Got there at 930 am trying to miss the morning chaos and grab me some sunglasses (all name brand for a fraction of the price) Walked into the store and was immediately great by a young lady wishing me a good morning. Brownie points right there. At that moment I knew I was going to find good things. I would up buying 4 pairs of cool @ss shade for a total of $31. Hangten, Reaction, Shawn Paul, and Timberlake. I just wanted them all that my weekly splurge. Meet an amazing employee Jamel who took the time to assist with on of my glasses and that had no price tags. He averaged it down , great customer service and proceeded to take 19% off which was a blessing. He himself was a yelper and shared a few stories. I am giving it 4 stars (not sure why it has a low rating) because for a Ross, I feel like they have a decent selection here. The only downside is they haven't had a Hello Kitty workout mat like a ton of other stores have had according to the internet. Shantell, the Cashier who checked us out was excellent. This was my first time coming to Ross and I'm going to start with a customer service before I get to selection. Shantell had the best sense of humor and was most friendly. I was impressed with her pleasant smile, her approach to customers, and the prices. I was in search for a quality towels which I had not been able to find at a reasonable price until today. I was able to mix and match colors which was ideal And they had a wide selection of spices which I was not looking for. This place is interesting because they have a lot of cool stuff. They are now doing their own sheets and blankets and house goods under different names one of which is style sanctuary. A lot of the things they are selling under those names are very hip and I like them. Unfortunately you can't tell when they're going to be in the store until you have to keep coming back until you find what you want. The prices are pretty good here, the selection is hit or miss, but the staff is ambivalent on a good day. They have this thing where they expect you to leave the carts inside the store so basically if you buy more than a couple things you are stuck trying to carry everything out on several trips hoping it doesn't get stolen out of the cart. Not a fan. Today when I went in there was a cart from a different store sitting out front so I brought it in thinking I could fill it up and then bring it right back out to my car but no, the security guard tells me that that is a security risk and I might get hurt from that cart so I'm not allowed to bring it in. This is one of the nicest Ross Dress for Less I've every been in, which I suspect is because it's located at Town Center. It's always busy with waits to check out averaging 5-7 minutes, depending on how many cash registers they have open. This is my go to store when I'm looking for athletic shoes or sandals that I use for my dog sitting service. I wear out the athletic sandals pretty quickly with all the dog walking. On this trip however I was unable to find any athletic shoes or sandals that I liked. But I did check out some of their clearance. I found a couple of cute tops on clearance. I also checked out the clearance in several different departments, such as sleepwear, bath, and shoes. The beauty section, which includes, hair care products and other beauty items, was very disorganized today. All other sections of the store that I visited were organized. I waited about 5 minutes for checkout. The associate was friendly. And got me on my way quickly! read more

Customer had picked up my phone while I was trying on shoes. I had only been in the store 5 mins. I ask security if they have found a phone he says no. Girl behind the counter says yes. Than they proceed to ask me to call it before they will give it back. I don't have a phone to call it with?!? Mean while they still have my phone and all my information including id and credit cards in my phone case. Then they ask me the phone number. I give them the phone number but that does nothing. Then ask me what case is on it and I tell them black again still won't give it to me. It's not until I tell them about the screen saver will they give my phone back. I hadn't planned on going to Ross this past Mother's Day but my mother wanted to walk around and check it out. After being dejected from not finding any shoes in DSW with a coupon, I forgot all about that store and found 4 pairs of shoes in 10 minutes! The biggest shoe find for me was a pair of Speedo sneakers my exact size in turquoise blue, black and white on clearance for $9.99! OMG! I can match these shoes to my Jumbo Shrimp shirts! I also was able to find 3 dressy tops also on clearance for less than $9 a piece. All in all, my mother and I ended up walking out of there spending $200. Was it worth it? Yup. Would I do it again? I've been standing line for 20 minutes to check out. There are 2 employees at front of store playing with the hangers rack. There are currently 12 customers waiting in line. I hear customer behind me stating that it is always like this at this location. ALL ROSS stores are like this... the CEO needs to sit down with his management teams and build a better solution to this never ending, ongoing ridiculously poor customer service and having 7 registers with only 1 cashier and 1 CUSTOMER SERVICE counter open amd employees ALL OVER THE DAMN STORE. This is just horrible amd to hear the customer service rep on duty tell customers in line that she cannot help anyone unless they are returning or exchanging something is absolutely the most POOR example of a customer service representative. There is ONE register open and that is Register 6 amd the cashier takes 3 to 5 minutes on each customer. There is a kid behind me coughing and getting his germs