Two stars: one for the cute stuff and the fact that I know how to get here. This location seems to be getting worse and worse though every time I come here and is slowly becoming my least favorite location. I don't know why I still come here. Last time I bought something, went to self checkout, and found out the security alarm was still on when I got home, even after I thought someone removed everything. This wasn't the first time it happened at this location. To avoid coming here again, that time I went to a different location to have the alarm taken off and had no issue. I really don't see the point of self checkout at this location as others said. It provides no benefit here and is not that much faster, as you still have to go to another counter to get alarms, security tags and whatever the hell else removed. Plus they want proof of receipt/checking your items here. Today, I figured I'll give it another chance, but when I tried to pay with the cashier to try and avoid any mishaps, the lady says they don't have any bags. I was thinking like what the hell? You're a store, how can you not have bags? I told her I didn't want the item any longer and walked out. This was the last and final straw. Too bad, I'll have to stick with other locations. This location doesn't seem to care about helping customers or doing their job properly. read more

0 stars: Rude & disrespectful employees I had a really disappointing experience here due to poor customer service. The employees lacked basic manners--no "excuse me," no acknowledgment, nothing. In the women's shoe section, one employee was aggressively sorting shoes, making the environment feel uncomfortable. What really bothered me was another employee who, instead of politely asking to pass, forcefully pushed my cart against me while I was standing in the aisle still all the way towards the end of the aisle. There was this couple who witnessed what happened. It felt intentional and very disrespectful. She was very aggressive and rude towards me for no reason. Overall, the staff came across as rude and unprofessional. I would not recommend coming here based on this experience. read more

The Ross store in Fremont hub is the worst location and customer service on the universe. They have self check out but after you're done doing your self check out they want to check your receipt and had me wait 20 minutes for to takeoff a electronic sensor off my phone case I would never return back to the store ever again and the customer service is trash. I never seen anybody work so less and be impatient and the manager was screaming at people and I did not like it. read more

Self checkout does not make sense at this establishment. I waited in line to be rung up by a person only to be told to go to self checkout. The person that guided me to the till then proceeded to scan my items. I paid and then need to go to a separate area to have my security tag taken off by the same guy that scanned my items as well as show my receipt to have said tag to be removed. I give 1 good thing to say and will end on this. The security guard probably saw and heard my frustration with the associate and didn't even ask to see my receipt. read more

Im so irritated i'm writing this in my driveway after returning from Ross. I brought a clearly damaged item (dessert stand) to the front hoping to get it discounted but the manager near the checkout (woman whose name starts with an S) said it wasn't damaged because someone else would still buy it (so you're okay with selling damaged items bc theres someone who will buy it?). I explained that while it doesnt have chips or cracks, you can clearly see that it was bent. Others in line agreed it was damaged because I asked them before even walking to the register to see if I was likely wasting my time by asking for a discount. The manager reluctantly agrees to give me a 5% discount (not even 70 cents) and says it still cant be counted as damaged which is why im only getting 5%. I take it thinking I can return it if I find one in perfect condition after checking the other Ross locations nearby. I get to my car and look at the receipt to see it says "FINAL SALE" due to damage. I KNOW that if I buy something damaged, it's final sale. But why argue that it's not damaged just to put that on the receipt and make me unable to return it? Shady way to do business. read more

I'm going to be coming HARD for this location for accusing me of STEALING! I go to self check out for the speediness as I often do every where I go. LP was watching me check out no problem, however as I'm leaving she steps in front of me saying she needs my receipt; I told her no then proceeds to say I can't leave until doing so. I threw the receipt at her and told her to keep it. She proceeded to say something smart and I turned around and engaged in an argument with her. Customer flipped me off trying to get a pic of her. My recent experiences at Ross have improved drastically since the last couple of times. I haven't run into the worker who had singled me out last time for a while now nor seen them. But the workers I have met lately have been very kind when I sought for help. The place is often busy since the only times I've gone as of lately are the weekends. I'd suggest going on a weekday if possible. They also have a self checkout line but you need to have 8 items or less. However, a couple of customers while I was in line for self checkout completely disregarded this. For example, one family had a cart loaded of items. Instead of telling them to get out of self checkout, the worker just told them to not do it again. This kinda bothered me and a couple of other customers as these customers held up the self checkout line. It's like, why bother following the 8 items or less if you're just going to let it slide every time with a verbal warning? Despite this, my experience here has been good and I've found clothes and anime figures at a good value. But the makeup section remains hit or miss because kids can be caught messing with the products. I understand that it's not the worker's job to babysit other people's children. That's ultimately on the parents to make sure their child behaves and to take responsibility for damaged items. However, it does affect the value of items offered to me. So the makeup section remains off the list for me. read more

