I ordered for pick up and was there when the food was ready. We order 16 chicken wings which were good, and a jumbo Krewe pizza. Came to a total of 60.00. Came home and first pizza was burned. I called in an order for pick up on a Friday night in October and the lady on the phone said it would take 25 minutes, but when we got there to pick it up just a little earlier than she said, the food was not even warm when we started eating it and we just went practically across the street to start eating it. First of all, we had both eaten the Chick Chick Bruh and it was amazing. In fact, it was so good, I gave it a 5 star rating and made sure we ordered it again tonight. However, the wrap was hard and crispy on the ends and a piece broke off and cut my mouth. In addition, the filling was not nearly tasty enough and was super dry. If it had been like that the first time I ordered it, I would never have ordered again. Luckily, the Bac'n Mac n' Cheese made up for it. Even though it did not look anything like the picture I saw on here and looked like it was a much smaller portion than that photo too, it was very creamy and tasty and I would order it again. Unfortunately, we ate it too quick to get a photo. Because it seemed they went downhill this visit, I'm dropping a star. I lived in Italy for 6 years where I studied the culinary arts of that great country. I can say with confidence that commenters like Robert E. and Meghan M. either have no understanding of authentic Italian food, or they are working as sock puppets for the competition (my research suggests Domino's on Lake St). Only an absolute neophyte would expect all pizza in Italy to be similar in properties and techniques to the Sicilian or Naples regions. The pizza here is a perfectly authentic replication of what one would find in the Vittorio Veneto region of Northern Italy. I have a few observations about my time there. It's common for locals to demand pizza with "condimenti dividere" (split toppings). Because Italian kids are very picky eaters, it's not uncommon to see the option to split the toppings 2 or even 3 ways (tripla condimenti dividere). Often 1 or 2 of the portions are cheese only. This is meant to honor Saint Albert of Trapani. Rotolo's is consistent with this tradition. Also, the dough is very heavy and gluteny to help you with "Siesta" (Siesta is a traditional afternoon nap in Italy). This is very different than the thinner crusts you normally find in the southern regions otherwise known as "Neapolitan" pizza. It's actually a much older, time honored way of baking the crust. I have to ding Rotolo's for one thing though. It's traditional to supply the customer with lots of beer and TVs for the parents to watch "futbol" (football) which they do quite well. It also helps with authenticity to provide a "zona play" (play zone) for the kids with stuff like a ball pit and a rock climbing wall. I tried to have a date nite with my husband to watch the LSU game and we brought our 5 kids and the waiter did not want to supervise them for us and there was no zona play. It's strange because their Pearl River location has all of these things. I'll just have to argue that people travel to Pearl River if they want the real, authentic experience but this is still the closest thing to Italy in Lake Charles. read more

The calzone was nothing special. I've been here twice and the second time was because i let the other person pick so I suffered through a salad. I'm surprised this place is still open. There's also a small bat you can order out of, and although they don't usually do white russians he did a double for me anyways (and strong like I like it.) Best meal I have had in a long time! The waitress, Rachael, was the greatest! Smiles, laughter, conversation. We asked her a lot of questions since it was our first time there. We were told the pizza dough and the pastas were made fresh every morning. You don't get that many places anymore, and trust me, you can tell the difference. Unfortunately she did not make it easier for me to choose what to eat, she said it was all good! Our starter was the 'Sweep the floor' Cheese sticks. OMG these are a must! When we first got it, I thought it was a pizza, since everywhere else is those little stick/breaded things. A twist from their original cheese sticks, they add pepperoni, bacon and a blend of Italian and Greek cheeses. It was SOOO good! The marinara on the side was perfect with it! Took about half home. $8.49 For me, I ordered the Eggplant Parmesan. Came out heaping full on one of those boat dishes (the ones with the handles on both ends and about a foot long) with a stick of what looked like fresh made bread on the side, little slit along the top. You have a choice of Spaghetti noodles or penne noodles, I chose the spaghetti. Cooked perfectly, noodles still had a little bite to them like they are supposed to. I added tomatoes to mine which gave it a little more acidic kick. I could not even eat half of it after the cheese sticks. I was painfully full when I left. Drink: Sweet tea. Smooth not bitter, perfectly sweetened. A++ to whoever made it. Brian had the Bacon Cheeseburger Calzone. The thing was huge! Image a medium pizza you get at most places, folded over in half with the fillings inside. It was that big. It also came with the marinara sauce. Again, I don't think even half was eaten we were so full from the cheese sticks. Drink: Sprite (Sprite is Sprite. Not much to comment on here :) ) $8.99 On our way out, we spotted what looked like an ice cream bar near the front door. Turned out to be that Italian cream stuff that I don't think I have ever tried. Rachael let us try the Strawberry which she said was her favorite. Not to sound repetitive but that was SOOO good too! A lot of flavor, just sweet enough, more creamy/fluffy than ice cream. Strawberry, chocolate, caramel, and I can't seem to remember the other flavor :( (Brian