Food was amazing and the server was attentive. We had dinner here the day before yesterday. We had the Italian Festival or something similar to that name for an appetizer. It came with delicious ravioli, cheese sticks and garlic bread. I had lasagna, my husband had something with chicken, and our son had baked ziti Parmesan with chicken. All of us had generous portions, the food was delicious the day we had it, and the leftovers were equally delicious. The chocolate bomb dessert was a great way to cap off the meal. Love this place!! When we are craving Italian food, we always come here and if you see the photos I post on this restaurant, it's their Stuffed Chicken Parmesan! It's my favorite by far, but they have so many great and delicious dishes to choose from. This is a family owned business and a very nice family. The service has always been great and the atmosphere here can be anything you would want. It can be a casual night out with friends, or a romantic date night, to a celebration! We love the open kitchen and to see them cook and the open fired oven cooking pizza. The bread and salad to start out a meal is always tasty and I love their salad. It's simple, with their house dressing and it's cold! I love very cold salad. Delicious bread and butter, then whatever your entree is. If, and I mean if, you have room after your meal, ask about their desserts. They bring a tray out of what they have and two things I may order is their Tiramisu or, if they have any left, the Lemon Cake.... it's soooo delicious. Recommended by long time Windham folks, we went last week. Really good food. Great pizza for my wife and her friend, and I had the Veal Parmesan with spaghetti on side. It was HUGE! Delicious from first bite to last, I was not deterred by the size. Almost as BG as the plate. They don't skimp. Salad was fresh and the ladies had a couple of nice glasses of wine. The food is fabulous!! The portions immense!! Do yourself a favor and share a plate. For $8, you can split the protein and both have a salad! We started our meal with the shrimp scampi appetizer which was served with garlic bread. Then we each got our own veal parmigiana with a side of pasta. Let me say right off that the food is consistently good. We've been going there a few times per month for three years and haven't had a bad meal. The problem I have with the restaurant is the inconsistent service and the early closure of the kitchen. We have been sat in the back dining room and ignored before because servers tend to pander to tables who drink. We have gotten up and fetched our own silverware and refilled our waters ourselves. We chalked it up to inexperienced servers, and still came back. Subsequent visits have been much better. Tonight we drove from Portland and were turned away. We arrived at 8pm and the restaurant advertises that they are open until 9pm. We were informed that the kitchen closes at 8pm on a Saturdays. It has really soured us on the restaurant for good. If you don't feed folks after 8pm, be up front about it. read more

Rather charmless service. Server looked as though she didn't want to have anything to do with me. Didn't introduce herself, forgot about my water, monotonously told me "actually we're out of oregano" after asking if I wanted it... looking around the room the other servers seemed much friendlier. The hostess (or the person working at the front register) seemed flustered. I guess a lot of orders were coming in so I know she was busy, but when she ran my card she had to run it twice because she put in the wrong number the first time. The pizza was actually okay. Finally tried this place for the first time today. Been meaning to for years and it was outstanding. Wife and kids had chicken masala and chicken Alfredo both of which were killer and I had the Vincenzo's Delight pizza which was out of this world good! You could tell all the sauces were homemade and that nicely seasoned ground beef on the pizza was by far the tastiest I've had. When you order ground beef on a pizza at most places you get some highly processed kibble or an afterthought from the freezer but man not here. The Italian festival was over cooked and had very little flavor. The pizza was also lacking in flavor and sauce. The seafood broil was odd, the seafood was cooked well but the flavor of the sauce was over powering lemon and not enough garlic. I'm sorry, but...no. I freely admit, as someone with italian heritage, my standards are set higher. I also did restaurant work 6 years, so i cut slack based on reality. We shared the italian festival sampler (garlic bread, mozzarella sticks, and fried ravioli) plus a pasta entree each from the lunch menu. Each pasta came with salad. Apps: garlic bread was clearly margarine based. Not bad, but better can be found. Mozzarella sticks: meh, chunky and short. Edible but not preferred. Fried ravioli: if you fry a thing and it tastes both baked and undercooked...that's a fail. Marinara dip cup: relatively good actually. I make my own to be fair, but this was not too sweet or bitter. Some veg chunks and over a fine profile of flavours. Salad: combined into 1 large container. (If we hadn't wanted to share? If 1 person was taking their food away from ours?) The oil dressing was not flavored at all. PASS Marsala on linguine: wife wasn't thrilled. Marsala has mushrooms so my allergy makes it a no go to try. Chicken pesto on linguini: yikes...just...no. the chicken was cooked and relatively moist. What the hell was that sauce tho? It had the ingredients of a pesto but absolutely drowning