Yesterday **5/14/2026** i witnesses the most disgusting gross misconduct from a manager that im sure is illegal & a violation of company Policy i was in bathroom & in the stall next to me i can hear someone sobbing & having difficulty breathing .Sounded like she was having anxiety or a panic attack soo i said out loud don't worry it will get better she replied Thank you Little did i know it was gonna get worse. A Manager came in bathroom yelling employee name saying she had 10min to do her hummer & if she didn't she would be terminated for insubordination employee did not reply manager left. about 3 min passed manager comes back yelling to employee to leave go home manager theresa on the phone knows & that she is going to get terminated for insubordination & to go to office & answer a call for her Meanwhile employee is washing face with cold water saying don't scream at me. Dont yell at me it is not insubordination i have done my work. I have been to many Ross stores and this seems to be one of the best ones for me. They have a nice selection of name brand shoes and clothing. I found a pair of Nike SB shoes and water repellent Nike joggers for an amazing price. My wife found a really good deal on a rug a few weeks ago as well. The store is cleaner and organized compared to others. Parking is in a plaza so no issues. read more

I have to say, when I get into something, I'm really into it. I decided to check out this Ross location today because I had seen some super cute shoes at another one and wanted to see if I could find my size. This, by far, was the nicest of the several area locations I had been to. It was a Sunday morning -it was quiet, clean and organized. I scored a bunch of cute blouses for work and even a few athletic shirts (one was a very cool Nike shirt) for my husband, who ALWAYS claims I shop and don't buy him anything. The girls in the fitting room were very nice and the girl who checked me out was nice. Like I said, this one had a more "classy" vibe (maybe due to the area /surrounding mall / Skokie?) than some of the others. Again, this is very much like a TJ Maxx / Marshalls. It's deep discount -you have to sift through a lot of stuff, but if you and patient and determined, you get some great finds. I spend $121.99 but got 8 items...so, what's that...? Averages about $15 or so each? My best find was this camo dress for $12.99. It's like a really cute formal dress...but camo print. I can't wait to rock that! lol One of the work blouses I bought was Calvin Klein and the other Jones New York. -Again, you gotta look through a lot of bad / cheesy stuff, but there are some nice items in there! Went in to look for clothing, underwear and the other things that I need so I don't get arrested for walking around naked. The store was kind of organized but had a hard time finding the men section. I will get to that in a moment. I went through the doors and they had some cute things for the home for Halloween, on shelves near the door, I continued to look for the men's clothing section. I went to the back of the store and found the houseware section. I found a rug that I needed and wasn't planning on buying at that time. I only had two to choose from but, hey for that price, I picked it up. Then, I found the kids section, mind you the women section is HUGE. Finally, I found the men's section in a corner of the store. The sign is turned so you couldn't see if from the entrance. The selection was weak!! Since the young men and men section were intertwined. I couldn't find anything that I wanted to wear. So I bought the rug which looks awesome in my home, but as far as clothing for men, I will have to look elsewhere. read more

Every time I come here, the shelves are bare. I don't know if this means that the goods are sold out or they don't restock fast enough. Having said this, Ross is the place to go for good buys for yourself, family, friends and gifts. My friends know how much I love this place so I am very pleased when given a gift card! Hello, I'd like to make a complaint about one of your managers working at your Skokie, Illinois location. The address is 9454 Skokie Blvd, Skokie, IL 60077. She helped with my return. I wanted to make a complaint. Even though she helped me with my return, she had an attitude with me in the store. I had lost my receipt and I took off the Ross tags on my items. I took the tags off because I thought I would be keeping the items but I decided I wasn't going to so I wanted to return the items. I spoke to one of your managers earlier in the day, his name was Javier. Javier was a great manager and was very kind on the telephone. He told me that if I knew the time and amount for the transaction, they would be able to pull up the receipt and make my return easy. Your manager who was working on July 14th 2021, her name is Paulisa (or something that sounds like that) made my return difficult. She succeeded in finding my receipt in the system but I didn't appreciate being lectured about "keeping my receipt" people lose their receipts all the time. Her attitude even continued when she said "this was very difficult for me and I had a hard time doing this" Ok well guess what.....I worked in customer service before too, as a matter of fact I still do as an Uber and Lyft driver and I have to deal with customer complaints and issues all the time. NOT ONE TIME have I EVER said that to a customer or gave them a hard time about something that could be done EASILY. I didn't appreciate this at all, this manager should take some lessons from Javier, he's an example of a manager that can be patient and still provide great customer service. My report will be going on every review site as well. Paulisa should learn to be a better manager. read more