just told me it was Mango) Our bill with two people, after tip, was $45. Little much for two people but the food was so yummy I did not care. When I heated up my eggplant later it was no where near as good as fresh, but I still ate it all. The Cheese sticks heated up were still beyond perfect! They don't have delivery at the moment but Rachael says it is in the plans for the very near future. Wow we had a Yelp! check in for a free calzone so we each got one...WOW! they were yummy re\lly good! I was impressed, sadly that was about the extent of it! I went thru at least 10 packs of silverwear to find a clean knife or fork, finally gave up and got a plastic to go set from the waitress. The water tasted horrible! (the cups were cool and you get to keep them!) The straw that broke my resturaunts camels back was the toddler hand print in maranera sauce behind my head! Which appears to have been there for a long time! If that was not bad enough my wife had a larger dirty hand print on her side as well! While the food was tasty I cant eat at a place that has visable dirt that should be cleaned on a daily basis. Sorry I wont be back....not even take outn cause if you cant clean your silver ware what about the pans and dishes you cook with that no one sees???? We had the Combination pizza and it was nothing like I had before. I would bet they use their sauce on their pasta. The crust was very under baked to where it was paste in the middle and very thick. Like I explained in my previous review it is hit and miss with this restaurant and yesterday was a hit. My date and I started with Bread sticks and marinara sauce. Personally I wish they had been more garlicky but I also eat raw garlic like most people do salt and pepper. We then saw cheese sticks on the menu and HAD to try them. We ordered the sweep the floor cheese sticks. WARNING! It looks like a thin crust pizza! My date and I were confused when we first got it. It is so good though! The bacon is NOT bacon bits from a bag! You can taste that it's real bacon. It smells like cheddar cheese and bacon fries. And was so good we almost didn't get a picture of it! Lol in fact it was so good we recommended it to the table next to us. Then I had a Greek salad it's really great with the balsamic vinegar dressing. However, when I hear Greek salad I think synonymous with greens, tomatoes, red onions, cucumber, carrots, kalamata olives and feta cheese. However out of all of these only lettuce tomato olives and feta was present. That was disappointing. My date ordered a sandwich, I believe the Italian meat. He liked it a lot. I didn't taste it so I won't review it. I ordered the garden Alfredo. I was looking for a pasta with a variety of vegetables and it was sadly the only option that was not a salad that had more than a couple veggies in the dish. So the run down was penne pasta with Alfredo sauce topped with spinach, mushrooms, red onions, and tomatoes. When eating it I got a nice mouth of veggies to balance out the heaviness of the pasta and Alfredo. My problem with my dish was that the Alfredo was far too watered down. If I had to guess, I would say that the Alfredo was at least 75% water because it dripped off my pasta like water would; so when eating my pasta that's all I tasted, pasta. Either the pasta wasn't strained well or the sauce was over watered because it was soupy. Our ticket came out to $50 after tipping the waitress 10%. Hoping to leave on a good note, I ordered the caramel and raspberry gelato. My date ordered the caramel and cookies and cream. It was delicious! Just the way gelato should taste! The waitress was very energetic and friendly and easy to talk to. She was quick and full of suggestions that didn't disappoint! Our visit was definitely an improvement from my last but there is still room for more improvement when it comes to the food. My kids absolutely love this place! Brought my son in, who has autism. He announced to the hostess that it was his birthday. She surprised us by telling us when we were done eating that someone had paid for our dinner. (Thank you to whoever you are! You made his day!) Was slightly disappointed at our last visit to see the sweep the floor pizza/calzone was gone. Every meat possible was on that and it was the best. There are fairly suitable replacements but it's not the same. Regardless, this is a family favorite! And if you have a local football discount card, it's buy one get one free calzones! First, let me start by saying that the Rotolos in New Orleans is great. This one is as bad or even worse than the majority of the reviews have stated. The person who took my to go order, as well as the person who held the door on my way out, were very pleasant. The food was decidedly not. The shrimp and eggplant Alfredo inexplicably had so much red pepper in the not-an-Alfredo sauce as to be inedible. I was born and raised in Southwest Louisiana and love spicy food, but this was just plain bad, as were the overcooked noodles and eggplant in the dish. Spicy is not even in the dish's description. I paid $2 for a side salad and when I saw them packing the tiny to go cup and remarked on it, I was told that was the correct size and I was shocked. No one should charge $2 for three lettuce leaves. It's shameful. There is a reason for the bad reviews of this place. Heed them. read more

Decided to try it while visiting the casinos. The calzones were excellent! I had the bacon cheeseburger calzone, and my wife had the canadian bacon and pineapple. This is my 2nd time ordering from this location. I ordered the Chalmette sticks with pepperoni added and a root beer float. The order was placed on waiter not sure whose fault it was on the timing but it said it would be ready at 7:07 we got there at 7 on the dot. Overly sweet. Employees just hanging out at the bar not caring about customers. Never offered a refill on my drink until it was time to leave.
