I stopped by the Ross in Cupertino to do a little shopping. This was my first time at this location. They are located in the Safeway shopping center and share a huge parking lot with other businesses. I was very disappointed with this stores selection of items. It was very disorganized in there. It reminded me of a huge yard sale where items were randomly placed on shelves. The space of the store seemed too big for the shelving and inventory that they had. They did have a small section of Fall and Halloween themed items. But it was not much. The cosmetics area was very small as well and a complete mess. They did have a few glow recipe products in locked up plastic boxes. But the prices were more expensive than TJ Maxx and Marshall's. I did find a package of decorative tissue paper for gift bags and wrapping. There was only one of that variety and it was only $2.99 for 50 sheets. I decided to buy it because I did need some and the price was right. There was only one employee working at the checkout counter. There was a line of customers waiting but the line seemed to move fast. I waited about 5 minutes before I was helped. The young lady helping me was polite and friendly. Yesterday I (and everyone in the checkout line) witnessed the XXXL plus size black store manager arguing with a senior customer refusing to give her purchases made on Tuesday with the 55+ 10% discount. The store manager first claimed that all employees will ask if the senior wants the senior discount or not. When the senior person said the employee did not ask her that's why she's back to get her discount. Then the store manager turned around and changed her statement and said No, she as a senior person should remember to ask the cashier to give her the senior discount. It's not the cashier's job to give her the discount. Then the senior person carrying her 3 bags of purchases asked if she could return everything and buy back with the discount. Then the store manager again raised her voice and said with the most annoyed look "No! You can't do that!" And continued to say the purchase's a done deal and she won't get her senior discount. The 2 other younger cashiers, a male Indian cashier on the left and a younger Spanish gal on the right stood there in sort of a disbelief look and then just quietly looked away. The senior lady left I guess angrily but without saying another word while the store manager continued mumbling something. This is just plain stupid! How much is a 10% discount worth? Is this how a store should be run and how a store manager should act and treat its customers???? This store in several occasions had shown terrible customer service as I had also seen this same black store manager chose to greet an ex-employee at the store and spent 10+ minutes chatting and catching up with the person while there was only one cashier and the line has over 6-8 customers waiting and looking at her. A work performance review and feedback from the coworkers and customers would be prudent. read more

This winter has been unusually wet and cold in Northern California, and I've been relying heavily on my space heater to stay warm. I was looking for something very personal and practical--a pair of open-ended slippers, not larger than my shoe size, that I could easily slide on and off. I searched several stores, including the Sunnyvale Mall, but couldn't find what I wanted. Then on Friday, I went to the Cupertino Ross, and Shiva personally helped me locate exactly what I was looking for. Her guidance made the experience seamless and enjoyable. I absolutely love my slippers--they keep me warm, and the personal attention she gave made all the difference. I'm writing this review specifically for the store manager and regional management of the Cupertino Ross. There is a woman working at this location (I believe her name is Shiva) who represents exactly how customer service should be done. She shows judgment, empathy, and real situational intelligence--qualities that cannot be easily trained. To give context, I live in Sunnyvale, and there is a Ross much closer to me. While the Sunnyvale store is convenient and competent, the interactions there feel transactional and impersonal at times. They know me, but it's routine--they follow the rules strictly. In contrast, at the Cupertino store, Shiva goes above and beyond. She knows me as a customer, she trusts me, and she makes me feel valued and recognized. For example, I didn't even have to show my driver's license one day, and she immediately trusted me, then gave me a generous 40% discount because of our prior interactions. That kind of care and recognition makes the shopping experience personal, human, and memorable. Her high emotional intelligence, situational judgment, and genuine kindness make me want to travel three times the distance just to shop there. That is not just loyalty--it is earned through excellence in service. If Ross wants to maintain long-term customers and generate goodwill, Shiva deserves recognition and a meaningfully HUHE raise. Employees like her don't just help a single transaction--they create repeat business and a lasting positive