As a person that loves to decorate and loves a bargain even more, At Home has some great options for home decoration at super reasonable prices. I love Marshall's and TJ Maxx and At Home tends to run a little cheaper but the quality is still great. My favorite part is their candle aisle! "At Home" was advertised on Pandora radio during summer. As a homeowner, I wanted to see what this superstore was about yet didn't have a chance to do so. Well, I should say I wasn't really eager to travel to a brick-and-mortar store since online shopping for home is more convenient, and often times, cheaper without having to leave the comfort of my own residence. The first impression I had was how similar it was to "HomeGoods," except it was a larger space. There were Christmas trees and decorations near the entrance, three (3) aisles of chairs I saw next, and planters, gardening essentials, poufs and ottomans against the walls. I then spotted some sofas, loveseats, and outdoor furniture toward the back of venue. I then walked through the rug and carpet department. It was quite disorganized. Items were picked over and placed on the floor instead of getting put back on the shelves. Well, this phenomenon was often seen in many retail stores post-holidays or on the weekends. I wasn't shocked, but I knew perhaps the associates and managers there could do a better job on maintaining the best visual. In addition, I noticed some items were damaged or having minor defects. Hubby and I were looking for a planning board with the days of week that we could write on daily activities or meal-prep-related messages. The one we originally wanted to purchase had a broken hook. Fortunately, we spotted another style on the other side. With that being said, conduct detailed quality check before you commit on buying anything at the store. Many tables already had scratches, dents, or uneven legs. I guess we would meet these damaged goods pretty soon at Marshall's, TJ Maxx, or HomeGoods with deeper discounts? No se, pero "we shall see!" The trip to "At Home" wasn't exactly a waste, even though I did have to admit the prices weren't exactly the lowest one could find. This is the year of 2018. E-commerce is now the sh*t. I would really like a few hours just to browse this interesting place and the prices are pretty comparable, if not better, than most other places for similar items. Some of the areas, like carpeting and pillows are such a mess at the end of the day, you have to step over stuff in the aisles. But I'm sure it's hard to keep up as there doesn't seem to be a lot of staff on hand anytime I've shopped here. Back to college dorm or apartment shopping here is a must, as you can find so many colors and styles to choose from. And I love seeing special holiday or seasonal items here, like Christmas lights and summer, outdoor patio furniture, almost year round. Also, be sure to check out the sale items near the registers. Kind of a cool home store w/a ton of merchandise to select from for the home. I came here a few months ago w/my wife and her aunt so she could buy 2 chairs for her kitchen island counter & a small credenza in her new place @ The Glen Well we came back today to try and find 2 chairs for our small table in the kitchen since the cheap ass chair we bought at IKEA broke. They have a huge selection of different chairs, but no luck finding what we wanted. Ahhh Cie la vie life is full of disappointments. Buck up and move on with your life. At Home is a huge warehouse store filled with about everything for the home. I wouldn't classify their goods (at least what I saw) as top notch. And, their pricing was fairly high on some items. Stocks were low with some aisles having very little on them. But, on a positive note, they have a huge variety of items. We did not walk through the store. What we did see were plenty of close-out outdoor goods, holiday items (for just about every holiday), and it was crowded. We were looking for a particular item and we did find one we liked. The layout of the store was a little hard to figure out. We were looking for a planter. They were on multiple aisles, not necessarily next to each other. Checkout was an experience. There were two cash registers which were located next to each other. This makes checkout difficult since you don't easily see when the furthest register is open. And, the person who did check us out didn't look up once, never looked us in the eye, and clearly did not want to be there. That was disappointing. But, since they carry so many items, we will probably go back for more when we need something. read more

The store is massive and filled with items galore! I found 3 grey-ish bar stools which I loved and saw that they were on sale right before I finished at the register. The aisles are coordinated the best way possible but its a bit of a trek. You may need to step over pillows or a rug, but You will find what you are looking for and usually at reasonable prices. 17 people in line and growing. ....not prepared for Sunday traffic. Store is a mess and a huge trip hazard. My mom stumbled over rugs in the aisles several times. Every aisle seemed to have exploded. Just see the pic of 1 of many pillow aisles. They over stock the shelves and made it impossible to pull one pillow out before a stack of 5 came flying down. I know I wouldn't want to buy a dirty pillow that's keeps getting pushed around on the floor. Poor training, staffing, and lack of desire to look better than a K-Mart. I worked retail for 15 years and not even black Friday made our store look this bad. read more

