Ross Stores offer low prices and hidden gems of deals if you are patient and have the time to shop and browse through their racks. I especially love Ross for dresses and for fun and, seasonable items to add to my mostly dark colored business wardrobe. Great selection of housewares at this location too. Clean dressing rooms. Did you know, each year, caring Ross employees across the country promote supporting children and youth in our communities? I love how they encourage customers to join them in their support. The employees here are warm and friendly. I also like the selection of fun, holiday themed gifts near the front of the store, if you need to grab a gift. We recently went to this store, everything was fine until checkout, this girl Jessi or something was extremely rude, she was throwing all the clothes, she didn't even said "Hello" or the common things you supposed to say. If I could i would put 0 stars. I would not recommend going to this store or giving this girl some head up to be nicer. read more

VERY unclean & not organized. You'll find good stuff here, but the place itself is very cluttered, unclean, messy. In the bath&body section, lots of opened/stolen and used things. Toy section is all over the place. I'd just say this place is trashy. read more

I can't really complain. While I didn't score as much as I usually do at Ross stores, I did find some very nice children's clothes here as Christmas gifts. Some of their stuff is super cute and looks expensive but the prices are bargain basement. Locations are hit or miss. This place is a miss. After finding out that the awesome boots I scored at the Bloomingdale location had a missing clasp for the shoelace, I decided to come here and see if they had the same boots in the the same size. They didn't. But that's not the reason for the two-star review. The store had a much smaller, unappealing selection. On top of that, all three employees working there seemed incredibly unhappy. Granted, it was 8pm on a Thursday night and the store was nearly empty, but they just looked so bored/sad that it made me feel the same way. Boo. WARNING ROSS sells KNOCK OFF Cologne and perfume. I can't believe Ross is now selling knock off Cologne. They used to be my one stop shop for Cologne and perfume. I purchased a bottle of CK one 6.7 oz on the right a about six months ago. Noticed a liquid in the right side almost empty bottle it's clear and it smells good. The bottle on the left has a yellowish color the bottle itself is a different shape than the right one and the smell smells like rubbing alcohol. I've purchased enough knock offs know as soon as I smell it what it smells like and this is a knock off. I bought originally I expressed this issue that I've had previously with the same brand and the manager told me that if it wasn't smelling right I could bring it back. I would return the next day after my Observations made. I asked return it the supervisor on duty refused to give me that managers name refuse to give me a return or exchange. Again my frustration and wasting my time energy at shopping at a place that I've trusted for a long time. I definitely feel let down and can you tell the quality of customer service is he really don't care about the customer because of the discounted prices. Walking in here, I had never seen or been to a "Ross" store before, but seen lots of TV ads, and when I was in the neighborhood, I saw it and figured I'd pop in. Went with the hubbs, no real idea in mind for needing a particular item, just wanted to browse and scope it out. We quickly discovered it was like a smaller version of TJ Maxx... This store was filled with very odd clientele, I guess it drew in some very quirky and creepy characters... but we tried to ignore it and scan the racks, mainly targeting some discounted but good quality athletic wear. My husband could not find anything Under Armour brand or anything along those lines in their sportswear, so his search was over quickly. I found a decent black hoodie-zippy, with long sleeves, and sewn in holes for your thumbs, exactly what I had been wanting recently...the pink zipper and slight stitching detail had me sold, and it was somewhere around $20, not bad. Also found a "leather" jacket I thought I would like (but later ended up returning it...oh joy, had to come back here a 2nd time....) It was not that busy in the check out line and after the lady in front of us was called ahead, we stood at the front of the line, with one associate just walking back & forth behind the row of registers, and the man at the returns/exchanges counter, just staring down at something. I feel like as a customer with money, trying to make a purchase, one of these two clearly un-busy employees should have looked at me, items in hand, and greeted me with a smile & said something along the lines of, "I can help whoever is next :)" but instead I was left standing there like an idiot...about to give it 15 more seconds before I put everything back and walked out the door. They weren't that busy at the registers and they completely ignored me. So I outgoingly approached the man at the register for returns/exchanges and asked if it was ok if I could check-out here. He said it was, and grabbed my items to begin scanning them, the first of which he scanned twice. I caught him on it and informed him of his honest mistake, (glad I was paying attention! Most people don't watch the register as each item is scanned and double check the price) and he told me he would just take it off at the end of the transaction. So he scanned the last item, looked at me, and read the total... with the double scanned item still on there, and just stood there expecting payment.... so basically if I wasn't paying attention AGAIN, and just handed him my payment, I would be paying double for 1 item. So I informed him again of his mistake, and then he removed it, got the correct total, I paid and got out of there. Something about the whole situation was just off putting...and I don't want to go back... the fluorescent lighting is harsh and it's bringing in people-of-Wal-Mart shoppers, and it all just kind of stresses me out. I'm not being elitist, hey I'm frugal, and a penny-pincher, but I just don't feel compelled to come back and shop here for the same reasons why I avoid Wal-Mart at all costs... I also could do without being asked to pay double at the register where I had to approach and inquire if it was ok to make some purchases with him. I'm over it. The thing about Ross stores is that they're a treasure hunt. If you go in there thinking "I need a new purse that looks good and has lots of pockets," you can usually find something to fit the bill. However, if you go into one of these thinking of a very specific purse that you want, you may end up disappointed. It's the same with shoes, or anything else you look for here. As long as you allow some latitude in what you want, you'll be fine. You can usually find some killer deals on things, too. Not just horrible stuff no one would want -- I've gotten some really cute stuff here before. I get compliments on my current purse all the time, and where do you think I found it? (Actually, a different location than this one -- BUT.) The other cool thing about Ross stores is that, if you have more than one in the area, you can find a completely different selection of merchandise in each store you visit. There may be some overlap, but a lot of stuff will be different. Call me crazy, but doesn't that mean your choices just expanded? These stores are also good for kitchen stuff. I like both Ross and HomeGoods for random gourmet ingredients. Ross also seems to have Yorkshire Tea a lot, which is great -- one of my favorite go-to breakfast teas. (While I wish they had it loose rather than bagged, I won't quibble. It's still good.) On this particular trip, I needed a new pair of shoes. And I found them. And they were $15. I like a good bargain, especially because I'd rather spend my money on more important things -- like food. read more

