Amazing biscuits and gravy with light, fluffy biscuits & the gravy not too heavy. It's hard to find a place that gets the biscuits right and they do. Crispy hash browns. Great old school breakfast/brunch place where they refill your coffee often. I loved Benny's Omelet. The owner Rose and her friend run it and they're are a lot of fun, been working together for 25 years.

A friend and I stopped by here on our way home from picking up a fridge in OC. There was a long line, so we thought, it has to be good right?! Even with the line, the ladies were very efficient at getting us in and Seated as fast as possible. There were only 2 lovely ladies working/running the resteraunt. I had their infamous cinnamon roll and ny friend had the Denver omelet with biscuits and gravy on the side. I also had a mimosa. The place itself is very tiny. The bathroom feels like you are literally in a closet But it does have a home- e feeling to it. Shot out to Rose for making my cinnamon roll with Love. I tasted it for sure!

This adorable cafe is full of history and charm, and seems frozen in time. We were staying next door to attend a wedding, and came here for breakfast. They have indoor and outdoor seating, serve breakfast all day and also have beer/wine. The server (I think she was Rose? Not sure?) was super kind and personable. She remembered me from coming in for to-go coffee the day before, and had good stories as a San Clemente local. The warmth and hospitality isn't something you see too often. I accidentally left a jacket on my chair after breakfast, and when another party came in and said they were staying in the area for a wedding, she asked if they knew me and could return the jacket (they were family of ours!) So thoughtful! I ordered the San Onofre omelet (spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes, cream cheese, avocado) and Paul G. ordered the corned beef and hash plate. We also split a cinnamon roll after hearing about how good they were, and I got a mimosa. The food was delicious! My hash browns were super crispy on the outside, which I love, and the omelet was loaded. I had to take most of it home. My only not-so-positive opinion about this place is how pricey it was! A fruit salad was $15, and a good number of the breakfast dishes were over $20. Maybe this is a touristy area, but I rarely see breakfast prices that high. I'm not docking stars because the rest of our experience was awesome and I love small, locally-owned places like these. We need to keep them around!

Denver omelet covered in melted cheese and homemade delicious salsa! I loved the wheat toast!

We enjoyed our breakfast! I had a Denver omelette and it was phenomenal with melted cheese on top And their famous salsa which I poured on top! Also had their fruit cup with watermelon. Cantalope And honeydew! My husband had bacon eggs and hash browns! Everything was cooked perfect! You can get a mimosa it Bloody Mary etc if interested! Nancy brought us right in And served us up with her hospitality and stories! Feel like we've known her all our lives! Will definitely be back soon! Did I mention their salsa is award winning?!! Great little shack! Loved the ambiance!

Rise recommended the chorizo/corned beef hash breakfast burrito and it did not disappoint! Very flavorful and worth it. Large portions. Staff were friendly and service was quick. 10-min wait. Family friendly atmosphere!

Awesome find!! Cinnamon roll was AMAZING and coffee was hot n fresh! Excellent service, cute little local spot. We came on a Friday morning around 8AM but was awesome to chat with Rose, she's amazing! Runs a lovely little cafe!

We loved the sugar shack! Rose met Monty and I during our walk and gave him a treat- we came back for breakfast and again she's the sweetest- brought him water and 3 more treats. We had hot, fresh and strong coffee and delicious breakfasts... eggs over medium were cooked perfectly, hot cakes were perfectly crisp on the outside and came with all the sauces and fixings!

Stopped here on my way back to San Diego and was greeted by the most charming lady. She was more than accommodating to get me everything I needed! The two style eggs, hash brown, and biscuit for $10 was a no brainer! I rarely leave reviews but this was a great way to start my day with this customer service and food. All around 10/10!!!!

