Well back again, a month later. Last time we had 14 people, this time 18. What an awesome meal! I had my usual, Navajo egg rolls and my wife had menudo with added carnita's. The menudo was very simillar to my homemade version, it was a pretty good size bowl and really had great flavor. The tripe was cooked perfectly in my opinion. I can't begin to describe the deliciousness of that Navajo egg roll. It's egg roll wrappers filled with seasoned ground beef, potatoes, freshly diced jalapeno's and onions, then deep fried. Served with beans, rice, a cup of green chili , and a little bit of rabbit food as garnish. My brother and sister-in-law had the Pablito (stuffed sopapilla) with shredded beef and extra cheese. Now I know what I'm getting next time, YUP, stuffed sopapilla. They were a thing of beauty! This place even serves fried bologna with eggs and potatoes. The waiter was awesome, with that many people he keeped his cool and provided us with great food and excellent service.They gave us separate bills for 5 different families which most places have a heart attack over. By far the WORST mexican restaurant I have ever been to. This is the kind of restaurant that makes Casa Bonita's food seem 5 stars. Don't get me wrong, the staff was friendly and service was excellent. But the food... THE FOOD!! The ground beef tasted legit like 3 day old taco bell, and the chicken tasted like 3 day old KFC! "Guacamole" was just cut up avocado. Green chile had a decent amount of meat but again it tasted old and dried out, not spicy even though I ordered "extra hot". All in all, I will not be going back to this restaurant and would never recommend it. read more

Rosita here we go... Rosita's is "It'l Do" Mexican Food, i.e., average. I have been here several times and tried almost everything on the menu. My only complaint about this place is that it is inconsistent, one time you will have a very very great meal, then the next time it will be mediocre. The prices have jumped up a little since the last time I've been here. The atmosphere is nice as well as a decent wait staff. They tend to be busy on Sat and Sun mornings. My Favorite Mexican food in town is Camargo's 44th wyndot in Denver. They make their own flour tortillas (hot & fresh ) fresh homemade green chile...and they are always always consistent! Worst "mexican" place I have ever been to. Where to even start. The chips were stale, and I'm pretty sure they were just Tostitos bought from the grocery store. The basket they brought was half full and The salsa tasted like they just poured store bought salsa into the bowl. We finished the half full basket of stale chips and never got a refill even after our waitress came back and looked and saw it was empty. Water glasses were never refilled even though she walked by several times. There was also only 6 other people in the entire place, so it wasn't poor service because they were busy, which would be understandable. Food was very overpriced and not flavorful. My entire family has been sick for 3 days after eating at this restaurant. I call and speak with a manger to let her know they need to check their food and she hands the food over to the owner. The owner tells me the Deal with it because it's not something I can prove they are responsible for and if I have a problem with them I need to call the Health Dept. to come check them out becuase nothing will happen to them unless 20 people call to let them know they are sick as well then she hung up on me. Never once did anyone apologize or show any interests that their food is making people ill. The owner is rude and disrespectful, the service sucked and 5 people in my family ended up with food poising including my kids and no one there cared at all. As noted in the first review, the Navajo egg rolls are a must. Crisp, meaty, zesty, and delicious. One warning - they come out hot. Like, really hot. Bite carefully. We've been coming to Rositas for years! Can not beat their breakfast potatoes and GREEN CHILI. Love their salsa and always fast service. It's definitely one of our family's go to spots. Have had problems with my orders being wrong here. I don't eat cheese, so that can be an issue at a Mexican restaurant. So I try to understand, however several times my order was wrong and my husband was already done with his food by the time mine was fixed. So we both ate alone. Today we ordered breakfast burritos, they were listed on the menu as EGG, potato, and meat. Neither burrito had much egg at all. Matter of fact I opened my burrito to give some of my egg to my husband as he loves eggs and I could not find any. He told the waitress this really doesn't have any egg can I get one scrambled egg. Waited while food got cold, but finally got an egg. We got the bill. $2.25 for ONE egg. Totally overpriced when all we were asking for is to get what was originally ordered. I have found in past it does no good to complain, nothing is ever done to compensate for THEIR errors. I will not be coming back. Nothing changes here. read more

