Randomly stopped at this Ross on the way home from something in Palo Alto. It was a nice Ross lots of cute things to be found here! I had to return an outfit I bought at another Ross that was too short for me and it was easy to return. Took a look around, they had lots of juicy jewelry, hello Kitty, and even a Betty boop pj set! Lots of great products right now in stock for Valentine's Day. I ended up buying the hello Kitty keychain and hat! Was clean and organized in here and the people working here were friendly too. Today I came on Saturday and there's only one cashier and one of the items does not have a price tag not only I had to go get the same item with the tag and when I come by another cashier came and seems doesn't understand English and didn't know to help me and ignore me even after the original cashier told her in Spanish and she just said next person and left me standing there!!!! and makes me very angry. What a lousy service and what I don't understand is people here don't speak English( or purpose not speak English) and this is America. Please speak English. Please have some customer service! Please have some integrity when doing any job! It reflects the image of the store and the store manager is no where to be found! Don't ever go here! Although the staff are nice, the manager KAT FOSTER is very racist, rude, and disrespectful. She belittled and called my grandparents out of name! I'm appalled by this behavior! My grandparents are the sweetest people, and for her to have treated them in the matter that she did, only because they were confused about pricing! I know English was not their first language but, they have never had an issue communicating with anyone in the past! Nevertheless you're a "manager" this is your job!! I love Ross, but the store associate with the bright red hair was so idiotic! As I was trying to walk in, she was fixing the automatic door and looked at me with a blank stare without stating a single word. At the very least, she could have said "Hang on, I am trying to fix the door and will let you in soon" or something to this effect. Eventually, after waiting 2 minutes, I walked in through the main exit. Also, Loss Prevention is now checking receipts like Costco, so it would be great if they could say that upfront rather than just randomly approaching me with a highlighter after I have checked out with the cashier and am leaving the store. read more

I had been in this location a couple times in the last couple of months, and each time they had locked their fitting rooms once about 30 minutes before and last night 2 hours before they were scheduled to close according to their posted hours. I was told when I asked that it was because they were short staff, It doesn't look true. The lady on the fitting room was trying to put the clothes away before 10 pm. Never the greatest deal for one of these discount chains - I've had amazing luck with home goods and even Marshall's but this place just never does fabulous. The space is huge but it's often sparsely filled, a lot of aisles are either threadbare or on the other extreme look like a car hit them. Additionally the quality of goods is often pretty terrible or damaged and not any cheaper than other discount chains. Occasionally some pet items might be ok or there could be some decent toys, but I've honestly had better luck finding undamaged clothes at goodwill or Savers. Go elsewhere for the discount chain experience. read more

I think if that is the case they should schedule these activities outside the business or post some kind of sign. I don't appreciate driving and being unable to shop with the rising cost of fuel. Any store that is pet friendly gets extra kudos from me! I called ahead to make sure I could bring my pup in, and the lady kindly told me that they're welcomed as long as they're on a leash or in a cart (if no leash) and not aggressive. When we came around 10pm, everyone was really friendly and welcoming except for the fitting room lady who was a tad bit rude, but everyone else was sweet. I came for socks and browsed doggy items but also left with Ghirardelli peppermint chocolate, lol damn you candy aisle!!!! Strategically placed in the front to get suckers like me 5 stars for the friendly staff and large variety of pet selection, more than I've seen at any other Ross's I've been to lately. I was looking for a jacket for my doggo since he'll be going to the snow soon, and I was pleasantly surprised to see many different options! They also had a lot of leashes for a very good price, too bad I didn't come to this location sooner because the other Ross's I've been to had no leashes. I went in today to buy perfume. And I love juicy couture so I end up finding one for 20$ so I was like ok cool let's try this thinking it was a good size like medium or something. So I end up buying it and getting home and I opened the packaging. And I was just so disappointed and sad that I spend 20$ on a small ass size perfume that wasn't worst the price whatsoever. I liked the things they had in this establishment, I went in for just a few things and mostly found what I was looking for. The only thing I'd say is double check pricing for cosmetics at least cause some were priced higher than if you had bought them brand new which is kinda scamy, also check that products have the protective seal cause if not they are contaminated and should not be purchased ;) I spent more then I would anticipate for what I bought but I do like what I found‍ read more

