Why does it look so empty in here?

Uh.....what is happening to all of my Ross stores? Every one of them used to be stocked to the hilt isle after isle. Are you guys going out of business? Welcome to the 1960 store where this strip is always bustling with people there for the movies, dollar store, big lots, book store and one of my favorites, ROSS! I cannot help but notice there is a big empty space somewhat in the middle towards the right hand side of there, I do not know what is going on there but I think this is beginning to be a trend in these stores. Only time will tell. This particular location because it is always busy I can imagine why there is always stuff cluttering the isle. The employees on almost every turn are not into the Ross business but like to talk about the item that they wanted to buy but the customer got it first, etc etc etc. I think the management may need a little looking on how they have their employees acting at work but hey, it's just an $8 job so not much to expect, I don't blame them but I have seen much better at other Ross's. My review is about how the store is viewed on my visit in the middle part of April 2012 and I did not do a product review because it is pretty much you visit one Ross you pretty much have visited the cake mold on all of them. Just some are a lot better handled than others.

We hadn't been in years, and we thought it would be a fun family trip to revisit a store we used to enjoy. When we first arrived, we were greeted warmly by the store manager, Christi, who was kind, professional, and had a genuine smile that set the right tone. The store was not busy, so it was fairly quiet, and you could easily hear my children's laughter echo through the aisles. My son is four--curious, energetic, and, like most toddlers, has a knack for exploring things he shouldn't. My one-year-old daughter giggled as he climbed into one of the large bins--yes, the sturdy, weight-bearing type designed to hold storage items. Of course, as any parent would, I told him to get out. He didn't listen immediately (because, well, he's four), but he wasn't hurting anyone or causing damage. Had anything happened, we're responsible parents and would've made it right. That's why I was completely shocked when an employee named John came marching from the opposite end of the store with a stern, unpleasant expression. Without so much as acknowledging us--the parents--he looked directly at my children and said, in a sharp tone, "Hey kids, get out of there because if you break, you buy." Then he turned and walked away. Not only was this incredibly unprofessional, it was completely inappropriate to speak to someone else's children in that manner. You don't approach toddlers with jargon they don't even understand. You address the parents first. His tone, body language, and delivery made the situation feel unnecessarily hostile and condescending--especially toward two very young kids who were simply being kids. Whether John was having a bad day or just lacks basic customer service skills, it was unacceptable. It left me embarrassed, upset, and frankly appalled that this was how a paying customer and her family were treated--especially in a store that prides itself on organization, sophistication, and service. Although Christi was not aware of what had happened during our visit, her calm and gentle spirit at checkout reminded me what great customer service should feel like. She treated us with genuine kindness and professionalism, completely unaware of the negative experience we'd just had with her employee. Unfortunately, her warmth wasn't enough to undo the damage caused by that interaction. This experience has completely changed how we view this location, and sadly, it will be the last time my family and I shop here. I sincerely hope The Container Store addresses this type of behavior and ensures no other family is ever made to feel the way we did that day.

A lover of all things…read moreconsignment, vintage, and retail, I knew I'd be in for a treat when we pulled up and I noticed the size of the shop. Comprised of both the main store and an intake area, StillGoode dominates the shopping strip. Apparently consignment is by appointment only, but this review is not about that process, it's about the fun stuff, furniture shopping! Browsing from aisle to aisle, it was clear that everything was in pretty good shape. While the shop as a whole embraced traditional furniture offerings, I occasionally ran across a few items in other styles (an oversized burl coffee table, boucle accent chairs, and various farmhouse pieces for example). The pricing is pretty competitive, especially if you're willing to overlook a few minor markings of wear and tear. It far more expensive than your Goodwill, or Junior Forum, but less expensive than your inner loop curated consignment boutique, and certain a better value that purchasing new. More than that I appreciate the demeanor of the staff. They're helpful but not at all overbearing. They're friendly and available without hovering. It's a relaxed, low pressure environment that allows the customer to feel comfortable taking their time to make decisions. In addition to carrying high quality furniture they also carry decor, framed artwork, jewelry, and handbags. Although my husband and I didn't find anything on this trip, I'm sure we'll be back in a few months to take a look at the new inventory.