Took my friend shopping so he can mature his wardrobe and we went to all the discount stores except for Ross and figured we might as well. I've never stepped foot in a Ross before, and this one... avoid avoid. From what I've seen in the men's sections... really small selection and organization. Obv there are a lot of women's clothing and the quick walkthrough I did just... bad organization. The shoes he tried on were ziptied so you couldn't even take a proper step in them to see if they're comfortable. Really stupid... I think the main concern, and my biggest complaint, is that they are understaffed as hell. There's nobody to watch for stuff or even help customers. Maybe the deals here aren't so bad if you have incredible patience and literally nowhere else to be all day - I didn't really look. Both times there was just one person handling returns and ringing people up, no sense of urgency, while the line piled up. It might look like only 2 or 3 people with a few items in front of you, but don't be fooled. read more

This store perplexed me. It is so large but seems half-stocked and no staff. I was looking at purses and their selection was quite small even though there was quite a bit of space for them. It looked like there were only two people working the store - a lone cashier and someone sitting at the security/jewelry counter up front. The store's overall appearance was dirty and had large areas of space with no merchandise. Some of the merchandise had seen better days. I have seen better quality at Goodwill. The prices are cheap, but that is all this place has going for it. read more

So, I've been to a few Ross stores on various trips to California, and my husband was a little excited that one was opening up near us in the northern burbs. Ross, TJ Maxx, Marshalls - I personally feel they are all the same in my book. Good places to find knick-knack items, basic work pieces that don't change with seasons and the occasional gem (usually in the kitchen section). I think this Ross has been open for all of a month and it already looks like it's been hit by a tornado. I've been to a Marshall's on Harlem that is super duper organized- this Ross is a pigsty in comparison. Now, I get that things don't always need to look neat and pretty (especially at a discount store), but stuff on the floor, things clearly in the wrong place and all this after less than a month in service? I can't image what this place would look like during Black Friday. Even check out is a pain - we waited almost 10 minutes to buy a few items, and everything seems so unorganized even there. Ross - get it together! You are making my memories of the California Ross' slowly disappear. And that being said, I will look for my discount pillows and silicone spatulas elsewhere! read more

I've seen better, and wasn't really impressed. Not many athletic shirts in the men's section; along with shoes, dress clothes, and socks. Not knocking all of the prices, but some of them were priced more than what a normal Ross would price items. Other than the lack of items in the men's section I got great customer service at this Ross. I rate them a three out of five, but as far as Ross stores that I've visited; this one is the worse. I will return in the future to see if there are any new items, because I had my eye on a Chicago White Sox shirt, and hope to purchase it on my next visit. It had been a long day. I was on my 9th clothing sore in the search for a slightly dressy yet comfortable shirt that would match a particular pair of jeans. I'd been to Kohl's, Carson's, Lerner and Catherine's and was just not having any luck. It was a bad shirt day I guess. Finally, exhausted after 4 hours of browsing through stores in search of something that would accentuate the positives and eliminate the negatives, I figured I'd give Ross' a try. Now, in these stores I'm looking at the XL-0X-1X range, so shopping can be kinda frustrating sometimes. There's not a lot of selection in any of them. (Actually, I had the largest selection at Kohl's, but they didn't have what I was looking for.) But I hit pay-dirt at Ross. I got two nice shirts. Where else are you going to get a brand new Jones New York shirt for $5? And, since I'd noticed that the housewares departments in these places are awesome, I figured I'd see what else they had. Dude, I scored a set of 500-count Egyptian cotton sheets, Queen, for 24$!!!! I'd been looking for MONTHS for a decent deal on sheets and had just about given up. They also had really good prices on cutting boards, glassware and decorative items. I'm totally gonna do more shopping there. read more

