This is a great place for gifts and novelty items. I purchased a coin purse by Anne Taintor and some hand sanitizer that says "You nasty!". Haaa! Anyway, it's cool to browse through. The clothing is really not my style. It 's a mashup of ratchet meets 50's vixen babe with a dash of Bourbon street night walker. Lots of lace, dark colors, sheer items, fishnet panty hose, awkward heels, etc. They offer men's clothing, too. The store owner was on the phone the entire time while I was there, so he didn't greet/smile/acknowledge anyone that walked through his door. That was a bummer. There are several of these little shops along Main St. in Half Moon Bay, so you're not missing out on much. If customer service is a priority for you, this is not your place. If you don't mind wandering aimlessly throughout the store and browsing the variety of knick knacks...come on in! read more

Probably a shop I will never come back to. I walked in and was given a stilted hello and a lengthy critical look from top to bottom, paying special attention to my bag. Yep, it's nice right? $200 bucks new. I blinked and continued my stroll around, not understanding the theme, or I should say 'themes'. The music and some of the items brought to mind a French boutique, but most of the merchandise was beach Hawaiian Bettie Page 40's - 60's and everything was brand new, hot off the mass quantity cheaply made press, ie... not vintage. Eh. What? Why? If you're going to sell 40's - 60's styles, keep to the theme or go the extra mile and make it a vintage store. Or if you would prefer a French boutique (which The Posh Moon accomplishes well) keep to the French re-imagining. Or at least be French and bring your culture to the U.S. Because by far the worst and most unforgivable sin of my experience was the bougie nouveau French music. I understand setting a mood but... this wasn't a French boutique, the space simply smacked of cultural appropriation. All in all I'm not sure what Rouge aims to be, a United States 50's Do-Wop beach stop, or a French Parisian boutique, because it? Accomplishes neither. Update: 4/2017 Found a dress I purchased at a vintage store I love from their small "new" section also for sale from Rouge on their website. $99 at Rouge. I paid $48 for it at Park Place Vintage. My daughter and I saw a beautiful dress in the window and discovered that the dresses were just my daughter's style and fit beautifully! She tried on a number of the dresses, and the owner brought her several more that she might never have considered. They were adorable and super flattering, too! The most challenging part was choosing just a few to purchase. I think this will be our go-to gift shop from now on. We purchased two dresses, two matching cardigans, a blouse, and a pair of shoes for my daughter to take to college. She was SO excited by the selection, and, truly, the owner couldn't have been lovelier. read more

Ignore the one negative review. I asked the incredibly helpful and nice owner of the shop about the "no photo" signs. She explained that young people come in and take pictures of the items in the store to find them online for less, which is rude and disgusting. If I were the owner of a small business, I'd do the exact same. It's hard enough making a living in this world as a small business owner, without customers trying to sink you before your very eyes. If you're going to go into a lovely shop like this one, which is clearly and painstakingly assembled with care and passion, SUPPORT SMALL BUSINESS and buy something. Such a fun little store! Full of unique items from clothing and accessories to those amusing little toiletries (I think they're by Bluefly or something?) for "bad girls". You can also find a wide variety of Spanx and the like here too. Situated right on Main Street, it's the perfect place to stop in for a browse during a weekend stroll. I think this place used to be called Damsel In A Dress at one point. Well either way it's the same store, different name. This place is a cute boutique with a healthy selection of stylish but not super young clothing. It's a shop to find a dress, an outfit, shoes or accessories for an event (be it a wedding, special night out with the ladies or a special someone, you get the idea right?). In other words, it's a little much for an everyday purchase (unless you get a chance to dress up and look cute and pretty everyday in which case I hate you and I would love to pull a Freaky Friday on your ass...) Rogue carries all sorts of important/ practical accessories and items like toe grips and non skid soles for high heels, quality self adhesive nipple guards/ bra cups and Spanx all at comparable prices to boutiques all over the Bay Area. Plus they carry fun cosas from familiar lines like Miso Pretty and that Ann chick who makes stickers and magnets with funny phrases taped over retro pics (you know who I mean ) and lots of sparkly (but not in a Vegas drag queen way) purses, jewelry and hair accessories in all price ranges which are perfect for gift giving (even if it's a gift for yourself). read more

This is a fun shop! I was drawn in by the watermelon skirt and fabulous bright pink handbag in the window. This is a retro-inspired store (NOT a vintage store). Lots of terrific gifts, jewelry, dresses and cute shoes. Unfortunately I think some customers have taken advantage of the store as there are "no photos" signs everywhere and the salesperson had to tell people no less than 5 times while I was there. I too didn't know all sales were final until I checked out, however the person helping me did tell me before she rang up the sale and said if I changed my mind, it was store credit only. This is reasonable given that it's a one-shop boutique. There's a price point for everyone even as low as a couple of dollars. read more