Decided to check out this place for breakfast. We stopped by on a Sunday morning, it wasn't that busy surprisingly. We sat down and unfortunately it took awhile to be addressed or have menus brought to us. I had to get up and ask. However, once the menus were brought out, the service drastically changed. The waitress knew it was our first time so she suggested some popular items off the menu. She particularly highlighted the cinnamon roll, so we decided to try it. It was indeed huge, however most of us thought the bread was dry and could have been softer. I ordered one of the biscuit specials. I thought it was sufficient, could have had a little bit more flavor. The hasbrowns were perfectly crispy though. Others in my group got French toast and said it was good as well. Throughout our dining, the servers stopped by and made sure everything was ok and was super nice and talkative. However, we agreed that we thought other breakfast places in San Clemente were better.

Bloody Mary (olives not pictured we had already ate them both)

The first move is you walk in and order at the counter, the line moves quickly and the girl who took our order was very knowledgeable and friendly. You can tell these employees are trained well. They give you a number and you grab a table. We were there on a Saturday night at 6:45 and we had no problems getting a table. Pro tip: Order beers & appetizers at the counter and then hang and have a couple of drinks and order dinner with your waitress. The food: Tallow Fries - Must order, the best fries you'll ever have. With the homemade ketchup good lawd! We got 2 baskets for 4 of us. We should have gotten 3 baskets. Coastal smash - 2 Pattie's, no seed oil sauce, pickles, onions, cheese on a fabulous brioche style bun. My wife LOVED this. Brisket tacos - An absolute winner. Smokey, salty, tangy, plenty of umami with cilantro and pickled onions. Fire! The only thing i would have loved was some sort of salsa. Maybe there was and I missed it. Caesar salad wrap chicken - this was a sleeper hit. My daughter is a Caesar salad conissuer and this was right up her ally. And with avocado oil Caesar dressing, no garbage! Comeon. Grilled fish tacos - very fresh and good. I think there was a sauce but these were dry. It needed more sauce and some salsa. Mind you the quality was there, so I had no problem eating them. But they were a bit bland honestly. 10/10 friendly service 10/10 easability if ordering and seating. 9/10 Food This will become one of our favorite family spots no doubt. Thank you Coastal Cowboy for caring enough to be seed oil free and health conscious with your cuisine.

This place is so cute!!!…read more The food was really good and the buns are excellent. My only issue, was that the veggie burger made me super gassy, which is not the fault of the restaurant at all- they did what they are supposed to do- make the food I ordered, make good suggestions, and let me enjoy their beautiful patio happily- hence 5 stars... but man... the farts. That was surprising. They had a bunch of housemade sauces. I would not suggest the homemade ketchup. It's more like a homemade tomato sauce, which is a weird thing to dip fries into. As for the rest of the sauces, I would for sure pour them into my mouth. And a hard yes to the strawberry shake. That tasted like it was made from actual strawberries.

I can't recommend them enough. I love that they both always taste fresh and delicious. I would include a photo, but every time I order them, they are gone in a flash. Service is done with a smile and a friendly energy. As far as ambiance, I'd say it's like a casual beachside kinda joint. (in my opinion anyway, ofc) I've been a loyal diner here for the last 10 years, and I'll keep coming back.

Just very very casual and not totally comfortable. Food- 3.4/4 out of 5 - I got the Luau plate and LOVED the chicken!! Everyone else was right- that chicken thigh deserves its own plate. I also really enjoyed the coconut pudding/jello thing that came with it and the sausage link. The pulled pork was just okay, not very well seasoned but not bad. The side of "dressed greens" was just some lettuce without dressing on it, and I thought the macaroni salad was fine. The last thing that really disappointed me were the sautéed veggies :/ they were just soo oily and had no seasoning to them at all. I didn't eat any of them or the un-dressed 'salad'. My husband got the chicken katsu plate, he said the chicken katsu was fine but the fries on the side were cold and not crispy, they were kind of chalky in the mouth and didn't taste fresh. Some parts were definitely a 3/5 but my chicken thigh was so good and the portions are *huge* so I feel like they deserve a 4/5? All in all, I think I'd come back if I wanted to go out with someone but save some money and we'd split one of the plates (the portions really are huge).