in oil. Everything about Rose's was pleasant. The lady who answered the phone to take the order was happy to answer my questions. Once I placed my order and was greeted by her during my pickup, her friendliness continued. As I waited for my food to be done, the cook would glance over and throw me a smile. It was a warm and inviting atmosphere at a time where people are anxious. (I ordered while it's take out only, due to the COVID-19.) The food did not disappoint in taste. Our chicken broccoli Alfredo pizza was one of the best I've had. It was sloppy and hard to pick up but I had no trouble finding ways to get it in my mouth. The bruschetta appetizer was also delicious but not my idea of a traditional bruschetta. It was cooked so it basically tasted like a cheesy garlic bread topped with tomatoes. In my mind, bruschetta is served on toasted Italian bread and frizzed with a balsamic reduction. There was none of that. It was served with a marinara sauce. Like I said, it was good, but not what I was expecting. Overall, the food was delicious. I did think it was a bit pricey though. The large pizza cost me $22 and the appetizer was around $10. Showed up at 8:10pm on a Sunday night and was told by the hostess that "they were closed for the night" despite their hours being listed as open until 9pm. The dining room had plenty of people still eating, as well as open tables. Kitchen crew was clearly still cooking as visible through the kitchen windows. Seemed like teenage staff just wanted to get out early. Senior management should be keeping a better eye on how this business is run. We drove 30 minutes to get there. 1st timers. Short wait on a Saturday Night. They serve alcohol, but do not have a bar. The house salad with the secret dressing is a variation of an oil and vinegar, but oh so delicious. I had the chicken/eggplant parmesan. The sauce is much sweeter than what I am used to, but I loved it. Stella beers only $6. Good service. The wood fired pizza looked delicious. After a 2 hour drive, she said "let's go for a lobster roll" yet as we were driving she talked about the "BEST" Italian Restaurant in Maine. Well why aren't we going there? We changed direction and headed to Rose's Italian. Walked in to total chaos. The take-out orders were lined up on a table, people lingering everywhere, the hostess station had 3 people behind it doing the best they could. One of the them was answering the phones, directing staff, handling take-outs, and never stopped smiling or being kind to people. I asked her if she was an owner and she said "No, I've been the hostess for 10 months". Because the kitchen was short staffed, they stopped seating people for about 1 hour so they could catch up. I was STARVING but if it's the best, it must be worth the wait. IT ABSOULTEY 100% WAS. We both got the Chicken Parm with linguini. It was seriously fantastic. The sauce was on the thinner side but had a weight to it because of their magic. (I don't cook, I have no idea what was in it, but it was sweet and delicious). The chicken was fork tender and was DEE-LIGHTFUL Our server had a million other people she was serving yet she was super kind and really seemed to love her job. We don't drink so the check was going to be for 2 meals and a couple of sodas, yet she didn't blink an eye that she might not make as much money on our ticket vs someone else's. As we were leaving I asked what the best time would be to call for a take-out order on Friday (following day). The hostess said that I could call as early as when they open but give a few hours notice and she would make sure it was ready to be picked up when I arrived (some of the take-out orders had to wait more than an hour on Thursday). I called on Friday for pick up at 4:30. After picking it up (it was ready when I got there) I put it in an insolated shopping bag and drove 2 hours home. I had forewarned my husband and he had the table set and ready to go. OMG IT WAS STILL WARM!!!! We didn't even have to microwave it. It was almost as good as the night before when it was super fresh and hot. HE LOVED IT. Day 3 I reheated the portion I hadn't eaten the night before. It was yummy and held up in the Microwave. Does anybody remember Graziano's in Lisbon? Rose's reminds me a lot of that historic, now demolished, establishment: it's not trendy, it's not creative, it's just straight-forward, old-school American Italian food that's cheap in price but not in taste and the portions are way, way, way too big. It's the kind of place that is unaffected by time and technology, so your chicken parm is gonna be (and taste) exactly the same whether it's 1966 or 2016. And sometimes - in this overwhelming (with new scenes and experimental dishes) foodie world - that's all you really need: something reliable. A friend (shout out to Amanda B) hyped up Rose's enough that a large group dined out recently. How can you not love: + an enormous glass of red wine for just $5.50? + the "Italian Festival" appetizer (for $8ish) that comes with three plump cigar-sized mozzarella sticks, three deep-fried ravioli, and several large (very buttery, perfectly garlicky) pieces of bread? + the option to get a side of ravioli INSTEAD of putting your veal parm or haddock parm on a bed of pasta? + tiramisu you can actually taste the mascapone and espresso in? I admit, I didn't love the eggplant parm I got - it was very, very, very soggy and one note. Also, my partner got the pasta pesto and it was tremendously under-seasoned. I wouldn't get either again, but this place has so much else going for it, that I