My wife and I came here to celebrate our anniversary! Arrived a little early so we had a glass of wine and an old fashion at the bar while we waited for our reservation time. Atmosphere - 5 Service - 5 Food quality - 5 These are the usual elements that I consider and every bit of it was top notch. Appetizer - we ordered the roast bacon and a caprese salad which isn't difficult by any means. Both were very beautifully plated and delicious. Both my wife and I order ribeyes. She ordered the salt service and I ordered garlic butter for mine. Both steaks were ordered medium and cooked to perfection. I highly recommend the salt service as it interesting and delicious trying the different salts on the steaks! Our waiter Paul was on the spot, very informative, and very attentive! Overall I'm giving this a 5 star rating. My only drawback is the cost was really really expensive. For what we paid I could have bought a ribeye roll and some expensive wine and we could have eaten ribeyes every night for a week. But that's beside the point. When you want excellence, this is the place to go! The Fresh cocktail had just the right amount of cucumber and its name describes it perfectly. The lobster bisque is amazing with chunks of lobster in nearly every spoonful. The shrimp scampi has a kick and the shrimp are so flavorful. The dark wood and low lights add to the atmosphere. Went on a Wednesday night for dinner. The atmosphere was great and definitely high end. The reason why I am only giving 3 stars is because I felt like the value was lacking for the area. The pricing was very high for location and overall experience. The service was AMAZING! If there were crumbs on table, they would wipe them away. They also would do the little things such as folding your napkin if you went to the restroom. I ordered the lobster and unfortunately it was quite salty. My husband got the ribeye and loved it! Steven our waiter was AMAZING, I typically judge an establishment by do I run out of drink. At no time during my dinner experience did this happen. Steven was vary familiar with the menu and was funny. Got the Wagyu filet and while it was delicious and tender, can't say that I can justify the price. A good filet is a good filet. Our appetizer Calamari, sides (Asparagus, Augratin potatoes and Macaroni & Cheese) were all perfect. Being I'm a sucker for a good Crème Brulee I decided that being I ate so healthy (hehe) I deserved a desert. I look for vanilla beans on the ramekin and if I find some I know it is not a mix. Specks like there should be. The portion size was shareable, but I ate the whole thing. For being inside the Casio I expected it to be a little loud, but although the restaurant was busy for a Tuesday, it was easy to talk to the other diners in our party. Been to many a "higher price" steak house, Vic and Anthony's stands out as one of the better ones. From start to finish I was impressed. Be sure to ask for Steven, be set the tone for us. read more

I just wish they had more appetizers on the menu that weren't seafood. It's very loud inside, especially as it gets busier. They seated a large table literally right next to us who were very apparently drunk. Other than that, it was a great experience and I'll definitely be back to tray again. My husband got the halibut with crab over 2 cheese grits, we got the bacon, quail, Wagyu a5 & lobster Mac for apps. Our friend got the filet with the mushroom demiglaze & the 5oz lobster. "I heard someone is celebrating a special birthday." From the hostess to the sommelier to the waiter, the staff knew that my husband was celebrating a big birthday....and yet that was all that was said....or done. Interesting meal on a weekend trip to Lake Charles. Our friends started with a Celebration Cabernet from Second Lines Wines. Although I'm not a wine drinker, loved the artwork on the bottle. Started with a Pear Saga Salad which was delicious. Pears, candied pecans, teardrop tomatoes and blue cheese with a creamy vinaigrette. Delicious. Would definitely order this again. The seared salmon with broccolini and vegetables was very good. Our friends said their steaks were okay. They did not finish them. We added sides of au gratin potatoes, mashed potatoes and wild mushrooms. The au gratin potatoes were delicious, but would not recommend the mashed potatoes or mushrooms which were not served hot. Was looking forward to a special something to end the night and we kept waiting and waiting. We did order three desserts for the table, creme brûlée, bread pudding and something else that was not memorable. Surprised because at two other Landry's in Houston two weeks earlier, Grotto and McCormick and Schmick's, we got a nice slice of decorated chocolate cake and a birthday song for my birthday and then a surprise sweet treat for my nephew's first Happy Hour. Our server was the sweetest and made sure to tell me Happy Birthday throughout the entire dinner. The bread at the beginning was a little hard, but the caesar salad I got was fresh and tasty. I also tried the lobster bisque which was 10/10! Our server made sure to get the bread crumbs off our table, which was nice! The steak though, was probably the best steak I have ever had. It was juicy and seasoned so well. At the end, I was brought out a sweet birthday dessert that was to die for. Five star prices - two star experience. We decided to celebrate our 48th anniversary by doing something special. We usually go to another local upscale restaurant, however it was closed. In order to enter V & A's one must pass through the casino lobby. If you enjoy the smell of stale cigarettes and loud shopping mall music, you will feel right at home. We were seated on time and greeted by a very polite and competent waiter. The staff is well trained and efficient. The ambiance is elegant as one would expect. And the background music was much nicer than the what we heard outside. Regarding the food - this is where V & A earned the 2 stars. We began with champagne cocktails which were quite good. The crab cake and salads that followed were also very good. If we had stopped here, we would have been quite satisfied and I would have given 4 stars. Our entrees were lobster tail for my wife and an 8 ounce filet for myself. Both were served on 10 inch white plates completely devoid of any side dishes or garnish of any kind. I did order asparagus which was served on a separate plate. These entrees would have been fine had they been as delicious as expected for the price. However, the "prime" filet had the taste and texture of sirloin rather the melt in your mouth, cut it with a fork texture and flavor one would expect. A 3 inch wide piece of beef on a 10 inch bare plate looked pretty lonesome. The lobster lacked the sweetness one would expect in light of the price which suggested it was flown in on a charter jet with the care of an organ donation. The highlight of the evening was the desert. A piece of cake with a sliced canned pear on top and two Biscoff cookies like those sold at the local grocery store. And they do not serve decaf coffee in the evening. I suppose they want the gamblers to remain alert. Sadly if you have need of the restroom during the evening, you will need to leave the restaurant and pass though the smoky halls and shops to get there. So, if you are ready to spend what equals an average car payment on all of this, you won't be disappointed. read more

