This review is more so for a specific employee that works here than the store itself. The store is very clean and organized and I've enjoyed the few times I've come in recently. Last night I came in with my husband to purchase some items and had a great experience up until it was time to check out. The cashier was extremely rude and spent her time talking on her radio and writing notes on a piece of paper instead of checking us out. She basically threw my receipt at me with along with a dirty look and completely had us baffled as to why she had such a nasty attitude towards us. Although I did not catch her name her associate number is 820287. We were happy to walk away from her counter and finally get out of the store, until we walked through the door and the alarm went off. Maybe if she was paying more attention to her customers instead of talking on her radio, looking around the store and drawing on her piece of paper, she would have notice all of the security tags she didn't take off of our items, thus leaving another employee to step in and take care of us. I definitely will not forget her face or horrible attitude and will gladly ask for assistance from another employee next time we come here if she is working. 10/17/2017 I wanted to update my review and say a big thank you to the store manager for contacting me on this matter. He was very polite and assured me that this is not something they condone with any of their employees. Its a run of the mill Ross for sure. It's never fully stocked, it needs more employees, it needs someone to give a darn! I've found a few pairs of awesome Sanuk shoes there, but beyond that it's always so lackluster. I've been to my fair share of Ross' - this isn't the worst by any means, but it's far from the best either. 3 stars for your averageness. read more

This was the WORST trip I've ever had to a Ross store. First off they were completely understaffed ...which wouldn't of been a problem, business varies not a big deal. But the associates literally just stood there like dumbfounded, no direction from leadership or anything! THEN!......I had the "pleasure" of getting rung up my Marlene. I had explained to her that I had found a pair of shoes that had the sticker ripped off and no number on the bottom to indicate the price.....her response "well I can't sell them to you" and took them and threw them into the go backs in back of the register. I then proceeded to ask for a manager...her response "sorry we don't have anyone who can help you right now....our manager is on a conference call and will not be able to help" (mind you the gentleman ringing up the lady next to me had a "manager on duty" tag) then told me well we don't ever go help you find an identical shoe so if you want you can go look and come back but that's the customers responsibility (after we waited 20 minutes to get rung up!!!) it was just really annoying that she didn't wanna help me in any way shape or form. Like I really wanted the pair of shoes they we're prefect! I was just astonished at the lack of customer service this store provides. Maybe they need some classes or something. Hopefully they fix the issues in the future before they lose any more customers. I will definitely never return to this store again! Absolutely horrible! read more

I don't usually like to give a bad review, but I have been waiting for over a year to see improvement and have not. The restroom looks like a heard of buffalo came through there. Come on ladies! And Management have your people clean more often and keep supplies well stocked. We won't discuss the tissue stuck to the floor, and paper towels thrown on the floor. If it were just one time, I would not say anything. Also, who is purchasing for sizes 18 and over??? Every time I look for something cute in an 18-20, this size is being used to store extra stock in and smaller sizes. Maybe someone is being lazy and not placing items back where they should be?? Then it appears that the larger sizes are well stocked when they aren't. One time I dumped over 20 items on my cart and placed them on the front of the rack where they should have been. This exposed and empty size 22 area and left only a few dresses hanging that belonged there. I was always surprised at how much dust and dirt are everywhere. Doesn't anyone dust, sweep or mop here?? I have changed stores and now shop at the Del Mar/Solana Beach location. I always find an abundance of new stock in 18 and over and couldn't be more pleased with the cleanliness of this store. I, too, use this Ross as my white elephant gift supplier, but usually that's about all it's good for. I can occasionally find some shoes or a purse, but TJ Maxx is generally the same idea with a bit more fashion sense. Ross hardly ever has dresses in smaller sizes, and their pants tend to either be juniors' with *lots* of flare or have old-lady pleats. You can definitely find some cute shirts or sweaters, though, so it's always worth a look. read more

Store has good selection of normal ross gift, nick nack etc items. Well maintained. However, the staff is very rude, not all of them but there are a couple there that I will switch lines and wait longer just to not have them check me out. read more