would definitely still come back (when that craving for heavy, abundant Italian food hits) to try the fettuccine alfredo with broccoli, the vegetable lasagna, or the baked ziti parm - all three of which I know will come out in bathtub sized bowls, served with a neighborly smile, feel good in the belly and soul, and never break the bank. I think the trendy restaurants in Portland have turned me into a spoiled jerk, because my first impression after a pregame wine at Buck's and then dinner at Rose's was "Wow, Windham is so rough!" And it's semi-true. Rose's isn't The Corner Room. It's not a cool place for cocktails and to mingle. But the food and service are pretty great. After some initial confusion at check in, our single server handled our party of 10 flawlessly. The first sign you're not in Kansas (or Portland) anymore are the wine prices. Half of the bottles are $16, and glasses start at $5.50. The $6 pinot noir was perfectly fine. The food menu is overwhelming, consisting of all of the classics, and many dishes I haven't heard of. The Italian Festival appetizer ($7.95) was comprised of Cheese Sticks, Fried Ravioli and Garlic Bread. It was the delicious heart attack that you'd imagine, with the garlic bread being the standout. I always judge Italian restaurants by the most American dish they have, and the Chicken Parm ($17) didn't disappoint. After skipping the free salad that comes with entrees, a massive pile of fried chicken, loaded with gooey cheese but a little light on the sauce, was placed before me. Looking around, the other entrees were equally intimidating. You don't order a meal here; you order meals. My only regret was choosing the solid, but standard penne over cheese ravioli for my side. I didn't know it was an option. We sampled four desserts, including two cheesecakes and an ultra rich chocolate cake. They were good, but I'd guess few people save room for dessert. Rose's probably won't be my new go-to first date spot, but for delicious traditional Italian food, with mega portions and reasonable prices, it's well worth a trip. read more

Wow I wish I could give this place more stars!!! After a long day of moving into our new place in Windham, I searched for the nearest pizza place for an easy dinner and found Rose's. I placed an order for pickup- large cheese pizza and antipasto salad. My partner was the one who went in to pick up the order- she said it was super busy but efficient and the employees were very kind to her. Once she got back with our order, we dug in. WOW, the antipasto salad absolutely blew us away. Worth every penny- this salad was massive and they did not chinse on the protein. The pizza was some of the best pizza we've had in all of Maine- thin crust brick oven pizza cooked to perfection. I'll be thinking about that antipasto salad until next time!! read more

We went to Rose's last night, Nov 1 and it was not good. Server was very nice. Caesar salad was good. The cheese on our pizza was gross. I picked as much of it off as possible. Lots of pepperoni and sausage which was good. Why only 2 stars? We were there at the end of the night. The hostess vacuumed while we were eating. Not a huge powerful vacuum but the noise made it hard to have a conversation. The prices are high for the quality of the food which is mediocre at best. The worst part was the bathroom was absolutely filthy. The floor and the trim looked like it hadn't been truly cleaned in forever. Awful. Hire a cleaning co to do a real cleaning. We were sat right away, great for a Sunday brunch time. We waited about 15-20 minutes before we saw our server. A large party came in after us, and we decided to place our food order with our drink order, as we had more than enough time to view the menu. We ordered our waters, and my 6 year olds small child apple juice along with a veal Parm sub, and a chicken Parm sub, and our children's food. The server came back and said they only had one sub roll left, so my wife changed her order to spaghetti and meatballs instead of the chicken Parm. We politely asked if we could get the spaghetti for the price of the sub, for the inconvenience. The server said "there is absolutely no way I can do that.".... I, myself, have been a chef of fine dining establishments for 25+ years. I've never experienced in that time what happens next. My wife and I decide to cancel our order and head somewhere else, as all we had received was our drinks, water and apple juice, and it had just been about 1 minutes since our server left our table. I run up to the hostess and inform her of our decision and she seems fine with it. I put on my coat and proceed with my children's bags out to the car. I come back in and the server is in the lobby yelling at my wife over the applejuice. Like a cup of applejuice is going to break their bank. My children are there a long with a lobby of guests watching this POS server belittle my wife. At this point, I lost my cool, I took a dollar out of my wallet, threw it on the floor and told the server that's for the applejuice. We turned and walked out. Because this server was so rude and failed to meet customer service standards, she cost her employer about 100$ in revenue. 60$ from what would have been our ticket, and another 40$ from the couple outside we told our story to. So a five dollar difference in price cost this place 100$ and never our business for life. I'm sure they'll thrive on piss poor customer service though, because they serve huge plates of over priced pasta, and about 90 percent of the clientele were over 60 years old. read more