I have been to this Ross department store a couple of times. They don't have a wide select of clothing for men or boys. The women's dress selection is decent however this review is based on my last visit. I stopped in to get my husband a couple of shirts on a Wednesday afternoon. As I was ready to check out, I noticed that ALL the check out lines were closed. The only check out line was in the return and exchange area which also happens to be the jewelery department. There was only ONE cashier, and I'm assuming it's because it was not a busy afternoon. The cashier was ringing up a customer as I waited in line. Apparently, there was two lines, a purchase line and an exchange/return line which ultimately is being handled by ONE cashier. This totally defeats the purpose of having two separate lines! I was up next but apparently I was standing in the wrong line because the cashier took another customer before me. I waited my turn patiently. As she called, 'next' I was not even greeted by her or asked if I found everything ok. She had no motivation to be at work, not a smile, not a hello! I asked for clarification as to why I was bypassed. She said there was two separate lines and that signs are up. I agree but why have two lines if there is only one cashier? Not once did she apologize for the confusion. I flared up and walked out without purchasing anything. This store is under staffed and the cashiers clearly need good customer service skills! read more

It is saturday 2:15 pm and there are NO cashiers working! There is in person at the returns desk and she is prioritizing returns. She claims there will be someone coming in about 5 minutes. People are abandoning their carts and leaving the store. I think I'm next. Ugh. EDIT: it turns out that the lady at the returns counter is the manager! Other employees were in the store, but claimed they could not work at the cash register's unless the manager called them. The person supposedly coming in five minutes was an employee who was on break until 230.... A full 15 minutes later. Once I heard this, I left. read more

This store is HORRENDOUS -- I came searching for a rug for our living room. I was tipped off that Ross, out of all places, had discounted rugs. I found my way to the rug section and found a rug that would do the trick. Mind you, i selected an area rug (8x10) and like any department store, lugging it around the aisles was not conducive with the space available in the store nor the size of the cart available to haul it away. I wanted to continue shopping in the home goods section and approached a woman at the counter in the customer service department. I asked if I could leave my rug here while I shopped. Flat NO response. I studied her and her curt response and explained that in order to keep perusing, I needed a place to put the rug. She said well you can't keep it here or I'll end up putting it back where it belongs -- or you could just leave it until I'm done shopping. Anyways, she pointed to the other end of the store and said if you really want, you could leave it by the dressing room, most likely no one will touch it. Her mannerisms and her tone were extremely rude, almost like I was bothering her. So I brought the rug to a desolate corner by the returns and continued shopping. About 20 minutes later, I returned to my rug with another shopping cart full of home decor and a couple baby outfits. There was another woman standing by an aisle who worked there and I asked her if she would accompany me to the registers with my other cart. She told me that wasn't her job -- ummmm what do you mean? I literally huffed so loud in her face, bewildered how she even has a job at Ross and that Ross would hire these caliber of people to represent them. I made my way to the front, one arm pushing the cart, the other towing the rug underarm. I get in line and already feel the general sense of frustration among the other patrons checking out. It didn't take me long to figure out that the only associate ringing people out was having a detailed conversation with her friend, not an employee, who was standing behind her register. The lady at the register was silently shaking her head in disapproval and looking at the line of customers for understanding. Another 15 minutes passed as I grew angrier and angrier at the cashiers rudeness to customers, acting like they were interrupting her conversation. Maybe it was the fact that everyone in line was eye rolling and saying can you believe this, but I said excuse me, so you think you can finish your conversation elsewhere and expedite the process? We've all been waiting way too long here. The associate said, whatever and went totally mute with customers. When it came to be my turn, she was slamming my things into the bag and ringing them up with anger. She got to an baby outfit that didn't have a tag and said if I wanted the outfit is have to go search for its replacement. I said no thanks, after waiting that long and the whole representation of the stores associates, I'll pass. I spent $200 there and that's the thanks as a consumer I get. If I didn't find the rug, I would have ditched the whole operation. I am writing corporate with all of this information. I never go this far on anything, but it was a terrible mistreatment of customers by an awful staff and the company needs to know about it. AVOID! read more