This store is gross and unorganized and has a very unhelpful staff but the thing that put me over the edge was the fact that the carts have a huge pole that prevent you from taking the cart outside. Isn't the whole point of a cart to help you bring the stuff that you bought to the car without having to carry it? Correct me if I'm wrong but that is what I've always known as the purpose of a cart. So I'm leaving the store yesterday with at least 4 bags of stuff and my purse and my daughter and I find this infuriating piece of info out. I told the girl there was no way I could schlep all my crap out to the car while holding my daughter. I asked for help and she said that there was not anyone avail to help but I could pull my car up to the curb and come in and get it. Excuse meeee?? Leave my 15 month old in the running open car and put my stuff in the trunk? Get out of here. I ended up returning everything I bought and was in a rage. I agree with previous posts, Ross is a hit or miss. But most stores like this are. They actually have a lot of good things here if you have the time to search. This ross isn't very crowded and the sales people are always pretty nice. The shoes here are a lot cheaper then any other place I've been, but again it's a hit or miss. This was my first time visiting this location because i normally shop in oceanside or vista. There was a girl working at the fitting room who was super rude when I needed to try on some pants. I hung my clothes on the rack so she could count the items and she vigorously shook everything as if I had items hiding in the pockets. She then swiftly handed me my number card and gave no instructions on where my room was. I nicely asked which way (left or right) and she rolled her eyes and said THAT WAY while pointing. My boyfriend said as he waited ouside of the fitting room he noticed her being super impatient with other customers that entered after myself. After an older woman walked out and hung what she didnt need she walked away and her number fell and the employee said outloud with other customers around (how rude... i swear some people). This experience alone makes me never want to come back. read more

This Ross unlike some have said is very unorganized and messy in comparison to some that I have been to in the state and out of state. :I It feels like this particular Ross sells clothing that did not sell the previous season, despite the fact you can find a few gems hidden amongst the dirt. read more

Customer service at its worst! Wow. I've never been treated like this. EVER! So i never shop at Ross and decided to shop today on my down time. (worst idea) and i see cute dresses i want to try on and when I came to the person she was very rude and yanked my items from my hand cuz i didnt know they had to physically count the items themselves. Coming out i give her 3 of my items and keep 3 while handing her the number 6 sign. And i showed her all 3 items but again took them away from my hand. I put them on hold because i found nice shoes and didnt have time to make my decision cuz i had school..coming back to get my items Im really excited to try them on, but store policy is that you cant try on shoes with dresses to see if it matches in the fitting room. The guy in the fitting rooms says to me "if you want to try the shoes you have to come out bare foot and go to the mirror (points at a mirror across from the fitting rooms-pretty far away)" how absorbed is that! I told him that was embarrassing to do and denys my privacy and embarrassing to have sensors on while everyone stares at me. He couldn't even explain why they're not allowed in the fitting rooms. Later i ask to speak to the manager. And they walking talkie him and he said"tell her its the policy" im like i said i would like to talk to him. And he said for me to go to the front because he was coming to the fitting rooms. His name is Michael. Worst manager ever. He gave me his DM managers phone, Terra which was no help. Im trying to explain the situation and all she said was "have a great night" & hung up on me! read more

There was a very rude rude customer treating the employees by the fitting room very badly. She was yelling at the employees and I witnessed it all and the employee and manager both were very helpful and stayed very professional. I feel bad for them having to deal with customers like that and want to thank all the employees at this location for all that they do! Thank you again. read more

Just made a purchase (2/29/16 @ 8:30pm), Carla was our checker, didn't look at us, didn't say hello, held a conversation with her co-worker the entire duration of checkout, handed the receipt over while looking in the other direction and announcing "next customer." Not courteous at all. read more

This is one of the better Ross stores in the county. The store is well organized for the most part and I usually find great buys here. It can be hit or miss though. read more

(Encinitas) Great finds if you really search well but never enough help at the cash register and long lines. Also very narrow aisles, my sister is handicapped and can not shop there with her wheelchair because they are so narrow. Another problem with the store is that not many of the staff speaks English and it is hard to get assistance or they are rude as someone else mentioned. . read more
