Exactly what downtown Gilbert needed! I've been to Rosewood twice since opening because I had to come back and try more of the menu and honestly, everything has been incredible. The atmosphere, the crew, the cocktails, the food... it all just feels like such a great addition to downtown Gilbert. Perfect for date night, celebrations or just to go sit at the bar! Not to mention they are open full service menu until midnight Friday and Saturday! Let's start with the cocktails because WOW. I have been waiting for a place in downtown Gilbert that genuinely cares about high-quality, creative craft cocktails, and Rosewood absolutely knocked this menu out of the park. Every bartender we've interacted with has been phenomenal and so personable -- Manny, Kate, and Haley were a few and were all amazing. Even Tate, the beverage director, came out to introduce himself and make sure our experience was memorable. That kind of hospitality goes a long way. Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with the cocktail menu, all their cocktails are SO creative but the ones I tried so far that are personal standouts were the Pulp Fiction, El Dorado, and Desert Rose. They also let us sample the frozen rosé, and it was PERFECT on the hot night we were there, so delicious. For apps, the shishito peppers were hands-down the best I've ever had, as in I low-key went back a second time because I was craving them! We also tried the Brussels, heirloom carrots, and gameballs, and everything was delicious and the perfect amount to share. The Drunken Carini (their take on a Caesar salad) was HUGE and delicious and another perfect option to share. For entrées, my winners were the lobster linguine, king salmon, and Beer Can't Chicken. I could genuinely eat any of those on any day of the week and be happy. My friend really enjoyed the bison short ribs with the polenta! And then the coconut cake... INCREDIBLE. I had to stop myself from eating the entire thing, which is saying a lot because I'm not even a huge coconut person.. trust me when I say you need to finish the night with this!! (Wish I had taken more pictures of everything). As someone born and raised in Arizona, specifically the East Valley, I've gotten pretty tired of always having to drive into Phoenix for really great food and craft cocktails. I'm SO happy Rosewood is here, and I really hope this sets a new tone for what downtown Gilbert can be. It feels like exactly the kind of place the area has been missing. Congratulations to the owners and the entire team on such a great restaurant. I'll definitely be back! Can't wait for the weather to cool down to use their incredible patio space! P.S. -- Bad Honey is the cookie shop located inside Rosewood, and holy cow... their cookies are SO good and so fresh. I got to meet the owner, Chandler, and she was the sweetest. Rosewood really impressed me, not just with the food, but with the overall experience. The Gameballs were so good, and the bourbon blueberry BBQ sauce that comes with them is perfect. Definitely something I'd order again. Their take on Bolognese pasta was also so good. What impressed me most was the service. It seems like a lot of new restaurant concepts have forgotten what it means for the front-of-house team to bring the wow factor and create a great experience. These days, you come across a lot of order takers. There's a big difference between simply taking someone's order and actually knowing how to create an experience for your guests. The team at Rosewood gets it. The service was attentive and genuine, and you could tell they actually cared about the experience we were having. That kind of hospitality makes a difference and is a big reason I'll be back. Also, this is a great date-night spot. Rosewood is DWTN Gilbert's newest restaurant with their grand opening today, 8/21. This restaurant concept comes from the team behind Aftermath Bar & Kitchen and owners of Born & Bred. It truly is more of a soft opening, per their GM, but nonetheless they are open for business! They also have a small corner of their restaurant that is called Bad Honey, which is a cookie bar opened/ran by the owners wife. Their GM, Ali, is so kind, as is the rest of the staff/servers. They were very welcoming and the way they redecorated the space, which was previously Lo-Lo's, was beautiful from the dark tones to bistro-like lights and feel. I never like writing negative or bad reviews, but unfortunately the food and drinks were just "okay". The food lacked flavor and we ordered old fashioned drinks which were (a) not considered a "classic cocktail" per their menu and (b) felt like it was missing syrup or something that makes it feel like a true old fashioned. Luckily, they had a large single ice cube but the drinks felt watered down. We were also asked upon ordering if we wanted to add on a maraschino cherry to our drinks, which was surprising as we never had to add one before, it's just part of the cocktail. The Whipped Ricotta appetizer was good, but WAY too many olives. It felt like a full jar of olives compared to the smear of ricotta we received. The restaurant took care of the appetizer given our dislike of the meal. Our entree, Beer Can't Chicken, was good but lacked flavor. The chicken was tender but mashed potatoes tasted like instant potatoes. The salad we ordered, Farmer's Chop, was good but not a true chopped salad as you would think considering the name. Dressing was tasty! For two old fashioned drinks, one appetizer, one salad, and one entree, our tab came out to $90+ originally. Their checks were a bit uncommon as it showed a cash vs. credit card total with the cash total giving a customer a slight discount. Due to the GM taking care of our appetizer, our total came down by about $20. So, I will say this is a pricier dinner option for the area. Because this is their grand opening, I'd like to come back in the future to try again and hope for a better overall experience. Wishing them luck in their first weeks of service! read more