all over me. I like Ross. I find good deals at Ross. However, this particular store is always such a mess. I'm no discount store newbie - I cull the racks of Ross, Bealls Outlet, and Dillards Outlet on a regular basis. But this store is just crazy. When it first opened, it was clean and organized. Over time, it had hit a level of messy that never seems to go away. You can bring 8 items into the dressing room at a time but the attendants are crazy militant about not counting the clothing until it is out of your hands and on the rack. The bathroom is on lockdown and you must ask permission to use the facilities so the attendant can push the button and let you in. The last time I was buzzed into a door, I was in a jewelry store, not entering a bathroom. The sad part is I'm guessing these changes come from theft issues. So, people, stop stealing so this store can be less jail like! As for the rest of the store, it's fine. I've never had a checkout issue and have always had hassle free returns. Bottom line: good deals, but you have to dig through some mess to find them. read more

This is one of my favorite stores to shop at. This store in particular has a great inventory. The racks are always full with great selections. The shoe and purse sections are huge. The store is very bright and well organized. They carry men's, ladies and children's clothing. There are a few brand names in the racks but it's hit or miss. You are allowed six items in the dressing room. They are strict about that rule. There is a small toy area, housewares, bath and bedding and even animal areas. There is an aisle with gourmet foods that I like to look at when I'm there. I always find something unique. During the holidays there are extra tables out filled with all kinds of gift ideas. Everything from slippers, bath soaps, wallets, throws, perfumes and chocolates and candy. I mean if you don't know what to buy someone you will definitely find something in this store. Really good hostess gifts if you're looking for one. When you line up to pay the lines are usually really long during peak times. How have I not reviewed Ross??? This is my go to for dresses- hands down! Super cheap, I usually spend $10-$15 per dress and that can include semi-formal dresses! I love grabbing dresses for work and some for the beach too. This location at town center is usually packed with customers- but they also have a better selection because they are busier! Be prepared to wait in line. I actually was next in line and someone walked up the side and totally bypassed the line and cut me off- I was standing there irritated when another cashier noticed and opened their register just for me! Good customer service- thank you for getting me taken care of! I avoid Ross on Saturdays though- madhouse isn't even a strong enough word. With all their business, it's not always the cleanest store- but having worked retail I can attest that you can finish cleaning an aisle and within 10 minutes someone will come through and wreck it! Before I lived in Jacksonville, I always requested to go to Ross when I was down here visiting from CT. I'm a plus size girl (for the time being and not afraid to admit it) so extended sizes were always a bit more expensive and harder to find. Marshall's and TJMaxx has some selections, but it was always clothing that older people would wear (lol) when it came to plus size clothing. What I like about Ross is that I can find a variety of shirts, pants and even dresses in my size without putting much a dent in my wallet. I can buy about 6 or 8 clothing items for the same price as one pair of pants from Lane Bryant or somewhere similar. If that's the case, why not! I've been coming here every week since I moved down here to replace a lot of clothes that I lost after a very sudden breakup, and each week I find something new. I like that you can have up to 8 clothing items to try on at a time. If you have more, just leave them in your cart outside of the dressing rooms for round two of fittings after you exhaust the first 8. The only cons are that you have to really search for things sometimes since there seems to be some disorganization; plus, the line to checkout can get incredibly long and the wait is unbearable sometimes, especially during the weekends. Some of the employees are friendly and some need to learn better customer service. It is what it is. If you are broke and need a closet overhaul at the same time, then it's safe to say Ross should be the store you check out first. I usually love a good Ross trip, I've learned that I can't rely on Ross if I have a specific need with a timeline etc but if I happen to be in the mood to browse or pick up a new candle, sure! This particular trip, the store was chaos, not sure if it was because they were trying to put out new Christmas merchandise or just poor leadership but walking around the store it was actually dangerous metal racks laying in aisles, brooms laying across aisles, etc... there were many employees on duty, however only two cashiers, just seemed like too many chiefs and not enough indians, hopefully they get more organized before the Christmas rush! So Ross is a fantastic discount store, and the location at Town Center is perfect. I'm not a fan of the busy-ness of Town Center, but I only come here during-the-week so it's not too bad. At Ross you have to shop the racks and look for that perfect bargain, but when you do, it's fantastic. You can find unique things here if you really look and the prices are unbeatable. I love shopping here. It takes time, but well worth it. I always get my son's traditional Christmas Jelly Belly's here... every year I get him some sort of Jelly Belly gift. This year I found a large 1.3 pound box of Jelly Belly's for $12.99! Awesome! The