impression. In short: Exceptional Customer Experiences like this are rare these days, and they define your store and set it apart from other Ross stores or competing discount chains like TJ Maxx or Marshalls.. Shiva's combination of kindness, judgment, and personal attention makes the Cupertino Ross stand out far beyond convenience or proximity. Management should take note. Right now, this store has an overall rating of two out of five stars, which I believe is unfair. People simply haven't met a store employee like Shiva yet. My feedback focuses solely on the customer service experience. Today, I visited the store, and the employee assigned to the registers chose to prioritize restocking shelves and organizing shopping carts instead of assisting me at the checkout. Although she saw me waiting in line, she opted to walk away, unload a cart of products, and then organize shopping carts rather than help me. When she finally returned to the registers, instead of expressing gratitude for my patience, she said "if I leave items there, customers might assume that's where they belong." I understand that staff may be limited, and that there are tasks to complete to keep the store in order, but in my opinion the priority should be to acknowledge a waiting customer with a simple, 'I'll be right with you,' or to postpone side tasks until after assisting in-person customers. read more

This is one of my favorite Ross stores. I have found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Once I forgot my cell phone on a shelf in the back by the candles, and as I was rushing back, the security officer already picked it up and was walking to find me. That was awesome! The lack of 5 stars is only due to understaffing issues. =) I do think they are under staffed here because sometimes the line gets very long so you can't go during a certain times. However, in general it's far less picked over the Westgate always is. Thank you very much my hard-working Ross friends. read more

Witnessed what looked to be the manager yell at a new employee who was clearly still in training. Instead of guiding or correcting her calmly, the manager was rude and condescending in front of customers and other staff. It was uncomfortable to watch and felt incredibly unprofessional. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect, especially when they're new and still learning. There is always a reason why people like that work at places like Ross. I hope Ross looks into how their staff is being trained and treated. read more

I've always had a good experience at this Ross until today, I shop at this Ross frequently was was very much disappointed of the behavior from a "manger on duty" I came in today with my book bag and was wearing a puffer jacket that I was taking off and on cause it got hot. Me and my friend were shopping around. We were gonna check out so I left my cart near the checkout and me and my friend were having a convo of what I should I get. As I decided I notice this lady I wanna say mid 20s, Asian, she kept looking at us, and I pick up my bag and grab my sweater. She says something about putting the cart back rudely which we were gonna put it back in the first place..... I noticed another employee behind us just on her phone, taking photos I'm not sure if she was taking photos of us ? Or what. But she was there the whole time behind us and when we left she was gone. I go and checkout I bought 2 items and PAYED FOR THEM. The alarm goes on but for another costumer so I walk through thinking nothing since I just had payed. The lady which turns out to be the manger follows us outside and accuses me of stealing, when I had litterlay just payed for 2 items. She makes me show her my bag, which had my personal item, she had accused me of stealing and this is the "manger". It was so embarrassing, it seemed targeted since I had noticed she kept watching us, when my friend came In he said the manger gave him a wired look. It's just really rude and embarrassing to accuse someone like that, I'm not sure why she thought that maybe because weren't dressed the best, or because of my jacket?!?! Still no excuse to be giving us attitude. The alarm rang because someone was coming from the other side moments before I had just finished paying. As someone who has worked in retail make you get your facts straight before you accuse someone of stealing. I hope management has a convo with this "manager", who as well was giving her employees rude looks when they would speak to her. I've worked in a similar discount store and we are not allowed to even check someone's bag, what she did could result into a violation. This review is for store manger at this location: Extreme unpleasant experience when trying to return a newly bought item at this store. Be alert, the staff, particular the cashier Krystal and Jamaica, their job is not to help customer, rather giving hard time to make customer unable to return a newly bought item (never used item). Having same item to be able to return at a different Ross store location, this tells me that the staffs from Homestead Location are either bias or may had violation for consumer's right. Anemic service, long lines, and seemingly apathetic employees. The selection here is okay and the store is quiet but man oh man do check out lines get long. And that is largely because there has only been one person at the counter. I'm not sure if they restricted the number of employees on the floor due to covid, but I often have seen two or three other employees behind the counter who toss some clothes on a rack, giggle about some humorous somethings, then dissappear, all while one person handles BOTH the returns and check out line. Also don't expect friendly service. The check out person, while not outright rude, seems a bit curt and lethargic. Not the best place, but if you're not in a hurry it'll do. read more