If I could give this store a "negative five" I would. Their merchandise selection is not bad, not great. It is the security's paranoia and intentionally feeling being watched that make it a bad place, regardless of race or whether you are carrying bags or have a backpack or just a purse. Some security or workers stare, act friendly in a fake and fearful way, and always suspicious. At the self-check out they make you show the receipt a couple of times, even though you are right in front of them. Not even in Walmart do you get this poor treatment. Blatant racial profiling against myself & my teenage daughter by the dressing room attendant on 10/25/25. Disgusting behavior. I've frequented this specific location for years along with other Ross locations around the Bay Area and have never been treated this way by any of the staff until 10/25. When I called the attendant out about her behavior she played dumb and tried to gas light me. After leaving I called & spoke to the manager of the day and gave the specifics, he apologized saying they were training some new ppl and he would talk to the employee. My question was, what specifically are you training the employees He asked if I was still in the store and I told him no. I really had to refrain myself especially since my daughter was with me. She turned her back to me when I was next and helped someone else, then she looked over her shoulder and rudely told me to take the clothes off the hanger at the register and I just dropped my selection and I left the store. I went there to return a few items my mother had purchased , she lost her receipt so I was going to do an even exchange or store credit. I am an African American woman . as soon as I walked to the counter the lady instantly said oh no I can't take that you can only return $50 worth of items. She clearly stereotyped me and my husband because we were black. she called her manager over who she wanted to also treat us like criminals but the manager allowed me to return most of my items and just gave me store credit. I will never visit this location again. I will be contacting corporate they should do more sensitivity training. read more

I went to this store with my little girl yesterday. After shopping, we waited in line to pay. A young male cashier, whose name was Humzah, called me next. I've come to this Fremont Hub location for years now and I've never seen him before. He scanned the shoes and clothes, and I paid. He dismissively handed me the receipt between two fingers. It felt very disrespectful. I brought this to his attention but he simply rolled around eyes in a confronting manner. This surprised me so I asked for the manager. He contacted the manager first and he spoke to her for about 3-5 minutes before return to tell me to go see her. While waiting the cashier continued to be rude and sarcastic. Without any interrogation or any chance to explain the manager came over and requested that I leave the store at once. On my way out the store she asked for security assistance. When I asked for the store manager's name but she refused to give it to me. "You don't need to know my name", I feel that was poor management, perhaps the worst I've ever seen. I spend an $3-$500 a month at Ross. But I'll go to Macy's now. At least I'll receive respect and kindness from staff and managers. read more

I just read other people's reviews. I feel it's harsh and unfair to the employees who work there. I witnessed several incidents that people just walked out this store without paying. It's not a few items, it's bags full. The employees need to check your receipt when using self checkout because they are just doing their job. Walmart does the same thing, not just in Costco. If I could give ZERO, I would. Went and noticed the self check out line and thought "this is cool!" Until, as I waited in line, I saw how it worked. You have to stand in line to get to self check out and then you have to stand in line for the freaking loss prevention guy to take off any of the hard tags and "check" your receipt. What the fuck is this? If I wanted you to take them off I would have gone and stood in the basic line. I hate how ross tries "save customers money" by saying they won't higher more people and have us do have the job that doesn't actually make it faster. The shit they sell have the time is made cheaper and specifically for ross, like the luggage. Their work ethics don't save us money. My daughter brought her toy from Marshall's inside the ross. After exchanging words with the loss prevention lady and the lady that stood by her at the front. She followed me outside with her hands up as if she was egging it on trying to fight making faces outside the Ross entrance. I'm already near my car, she followed me outside of the Ross store while my child was with me!! You're supposed to be inside working. This is very unprofessional & unsafe behavior. The customer service in this location is HORRIBLE. The return policy SUCKS. Prices are great, self-checkout great, selection/labels ok, inventory levels poor, cleanliness poor. However, because of the dismissal, inept, rude, dismissive service provided by ALL (except Loss Prevention, who always cheerfully greet and acknowledge customers) I will no longer step foot in this Ross location. 25 minutes in line to return a dysfunctional product while others with purchases only are streaming by me in line was the last straw. I've come her on quite a few occasions to pass time but every time I go it just gets more and more disappointing. I go for the makeup first and this locations makeup is always the same as it is for months I never see new things out. Everything is smashed and smeared and in general the area is quite messy. The clothes are out of order there's smalls in the large and mediums in the smalls. Not only that but the hangers are wrong on a lot of the items which makes it difficult to look around. The other day we finally found something decent- a vanity chair. So we pay for it and take it out, the darn thing didn't fit in our car, our family was out of town so we had nobody to call to pick us up with a truck, so we go ask if we can leave behind our chair and pick it up later (as we've done at SEVERAL other locations) and the workers just shrug and basically say "that's your problem not ours" so we had to return the chair and come back for it the next day. Such an big hassle not to mention that all the workers we encountered were rude and unprofessional. Not coming back. read more

