sheeters, blenders, slicers.... I'm fairly certain there isn't any thing in my place that they wouldn't be able to fix. This Place is absolute Garbage! 6 months ago I brought in a fan motor for service. I was unable to pick it up for 6 months but I imagined if there was something wrong or if it was ready SOMEBODY WOULD CALL!!! Nothing. Six months pass and I could finally pick it up. After I showed the guy my tag he asked me to describe the fan instead of matching the tag. Once it is clear what specific item I'm talking about he seems confused why I would be there to pick up because "It's bad". I ask "What's wrong with it?" He doesn't know, they have to dig into it, and he could take a look today. I ask why no one has called me and/or the repair has no been done. He directs me to the phone number on the tag that I should have called. Apparently, YOU need to call THEM to see if they've done anything! I decided it was time to cut my loses, get my fan and get the hell out of there. The gentleman retrieves my motor FROM OUTSIDE!!! It looks worse than when I brought it in. I can only imagine that, what ever was wrong with it, it's worse. read more

I consider myself a DIYer because I enjoy fixing my own "stuff". I started having trouble with my jacuzzi bath motor so I decided to repair it myself. Well this motor ended up having a sleeve bearing, something way over my head. I ended up doing more damage to this motor. Last Monday, 9/14 I found Rosenau Motors, a small family owned motor company that bailed me out of my motor troubles. Mr. Wolfgang Rosenau (owner) said he could probably repair the motor for a great/fare price and added, if he could not I would not have to pay. In less than 24 hours Mr. Rosenau had my jacuzzi motor ready. WOW where do you get that type of service. Upon picking up my motor I met John, Mr. Rosenau's son. John found another problem with my cord (munched on provably by rats causing an electrical hazard). John had it repaired in minutes and I was out the door. My jacuzzi bath motor will now give me many more years of good service thanks to Rosenau Motors. I will definitely use this company again, Great Service at a great price. read more

I bought a rotary 3 phase converter from Rosenau over 25 years ago. It was still working perfectly when I sold my mill last year and moved back to the Sacramento area. I was delighted to find that this honest, quality shop is still around! I brought them a 1 hp motor to check out a noise- they recommended replacing the bearings, which they did at a very reasonable price and faster than promised. Much more cost effective than replacing the motor. They have my business as long as they're around. Excellent work, fast, honorable. Wish more companies were like this. read more

This is the place to go for anything to do with electric motors, and the things associated with them. ie bearings, windings, armatures, stators, and best of all, advice from the pros. Wolfgang and his crew are the best. I take any electrical problems I have to them and they've always fixed it and never over charged me for their work. They diagnosed a 220v electric wall heater and a dishwasher motor as not having any problems and didn't even charge me. BTW they were right both times, the problems were the circuit breaker on the heater and a faulty wall receptacle on the dishwasher. They even fixed an electric lawn mower for me that the store that sold it to me said was "unrepairable". I wish all businesses were as good and trustworthy as Rosenau Motor. read more

I agree with all the great reviews others have given for Rosenau Motor. My pool pump motor starting making an ear-splitting whine and fortunately for my neighbors I was home when it started. I stopped the pump, disassembled the motor from it and considered what to do. Buy a new or get the bearings replaced in the existing motor? The last time I needed bearings for a pool pump motor all the pool shops I talked to and a number of electric motor shops all said "buy new, we don't mess with the bearings in those 1 HP to 1 1/2 HP motors anymore". Well, that was a pain for me because the motor windings and the electrics are still good - just the bearings are shot! This time I when I searched for motor repair I saw a Yelp review for Rosenau and checked out the other reviews - I called up the shop and they said bring the motor in and they'd check it out and if it needed bearings they would take care of it as quickly as possible. When I dropped the motor off, Wolfgang greeted me at the counter and was very friendly and helpful and gave me some advice on what to bring with me when I came back for the repaired motor - he could match up the correct seal. The shop is a working shop, no-nonsense and it looks like they are pretty busy but they turned my motor repair in less time than estimated and I am very satisfied. They even gave my ole' motor a blast of black paint to pretty it up a little bit! The cost of the bearing replacement and new seal was fair and reasonable, thus keeping a good motor working and out of the landfill or recycling stream.