I love this store and I come here way to often lol.. First of all this place is huge and as soon as you walk in they have a seasonal display with all of their best items. The store is very organized with each aisle holding the next treasure for you to find. My favorite part about this store is that they have everything you could possibly need for decorating your home, from pictures to trinkets and also furniture. I will say not everything is the best quality but they do have some great stuff you just might have to search a little harder. Everything is very reasonably priced some of the things are such a great bargain that you just can't pass them up. The staff that is here which usually there are not to many employees are very pleasant. Be prepared to leave this place with way more than what you planned because I always do. Recently moved and received a 15% off coupon; don't live close but thought I'd check it out... found some great items, got to the checkout - Marissa was very friendly and rang everything up. I handed her my coupon and she said it was 'used'.. I asked if she could call the manager, Gail, to see if it could be honored. Marissa paged Gail, Gail didn't come up to the register or even consider to honor my coupon. Just said it's been used - which it wasn't. I work in customer service and am a manager, and as a customer in the store at the checkout area, I was very disappointed that Gail didn't even take the time to come and talk to me about my coupon issue. The store has great items, not the cheapest either and I know I wasn't asking for much, but to help figure out my coupon issue. Talk about a hot mess! No, no, no, not me...I'm talking about Garden Ridge of Schaumburg. Woof! I walked in and the vast disorganization had me overwhelmed in an instance. The tables of books looked as if a storm of children had rampaged through. The maze of aisles upon aisles (of basically crap) had me begging to find the exit sign. Garden Ridge is kind of like a Tuesday Morning on a crack binge. It ain't pretty. Now, if you're down to sift through the overwhelming amounts of junk to find some decent candles, picture frames, or garden gnomes...because, well who doesn't need more garden gnomes in their lives...then you may enjoy yourself here. I, myself, love bargain pricing and finding steals, but Garden Ridge just makes it too overwhelming for me. They are currently either going for a name change, or being taken over, most likely because I'm not sure how much business they actually get. I may of seen two total employees while I was in and two total customers. Maybe it's more busy on the weekends. After the changes are complete, I'll have to stop in and see if there are any improvements at Garden Ridge, or what they are now going to be calling, "at home". read more

Omg...the only reason I knew about this store is because I visited my cousin in Texas and she took me there since she bought tons of items for her new place there. The store I went to with her was huge, but clean and orderly, with customer service associates around to help. In contrast, the Schaumburg At Home was an absolute wreck! Looked like a tornado went through the store. There were also no customer service associates in sight. While we were there, a woman walked past us in desperation saying "have you seen a sales person...I've been looking for 20 minutes!" The store is huge, but so disorderly, it's hard to find what you seek. read more

It's an extremely large store that carries anything you might need/want to decorate your home. At Home is a huge warehouse type of store that has tons of decorating items for the house. Most of the items are accessories like rugs, chairs, side tables, and smaller items to go on the tables. Prices are pretty good, but the items are a little on the cheaper quality end. I just bought a side table that looks pretty good, but upon closer inspection it has a bunch of little dings. What the heck is with this store and their check out problems? There was a very long line to check out. Seriously long line!. One person on a register and another person doing who knows what? There should have been chairs for people to sit on just to wait to pay. I especially felt sorry for a much older woman clearly having a difficult time. Finally another person opened up a register. I asked why only one register was open as they could see the very long line. She said its because its lunchtime and associate's were at lunch. We were here with our whole family since we wanted to buy some things for a business we are opening, my grandma and mom were sitting at one of the couches in a display area and they were trying to see if they wanted to buy it or not, but decided not to since they were asked to get up by one of the employees! Next time please put signs stating that people can't sit there!How are people supposed to buy if they can't try whatever they are buying out! Garden Ridge felt a little like an afterthought. I wouldn't have gotten into the car and said "Let's go to Garden Ridge!" because I didn't know anything about it. No advertisement that I have seen. Nothing outside the store that gives you a feel about what you are going to find inside the store. I think they need a marketing team. Anyhow, on the Monday after Christmas we were at the neighboring Costco (our planned destination store) and after completing that visit, we wandered into Garden Ridge. There was a 50% off Christmas sale! Yippee!!! Here's the honest truth...we never made it out of the Christmas Department. We wandered up and down those aisles for over an hour. There were some great deals to be had. And then, like magic, I thought we had struck gold! My sister is getting married in November 2012 and we came across an item that I thought would work as part of the guest favor/table card, marker thingy. I won't say too much about them except that they were Christmasy. My sister is not incorporating a Christmas theme into the wedding but it was too good to pass up. After discussion, photos, maternal input, counting and packing up into a cart all that they had we headed toward the register. Here's my issue...ready? Even with a receipt, you don't get the price that you paid back if you return the items...even if it's tomorrow if they are now selling the items for less and they must have the tags on them. The problems were that she was not 100% sold on using these items and not all of them even had a tag attached. What's a girl to do? More phone calls and a full cart pushed to the side, we didn't buy the Christmasy items for fear of their return policy. I understand that they don't want to be stuck with this stuff at St. Patrick's Day, but be reasonable. How about 10 days to return on Christmas merchandise and how about posting this on the front door with the rest of your return policy. It wasn't there...I checked. Kinda frustrated. Sorry for the employee that had to put them all back. We will try them again but with more knowledge in our tool kit before we waste so much time again. read more