Well, it's Ross. Kind of feel like you in a bazaar. Items strewn all over the place, but the prices are right. Also I find the service here to be pretty good. It just took me a long time to find undershirts in my size. Everything is all mixed in. With deals like they have, it's hard to keep things in order. This location is one of the more bigger stores real estate-wise. Upon walking into the store, you are greeted by the security guard. Looking ahead, you will find this large open space with high ceilings, racks and racks of clothing for both Men and Women. Lots of clearance items as well. When I went to this store on 1/20/19, the store was so empty--bare racks and shelves. I assumed that it was going out of business. We took a couple minutes to look around and then left. I asked a cashier at a nearby store if Ross was closing, and was told that they are not closing, but that their stock room is very backed up and they can't get the merchandise out. Not a good sign folks. And not a good way to stay in business in a competitive market. I was happy to find their competition (the one with 2 X's in the name) just on the next block & did my shopping there. Based on the long line, there's more than enough customers to go around. I came across a cashier at Ross who's name is Cece, her rude behavior made it obvious that she hates her job or maybe her life all together. Having not experienced this behavior in the past, I asked to speak to a Mgr. she refused to call anyone, asked me to get back to the line before she could call someone or go back to the RC store. I then called the store using my personal phone & promptly a Mgr named Carlos came & very attentively helped sort out my transaction. During my hunt for hangers of the walnut and chrome variety to match the rest of my closet, I visited 3 Ross(es) in a single day, including this one. This was by far the cleanest, organized and most spacious of all. The managers of the Ross in San Mateo and Redwood City need to take a page out of this one's book. Aisles were wide, with enough space for 2 carts and then some, clearly in an attempt to improve the browsing experience for shoppers. The section for children's clothes & toys is even more roomy than the rest of the store - great for kids to run around or play without getting in the way of other customers. The lines were shockingly short and unbelievably well-directed, with an actual rope to make sure that people in line don't block any of the aisles and rows of merchandise. As far as the merchandise is concerned, other than when I'm buying suitcases full of toys for my younger siblings back in Jakarta, I only ever visit three sections when I go to Ross: the kitchenware, hangers, and home accessories - all of which had less to choose from than the San Mateo location (possibly because the San Carlos one is the preferred location and provides a stress-free shopping experience). read more

(so i leave pronto). this store was different. toiletries, food items, eyewear, men's 501 jeans, kitchenware was seen. another oddity-shelves were mostly bare, racks not filled.. buys: italian potware (17.99) -pretty heavy, haven't seen before in other ross stores/discount stores in bay area. -good value. notes: -not many shoppers here on father's day. -lots of paking in lot. read more

I came here with my hubby because I wanted to find cheap sleepwear, BUT the selection is terrible. The stock of clothes and housewares is very limited. I like a good bargain, but I don't want to sacrifice quality either and there are times when I find hidden jewels at Ross, but this is not the time. The store is also not very organized. It's chaotic! If you are looking for a specific color in a certain size -- FORGET ABOUT IT! IT'S NOT HAPPENING HERE. This Ross makes me sad. It's such a large space and the racks always seem bare! I actually found items to purchase on this particular trip, but out of the six times I've visited this was the first time I found anything to purchase. Of course that's just my personal preference. This Ross is very impressive from the outside but inside it's just as bare as most other Ross stores. It's odd. Their racks don't have many clothing and the stuff that is there is rather low quality. There's so much space in this store too, so I don't really understand why the stores can't fill the shelves. Everything is displayed haphazardly as well. read more

I was there today buying luggage and I was very disappointed to see they only had few pieces. I picked one with noticeable scratches and ink mark but the manager in charge did not approve the 10% off . She said it's not considered damaged. I had the honor of catering the grand opening of this store on Saturday, July 19th. This new store is dedicated to the memory of company founder and philanthropist, Stuart Moldaw who passed away in May this year. He actually was supposed to have been there, so it was sad when his widow went up to say some words. She is a really sweet lady; she loved my Cinnamon Hazelnut biscotti and asked for my business card (yay!) After we were finished catering the event, we checked out the inside of the store. It was spacious, very well organized. I hope it stays that way because sometimes discount stores tend to get trashed by customers! Paul, the manager on duty, was charming and very helpful. My wife likes shopping here because it has a big selection, not the shoes compared to the one in San Mateo. Me I don't like it here for two reasons, 1. Music is always the same, black 98% the 2% others. 2. Music is too loud a lot a times, make that most of the time. 3. I called the office today and asked to turn it down a little. The young woman said she called someone then laid the phone down, music loud over the phone too. No one answered me after five I hung up. When we left the store about two hours later it was still loud. That's the only reason why I don't like it here. Shopping with my wife and suffering along the way. The only reason I stopped is I was on my way home from the TJ Maxx Home store nextdoor, and I thought , why not? I took 4 pairs of jeans to the dressing room...now the fun begins. The lady counting the clothes stood there and went thru every pant leg of every pair of jeans I brought to try on........It took forever and when I asked her what she was doing, she didn't answer..... Now, I am not quite sure what she was looking for but she didn't find it. As I was trying on the jeans, I started to get angry....but, I guess theft is the norm in there, but then again, what would anyone want to steal in Ross?....and what could I get down a pant leg????? Now this is why I am writing this.....as I was coming out, I had to wait while she checked another lady in.....but get this, she had at least 5 pairs of pants and yes, you guessed it.......SHE DIDN'T CHECK HER PANT LEGS......