Was excited to try a new restaurant in downtown Gilbert that just opened this week. Menu is pretty simple and I've got to say we were very impressed with the freshness of the ingredients. We were told nothing is ever frozen and I feel like you can definitely taste the difference. Lots of wait staff and water cups stayed full. The lighting could be a bit brighter. (I say that as a millennial, so maybe younger generations feel differently.) On the way out we got eight cookies for the price of sixthat will probably last us a month! They are so huge. read more

Charming Ambiance, Creative Menu, and Room to Grow The Rosewood delivers a cozy, beautifully decorated ambiance with a distinct "take me away" feel from the moment you step inside. Combined with a waiter who was welcoming, attentive, and genuinely delightful, it set a wonderful backdrop for a relaxing dinner. I will definitely be back. The menu leans interesting and a little daring. Appetizers: We started with the Game Balls and the Brussels sprouts. While game meats aren't my personal preference--the trifecta of bison, venison, and boar isn't for me--the rest of the table absolutely raved about the flavor. The Brussels sprouts were a hit all around: tender, lightly sweet, and perfectly balanced with salty bacon. Mains: I ordered the salmon (well done) and was delighted by both the taste and presentation. It was served over a bed of crispy potatoes layered with harvest vegetables and super grains, all finished with a delicious molasses-lime glaze. Everyone else at the table thoroughly enjoyed their main courses as well. Drinks & Dessert: The bar keeps things fairly basic, and while the wine list could use a bit more variety, it covers all the essential bases. We finished the evening by grabbing warm, fresh-from-the-oven snickerdoodles and chocolate chips on our way out--a sweet touch that let us walk off our meal while enjoying dessert. For the price point and the hype surrounding this new restaurant opening, my expectations were high. Unfortunately, Rosewood did not give what needed to be given. We ordered the 'gameballs' appetizer, the bison short rib, and the king salmon. The meatballs were bland and incredibly dry. The congealed, overpowering blueberry barbecue sauce was no help with this. The smothering of sauce on the short rib was equally disappointing, though at least the meat was tender. The king salmon is hardly worth mentioning, it did not stand out from the crowd. The plating and pairings of the entrees were confusing, both visually and gastronomically. Service from the host stand and from the owner who spoke with us was excellent. Other interactions left much to be desired. The space inside looked and felt crowded and the volume level was cacophonous. Sadly, this new restaurant is not worth a return visit from me. read more

My husband and i came here last night to celebrate our 32nd anniversary. We were seated promptly and our waiter (Jake) was at our table within 2 minutes to greet us, wish us a "happy anniversary", answer any questions we had about the menu and to take our drink order. My husband had an Old Fashioned. He said it was good (he had two) and he is always impressed when it is properly served with one large ice cube. We enjoyed the whipped ricotta with olives - i love olives. I ordered the short rib and my husband ordered the chicken. Both were good however i liked my short rib better than the chicken. We declined ordering a dessert as we both were full after our meal (i took half of my meal home). Jake was friendly and attentive but not overly. The manager stopped by our table to thank us for coming in and to make certain all was well. He also wished us a "happy anniversary". Rosewood has been open for almost a week but we already know we will be back again. read more