They have virtually everything you could ever imagine to spruce up your pad, and at extremely reasonable prices. It's like the Walmart of home decor, but better quality. I've purchased frames, wall decor, cushions and a queen anne storage bench here. And I've got my eye on some obnoxious inflatable Christmas decorations for next year. Best prices you can find on inflatables are here, as well as an amazing array of choices and sizes; I mean some were three stories tall, no joke. See my pic of my husband next to Frosty. HUGE. Don't make the mistake I did and pop in after Christmas thinking you will get a great discount on those inflatables cuz they sell out early, like in November sometimes. Regardless of what you're shopping for, plan on spending some time here. I always think I'm going to zip through, and it never happens. This is my favorite store in the world. When I lived in St. Louis I was at it all the time. When I first moved back to Chicago I was sad that I wouldn't have this small joy anymore, but on a drive past Schaumburg I practically swooned with shopping joy upon seeing the orange sign. This past weekend everything was 50% off. I got my man an entire new bedding set for a king size bed for $20. DEAL. Plus they have furniture, and cookware and decorations, and everything you could possibly ever need to decorate your house with. I highly suggest you go and live in the store...because you'll never want to leave. I always check the damaged section, because things can be fixed, but more importantly, things can be crafted or made more awesome. Also: Michaels is next door. win. read more

My mom and I came here today in search of new chairs for her dining room. This place is like Homegoods times a million! We were pleased with the selection of chairs and pricing. There were six of the chairs that she liked and they were exactly what we were looking for. I will say that one or two of them had some minor scrapes, but when you're paying $60 per chair, that's fine with us. We went right as the store opened, so everything was neat and organized. I'm sure this place gets crazy on a busy weekend day. The staff was super helpful. We were able to get the chairs we needed and they helped get us a cart, load them into our car, and put two on hold so we can pick up the rest tomorrow. It's definitely worth checking out if you're not looking to spend a ton of money on something, but check it over carefully. read more

This place has a huge selection of items, but some items are of better quality than others. If you're looking for storage (baskets, organizers)--this is, hands down, the place to go. It's a good place for large basic picture frames & for dining tables/chairs/stools & for large, inexpensive rugs. The areas that need improvement would be their curtains (limited selection) & their art/wall hangings (not an especially good deal--price too high for a place like this). They have nice seasonal items at good prices. Overall this is a fun place to go if you have time to browse. I like that the prices are low & they have a big selection. Some items are of better quality than others and some of the prices are more than they should be on certain items. You can get many of the same items, of better quality, at a better price at places like Costco (but the selection at Gardenridge is much larger). I never have to wait very long in line, so that's a definite plus. read more

Stopped in to buy a pergola called store earlier in the afternoon, they said they had one drove an hour to this store manager Sandy said they only had the floor display and I can have it for 10% off but I would have to take it apart and walked away from me saying "I hope you have Allen wrenches didn't bother to help all she said was short staffed. This store is cute. The prices on some things are unbelievable and other things just ok. I bought my porch swing here, and we bought a table and patio umbrella while we were there too...very easy to make impulse purchases there. I'm really not sure why this is, but if you're looking for scrubs they've got tons (maybe they think people garden in them? that's the only reason I could think of). This could be a great store. It is HUGE, a warehouse, with tons of merchandise, and reasonable prices. BUT - they don't take care of their merchandise. I wanted to buy wall art for an office. Some beautiful pieces, but they are all stacked and leaning against each other, all smashed into a too-small space, so that many are damaged. Only two people working in the store, one at the register. Merchandise on the floor, blocking aisles, resulting in more damage to items as customers navigate shopping carts around the mess. The bathroom - absolutely beautifully designed, high-end floor and counters. But, on a sunday afternoon, it was filthy, really vile, worst I've ever seen in a store. 3 stars because I did purchase some stuff, and the price was good. but this store has so much potential, and it falls short because it's being poorly managed. read more

I really like this store. The quality of the items is about average- there's hit and miss, some stuff is nicer than other. There is a lot of things for the patio/garden. But my favorite sections are the rugs, lamps, wall art and small furniture. I went on lunch and filled my car with a 5x7 area rug and 2 really nice basket organizers for my laundry room closet for under $300. I need to go back for some lamps. The clothing IS weird (what's with all the scrubs??) and there are far too many googly eyed garden critters. Lots of holiday decor too- but a little glittery/gaudy for my taste. TONS of patio cushions and pretty pots. Lots of rugs to choose from, but they are hard to sort through (all laying flat/stacked). The quality of the rugs is just so-so, but very cute designs. Most things are reasonably priced, but I did see some items that were too high for this type of store. read more

This store has a terrible return policy. I tried to exchange a simple $5 item and they wouldnt take it back because it didnt have the store bar code on it anymore. I just wanted to exchange it for one that wasnt broken. The manager was less than helpful. I will not return to this store again and I would advise anyone else to do the same.
