i called them out to unclog my in my tub.. first, the technician is in my driveway in his truck smoking a cigarette. Second, he comes in doesn't put the booties on walks into my house with muddy snowy feet looks at the situation." that's 325 for the first hour and $150 after that." After an hour and a half, he did not get anything accomplished. I asked him what happens now since nothing got accomplished his response you still have to pay. I ended up paying $285 for something that was not done. Fast forward two weeks later I have a different company come out and for $50 he got it unclogged, and their motto is if we can't get it you don't pay that's how a company should run When I called back router to complain to the manager Ben he he requested an invoice from the company that actually got the job done. And when I asked for a complete refund of $285 his response." I'm not interested in that." The only thing he refunded me for was the $50 that I had to pay the other company to get the job done and do it right I will never ever use Roto-Rooter again and I will share this story to every person that I along the way, I have 15+ years of customer service. Use someone else. I scheduled service online on a Friday 10 am. The first appointment they had online was 8-noon Monday. I booked that. Later Friday, I received a voicemail that they would be at my home Monday late morning. I called at 9 am Monday to confirm that they would be arriving late morning. It was confirmed and I asked to receive a call 10-15 minutes before they came. I waited at my house with a backed up sewer until 5 pm and no one ever showed. No call, No show. read more

If you've ever had your basement drains back up, you know it's a....shitty situation. Literally. Unfortunately we had it happen a week ago and called Roto-Rooter. They were able to come out within a few hours and got everything cleared out. The tech was fast, friendly and took care of our issue quickly. We were lucky that it wasn't "that bad" but appreciated the quick response from RR. Hoping we don't need to use them again but I'd certainly recommend them! read more

Very nice to deal with and very professional, The first person that came out did everything he could to fix my problem and to try to keep my cost lower. Unfortunately, I had a very problematic main drain backup that needed the jet service which works extremely well and fast for when you have a more severe problem. Great service, I requested an appointment during off hours and they called back 7AM Monday morning. John came out at 8:50 AM and was done within an hour. He explained the issue causing my main drain to backup. There were tree roots blocking the lateral to the city sewer. He recommended I have the drain line cleared every other year. Do NOT use these guys!! Not only did they overcharge me, but they also made a HUGE mess. The first guy that came out, worked for an hour (not sure what he did) and then told me he couldn't clear the blockage. I let him know that I assumed he would be cleaning up the mess he made, and he told me the next guys would. He charged me $400 and then had a second group of guys show up to use a high-pressure hose to clear it. Instead of covering the main basement drain with an upside-down garbage can or something, which is what anyone with common sense would've done, they blasted high pressure water into the main line without anything covering the drain. The water, of course, backed up and caused a blast and subsequential flooding of sewage everywhere. As if that wasn't enough, they repeatedly walked up and down my basement stairs to the back door in my kitchen without covering or changing their boots, so not only did I have sewage everywhere in my basement, but I also had a trail of it up my basement stairs, and through my kitchen! After that fiasco they wiped up an 18" radius area surrounding the drain (I swear they measured it, so it was exactly 18") and said they were done. I told them I assumed that they'd be cleaning up their mess including the trail leading to the back door in my kitchen and one of the guys replied, "lady, we're not a cleaning service and we're only required to clean up 18" around the drain". Unbelievable. I told them the previous guy told me they would be cleaning up the mess and then I immediately called their office to let them know the situation. They called one of the guys right after we hung up and they grabbed a bunch of rags from their truck and proceeded to somewhat wipe up the mess. It was a weak attempt, and they didn't even touch the path up the stairs and through my kitchen. Two of the guys stood in the main area of my kitchen with sewage-drenched boots and waited for me to pay them. It cost me another $600 for their "service". I could tell they were really pi$$ed that I had called their boss and I heard one mumble to the other "did you do it?" and the other guy responded, "yeah". I'm not sure what they did, but I cannot get the smell out of my house! After they left, I wiped up what I could see and then proceeded to bleach the entire basement floor and anywhere else they had walked with their sewage-coated boots. To this day (it's been around a year), it still smells like sewage. Not only in the basement, but throughout the house now and I can't get rid of it. I am beyond angry and disgusted, and just want to let other people know about my experience, so they don't have to go through what I did and deal with the smell afterwards. read more

This is a franchise - If you need a real plumber because of issues with your basement. Don't bother with these guys. They are NOT plumbers! Took so long for them to respond - I ended up with water in my basement. When they did show up - the man never went down the stairs - he turned around to leave stating he can't do anything until the water was gone ... ‍ Nightmare! Don't bother wasting your time! Charged me 350.00 to snake a sink drain, didn't snake out my sewer drain because they said I needed a clean-out valve. They told me once I got one they would come back for 150.00 and snake it out but the initial visit is 350.00. Not worth it! I eventually got a clean-out valve and called a different place to snake the sewer drain. Also, the guy was swearing as he was trying to get the machine down my stairs! read more

My basement got flooded due to a plugged up drain hole. This is the company my condo association uses so I had no choice. I will say that the 2 guys seemed nice but I never got their names. They got the drain unplugged so I'm happy about that. The problem I had was that they came in when it was pouring rain outside and never offered to put shoe covers on, just walked through over my $300 rug and new wood floors down to the basement. Then they went back out and brought their big machine on wheels in, once again over my new wood floors and expensive rug. This machine had wet, dirty wheels. I now know why their reviews are not very good. I won't use them again. read more