I was looking forward to trying this restraint, and was excited to hear there was a new addition to downtown Gilbert. The cocktails were reasonably priced and all of the hosts were incredibly kind. Unfortunately, the food made me and one of my companions sick. We ordered different dishes to try so I'm not sure what the culprit was. The meatballs we ordered were gelatinous, the ricotta and bread were incredibly bland, and the side order of carrots were both cold and undercooked. For the price point of the food, I was expecting better. I hope this is considered a soft opening, and the menu is tweaked. I love to support local businesses and think a few changes could make a lot of difference. read more

Very disappointing experience. We were excited to try this restaurant but won't be returning. We ordered chickpeas and olives as appetizers, followed by the "Beer Can't Chicken" and a "special" NY strip steak. First, our order was sent to the wrong table, and that table kept half of our meal before the mistake was caught--so we only received the steak portion. The chicken dish didn't arrive until 10-12 minutes later. Second, and more disappointing, the food itself was bland (the mashed potatoes were the exception), and the $60 steak was so full of gristle that it was nearly impossible to cut. I ended up leaving half of it on the plate. The staff seemed completely unaffected by our experience. Given that the team behind the restaurant has restaurant experience, I hope they are still operating in a "soft" opening mindset and are not set in their meal quality and experience. read more

We recently visited this brand-new restaurant and really enjoyed the beautiful ambiance and very good service. There is clearly a lot of potential here. We did have a couple of disappointments. Our charcuterie board was advertised with three cheeses but arrived with only one. After we mentioned it, our server apologized and brought an additional cheese, which we appreciated. More importantly, I specifically informed our server of my food allergy and ordered an item that, according to the menu, did not contain the ingredient I am allergic to. Unfortunately, the dish arrived containing that ingredient. We were told that the restaurant frequently changes ingredients, but those changes need to be accurately reflected on the menu and clearly communicated to the staff, especially when allergies are involved. Thankfully, my allergy is not anaphylactic, but this could have been a very serious situation for another guest. I asked to speak with the manager simply to make him aware of what happened so it could hopefully be prevented for other patrons. He was apologetic, but unfortunately, no other accommodation was offered. Overall, we enjoyed the atmosphere and service, and I hope the restaurant takes this feedback constructively and improves communication between the kitchen, servers, and guests when it comes to food allergies. read more

My wife and I visited here tonight and the experience was outstanding. They are still in their soft opening but I wouldn't have known it if they didn't mention it. The service, atmosphere and food were all very good. The hostess was welcoming, the server asked questions and made recommendations and the manager came by to check on us. The Shito peppers were an excellent app to start, the corn chowder was tasty and the lobster linguini was delicious. And don't forget the cookies from Bar Honey on the way out. Last night we attended the soft open for Rosewood and are thrilled to have this new concept in downtown Gilbert. The staff, the food, the cocktails and vibes are incredible! Our party raved about the Brussel sprouts (multiple repeat orders), the burger and the cookies from its bakery concept Bad Honey inside of the restaurant. Great new Gilbert restaurant. Started with the Heirloom Carrots appetizer with pesto and Brussels were a delicious start. I had the Bison Short Ribs which were presented well and seasoned just right. The coconut cake was fantastic. Rosewood also has a long list of specialty cocktails. The Nut Your Average Flip is a bourbon drink with Pistachio and heavy cream that was quite tasty. We also bought a few cookies from the adjoining bakery at the entrance that were going fast and were excellent. Can't wait for the patio to open as the weather gets cooler. We came in for dinner on a Friday night to try out this new spot in the historic Gilbert district. They have been open a few short weeks and are still working out the kinks. The bar service was attentive and creative. The bartenders were knowledgeable and offered great suggestions. Extensive and out of the ordinary drink menu. Blue cheese stuffed olives were made on site, so refreshing for a dirty martini. We had the game balls and they were perfectly cooked for bison. We moved to a table for dinner. It was a bit loud and we were told they are working on acoustics. Try the salmon. The combination with the hash browns, blend of mushrooms tomatoes and cous cous werefantastic. Suprising and delightful blend of flavor. Wine selection was broad. We felt the service was slow and we weren't turned off because of the recent start....we will be back when the patio opens in another month. Grabbed a lemon cookie on the way out.