small bags are $5 and here I got over a pound for $12.99. I can always count on getting a great deal on this special treat and it is usually something unique like a cool dispenser or special gift box like this one. This is the ONLY store I can find these in every year for a reasonable price. They also have lots and lots of other gifts, you can really get almost all your holiday shopping done here with some patience. It is definitely worth the sorting and searching you have to put into it. The treasures are here. If you don't find it the first time, come back the next week or ask what day they stock the shelves then come back. This place is never my first choice when shopping for clothes or housewares or anything but you can occasionally find some hidden gems in this place. Digging for amazing clearance finds will take some time but almost not worth the time. The clothes is always a disorganized mess. The check out lines are long and take forever sometimes. The are only willing to hold clothes until end of business day so forget about housewares and other misc items. The staff is nice enough but they definitely won't go out of the way or anything. They also should hire a different corporate buyer for all the merchandisers here. Selections are few, half are either opened or broken. Is there really a difference between Ross, TJ Maxx and Marshall's? Not really. But with Ross, I've found it to be the best place to get travel bags and maybe the odd piece of furniture or a quick toy. As is the big hit or miss with Ross, the question is upon entering what will you find, a sordid mess or a clean, comfortable experience. In the case of this store it was the latter. This store is packed full. Come here to find designer clothing at a more affordable cost. This store is a decent size but I don't think it can house all of the stuff they try to stuff in it. I usually don't come here because I don't like to pick through clothes to try to find something. That's what you have to do here. I'm trying to make this a positive instead of negative review because it's not a bad store. The employed are usually nice. My complaint is just overstock and the organization needs a lot of work. This place is much less crowded than the Ross in Town Center. But they (seem to) have a much smaller selection...at least in the men's department. What they do have, as usual at Ross, is priced to sell. Some great deals can be had here. Especially in the Clearance racks. I love the deals I can find on shoes and socks. So, my wife and I go to the Ross address 10261 River Marsh Drive, Jacksonville FL 32246 and we had picked out Items to buy that would have totaled over $200 at the register. I see a jacket I like and wanted to try it on. I go to the fitting room and saw two employees there waiting for customers like myself and told them I wanted to try the jacket, they told me to put the jacket on the T-rack, so I assumed they wanted to count the item, but it was only 1 item to begin with. I begin to remove the jacket from the hanger and one of the employees tells me wait one second and I said ok we stand there for almost a minute and I say what am I waiting for? She tells me she must count the item then hands me a number as I walk to the dressing stall in the dressing room. I can hear them both complaining that customers always look at them like they are stupid when the sign is clearly there in front of the customer to follow what the sign says and on and on they complain. As I stand there outside the stall listening to the employees complain I turn around and walk out of the dressing room due to the dismay that I caused them by not following the stores policy on hanging items up to count. I walk out and tell them both you know what because of the way you are talking about me I will not buy anything from the store and she said fine by me. I quickly find my wife and tell her we are leaving, and I search for a manager, I see one on my way out the door, she is a front retail manager and a security guard by her side. I ask are you the manager she says yes but I then notice a man in a blue shirt uniform and dressed as if he could be a manager above her I tell him what happened to me at the dressing room and he tells me are you sure she is not like that. I tell him what you think, I'm making that up I ask him, and he doesn't even bother to investigate the concern and ensures the employees he is off shift 30min ago anyway, so I said you're going to let that happen to us he shrugs then turn away. So, I walk out of the store with my wife noticing nothing would get done, at that time Dave Wilkinson the manager I was speaking with followed. As we are leaving I tell Dave I cannot believe this is happening to us and I yell out to him I am putting this on Yelp, he yells back at me go ahead spread your lies some wear else, at the point he angers my wife and she tells him what a shitty manager he is and we won't ever shop at Ross again, then I yell out don't even bother he looks like a damn trump supporter anyway. When I had said that Dave yells to me oh you want to go (implying fighting) we are not in the store anymore and threatens to want to fight me. I reassure my wife to not be frightened that dumb ass won't do a damn thing to use unless he is looking for a lawsuit at that point he turns toward his car and I yell out one last insult to him as we walk in the same direction to our vehicles I told him he should be cleaning toilets and not managing a store. So that is my experience at the Ross in the Town Center sad to say but Ross has lost our business. I had spent thousands while living here in Jacksonville but not another penny will ever see Ross again, but others will see how a manager Dave Wilkinson handles customer complaint. read more