This place deserves the most scathing of reviews. Located in downtown Half Moon Bay, this awful store is seldom open. It's always closed and it should just be closed permanently. Recently had the misfortune of entering this lame establishment only to be met by the rudest employees I've ever encountered. "Don't take pictures"- signs saying this all over. When really what is it you're going to take pictures of...? The stickers and other trinkets. The lady working there was rude, hope this place tanks. Not nice, no money for you. Went into this store with my wife and she loved it! I love the couch to relax on as she was like a little kid in a candy shop. The couple who owned the store were very sweet and fun to talk to! We walked in on impulse towards the end of her day, and could not have had a lovelier experience unless she has a secret champagne stash. I tried on a beautiful summer dress that fit perfectly, was handily paired with a matching sweater and shoes. If this place was closer to where I currently live I'd be there once a week. I came up to Half Moon Bay to go to the beach today and hang out but since it was cloudy decided to go into downtown and stumbled on this lovely vintage store, everything is brand new btw. All retro , pin up style, love it. I love how they had seating area at the back for my husband to rest whilst I browsed the store. Everything was fabulous, it was a little expensive but pin up always is. I have a ton of pin up dressed, 50s attire so I wasn't really wanting to buy anymore but I did fancy a nice shirt there but instead walked out with some cute shoes that were my size and meant for me. I will take a look at their online store and probably order in the future. I loved all the shoes mostly. Wish I lived closer but they have online store so YAY!!! The woman working in this shop when I went here was rude and snobby. First she chastised me for taking a picture of a hat I was considering purchasing and then she advised that dogs were not allowed in her store even though my 10lb Maltipoo had already been in the store for 30 minutes and was held the entire time. Bottom line: put signs up with the store restrictions so people can avoid getting reprimanded. I will NEVER shop here again and I've advised all of my friends via my social media sites of the stores ridiculous rules. after lunch at chez shea, we popped on by this little boutique. im not a big shopper, but was amazed at all the variety they had in this store. really cute and random things from shoes, purses, I love Penis anti-bacterial, car freshners, chocolates, clothes, you name it! very cute, and reasonably priced, considering everything was on sale in the store. Although I didn't buy anything, my girlfriend bought 2 cute shirts, the other a headband. As I waited for them outside, a lot of people kept going in, so must be a very well known shop. read more

Terrible! They don't stand behind their merchandise. You don't find out that the sale is final until you have paid and get your receipt. The sign saying "all sales are final" is barely visible and so easy to miss. Bought a purse which I used only a few times, and had problems with the zipper. Hard to close at times, and then suddenly would open at the closed end or in the middle, and it was unpredictable, in other words-defective zipper. Took it back, and the men who was at the store just kept repeating over and over that all sales were final, and I could only get credit in the store. Did not care one bit that the zipper was defective, and told me I should have checked it before I bought it, and also said he didn't see anything wrong with it because it closed when he tried it-basically he was saying that he didn't know whether I was telling the truth. Terrible attitude and customer service. Wouldn't never go there again or recommend this place. Who knows where they get their merchandise! I am out $75 A frustrated customer read more

Rouge is fantastic and fun, and I love that they stock bigger sizes in denim, and often have XL sizes in tops and Ls in dresses. I asked for some long dresses and when they came in, the owner remembered that I asked months before and she pulled out one that I pounced on immediately. Very Pucci-esque! I have purchased denim here, accessories (my favorite rings) and lip gloss (NYX- fab stuff), and it is one of those places where you always score something you love. read more

I walked into this store because I saw a pair of beautiful glasses in the store window; however, as soon as I walked in, I changed my mind. The service is horrible and made me feel very uncomfortable. When my friends and I walked in, the man that worked there rudely demanded that we put our bags by the door. He never said hello or asked us what we wanted. I would also would like to point out that all of the other customers in the store had their bags with them, NOT by the door. This treatment continued as we walked around the store. He watched us wherever we went. As soon as we left one location, he would go there and count the merchandise to make sure we didn't "steal" anything. He flat-out ignored the other customers, so he could watch us. The store is very cute, but I don't think I will go back soon due to this behavior. It is clear that this store is discriminatory to young people, which is disappointing. Wonderful little boutique! I was visiting the area from out of town and needed an outfit for an evening event. The sales lady was amazing. She listened to what I was looking for, brought me options, helped me choose, made suggestions, etc. But I felt no pressure at all - completely relaxed and comfortable. This was the cutest boutique shop ever! It creatively mixes unique gift items with a flare for nostalgia. The shop is put together very creatively down to the wallpaper and the pictures on the wall, making you feel like you want to go back in time! My experience on 10/20/2012 to this boutique which happened to be my first anniversary was a rude,sarcastic ,disappointing experience in this boutique.My husband and I went in to browse around and possibility purchasing a hat for myself.There was this beautiful pepper red hat with a black flower in the front that I admired and took a picture.The non friendly sales girl was rude and sarcastic to my husband.She said we couldn't take pictures in her store and it wasn't a museum.My husband had no problem purchasing this 25.00 hat if I truly wanted it because of her offensive non professional attitude we left that store immediately without the hat We were staying at Zebella bed and breakfast so money wasn't an issue,it was this sale girl ugly attitude was the problem.So unfortunately I'll tell my friends and family about my horrible experience! read more

Recently moved to Half moon bay and needed an outfit for a night out with my husband. When I walked into this store I very nervous since I had to bring my 2 small children with me. I was having a hard time looking as I was worried that my children would destroy the store. So the lady ( I think owner) brought out some toys and books to keep them entertained. She then helped me pick out several outfits to try on after I explained that I was going to dinner with my husband and hadn't been on a real date in a long time. While I tried on the clothes she sat there with my kids and talked with my 3yo asking all kinds of questions. She was very nice and patient with all of us. I had a very hard time making up my mind. Some of the items in the store were a bit pricey but for the service I recived it was well worth it!!! I will be shopping here again hopefully without my children but at least I know they are welcome. It is a great little store and has lots of beautiful clothes in it. read more
