I've been waiting for an opportunity to try this Hayward brunch hot spot since I saw it mentioned in the Local Yelp back in August. Busy schedules and lots of breakfast/brunch faves conveniently located near home have prevented us for months. But the holiday break has freed us up so it was time to check it out. Even though it was a Friday, the place was packed and several large parties were waiting for the rest of their groups to show. Since my daughter and I were a pair, we were seated quickly at a small table for two. After salivating over the many American and Mexican breakfast/brunch options(and admiring those affordable prices), we settled on our choices. My daughter had the huevos rancheros with beans and rice. I had the Mexican Hobo with wheat toast. The food was great: perfectly seasoned with the right amount of spiciness. I appreciated that Rosy herself greeted customers and checked in with our tables even though she wasn't our host or server. Nice place, good service. Unfortunately my scrambled egg and bacon were WAY overcooked, dried out. The biscuits were dry and too cake-like and not flaky at all, and the Hobo breakfast was skimpy on the bacon and egg, 90% potatoes. Consequently, the breakfast was overpriced. My son loves the chicken strips, and I eat breakfast at all times of day...so it works for us. Its a good idea to ask for a menu as prices found online are sadly outdated. We call orders ahead every time, but if you go on a weekend...still expect a wait. Oh, and wear a mask! Social distancing is hard in the limited space. Hello! I love how cute and quaint this place is. It really makes my heart smile. And the food was immaculate! They even have Mickey Pancakes for kids! So bravo to them. Also, there's this plate called "Hobo" where they just put everything on it on a plate and it's surprisingly delicious. I would definitely go back just to have that again. This was our go to spot for a long time. Small family resturant, good food, coming here made for a nice Sunday morning breakfast. We hadn't been back in a while given COVID and all. Was happy to visit, and sadly disappointed. Same place, although they closed the back section likely to comply with local business occupation rules. We ordered and when our food arrived I noticed they gave me a chorizo and eggs instead of the huevos rancheros I had ordered. No biggie, but then the waitress comes back and asked me why I changed my order. I said I didn't. So she went on to tell me what I said and that she will fix my mistake. I was like, ok whatever floats your boat. She could have just corrected the issue, but felt the need to make sure I knew it was "my"mistake. Anyway, while we were eating, I noticed a guy servicing the fire suppression system above the grill. He was cleaning and inspecting, right over the food that was being cooked. Cleaning dirty air vents over active grills just didn't sit well with me, that dust and dirt is going straight down into someone's breakfast. Average. The Belgian waffle was delicious! I may return just for that. Coffee was ok, eggs were as expected, sausage as well. Food came out in good time. I did have to ask for coffee refill. I didn't really notice my server doing a lot of replenishing, refills, "can I get you anything else?", "how's everything?". But, it is a neighborhood joint, so I guess if you go in knowing what to expect and you're cool with being let alone and asking for what you need, then it's right up your alley. I've been to Val's down the street more times than I can count. Someone who knows that I like to try different venues in the Bay Area inquired if I had given Rosy's a try. I looked it up and remarked as sometimes happens "No I haven't but I'll bookmark it". The luxury of people knowing you are "adventurous" is that you get thrown lots of recommendations which I appreciate. Fast forward to recently when I ordered two of the items that I felt were mentioned the most in Yelp reviews. Fave to least fave 1) Carnitas Omelette- I love Carnitas ...those of you that follow me know that it's a staple order for me for any taqueria I visit (I have taco rankings for the greater Bay Area 4 those of you interested). For some odd reason though, I had never had a Carnitas Omlette. Super duper good and a must order if you're a Carnitas fan. 2) Hobo Omlette- Linguica was the primary ingredient and I liked it. The venue itself is in a old shopping center (that I've passed by a million x's) but this is the first time I popped in and I'm glad I did. Nice vibe and this place was super busy when I strolled in. If you like my reviews, consider "following" my profile for reviews all across the SF Bay Area . Why "follow" someone? It causes the person you follow reviews to tier to top when you pull up a business. I find this very handy when researching venues. Rod's Review grading scale explained. Essentially I personally base it on the likelihood of a return visit and I try to be stingy with 5 star reviews since they should be "special" in my eyes. I came here with a couple of friends and I had an omelette...my favorite, avocado, mushroom and monterey jack cheese...it was amazing! Loved the hash browns... I would not recommend bringing your family here if you want a good breakfast. They served old carnitas (pork) with my breakfast - their carnitas meat was practically a purple/brown on the edges and had an old taste to it. I notified the waitress but then the Mom got offended. I'm the one who should've been mad and they had the nerve to charge extra for the rotten meat. My daughter tried it too and spit it out . Their eggs are always overcooked and so their chilaquiles were over fried. Also coffee was bitter. We have come here quite a few times due to convenience but they're food is always a hit or miss so whoever is rating this place with high stars is lying! After today we will not be back. read more

Came here as a suggestion from a friend, and overall, decent portions and good service. Tried the Joe's Special and it was good, just not great. Initial flavors are good, just need Parmesan cheese, not a melted mozzarella. My friend ordered biscuits & gravy with bacon and it was cold, no it wasn't sent back but it won't be ordered going forward. We had to remind the server about the milk too...just felt like the whole experience needed some refinement. 4 stars are more like a hope for improvement, friendly staff overall. read more

This little breakfast spot is a great place to take your family. It's located in a shopping mall next to a grocery outlet. The staff was very attentive to our needs, providing us with great service. We never had a problem getting more coffee or all the other things we needed. My plate was extremely delicious and I would recommend. It actually had mushrooms in it, which wasn't mentioned on yelp. The home potatoes are super tasty!!!! If you want a kick to your meal, they have a tasty homemade hot sauce which has a garlicy after taste. Was in the mood for a breakfast place and Rosy's popped up. Came here with my sister on a Saturday morning and was blown away! The prices were great and the portions were even better! We ordered the fried chicken steak with potatoes and 3 fried eggs, side of hashbrowns, waffles with bacon, as well as OJ. That's a lot of food for 2 people, mind you. Came out to be under $30, how crazy is that?? For reference, the rest of the Bay would've charged much more for the same amount. The service was great, people were friendly, and had no issues. There wasn't even any line like most brunch places would have at this time. Truly a gem in the east bay. The interior was spacious, with a lot of chic decor, quotes from movies, some platitudes of course... There's a lot of parking since it's in a shopping plaza.
