Fresh fish counter but much longer than this
    Morgan L. C.

Ok so I went there at 1pm on Good Friday which in hindsight probably was not the best idea! It was so busy BUT they are pretty organized with how they run things. You have the shrimp cases on one side, the fresh on another and during crawfish season they have a separate side for that. The folks behind the counter are helpful but take some time to know what you want before you order. This will help everything move along much faster. If you order whole fish you can have it cleaned and cutthere! They'll remove skin and bones too. But if you prefer to clean it yourself that's an option as well. Lots of shrimp options, they've even got clams! There's a frozen section I didn't get to but I saw someone had octopus!! Please also try your stay off your phone when you're at the front of the line to check out. It's a two way dance to make things run smooth you know? Incredibly fresh seafood and it's worth the 45 minute drive for me from Pearland.

    Great selection of fish

My wife and i have been going here for many years. The seafood is always fresh and you can tell the fish cutters how you want the fish. Either skin on or off filets or how you want them to cut it up. The ambiance once you walk in is more of a family fish market. The ladies who are all family members behind the counter are polite, helpful, and always ready to help you. The service is fantastic from the fish cutters to the incredible ladies running the fish counter. Rose's is a great place for crabs, crawfish (when in season), fish, shrimp, and anything seafood. Rose's is the best place to purchase seafood in Seabrook. If you go, your fish cutter Fernando will not disappoint and say hi to Lien and Samantha!

Fresh and friendly service. They also offer things from Louisiana. The pepper jack boudain balls are amazing.

It's time for an update of my review. I haven't been to Rose's seafood market for several years. But, I wanted to get out of houston for a weekend, and going here was the best way to kick off my weekend. I do have to say that driving here was not a fun task. Construction still hasn't been completed on TX-146 and the exit to get to Rose's is very quick and super tight. Their parking lot is a decent size, but also kind of tight. Inside the market, there's tons of fresh seafood to choose from. There's fish, shrimp, crawfish, clams, scallops, etc. As far as COVID-19 precautions go, most people were wearing masks. A few were not. The staff here was rude and didn't acknowledge us when we waved them down to purchase seafood. We came here twice. The first trip was to purchase head on shrimp and clams for a seafood boil while we stayed in Galveston. The shrimp and clams were just ok. They didn't have that sweetness of seafood we were hoping for. So, I wouldn't recommend getting the shrimp or clams. The second trip was on our way back home. We purchased red snapper, flounder, and scallops this time. When we brought them home, we steamed and pan fried the snappers, pan fried the flounders, and sautéed the scallops. Man, the second time's the charm. Everything was delicious! Brimming of the sweetness of seafood in every bite, with the use of just minimal, but aromatic ingredients. The scallops only needed oil for sautéing for 3 minutes total. It didn't even need salt. It was seasoned by the ocean! Soooo good! The fish and scallops were definitely worth the drive down here. My tummy was happy. Overall, the seafood is fresh. It's just certain seafood items were better in my opinion than others. It's worth checking out. Just be prepared for rude customer service. Oh, and bring your own cooler, and they will pack the seafood and ice for you. PS - They can also scale your fish and cut the fins and gills off if you request them to do it.

Big selection of fresh seafood. Kinda busy, but the lines move quickly. It's a good idea to bring a cooler for the drive home. I didn't think of doing this before going, but as we were leaving. I noticed many people with their trunks open filling up their coolers. Next time I'll be prepared, especially since they even offer ice at checkout.

An 8 quart pot full of dead crawfish not including what I placed in the freezer. $80 for this mess? Never again!

Ask the Community - Rose's Seafood

    Do they take Food Stamps?

    Yes

Can I eat the salmon from here raw?

Yes they have sushi grade salmon. Had it this week, very good.

What is their supply of fish like on Monday mornings? I have been going there for years but I normally go on a Thursday or Friday. I am driving from Dallas so I am hoping there are some readers to have gone to Rose's on Mondays.

Kenny I've been there everyday of the week and haven't noticed much difference in products for sale

I told my mum for Christmas I don't want the same ole holiday meat of turkey since I had that for Thanksgiving. I wanted something more tasty: fried fish and shrimp. Preferably a grand tasting fish: Red Snapper. Yup, oh boy yes, that good ole thick and ocean tasting red fish. Upon our arrival, my mum, sister and I walked to this fairly large building with a mountain high of stairs. Once inside the fish market smelled of its native catch and it was strong. However, the owner seen how we crunched our noses up in disgust. She immediately started to ease the smell by cleaning the floors with some mopping solution. That masked the odor a little bit until we left. Anywho, the fishes were laid up eyes open and staring at us. Although, these fish were already dead laying on a bed of ice to keep them fresh. The prices listed were affordable and market by a pound. My mum picked out some gulf shrimp and a few pieces of red snapper. I also seen what tilapia looked like as the fish isn't very pretty, but my mum adores the taste. The Atlantic salmon was beautiful looking. There were many breeds of salmon. The sheepshead fish was definitely cheap and the taste of it is amazingly soft and delicious. I sampled the one my sister caught. We proceeded towards the cash register to pay and as we assumed our meat to be sky high, it actually wasn't. Additionally, when it came Christmas Day, I had myself a full meal of pan-fried red snapper and shrimp. The taste of the red snapper was delicious. For me, I enjoy eating fish that tastes from its natural habitat, it really delights my appetite for more. My dad butterflied the shrimp and wow the taste was incredibly yummy. Consequently, there's plenty of parking. The location is just near the Pier 8 restaurant and on a strip of other fish market competitors. So, choose wisely. Now, I'm glad to say my Houston family visits this fresh market often. No more shopping at Fiesta for freshness.

(Great place, the owners are fantastic, and if you have not been by there, why not? ) Back to the brewery. I was pleasantly surprised by this visit. Perhaps it was because it was after dark, the place was nicely lit, and we sat at the bar. The first time in was in the cold light of day, the place felt like a high school cafeteria and we all turned around and bounced right on out of there. Night time, the cosy lighting, and sitting at the bar with the restaurant (cafeteria feel) behind you is so much better. I found their service lacking for the lack of patrons in the place. Our glasses were empty for far longer than they should have been and we had to wait on our check to leave. The servers did appear to have great conversations with each other at the other end of the bar. Perhaps being more mindful of their customers would be more appropriate. The pluses are the Blueberry Blonde was as good as I remembered and we were introduced to Celtic Cross mead which led to a visit to their meadery. Would I come back? Yes. Whenever I feel called upon to partake of a Blueberry Blonde and when it is evening to avoid that high school cafeteria feel of the place.
