I've used Roto Rooter for several job, from an underwater pipe break to a simple faucet leak repair. They are very good about assessing the situation and explaining what need to be done, and any options I have and providing an estimate. For some jobs they've also explained what I would need to do to do the job myself, and even recommended that approach to save me money. I've even had one plumber tell me exactly what store to go to, what part to ask for and if I need help, who in the store to ask for. And said if I had trouble doing the job to call him back and he'd come do it if needed. I respect that. Generally speaking, these guys are good and quick and their work. And in all the work I've had done, they've never tried to add additional charges to the initial estimate after beginning the work. My main complaint is is that for the most part, you are at their mercy when it comes to the estimate, and the jobs I've had have been all over the board. I've had one estimate for under $100 to replace the main pipe connected to the water line to close to $300 for what seemed like a simple toilet continues to run repair. Heck, it's difficult enough to find out how much a service charge is. I know commission is a big thing and the more they charge the more they make. And I know it's hard to standardize and industry where every job is different, but it would be nice to have at least some type of idea how much the most common repairs/services are. Otherwise, I have no problem paying a little more to use these guys knowing most of their work is guaranteed. read more

Called Royo Rooter out to a newly bought house in Killeen, Texas. The house had a 'mop sink' that needed to be removed and a washer/dryer to be hooked up. The service person quoted us $1,500 to unhook a drain, two water lines, and remove the sink along with screwing the washer lines to the water supply. He also tried to tell us that we would need to call for floor and wall repair after he was finished. That would have been after removing 4 screws holding the legs to the floor and cutting caulking from the back of the sink. We said "no" but he charged us $100 for 10 minutes work. He also told us that he usually charges $200 but would reduce it to $100 if we bought him lunch. LITERALLY, he said that. Called the office and was told "we USUALLY charge MORE than that". Simply a rip off of honest customers in need of assistance. read more

We had a team of two technicians that responded to an issue we were having with our washer drain. The job wasn't a simple fix, but the tech discussed the scope of the job, plus some alternatives with my husband. There is a $90 estimate fee, but he waived it for us. We opted for one the other alternative fixes (how it was set up by previous owner), and didn't end up needing their help. We are very appreciative of his knowledge and the time he took to inspect our plumbing. read more

Called Monday, it was a holiday so I completely understood they wouldn't be able to come until Tuesday. Gave all my info and was told someone would call in the morning. No one called. I called back on Tuesday. An Appointment was made for between 12-2pm on Wednesday. No one came Wednesday afternoon. Called Thursday morning, was told by Gabriel that they had no record of an appointment on Wednesday, he said some one would come today, gave them my mothers number since I was headed to work. Received a call at 10:30 while I was working saying someone was available and would be there soon. Got another voicemail while at work and called back- Instructed Delia to call my mother directly, who was waiting at the house, since I was at work, 2 hours go by, still no one came. Called again, said they were finishing up a call then would be there. 2 hours later, still no one. Was told by another lady that Delia wasn't there and whatever she told me was wrong and had nothing to do with her, technician was still at another call. Unbelievably bad customer service. So now almost 5 days later I have to find another plumber that will ACTUALLY show up. read more

They followed through on the expectation they would arrive within an hour. Unfortunately, meeting expectations stopped there, as they strung us along for the next 24 hours. As a result, we made no progress dealing with a plumbing emergency and lost an entire day waiting on Roto-Rooter. We certainly understand that services can be overbooked. However, their competitors where straightforward with us in communicating their availability. Roto-Rooter was not. They came out on a Sunday afternoon & quickly repaired our water leak. Very courteous & professional. They brought the water service up to code & therefore needed a city permit so it costs more than we expected but now we have a shut off valve at the house. I had an appointment through Pipe Down Services (scheduled by American Home Shield) and they were rude, obnoxious and apparently unable to come out without same day or next day. So I call Roto-Rooter and they come out SAME DAY, no problem. Brad, the rep, gave me an estimate based on his assessment, that almost had a $100 difference. After he completed his work, it was determined it was the lessor of the two estimates. Phenomenal customer service. Call Roto Rooter this morning asking about installing a toilet. The man that answer the phone was nice he told me it would be a $75 service fee no problem so had appointment this evening guy came out and I told him this the toilet to be install and this the toilet to take out he look at it and said it will be $258 so I ask will the $75 service fee will be deduct from that he said no that the total it will cost to do the job. I know to remove and to replace toilet it only about $150 to $180 they are a rip off. Seam like they make up prices as they go. So be care when you get them to come out and do so work over price very bad. Go another company to do the same job for $150. read more