Customer service here is not up to par. I called to ask if this Ross had Crocs for teenagers in stock. The lady kept telling me that I'd have to come in to look myself. I would consider this a commuter Ross. Only because it's not the largest Ross, but hey it works. They need to figure out the layout some more. It is a little all over the place. I do like their changing rooms, they are really nice. Clean bathrooms. It is kind of hard to figure out the line because it is set to the side of the store. Worse experience I've ever had. The black manager was so rude and unprofessional. She needs to be audited as she completely discriminated against me. I came in to shop for an outfit for my cousins wedding so I took my time looking for an outfit as I didn't want to rush in picking my outfit. As I was about to finish my shopping the "Manager" approached me telling me "you and your partner are not welcome" in shock I replied "why" she repeated herself and said " you and your partner need to leave." She didn't even bother to give me a reason as too why she was telling us to leave. I asked her multiple times why she was asking us to leave and not once did she bother to tell me. I asked for her name and her general managers name and she completely ignored me. They had even called the cops. I was in such disbelief. Very very nasty toward return. First, the lady for return is busy showing jewelry inside the glass counters for shopping customers. Second, the lady instructed me to line up all together with purchasing together. The line is very very long. When finally my turn, the other cashier lady told me the line is for purchasing only and I have to go to the return line. Third, I restarted in the return line patiently waiting the return lady who was still bus's I showing the other purchasing jewelry. She just peeked my return good and pointed out it has a washable blemished. I explained the blemish existed before my purchasing. I was waiting for my car to be done being serviced at Goodyear. So to waste sometime I walked in to Ross. When I first walked in I must have something on me that triggered the alarm. It was fine I walked in. No one said anything. I walked around the store but nothing really interested me. They don't have a good selection. So I walked out. When I walked out the alarm went on again. The security guard or loss prevention what ever you want to call him stopped me. To look at my purse. It's the most embarrassing thing that's happened in a while. I don't like confrontation so I showed him I had nothing and he just gives me the dirtiest looks. I wouldn't steal or much less take anything. This is the last time I ever walk into a Ross. I don't know if he's racist or just doesn't like the way I look. This places sucks. read more

The manager, Sheba, was very unpleasant, uncooperative, and not customer friendly. We tried to do an even exchange for an item and they did not honor it because of the discount we got. It was an even exchange for a size and when asked about the employee policy she was unable to share those guidelines. Then she falsey claimed that we were asking her to do something, when we weren't and that threw us off. She could not even provide a guide on the policy and is clearly lacks knowledgeand professionalism. I'm not sure how she's a manager because she lacks customer service. I've always wondered what a fully stocked Ross was like, and I found out today at their Grand Opening. They opened at 8AM, and I got there around 8:15AM. Some of my Yelp friends had mentioned to me back in December 2014 that this Ross location was coming soon, and on Thursday, 3/05/2015, as a subscriber to Ross emails, I received a message announcing this Cupertino location in Homestead Square was opening on Saturday, 3/07/2015. How could I resist? This store is located between a Michael's and a Fedex Office. I parked over by Fedex Office, where there was plenty of parking. As two shoppers and I entered through the automatic doors, we were immediately greeted with smile by the Loss Prevention Officer and a Sheriff that stood by the entrance. They said,"Welcome to Ross!" in unison. There was a table to my left, which had forms to fill out one's name, address, phone number, and email to enter a drawing for a $500 Shopping Spree. I was greeted in the Handbags department by a smiling employee, who told all of us shoppers that the handbags were arranged by