Nice atmosphere, very good service, but, as is mentioned in another review, kind of uninspired. My combo plate came without rice and beans. The Enchilada was gloopy, but decent. The Chile Relleno was a hunk of fried, drippiness with almost no chile, and little else. The Guacamole Tostada was about a C-. Used to live in CO over 10 years ago and always enjoyed going to Rositas when in town. We went to dinner here this week while on vacation here visiting family and had the worst experience ever. Service was way slow and notice no prices on drink or menu list. We were told it was happy hour and all drinks where 1/2 price. When we received our check the showing 3 beers it showed each beer $4.64 - .50 cent NOT 50% off the waitress told us. So each beer cost us $4.14! In addition our water never got refilled, our food took forever to come, the food was cold and their customer service was rude and unprofessional. We are never going back! So sad! They used to be one of my favorite places to eat Mexican food in Colorado. We are going to Las Delicious and Torres Mexican restaurants from now on. read more

OK, this is not going to be easy...We stopped in here for lunch after I was forced to carry a sectional down three flights of stairs. I have been here before and I have always liked the food. We got chips and salsa within about a minute...score one for Rosita's. The salsa was decently spicy and fresh tasting. It was also cold which is another personal must for me. Cold salsa just tastes better to me. So we enjoyed the chips and salsa while we waited for our server to take our drink order. We continued to wait for our server to take our drink order...I guess we were not going to place a drink order after all...at least 5 full minutes passed before our waitress came to take our order...STRIKE 1!!!, maybe even STRIKE 2!!! Our waitress took our order shortly after we ordered our drinks (but before we got our drinks). We continued to wait for our drinks...We finished our basket of chips and salsa without any much desired moisture. Several minutes later two workers walked up to our table with our food order...still no drinks...wow, If this isn't STRIKE 3 than I don't know what would be... I guess I should talk about the food. That high pitch was actually a nasty curve-ball that dropped in over the plate to freeze the batter and strike him out looking...the food was very good. I ordered the carnitas. they were grilled to slightly crispy and then placed on a bed of green chili. I did request some additional chili so I could smother my carnitas. The only thing that could have made them better would be some included guacamole and some pico or lettuce...and the green chili is very tasty and even slightly spicy. My wife ordered a combo with a chili rellano, a guac. tostada, and a cheese enchilada. She loved hers. Too bad the service was so...strange...I have NEVER gotten my food before my drinks... This is not the place to go if you want spicy authentic Mexican food. We sat down and what felt like 20 minutes was probably more like a 10 minutes wait to be greeted by our server. That was ultimately our chance to walk out..but we decided to stay as our bellies were rumbling. The house margarita was so tart is reminded us of the nasty bud light margarita drink. Yuck! We ordered the chicken and beef deep fried tacos which had zero seasoning and tasted like they were stale taco shells from a box. To say the least we won't be coming back. Like many of us, I've eaten at a lot of mexican food restaurants so I'm familiar with the 'art of the up charge'. These guys take it to a whole new level. I spoke with the owner about my concerns and he actually laughed at me. I order a ground beef burrito - $3.65. Smothered with green chili - 1.15 extra. No problems to this point. The waitress then asks, "would you like cheese inside or on top"? I decide on top. My two buddies each order the Super Burrito - $9.85. They are big boys and were interested in a ten dollar burrito. Still no issues. The food arrive quickly, my burrito coming out first. It's sizable......and it has beans, so I ask the waitress if this is my burrito. She says yes, and offers to bring one with no beans - I decline, because I'm a pretty easy-going diner. Next by buddy's Super Burritos arrive - they are the exact same size as mine so we inquire as to the difference. The waitress sheepishly replies, "there is no difference....I generally try and tell people that, but they order it anyway". My friend then retorts, "you never mentioned that to me". Silence. We finish our meals......not bad food, but not good enough that I would frequent the place if they weren't rip-off artists. Our checks come and I notice the $1.15 up charge for cheese (my son also ordered a bean and cheese burrito (cheese on top) - $1.15 up charge). Some things just rub me wrong and this did, so I decided to do what I normally do in situations where the waitress follows owners instructions to deceive patrons - I take the $2.30 out of the tip. Problem solved and no YELP review necessary......It was the owners attitude that prompted this review. My hope is I save 1 diner or a couple hundred thousand diners the consternation of having to deal with this situation and an owner that truly does not understand the power of being honest. read more

