Rossi's Deli has been around for a long time in SF, yet I had never tried the sandwiches here. Upon walking in, this deli is very narrow but they make the most of the size with many food and deli options available like piroshki, pastas, salads, a ton of different styles of sandwiches and much more. I ended up getting a Godfather sandwich which is a combination of all the Italian meats on a sourdough roll with a little vinegar and oil. I thought the sandwich was good. Nice tart flavor from the vinegar and sourdough, the meat was salty, fatty, delicious. Overall a good impression on my first visit and I wouldn't hesitate to go back. read more

Rossi's is right in the heart of the Castro across the street from the Castro theater. This is a great spot to grab snacks, sandwiches, drinks for a nice park day, also with very reasonable prices. I was craving a sando after the gym, it was a nice day so I wanted to sit at Dolores park to eat. I got a tuna salad sandwich with all the fixings on Dutch crunch. The guys working there were all really nice, helped me right away. The space is small, packed with every snack-drink-deli option possible!! The sandwich was so big, all the fixings were fresh, it was so satisfying! I loved it. The price was also good. If you're looking for a quick lunch, snack, you should stop by! I love this place, and been going here for almost 10 years. High points are the Rueben, their turkey sandwich and the deviled eggs are a must for every visit. (Get the sandwich version of it.) They have great deli items and salads as well. What's this place lacks in pretension is makes up in the warmth of the people behind the counter. If you want showcase a bougie $32 sub for your Instagram followers, don't go here. If you a great sandwich that won't kill your credit line, this is the place. Had a blt asked for mayo and sliced sourdough, got no mayo mustard, soggy wheat bread, maybe 2 tiny pieces of tomato and like an entire head of lettuce, never seen more lettuce in my life. I didn't know u could mess up a blt. The people were very nice hence 3 stars but possibly the worst blt I've ever paid for. They were generous with the bacon. read more

No way this place deserves 4+ stars. It's reasonably local to me, and I've given them a chance several times, and the experience has been consistently poor. First off, they seem constitutionaly incapable of getting an order right. Every time I've been there they have screwed something up. For example, the most recent time they forgot to put cheese on a sandwich that was supposed to have it, and put tomato on one that we specifically asked to not have it. Second, the meat quality is just not great. It's not bad, but you can do much better at any number of other places in the City. Honestly, the sandwiches from the Safeway deli counter are twice as good. And don't even get me started on a real sandwich place like Limoncello. read more

More like a solid 3.5. Came to Rossi's for a quick to go lunch and was very pleasantly surprised. I heard a lot about the Avogobble sandwich and ordered that on Dutch Crunch. Everyone working there was super friendly and nice and I liked that I could customize the sandwich pretty much as much as I wanted. The bread was nicely toasted and there is a generous filling of Turkey (maybe a bit too much Turkey for me). The flavor was good but I wish it had a little more spice and mustard and maybe more avocado. It is a huge sandwich for $10.75 so I definitely think its worth it. Cute deli and stopped in for a sandwich while on my way home. Everyone was really friendly and sandwich was made quickly. I got the smoked turkey sandwich on a wheat roll and nearly everything on it. Bread was good texture, fresh, and soft inside. Plenty of filling inside and all stayed put and was not falling out which made it easy to eat. Saw Rossi's Deli on the way to catch the bus and decided to stop by for some quick breakfast sandwich. I was in between choices and ended up with the Sausage, egg and cheese bagel (everything bagel). Well priced being in the city and everything was freshly made in front of you. Not sure if it's all homemade but it was good, wouldn't say the best but definitely filled me up half the day. I did also try their piroshky and i thought it was ok, felt like needed more flavor, the dough was good though, crusty and crispy. I had this place bookmarked while I was looking at different places to eat in SF for delicious and cheap sandwiches (none of that boujee stuff). For such a small place, they have an enormous food selection. They have cold foods, hot foods, freshly made sandwiches, lots of cheeses, alcohol, and groceries. What we ordered: 1) Italian Combo Sandwich on wheat bread ($10) - Packed with meat and freshly made. The sandwich was cheap, huge, and toasted :) 2) Beef and mushroom piroshki ($4) - Great filling to bread ratio and the flavors went really well together. 3) Spinach and mushroom piroshki ($4) - Not too good. Consisted of 80% thick bread and barely any filling. 4) Taboleh ($8 for 1 pint) - Fresh and just the right amount of flavors Overall, definitely come here for the sandwiches! Really disappointed in this place. I placed my order ahead via Yelp since I needed to get a quick morning bite before work.I was excited to try this place out given their reviews. This review is specifically for take out orders I've done from Rossi's Deli via DoorDash. In case anyone plans to order from here via DoorDash, here is the review of my experiences :) I ordered sandwiches here a couple of times and was hoping this would be my new fav sandwich spot. The first time I ordered here, my partner's order was correct and all special instructions were followed however my order was incorrect (they included cheese and sauces even though I specifically asked to remove). My partner raved at how delicious his hot honey Turkey sandwich was and how he really enjoyed the sweet roll bread. My sandwich was incorrect and had cheese and Mayo despite specifically asking to have it removed. Another time we ordered, both our orders were incorrect and it seemed they decided to make their versions of the sandwiches we had custom ordered. For my sandwich (both the 1st and 2nd time), I ended up having to remove the cheese (I'm lactose intolerant) and scrape off the sauce, which I specifically asked to remove. For my partner's sandwich, they had added veggies he specifically requested to removed and then put mayo which he specified he didn't want. We really wanted to like this spot because the quality of their meat and rolls (each item individually) tasted really great but the sandwiches as a whole was unfortunately a miss cus of the added unwanted items :(. Maybe we will check this deli out in-person and it'll be a totally different experience. read more

This is one of the best sandwiches in the Bay Area. I've grabbed sandwiches off and on from here for literally decades, and virtually nothing has changed. I stopped in recently to get one of my favorite sandos, roast beef & cheddar on sourdough roll, to take to two Giants games. Plenty of tasty meat, plenty of nice fresh veggies, but let's face it, it's the bread that makes or breaks a sandwich and the sourdough rolls here are some of the best you can get. They are not skimpy, with good crust, good chew, and good tang. The plethora of filling ingredients also means that the sandwich is pleasantly messy. The one substantial napkin they provide (they are not cheap here either) turns out to be not enough. Which I'm OK with! While costing slightly more than similar sandwiches you'd get at grocery store deli counters, even in the heart of the Castro these sandos are a couple to several dollars cheaper than inferior products from other Bay Area deli shops. The folks inside are always friendly and provide quick service. And if you have room after you finish the massive sandwich, do try the yummy devils eggs. read more

Lettuce crisp, and tomato brigh red. Fresh throughout, I was expecting more meat, especially since I paid for more, but I suspect they may have forgotten to add. This is the biggest secret on Castro St. It is impossible to find a super amazing falafel in the whole city, but theirs is good. Their other sandwiches are very generous and worth the price. Convenience store and deli in the Castro. It's a small store, but they carry a large selection of drinks, alcoholic beverages, dry goods, cleaning products, and food. Rossi's also features a full deli and a selection of prepared foods. They do have lottery tickets and scratchers. My favorite is the panettone bread they carry seasonally. Staff is friendly.