I never really understood the hype about this place... yeah they have good deals, but nothing else better than TJ Maxx or Marshall's. Store is smaller, but it is clean and the cashiers are always super nice. Last time I was there I just treated myself to some Martini Mixers (pre-made non-alcoholic stuff) and got my dog a new bed -- both were decently priced. I love this store for what they sell. Great finds for great prices. Their customer service however... The cashiers almost always seem to have an attitude. Not friendly, no smile. They really have no problem showing that they hate working there. Other associates usually don't know where anything is or don't speak English so they don't understand when you ask them where an item is. The store is usually messy, like any other discount place. First of all, let me explain how excited I was that Ross was coming to the Chicago Market! I was familiar with the Ross Dress for Less stores in Southern California, and found them to be a good deal and worth while. This is not true for the Chicago area Ross Stores, especially the Schaumburg store at Schaumburg & Barrington Rds. Every Ross store I enter in Illinois feels empty to me. It's like they only received half of their merchandise. I thought this would improve with time but it has not. I laugh at the current Ross Back to School commercial where the 2 girls are shopping floor to ceiling domestics for their dorm room. That's no Ross I've ever been in! Even this did not prevent me from buying some clothes one day. My worst experience happened recently when I went back to return an item with a receipt. I waited 20 minutes while no less than 7 employees gossiped, complained, helped other customers (the customer in front of me in line needed 3 employees to assist her for some reason). At no time did any Ross employee look up and make eye contact with me. I spent 20 minutes staring at junk for sale on display on end caps near the front. They were so messy, I still can't tell you what was for sale. I eventually left when the cashier said she could help me but was distracted when another cashier asked a question and she never came back. My whole Ross experience was ruined when I finally returned my item at the Hoffman Estates store. While this store seems cleaner, it still feels empty to me. Then I was given a $10 merchandise credit for my item even with my receipt because 30 days had now passed. I threw the credit away because I will NEVER shop at any Ross store ever again. I was in this store tonight around 8 PM for the the first time. I was very disappointed. I was in the men's dept it was way to small (only a couple of racks) and every rack was disorganized, clothes pointing all different ways, clothes on the floor etc. This store was a pit. I have never been in a store where almost every rack (mens and womens) had clothes on the floor below it. The seemed to have staff working (none of them said a word to me). I asked the neighboring store if this store was always in disarray and with excessive clothes and items on the floor. They said yes. After this experience I have no desire to go back. TJMAXX and Marshalls are leaps and bounds ahead of this store. I did send a note to their Corporate office via their website. So perhaps it will get better after all I'm happy to see the strip malls with stores. But this one was such a disappointment. read more