I came here once back in maybe 2009 and was unimpressed. About a year ago we gave it another shot and I am glad we did. We have started bring my teenage nephews here who now live with us and it has become our go to place for Mexican food when we are in the area. The service is good, quick, and friendly. I don't like to give bad reviews but I've been here 3 times now and all three were really bad. I tried to give it a couple more tries but was thoroughly disappointed each time. I give it two stars because the service is pretty good and the salsa is good too. The carnitas are dry. The side of onions, cilantro and guacamole were definitely passed their shelf life. The cilantro had soggy black leaves. The raw onion smelled terrible and was slimy. The guacamole tasted store bought and also was browned. The chips were also store bought. Nothing seemed fresh at all. The chili is decent but lacks depth and spice. Right when you walk in, there's a terrible smell. We should have known by that, that this place is not so good. They have things on their menu that say "award winning" and "famous" I find that pretty hard to believe because again NOTHING is fresh. The margaritas tasted like a glass full of sour mix. An honest Mexican cafe. Homemade chorizo is excellent, non-traditional but perfectly seasoned. Add savory (but spicy, watch out) Green chile, lightly fried, golden brown potatoes for a perfect weekend breakfast. I tried Rositas on a lark, and I'm so glad I did! My son loved the food here too. (Update) holy moly Rosita's has pitched forward and fallen on its face. Soggy breakfast potatoes, ho-hum chorizo, and flour tortillas that tasted right out of a plastic bag. So disappointed. I have been going here for years and I have a few points to make. Haters out there if you want authentic Mexican go to Mexico,. If you want five star dining go to a five star restaurant. This is a diner with diner food. That being said, portions are always good for the price. I never order the hamburgers because they just sound awful. Enchilada's are always good. The breakfast menu is the better one though. My favorite is their chicken fried steak and they have increased the value on this one. It use to be the frozen type you get from every other diner but today I got an actual steak. Their breakfast burritos are also good. Service has always been friendly and fast. It also has a family friendly atmosphere. If you are looking for fine dining this is not the place. If you are looking for fast descent food at a good price this is the place. My wife and I have been going here for 10 years, the food here is always fantastic as well as the atmosphere. I used to order all over the menu, now I am in a stuck-order mode for a couple years now, I always get the Pablito stuffed with carnitas & bean in the hot green chili. My wife still skips around and enjoys everything she orders. The reason I give a 4 instead of a 5 is due to the service at times. Went on a whim, being in the neighborhood. I agree with the other reviewer about the Chile Relleno, a fried mess of cheese with very little chile. I prefer a deeper green chile with white cheese. More on white cheese. We ordered the queso dip, which turned out to be most likely Velveeta topped witth canned chiles and tomatoes. Yuck. As a past server, I would always ask guests about a dish that remained untouched on the table, but this did not happen. Other than that, the service was great. Don't order the margarita unless you want it virgin because there was no tequila in it. I will stop here, because I am starting to sound like a negative nancy. It has been a struggle to find a great Mexican place in Denver. I will stick to Tacos y Salsas on South Federal. The food wasn't awful, but the experience was worth more like $10 than the $50 we paid, so, 1 star for filling my belly and 1 star for a really nice server. read more

This was by far the worst mexican restaurant I have ever been to. For being in Denver (especially on Federal Street), you'd think there wouldn't be too many bad mexican places around. But, I'm positive this is the worst around. Cardboard and canned tomato sauce is how I would describe the chips and salsa. When the quesadilla came out, I thought surely this was a mistake. I mean, what restaurant serves a quesadilla as an open faced tortilla with some cheese on top? It was literally a tortilla from a bag that someone slapped some shredded cheese on and stuck in a microwave for 15 seconds. Lit...er...ally... Plus, the chimichanga was just a plate of depressing & tasteless worthlessness topped with iceberg lettuce and a side of sour cream. Overall, I'd rather have a mexican meal by going to the gas station and buying Takis then going back to this place. read more