this is our neighborhood ross and every time we come here, it's never a pleasant visit. three times now when checking out i'd get charged for a bag without asking + without even getting my things bagged!!! i will always check my receipt before leaving the register now to double check that they didn't charge me for a bag i never received/used. additionally the worst part is returns/exchanges. the workers are all buddies and take their time, the only people who acknowledge you in the store is loss prevention. today i waited to return 1 item (i had the receipt with me). while i waited for over 15+ minutes, the only person doing returns ALLOWED several people to cut in line cause they were employees. no receipt nor tags on the items they were trying to return which took time away from everyone. chit chatting away, the line grew significantly once the cashier allowed this to keep going. i requested to speak to a supervisor and guess who that was? the person allowing the cutting/doing returns. at all costs, don't stop by this location. besides getting harassed in the parking lot by aggressive homeless people, the workers here are comical to be frank in regards to customer service or even maintaining the store to look decent. i'd recommend stopping by marshals on the other side of this plaza or driving out a few miles to another ross location. to the management at this store, i plan on filing a complaint with corporate as well as this was one too many times of a horrid experience at this specific location. read more

In a large shopping area prices and value are the highlights if your willing to hunt a bit and don't need red carpet treatment. Prices are great for clothing and misc doo-dads. Value is undeniable and hours are late so you can come after hours when other places are closed. The two guys working security set the mood as they greet at the door. The two guys are great at what they do: they are assertive and friendly yet remain dignified. One terrible aspect is how if you buy something heavy carts are unable to go outside and nobody will help you carry something heavy past the front door. No loading zone either. read more

Restroom is behind a door in the back and definitely need more cleaning. Parking is easy to find as it's located in a plaza. The workers are rude, not helpful and honestly it seems like they don't want to be there. I don't expect much but this was even a disappointment. Considering there are plenty of other stores nearby I will NEVER shop at this store. I used the self check out and we have to go to an associate to remove the security device. So I paid and went to the associate. She took my item and yanked the security tag off my item and ripped it. I brought it to her attention and said that you damaged my purchase and she simply said oh sorry. LIKE REALLY WTF. And i told her I no longer wanted the item that she damaged and she told me I can go back in line to return it. now, we all know how long Ross lines are. I know I shouldn't expect too much from this kind of store, but I was a disgusted at the customer service. NEVER will I EVER walk in that store again. I wasn't even fazed by how dirty the store was, the service was far worse than that. DO NOT SHOP HERE. Drive a few miles away to Newark or Union City. All employee's were super cheerful, super helpful, constantly greeting and saying goodbye to customers while still working hard! Even the security's were great ! I've been to this Ross Dress For Less quite a while now, because my mom likes to shop here and find all the bargains she can get a hold of. It's located inside the Fremont Hub Shopping Center here in Fremont, CA. There are 2 entrances to this store, the main one in the front and there's one in the back which leads to the other stores in the shopping center. Both entrances have a security guard manning the door. The store is messy, but it's a pretty big store, so what do you expect? I mean, it's not the workers or the stores fault that it is messy at times, you know whose fault it is, IT'S US THE CUSTOMERS. The store is clean when they open, and throughout the day many customers come and shop at this Ross, so it get's messy. Honestly, all these low reviews, are because the store is usually extremely messy but I mean, c'mon, first off it's Ross, secondly, the customers make it that way. The fitting room is alright, if it's a mess, it's the customers who make it that way, they leave the items and hangers behind. Service at the fitting room is a hit or miss depending on who is working over at the fitting room. Yes, you are required to hang all clothing on the rack before you can receive a number and enter the fitting room, it is store policy. Also, another quick note, the restrooms here at this Ross, are not located at the fitting rooms like at most other Ross's. At this one, there located at very back of the store, by the kitchen supplies. Yes, because this is one of the busiest Ross's in the Fremont Area, at times, there are long lines but they do try to make sure customers don't wait too long in line. Usually, there are at least 3-4 registers open throughout the day on the weekends and weekdays depending on the time you shop and checkout. Shopping Carts: There used to be no shopping carts here at this Ross, but recently they've changed and ordered more shopping carts and now they don't allow you to remove them from the store like before. Once you grab a shopping cart be sure to watch it, otherwise it may be swamped and into someone else's hands. Parking: The parking lot is decent sized but it's usually always full, and it's hard to find a parking space. You usually have to park in the far back and sometimes on the other side by the Pizza Hut. It's a hit or miss, you may find something and sometimes you won't. read more

There'seems to be only 1 depressed looking person working the register and 50 people in line, they are never friendly and they don't even try to apologize for the long wait. They seem to concentrate more on returns/exchanges than people trying to actually purchase things and bring money into this hole. I don't even think there's a manager on call to try to organize the chaos in there. I highly recommend they think about just putting a self checkout lane. It'll be faster, more convenient and customers will get the same attention & friendliness their staff already displays which is : none, zero, not even a hello. If you have to go to Ross then you might as well take the extra drive and go down to Mission Boulevard or Milpitas they seem to be a bit more attentive to their lines. Oh and parking sucks here.
