Breakfast is like home cooking. Fast and friendly service . One of the biggest thing that stands out to me is that my coffee cup and the family drinks never made it to half empty. So this is a pretty standard breakfast spot. The hash is from a can and the flavors of other meals is just ok. Most meals are around $7-$10. What I really thought was crazy is that I ordered a blueberry pancake on the side and they charged $5.50 for one pancake!!! That's ridiculous when a stack of them or a meal with them was only a buck or two more. I won't be returning, mainly because of the food. read more

After a long day on the road (out on a motorcycle tour) was looking for a good meal before checking into my motel. Rosie's did not disappoint! Great selection, generous portions, good prices. If you're looking for something that is along the lines of home cooking, this is the place to be. Had the pulled pork dinner and was very pleased with all of it. I've eaten here many times of the years either with friends that live in the area or just traveling through and I've always been happy with the service and the food. Once I came in off of my motorcycle in the pouring rain and it was nice to find that there was room to hang my dripping motorcycle suit. Not criteria for most folks, I know. I highly recommend dinner/lunch. my boyfriend took me on a date and we decided to go to Rosie's, no wait at all. kind lady in at the front desk and our waitress was so friendly! she even laughed when she saw my face when the food came out. haha I was like "woooww". couldn't eat all my food and got to take some home for later. course, my boyfriend ate all his! she always checked to see if we were doing okay and if we needed anything and made sure nothing was wrong, and not a long wait on food either. warm and fresh. she got a good tip that night! love this place and will be back!! read more

This was my second visit to Rosie's and I really like this place! The atmosphere is fun, lots of room, the staff are all delightful, the menu isn't too huge, the food is reasonably priced, and the portions are huge. Both times I had to box leftovers. The first time I had chicken parm pasta and this time spaghetti and meatballs and a cup of clam chowder. I was so pleased. It's really hard to find places that do a comfort food spaghetti and meatball supper affordable. Middlebury are like lucky! read more

I've been going to Rosie's for 20 years. I'd like to say it's great but it's been going downhill. We just paid $17.99 for a large pile of romaine with some parmesan and croutons and 9 medium/small shrimp. Yikes! That price was ludicrous. The meatloaf was sub par and everything my family had was so/so at best. On a positive note, if you want a burger fries and shake it's pretty good for an OK price. And the inside is cozy. read more

A recommendation from one of the kind ladies at the University of Vermont Morgan Horse Farm, we drove a couple of miles out of our route for a great lunch. The all-you-can-eat fish and chips was the lunch special for the day. My husband chose the bbq pulled pork and went with the fish and chips, which worked out perfect because he could try a little, too. The fish was delicious - a breaded, light white fish, it had great taste and wasn't over battered or heavy. The bbq was very good, too, but lots of food for lunch. Rosie's is a great little diner to bring the family to, and features some nice twists on old classics, particularly with its open face sandwiches such as the turkey and meatloaf. The turkey sandwich in particular features chunky pieces of pulled turkey rather than just sliced deli meat, and is topped with stuffing and cranberry sauce. I'm also a big fan of there chicken and biscuits. I would recommend avoiding items such as there spaghetti, which is cooked just 20 minutes past al dente and tastes like it might have come out of a can. Otherwise, the service is also friendly (per my experience till now), and they are very tolerant of young children (which may be good or bad depending on your perspective). read more

The place was full for dinner so understandable they were busy but it took at least an hour from the time we ordered to the time we got the food. Food was good, but not worth the wait (you can add the time it took to be seated, place order, etc.). I'm usually OK if someone manages my expectations or provide some updates. You can always count on Rosie's for a decent meal. They are dependable with their food quality whether you go for breakfast or dinner. My breakfast favorite is the Foster's 4x4 which is 2 bacon, 2 eggs, 2 sausage and 2 pancakes. Their pancakes with real maple syrup are fantastic. My husband likes the Stones Corn for breakfast which is their corned beef hash and eggs. My dinner favorite us their pulled turkey dinner which comes with turkey and all the fixin's. Ask to be seated in the quilt room which features handmade quilts be local quilters. As a local, I love Rosie's restaurant. The food isn't gourmet, but if it comes out not to your liking, they will gladly fix it for you. The wait staff is wonderful, lovely people, who will chat you up and become your friends. I love having coffee with the local people mid-afternoon. The coffee is delicious. The scallops, deep-fried, are as good as coastal seafood, and their french fries, served extra crispy, are to die for. Their burgers and homemade cole slaw are delicious. I have never found the service to be that slow, and I enjoy the comfortable booths and jovial atmosphere. Don't expect gourmet at a inexpensive coffee-house-type diner. Stopped here for a late dinner while traveling home from Burlington. I got the chicken and biscuits and my travel companion got the fish and chips. Service was prompt and friendly. The chicken and biscuits was delicious with light flaky biscuits, big chunks of chicken and a mix of veggies in a white gravy. It came with a side of cranberry sauce that was really good. The fish and chips were also good with a big portion and crispy fries. Prices were really reasonable. My companion had recommended this restaurant after eating there a few weeks before and said the sandwiches, especially the burgers were also very tasty. Stopped in for a coffee milk shake with my mom and was taken care of by the best waitress I have ever met - Lacie! She made our shakes perfect and even let us keep our ice cream we had just bought at the grocery store in their freezer to keep it from melting. We were delighted to find Rosie's after a week on the road. This felt like coming home. Friendly faces, comfortable well lit and quiet surroundings, good food with reasonable servings, and good fair pricing. We 3 opted for chicken Parmesan (chose the small serving and it was plenty for an adult), beef tips (cooked exactly as requested in a tasty sauce) and beef liver (laugh or be disgusted, this dish is difficult to prepare well and is the sign of a skilled chef). Everything was hot, quickly served, and very tasty. Dessert was toll house pie warmed and with Ice cream (as suggested by our friendly and competent server, Lacey) We might just g back for breakfast tomorrow! read more