color. The Handbags and Shoes sections were located near the front of the store. I saw lots of handbags by Calvin Klein, Michael Kors, Tommy Hilfiger, Kenneth Cole Reaction, DKNY, Nine West, and Guess. The shoe racks were about eye level, and I saw plenty of shoes by Calvin Klein, Skechers, Easy Spirit, Reebok, Nike, and Keds. Near the Handbags section, there were scarves, hats, slippers, skincare items, cosmetics, acrylic cosmetic organizers, magnifying mirrors, and eyeglass/sunglasses cases. If you are a fan of Burt's Bees or Physician's Formula cosmetics, I saw plenty of sets to choose from. The Children's Clothing and Toys sections were located between the Handbags and Bed and Bath sections. In the bedding section, I saw Jumbo, King, Queen and Standard pillows. Most of the pillows were made by Sealy, Calvin Klein, and Tommy Hilfiger. There were lots of sheet sets in Twin, Full, Queen, and King - a lot of it made by Nautica, Perry Ellis, and Beverly Hills Polo Club. The dressing rooms were located at the back of the store. I approached the dressing room attendant and asked where the restroom was. She smiled and told me to enter the garment counting area and make a right turn. There was a door with a keypad, and she buzzed me into the restroom. The Women's restroom had two stalls, and was stocked with plenty of toilet paper, soap, and paper towels. The Bath section had lots of Nautica towels. There were also a lot of shower curtains and shower racks by various manufacturers that I wasn't familiar with. The Women's Clothing section had brands such as Jones New York, Vintage Suzie, Tommy Hilfiger, Cupio, Calvin Klein, and Michael Kors. The Kitchen and Home sections had lots of cookware, kitchen utensils, candles, picture frames, and snacks. I saw pet beds, gardening shears, and gardening gloves in the Home section. The Men's Clothing section was small, which seems to be the case at all Ross stores that I've been to, but the shoe selection seemed decent - I saw three male shoppers, with 3 to 5 pairs of shoes each, head for the cash registers, looking quite pleased. The Luggage section had suitcases made by Samsonite, Calvin Klein, Victorinox Swiss Army, and Bill Blass. There was a good selection of Stash Teas near the registers. Also near the registers was the Jewelry section. There was a good selection of watches for men and women. I also saw sterling silver rings, earrings, bracelets, and necklaces. Plus there were designer sunglasses. There was a sign explaining that Ross policy limited employees to only showing one piece of jewelry at a time. The men's wallets near the cash registers were not in gift giving condition, because they had heavy creases, wrinkles, and significant scuffs. There was only one cashier, and the whole time that I was in the store, I heard her call repeatedly for an additional cashier, and one never showed up. I heard several customers standing in line sigh loudly. Luckily, by the time I was going to the registers, there was only one shopper ahead of me. This lone cashier was understandably frustrated with the lack of an additional cashier, and she rang up my items and handed me my purchase in silence. My purchases: Tommy Hilfiger V-Neck 100% Cotton Turquoise Tee ($12.99), Set of 2 Perry Ellis Royal Blue Standard Pillow Cases ($3.99), Calvin Klein Black Pashmina Scarf ($14.99), Vintage Suzie Made in the USA Tee in Navy ($8.99), Three-Section Acrylic Cosmetic Organizer ($5.99) for holding cosmetic brushes and eye/lip pencils. The store had plenty of employees walking around on the sales floor, so the fact that no additional cashier ever showed up the whole time that I was there was odd. Manager is an asshole! The tall skinny, brown hair manager is an asshole! Bought a orange jacket at this store . The receipt was attached to the security tag, so it obviously fell when the security tag was removed. Went to return the item and surprise, surprise! The item was registered as a grey jacket! And the manager refused to return the item because it was registered as grey! Wow! Instead of running her store and TEACHING THE OBNOXIOUS INDIAN CASHIER TO READ the items she checks in, she puts the responsibility on me! It's my fault for not understanding that grey blah blah blah was referring to the colors rather than to the name of the item. How wonderful! This location is really convenient, being in a new shopping center next to safeway & michaels. Sooo much better than the Sunnyvale one! Their selection can be sparse sometimes, but when they do have a lot of stuff, it's good. The staff is always friendly, welcoming you into the store & saying hi when they are near you on the sales floor. It's always clean as well. Almost every time I come in, I leave with something.... This is one of the nicest Ross stores I've been to. All of the employees I've come in contact with are very nice and ask how you are doing. The racks are always in order and neat. Sure some things can be out of place, but that is the fault of rude and inconsiderate customers that throw items around or on the floor. It's sad to read some of these other reviews on here, people think they are shopping