Fantastic steakhouse in the Golden Nugget Casino. The menu is very focused and has the traditional entrees and side dishes you'd expect in a great steakhouse. We started with a dozen Gulf oysters on the half shell, which were perfectly shucked and the oysters loosened so that we could enjoy the meat and liquor within and not get shards of shell. We also enjoyed the tuna poke that was absolutely fresh, although the spicy sauce leaned a bit towards being salty. The chopped salad was huge and we ended up splitting one order-the plate could have been served as a meal. For dinner we enjoyed the American Wagyu skirt steaks served with a chimichurri sauce and topped with a beautifully fried egg. The dish was accompanied by luscious duck fat potatoes. The steaks were unbelievably tender and flavorful and cooked perfectly medium rare and the egg was a perfect addition with its gooey yumminess. The beef at this location is sourced from Heartbrand in Yoakum, Texas, well-known for its certified Akaushi beef. Service was stellar and friendly. If you want a great dinner while visiting the casino, this is the place to go. Recommended. read more

Came here on a date while staying at the Golden Nugget over a busy holiday weekend. We had reservations and only had to wait a few extra minutes over our scheduled time. There's a few benches outside the restaurant I'm the lobby of the casino to sit. Otherwise you'll have to stand. From the moment we sat down, everything was phenomenal! Our server was very attentive and polite. My date ordered the lobster Mac n cheese, I tasted it and was immediately jealous I hadn't ordered it! I got the mashed potatoes and a ribeye. I came here twice in two days. The best service I received was from Elliot. Very professional. The food quality was hit and miss. I tried the pear salad, the 16 oz ribeye with peppercorn, lobster mac and cheese, Crab cake, bread pudding, salmon, mashed potatoes, brussel sprouts, and asparagus. The sides were cold to lukewarm. The lobster mac and cheese wasn't bad. I just didn't like that it was fried and they didn't have another option. The steak was good. The crab cake was good. My husband also enjoyed his lobster bisque The salmon was good but the pollution near by caused me not to enjoy it. Worried this may be local farm raised fish. The salad was good the second time with Elliot because he offered the dressing on the side. The first time it was a soggy mess. I also didn't like that there salads are mostly iceberg lettuce and not a blend of spinach or arugula. Not really worth 18.00. The ginger beer was the best I ever tasted. Long story short - make a reservation! My husband and I are regulars at the Golden Nugget. We normally walk in and grab a seat at the bar. This particular night we didn't have a reservation and the bar was full. We saw 7+ tables available at 9:45pm. We inquired with the hostess regarding a table and she refused to seat us. So, we ask for the manager..which took about 8-9 minutes for him to acknowledge us. Which he informed us they were reserved and the people had a 20 min grace period (10 pm now). He stated at 10:05pm he could seat us if none of the reservations showed up. The hostess ended up sitting us immediately after speaking with the manager. After spending 20 mins going round and round with the hostess for an 1/2 empty restaurant we were able to enjoy my birthday. The food and service was great! I'm not a big Vic n Anthony's fan of the Houston location but Lake Charles is always great. Overall experience was disappointing considering we were staying in a penthouse and celebrating my birthday. read more

Our server was also friendly and attentive. He placed our drink order immediately. However, none of us were fans of our cocktails - Pear Blossoms and Manhattan. The food, on the other hand, was very good. We had wanted the bone-in ribeye, but they were out. Disappointing, but the 22oz ribeye made up for it. It was nicely cooked and had good flavor.