Horrible customer service! Walked in tonight on the door it said they were open until 11 walked in around 10. My mom told this lady Kathy Garcia or whatever oh the doors locked since only the exit door was open and she said sarcastically it probably is closed for a reason. On my way out I told this woman I did not want her to help us because she was rude for no reason from the second we walked in. She called a manager over and the manager did not resolve anything although she was very kind. Didn't even offer us a discount. Definitely not going back considering the fact they don't want customers there AN HOUR BEFORE CLOSING TIME. Would rate 0 stars if I could. Ive been working customer service for years but have never experienced something so rude so all of a sudden. I like this Ross store, I always find great stuff here. I find the store to be clean when I go, I tend to go shortly after they open during the week. If you go at night or the weekend it's going to be packed and the lines will be long. read more

On Wednesday, August 9, 2017, My mom and I went to Ross to spend a little mother-daughter time together. Walking into the store, I noticed and made a note of how messy everything was-however that is not why I am writing this review. I managed to fall in love with an item and rushed into an empty line with pure excitement to get this item. I was the only one in line for purchases and the returns line next to me was empty. There was only one worker that was helping a family with their returns so I waited patiently. As I was waiting, I was getting annoyed by the sight of two workers chatting with each other (right in front of me) while more people continue to go into line (the return line) where I notice that one worker clocked out and another, Enza, wandered around for a bit and then went to the returns section and took a guest for returns (make note that there is no-one in the purchase cash-registers and two workers in the returns-registers). Extremely annoyed that I just got skipped, I just remained calm and waited patiently. However, Enza continued to skip me and my mom and continued to take people from the return-lane (for the second time now). At this moment, my mom mentioned to her that we had been waiting and she was skipping us where she started acting extremely obnoxiously rude to both of us claiming that she needs to continue taking the return customers before us. At that moment, I just simply asked for a manager to come settle the situation however apparently there was no manager at the store and she pointed to herself claiming to be the closest thing to a manager. At that moment, I was extremely upset and asked her for her name (Enza) where she continued to be extremely rude to me, making comments such as "what are you going to do, get me fired? good luck" and while I was mentioning to her how rude it was that she and another coworker were chatting while another employee was helping a customer-she started to talk-over me in a very aggressive manner. During this whole situation, another employee, Alonzo, came in and checked out my mother and the remaining customers waiting in line for the purchase section. This was supposed to be a really enjoyable experience for me to have with my mom, I went into that line with excitement and left the store in complete distress. I had been told from a few family members that this store was not worth the time with a bad selection and high prices. I was looking for some shirts so I decided to stop in anyway. Without going into too much detail this place has the stock of a thrift store at normal retail prices. The funny thing is I actually work here at this location. I see a lot of reviews talking about bad customer service. When in fact it is actually quite decent. I used to shop here even before I got the job. What you need to put in consideration is that more than 60% of the people that come in to our store to find things have a certain item in mind that they want. Now when that customer doesn't find it they then ask the associates where it is...when we tell them we don't have it and that it is pretty much what you see is what we have, the customer gets pissy. I applied for job area supervisor E Schaumburg, IL with Ross Stores on May 24, 2015 and received an automated response for the assessment test. I took an assessment test and received a phone call on June 17th for an interview next day at 9 am. I went to location; I asked for manager I'm here for an interview. She said I don't know who called you, when I explained she agreed to interview me and said everything looks good we'll call you for a 2nd interview next two days. I waited five days and followed up with the store manager. She said Jamie will call tomorrow. No phone calls but after four days I received email its saying At this time, we are considering other candidates. I'm very well qualifying the job I have applied. Store was filthy today. Bathroom made me want to puke and didn't have any hand soap. My 5 year old had to go so we had to go in the nasty bathroom. I told a couple of workers that someone needs to clean the bathroom but they just laughed and did nothing. First time being at this store though I did find two cute tops I will never go back because of the filth. Pretty sure that Im not coming again. Its messy, Selections were poor, and I had the rudest cashier. Long story short-- We stood there long enough for 2 customers to be rung up after us looking for a large plastic bag to bag stuff that she chose not to bag. We were clearly looking around and voiced "Wheres the large plastic bag" and my husband was looking for it. SHe just ignored us. THEN I get a call from the store manage who...to be honest (Ive worked in retail long ago and know how it works--when a customer complains you say you will talk with the associate about it but you really dont and you make fun at the customer for the situation) I feel that he did just that. He didnt really seem sorry for the incident but called me as a formality. He said he would talk to her, but after stating to me that the items I bought were normally not bagged-- but come on I bought like 5-6 curtain rods and how am I supposed to carry those out?