at Gucci or something.. IT'S ROSS, GET OVER YOUR STUCK UP PRISSY SELVES, THE WORKERS ARE NOT SLAVES! I would honestly rather shop here than at Macy's and many other large department stores. I was recently looking for a dress for a friend's upcoming wedding. I spent nearly 5 hours going to some nice stores in the mall and everything in almost every store was thrown around or on the floor. Macy's, for example, in Oakridge was absolutely disgusting. Tons of dresses piled onto racks that you couldn't even look through because there were so many. Many of the dresses (that cost $80+!) were on the floor getting stomped all over, some taken part way off the racks and hanging by a sleeve, many of them ripped. I did not find one nice, intact dress that didn't have foot prints all over it. I came to this Ross and was in and out within 20 minutes with a really cute dress for... $15!! not a pleasant experience with the lady in the back. update 4/19/2016 Yesterday, last night my wife and I went in. Again I had some clothes I wanted to try. I get to the line and there is a men in he fitting room who is facing the wall and his back is facing the store and the fitting room entrance. I wasnt sure if it was some guy waiting for his wife or their employee so I waited for him to do whatever streching he was doing and turn around and notice me which litterally took less then 10 seconds but this young man came up to me and thhis is what he says: " has anyone ever told you that you are very quiet?" I was like WTF did this idiot just say to me? I told him: "I've been told I am patient and sure I have heard it all but in this situation I'm not sure how I can be quiet". Anyway, I was upset. My insecurities kicked in. Did I look funny and does that make me look quiet? What was I suppose to do clear my throat and immidiately get his attention? was being patient and waiting for less than 10 second making me quiet and does that also mean I am slow since I am quiet in his mind? He than ran to the register to wark the cashier but I have one question for for their district manager and their store manager, why do you hire such stupid people? When I came out there was now a hispanic lady bossing me around teling me and pointing with her finger that I should put my clothes (all of em even the ones I want) on the rack so that she can count them. I said sure but I told her I hated the way she asked me to do that and that I would have appreciated her help not her bossing me around as if she was my boss and I was her peeon. I just came from this store and it has not improved since I was there last year. I got in line with five other people and one cashier. The person she was helping was taking a while and I saw 4 Ross staff standing around doing absolutely nothing. I asked the cashier for more help and those 4 people first ignored it and then the cashier asked who she should call. Then they finally got someone to come. This was a complete example of "this is not my job".. Really bad for a store that looks like it is struggling. I have no idea what those people get paid to do. Really bad customer service. Not much stocked up merchandise like other stores although location is excellent and store is very clean and feel good going in there. They need to sell more designer brands and give this store a little attention if they need better sales. read more

New store but they don't have anything there and most of the merchandise is low quality off the wall brands. TJmax used to be at that location & they moved to a nicer bigger location on stevens creek. I don't know why Ross opened this location with such low level merchandise. Me and my Little sister came shopping here and had the worse experience ever . We walked in and went straight to shoes then beauty products immediately security came out from were ever she was asked if I need help looking for something I said no thanks , but she continued to stay close Bye me watching me, as I moved to look thru clothing , another security came and was standing side bye side go thru clothes and watching me, then stopped got on her walkie and asked whomever if they called the cops yet. I take that as if they were trying to scare me. The store was quiet maybe like two other people tops. But I continued shopping went to the home decor area and sure enough there's security walking back and fourth watching me and an employee came to clean up the same aisle I was on and just stopped and moved to each aisle I moved to. Ridiculous! But didn't say anything ! I had picked out 5 tops and went to try them on as I walked to the fitting room two employees came and both security s stood about 6 steps away from me watching me and I mean watching me! Put my clothes on the rack so they could count . At this point I'm pissed , I'm telling my sister who is 13 years old that this is bullshit. Just becuase I'm dressed with a bulls sweater, a snap back hat ,some Jordan's & I'm Hispanic , they want to follow me and make me feel uncomfortable its bullshit. I don't need to steal some cheap ass clothes from Ross, or any other store at that. Don't come here unless you liked to be followed! read more