This is the worst company to call for sewer draining services. The company charges per hour and the prices are ridiculously overpriced! I had a sewer drain problem so I called this company to help. The drain was backing up due to branches in pipes. To solve this problem, branches would need to be removed/cut out from within the pipe which means running the snake through to cut the branches. The tech, Travis, arrived at 2:20. (BTW, they charge when they arrive at the job not when they actually start). The tech looked at the drains on the outside of the house than decided to use the drain in the basement. He retrieved his equipment out of the truck and took it to the basement at 2:35pm. He initially started to use the stack. I recommended to use the drain closer to the street since that's the drain that was used in the past and it seemed to work. He continue to use the stack with no success and then moved to drain closer to the street. He was able to cut through some of the branches in the pipe and the basement water started to drain. At 3:35pm, he was done. He took his equipment back to his truck and gave me the bill at 3:45pm. He stated that he was charging me for 1.5 hours although he worked 1 hour. I was very unhappy with being charged an extra hour. He also stated they would not take the coupon on the website. The next day the sewer was backing up again. There is still branches in the pipe. He did not get all the branches out so I have to call another company to have this done right! read more

Absolutely a wonderful experience, Keith was great. We did the lateral line to the road and unclogged basement laundry tub. Yeah I can do laundry. Last time we ground out our lateral I used a plumber his equipment was not as large and took so much longer, which meant more expensive. I am in Whitefish Bay which has terracotta lines to the road. I would never use anyone else but Rotor-Rooter. I am very Happy with the service. read more

They didn't "away my troubles down the drain" like the commercial says! Called for a backed up shower / bathtub drain. Tech decided to service it through the sink plumbing. The drains from the sink & bathtub do intersect, but not until 6' down the bathtub drain line. The tech left 6' of bathtub drain unserviced & still clogged up. Plus, the device they use to clear the drain only has a 1" diameter auger. The pipe is 2" diameter internally. Their auger will bust a hole through a clog, but it won't clear it completely. Total for this service was $195 bucks. That translates to $100 for the service call & $95 for the actual drain cleaning. read more

My plumber called ABC Sewer to clean out the sludge in my pipes. The service person worked for over an hour and plugged up my sink (which had been working fine) with greasy black water. He charged me $60 for a service call and left me with a backed up sink. My plumber called ABC and they had no interest in sending anyone else. I then called Roto-Rooter. The service person was here within an hour, and all of my pipes are clear and my sink is working fine. From now on, I will call Roto-Rooter first. read more

My basement flooded so I called this company after recommendation from my sister. They were able to come out about an hour after I called and had the problem fixed within an hour. The plumber that came to the house was very professional and nice. My cat tried to go to the basement to assist him and got passed me. The plumber nearly dropped his equipment and fell over trying to save my cat from entering the sewer water that was backed up. I would definitely recommend this company and will be using them in the future. Prices were a little high, but worth the money. read more

The customer service is terrible that would never recommend using them I called them explained that I had water on my roof and I was going to drain the water I was told not to drain the water from the person on the phone the plumber showed up and said we can't do anything you need to drain the water so I drain the water open the cleanout Trap open called them back the price went from 450 to 1000 and they said they would come out the next day I asked for a discount and the gentleman on the phone said I am not interested in that. My complaint is with the Waukesha location. Their Technician came out and serviced our drains. He performed extra work in order to charge more. He then changed his paperwork to make it look like it was necessary to leave the home in satisfactory condition. When I spoke with the manager (Ben) about this, he didn't even want to hear my side of the story. All he was concerned with is that my wife signed the invoice and paid the bill. Never mind the fact that she was mislead and taken advantage of. The manager was dismissive and rude. I do not recommend using this location for any work EVER. Jim read more

Our main drain of our newly purchased home got backed up after heavy rain and our basement flooded. I wish I had called Roto-Rooter earlier. Other "emergency" plumbers didn't answer or said they could come between 9-11 am when I had called them at 2:40 am. My fiancé and I had to continuously use a Shop Vac to suck up water, fill up buckets, and run the water upstairs and out to our backyard. Per our realtor's suggestion, I called Roto-Rooter in the morning, around 7:30 am. I was told they could come between 9 and 11. The technician came at 8:30 am. He described exactly what the problem was and how he was going to fix it, telling me what he was doing the whole time. In about an hour, he fixed the clog and was on his way. He did have some difficulty with his equipment but still finished the job and worked on his equipment outside, and told me he wanted to get me back to my day as soon as possible. Again, I really wish I had tried to call them much earlier as we spent 12 hours doing the whole Shop Vac/bucket thing. I would definitely use Roto-Rooter's services again, and I had a good overall experience. We also have a 90 day warranty with this service, which I assume would cover if we had another backup within 90 days. read more

We had a drain backup in the laundry room. The technician showed up within the hour after my call and listened to my story. He investigated thoroughly and cleared the pipe! It did happen to us again about a week later, but it is was due to our use in the home causing it. The second technician came out (again within an hour of my call), did quite a bit of troubleshooting to see what might be happening and then gave us a number of ideas of how to avoid this happening again in the future.
