I don't go to her for enjoyment rather for maintenance of my body. As I've gotten older, my body is just not the same as before and Ross helps me in moments of pain that I don't need to live with. I don't enjoy my time (so good it hurts) with her but know the end results will payoff. This is a no frills deep tissue massage experience. Ross (Rosalyn) works for herself and by herself so she manages all the bookings via text so allow some time for responses. As for commentary on her candor, if it's not for you, then it isn't. Grow some thicker skin. She's frank but not disrespectful. Her talent, pricing, and results make it worthwhile for many of us, based on her regulars. I've tried numerous other massages in the area over the past few years, but Rosalyn's deep tissue massages are the best I've experienced! Having read all the great reviews on Yelp, I texted Rosalyn and had an appointment quickly booked for the next day. I typically opt for a deep tissue or Thai massage as I spend most of my workday sitting at a desk and have tight shoulders and lower back from poor posture. In a span of 60 minutes, Rosalyn identified my problem areas - including one of my legs which were tighter due to a lower back problem I had several years ago. Towards the end of the massage, she showed me stretches which I could do by myself at home to help loosen the muscles. It was clear Rosalyn was extremely knowledgeable and skilled at her craft. As other reviewers have said, this is more of a therapeutic massage so you will feel quite a bit of pain during your session and may have a couple of bruises afterwards as I did. If you are looking for a true deep tissue massage with no frills Ross is your person. My back is very tight, so I was looking for a masseuse for deep tissue massage. I sent a text message to Ross and she responded same day. I selected the 90 minute for a fair comparison since I had a 90 minute deep tissue once before from another masseuse. Ross definitely paid attention to the knots on my back as I requested; in addition, my whole body. There were knots in areas I didn't notice because I was so fixated on my back. This definitely gave me insight on how much I need to stretch my legs and hips. In comparison to the previous masseuse from a different business, Ross is reasonably priced. Ross included stretches in her session which the other masseuse just did deep tissue which is totally understable because that was the service that I paid for. But, I feel like Ross customized the session according to her experience and judgement on what my body needed. This was definitely a true deep tissue massage. She was talkative during the session which I actually liked because laughter was definitely a coping mechanism of mine in order to deal with the pain. I had this massage back in September and the recovery was brutal. I had bruises and soreness but this is expected from a deep tissue massage. After recovering, I definitely felt less tightness and reduced pain. The only aspect that I think others may not appreciate is sometimes she is on her phone to answer clients texts or calls. She is pretty quick about it and I did not mind because I know she works independently. I honestly liked the pauses, so I could collect myself when it got painful. The location is a clothing store inside a private room. There was no one else but us. The room has enough ambiance for me to relax. But if you are looking for more upscale location, this is not it. For what it's worth, and depending on what you're looking for, she's a master of her craft: restoring mobility by breaking down knots and scar tissue to relieve tension. You can come in with issues from old injuries, newer ones, atrophy, or whatever and she'll help you sort things out. Yes it hurts but as they say: no pain, no gain. I'm a long time mixed martial artist in my early 40s, train hard 3-5 days a week (every week, all year) and she's my secret to keeping everything moving and flexible. I've never hurt so good before! Rosalyn's technique is a beautiful and magical combination of deep tissue/ sports massage / myofascial release. I've had Thai massage many, many times this is a different kind of deep tissue massage. In 2 hours I learned more about my body, where I carry tension and how it's all connected than I have in 2 decades of receiving massage. After the massage I was treated to some assisted stretching to help lengthen the muscles that were just released. I specifically went in for help with jaw muscle pain for my TMJD. Rosalyn is the best masseuse I've ever had and I've been to many, many places. I'm very picky about my massages, as I have very specific needs. I do a ton of running and sports and therefore have really tight legs and shoulders. Rosalyn's technique can be described in one word - precise. As soon as she puts your hands on you, she knows the source of the problem and gets to it. Her kind of massage is medicinal, it's not to make you feel relaxed, it's to make you feel reborn. So as others have noted, this isn't a gentle massage, you will be in a bit of pain on the table as she works through tight muscles. Afterwards, you will feel amazing in way no other massage has provided, at least for me. Come with the expectation that that's how you will feel, also, don't be fazed by the fact that there aren't fancy candles or other things in the environment. It's not spa like in that way. I don't usually write reviews, but Rosalyn deserves all the praise she can get! I had a deep tissue massage with Rosalyn last Thursday (10/11) due to ongoing pain and tightness in my upper back and shoulders. I usually get massages once a week, covered by my health insurance, but the relief I get from those massages is extremely brief and insignificant. Because of that, I wasn't expecting too too much when I booked Rosalyn. I read reviews beforehand on Yelp, but I didn't know if the hype was true or not. Finding the location was a tiny bit difficult, since she uses/rents a room in building that isn't clearly labeled. The room itself is a little outdated but definitely calming. Rosalyn herself is extremely professional; she first asks where she should focus her attention (what areas are painful). I opted for her to focus her time on my upper body (though she did do some work on my lower body as well!) I read reviews ahead of time, so I knew that the massage would be painful (but good type of painful). She has and uses a lot of power and knows exactly where to focus her energy on. I didn't have to point out where I had knots for her to work on them. (She does say to tell her if it becomes too painful, but I opted not to.) She also does stretches at the end which really help as well! After the massage, I definitely felt a lot looser! A couple days following, my back was sore and I couldn't move it well, but now, after more than a couple days, I feel completely refreshed! My knots are GONE, which is something I never believed could happen--all for such a good price! I will definitely be coming back! read more

She has reasonable rates and her style is a lot different from other deep tissue massage places. Prepare to hurt a bit. But usually after the initial shock, your next appointment should be more limber. She has you on your side and does fantastic assisted stretching. She also recommends certain stretches and what to do and not do to as far as addressing IT band problems.