First time here and no where near impressed. The store is a complete mess I've been to nicer Thrift stores. Clothes on the floor, racks are bare, it's pretty deflating especially if I would've really needed an outfit for something rather than just browsing and killing time before dinner with friends. I luckily found a dress for $12.99 that I liked and since I could not find anything else worth buying I proceeded to the checkout where I noticed there were no cashiers present. So I waited for a few seconds as I was not in a rush, then a young lady finally came to the register after proceeding to push carts and fix items around the checkout area which was obviously more important than ringing me up. She did not acknowledge me one time while checking me out as if she was a robot or I was simply invisible. She threw the dress which I was purchasing into the bag and then proceeded to throw the bag down between the area where bags are kept instead of handing me my purchase or sitting the bag on the counter. RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL!!!!! I then bent down and picked the bag up from where she threw it down and she had already begun walking away from the counter without a word! I will not be returning to this establishment it is unthinkable that a cashier who works in a customer service field would display this type of behavior. I work with the public, I'm a college student, and I understand the stress and demand of a job can take its toll but to inflict and display those bitter emotions onto a customer is unacceptable. I am definitely staying away from this Ross Dress for Less, I'll stick with Marshall's across the street from now on. I feel compelled to mention that there was a very pleasant woman that acknowledged me and was very inviting on the sales floor that is CUSTOMER SERVICE ! She even made a joke about me not being able to fit anything in the XL section because I'm so petite. It was a genuine exchange that made me laugh as I was hoping that the small sizes were stuffed somewhere in another section. They have a surprisingly good selection of plus-size women's clothing (other clothing too, I'm sure, but plus size clothes can be harder to find in discount stores). There is a good variety of styles, and the prices are excellent. They were also a lot more organized than other Ross locations I've been to - nothing was on the floor or strewn across the rack without a hanger, and almost everything was in the proper size rack. read more

I always have the BEST luck at this location, specifically when it comes to dresses. There is a pretty good selection on towels & home items as well and the shoe selection is hit or miss. I went to the customer service return line to do the return in their "return line", the customer service person Veronica was telling me to go to a long purchase line to do the return. WHAT IS THE POINT of having a customer service return line if your not going to utilize it. I have wanted to go to Ross for a while to see what it was all about. Final verdict - I want to go back definitely. I loved the home goods section and baby section. I didn't take advantage of their regular clothes section since I was 38 weeks pregnant when I went. I did look at them and the prices and couldn't believe the steals. I am excited to go back and go clothes shopping after the baby comes. The two negatives that I have with this store is 1. Finding workers on the floor to ask questions was impossible. That makes it a little frustrating. 2. There was only one checkout line open. We went on a Saturday afternoon so it took us forever to checkout. There should be more than one checkout line open when the store is busy like that. read more

Never like to give anyone lower than 3 stars but yelp is all about keeping it real. This particular location is the worst when it comes to staffing. Being a weekend and having many customers in the store you would think it would be staffed appropriately, but no we were approximately 20 customers in line and only one person at the register. There was another staff member working but she was told to continue monitoring the fitting room. We asked her to help and she said she would but it's up to the single person working at the cash register who was also the manager to call her. We asked the manager to have someone else help ring up customers but she said she does have another person who is on break. Again this review is not against the staff as everyone works their shifts and absolutely deserve breaks but the fact that stores are under staffed due to corporate dictating staffing plans is ridiculous and puts the pressure on the people working in the store who are facing the impatient customers anger. So my request is to corporate to plan and approve budgets so your employees don't have to deal the pain of budget cuts. read more

When we first walked into the store, we noticed that a huge majority of the shelves were empty. There were lots of empty holes which made the entire environment of the store seem junky. The customer service on the other hand, was great! There was an extremely kind lady who rung me out. She was giving me some great tips on where to put some of the items I bought. The Ross here in Chicago for some reason feels like it has less selection than the ones I've seen in Pheonix, AZ. I rated it medium/ OK because it still has a descent selection. Marshall's is better close to TJMaxx (I like the TJMaxx by Golf and McCormick the best - Skokie). read more