I had never dealt with Roto-Rooter before--I always used small local companies, but I really think that may have been a mistake because I had the best experience with this Roto-Rooter franchise. I was buying a home in Temple and needed to get a sewer scope done before closing. Called a few local companies, and no one had either the technology or heard of such a thing. Maybe it is not a common thing to get before purchasing a home in Texas. Lo an behold, I decided to check with Roto-Rooter in Belton. They had the technology, and the office lady was helpful, and she got me an appointment on the day I wanted (2 days later). She couldn't tell me the cost over the phone, but I figured it would be in the $300 range, as I am very familiar with the inspection. On the day of the appointment, the office called and told me the tech, Dustin, was on his way. He showed up promptly at 9am (as I had requested since it was "inspection day" at the home). Dustin was very professional, courteous, friendly and knowledgeable. The technology he was using was awesome. He kept me informed of everything he did during the inspection, informed me of problems I had (showing me on the video) and went above and beyond, giving a very thorough inspection. He told me the issues I would face in the near future and told me how they could be resolved. He estimated the repairs, gave me a quick USB of the video, described the issues in full and wrote it all up in an estimate. I would also like to mention, Dustin was out in the mud, as it had rained very hard, but that muck did not prevent him from doing his job (the other trades guys I had out were cursing it, while Dustin remained happy and did not complain once). I highly, highly recommend this Roto-Rooter. The pricing for both the inspection and projected repair was under what I was hoping. Once we close on this house, they will be my first call for the many, many plumbing repairs this house will be needing. And I highly recommend asking for Dustin. If I need something done and done right, I call Roto-Rooter. When there is a water leak it needs to be fixed right now and not in two, three or four days. Not a fun morning... However, they got to my house within 30 minutes. Courteous, quick to diagnose, and persistent to fix the issue. Or 3 year old had found the uncovered sewer access line in our backyard, and drop bricks down!! Some pieces were pulled out, others broken up so they were small enough to flow out. read more

Had an issue with a massive water bill and a clear leak coming from around the meter box. Called "the most trusted name in Plumbing". Big mistake. $300 dollars to tell me that the water pressure in my home was, "only slipping a little bit" and "no leaking identified". After more leaking and a drawn out argument with the untilities company I sought help from a different plumbing service. The company that FOUND AND FIXED my leak was A PRO TOUCH PLUMBING SERVICE. With all Parts and Labor the fix was $100 less that I paid Mr. Rooter to tell me nothing was wrong as I watched my water, and money, pour down the gutter. read more

RotoRooter sent an excellent and professional plumber to analyze and prescribe a solution to the clogged pipe. Another plumbing service spent two days ($$$) trying to figure out what to do, but Josh P (#167) figured it out decisively and brought the three avenues to address the problem. He explained clearly the process/cost differences and made his recommendation, which made perfect sense. Then he delivered on the plan! The clog was deep, but the longer snake reached and dispersed the clog. He is my hero! I asked him other questions, which he competently and professionally answered, such as recommending procedures to maintain our pipes. To put the icing on the cake, he put "booties" over his shoes each time he entered the house and an additional lightweight "carpet" just outside the door to insure further that he did not track mud into the house. I like receiving the cost first rather than paying by the hour (which encourages sluggish, incompetent work). Josh was courteous and showed an impressive work ethic that others should emulate.Thank you Roto-Rooter for sending an outstanding plumber!
