The senior center is adjacent to Buttercup Creek Park, though it has a separate parking lot. The entrance is from the parking lot and not the side of the building that faces the street. When I was there, I saw groups of seniors playing card games. There were around 6 or 7 tables, with 3-4 seniors each. Staff also manages the place, keeps the areas clean and tidy, and organizes varying events throughout each month. They have weekly events, and the center serves as a central gathering place for retirees. I love the social aspect of this place as I know my in-laws can take advantage of it. Everyone I met that day was very kind and helpful in directing me where I needed to go. I hope to revisit it another time, perhaps as a volunteer.

I visit my husband there almost daily and the residents are treated with respect and allowed to function at whatever level they are comfortable. My husband eats with the same 3 people for every meal and the residents seem to be "sorted" so they sit with people with similar levels of comprehension. Autumn Leaves schedules regular entertainment. There are several TV rooms and outdoor seating areas and the residents feel comfortable roaming throughout the facility. They aren't embarrassed when they can't remember where their room is and just ask for help. The residents feel at home and want to help each other out whenever they see someone struggling. Most of all, I am so grateful for the change in my husband. It has been incredible! In just the few short weeks he has been there, he has changed from an angry, aggressive person who hated me to the kind, affectionate man I married. I don't know how long this will last but it has been a godsend for both of us. Thank you.

My mother had been a resident at Autumn Leaves of Georgetown for almost three years, since August…read moreof 2016. In the early days of her stay there it was very nice. The rooms were kept clean and my mother was kept clean, dry, and comfortable for the most part. We had a few problems but as we made report of those problems the Executive Director and the Director of Healthcare were very compassionate and understanding. In each case where we felt that my mother was being neglected or mistreated we were given apologies and assurance that it would not happen again and for the following two years it didn't happen again. Unfortunately, over the last several months that hasn't been the case. The Georgetown Autumn Leaves facility is no longer able to maintain staff. From their healthcare team and caregivers, to their other staff, it's become a revolving door with almost complete staff turnover every few months. They have been without a nurse, or Director of Healthcare, since their last Director of Healthcare resigned in February and the care went downhill fast. We were so concerned about a situation of severe neglect, which endangered my mother's health, and was not addressed or corrected, and we were forced to do an emergency move out and move her into another facility. That is an extremely difficult thing to do with a person suffering from advanced dementia and loss of mobility. They promise to have nurses and well trained staff to take good care of your loved ones and this is what happened to my mother: she had been ill with something that almost took her away from us and left her unresponsive (unconscious) and unable to breath and blue except with constant oxygen which lasted for almost three days, from April 9th through April 11th. On April 10 I advised my brother, who resides out of state, that his family needed to come down because we didn't think she would make it trough the night. During this time, even though my mother had been there for almost three years, not a single person other than one caregiver, offered any well wishes for my mother or showed us or my mother any compassion or sympathy. Luckily my mother did pull through and she came around on April 12. She was able to get out of bed again but with her hospice nurse's instructions: that she should be put into bed anytime she started turning blue or slumping over in her wheelchair; that the head of her bed needed to be raised to help her breath easier at all times when she was in bed; that they should administer a dose of medication to calm her if she became agitated because during that illness she developed a rash and was getting very hot and itchy to the point that she was scratching bad enough to break her skin and draw blood; that she have her oxygen on at all time when she was in bed; and that her hospice should be called if there were any issues or they needed help with her. On April 14 at 12:15 we we nt to check on her and found her in her room being punished for being agitated and difficult. She was obviously hot and uncomfortable, and had become agitated. We were told that she kept kicking off her sheets and pulling at her clothing and rather than give her something to help her or calling the hospice for help, as they promised they would, they chose to strip her and her bed and just leave her alone and terrified to fend for herself without her oxygen or the bed raised even though she is helpless and completely at their mercy. She is not able to defend herself, or help herself, at all and is completely at their mercy. I write that because after my husband, and I, discovered her in that condition and demanded to know why they were treating my mother like an animal we were told that she had become very agitated and that they had done their best. 12:00 is mealtime so all the staff was in the dining room with the other residents and it took almost 15 minutes, and a sec ond plea for help, before anyone showed up to help my mother. We reported the incident to the person in charge that day and assumed that they would take it seriously and follow up with us the following work day when management was on site. The following day no one did follow up so I called to speak with the person that they've been presenting as the person in charge of care. When I inquired about the situation and if anything had been done about it I was told, by the Executive Director who was listening in on the call, that she had a 'different view' of the situation and that she had been given supporting statements, by three people who were not even present during the situation, attesting to my mothers severe agitation and the staff having done their best. I told her that it was not acceptable for my mother to be treated that way and that I could no longer trust them to take care of her so I would be there immediately to move her out and she told me she was sorry that I FELT that way. She did not offer any apology for my mother being mistreated or jeopardized. She did not offer any assu

My kids stayed for almost 2 hours and the only reason we left then is because they were starting to turn red from their sunscreen wearing off. The lifeguards were also great. We have gotten so used to overbearing lifeguards this summer who blow their whistles and yell nonstop and this was a nice change of pace. They were very patient with everyone, using normal speaking voices and only using whistles if someone was doing something dangerous. It made for a very relaxing and fun experience. The entry for kids is about standard ($3 each) and a bit higher than usual for adults ($6 each) but one of the benefits of this is that the place wasn't very crowded so we were able to have a good time without feeling cramped. We'll definitely be coming back again, kids and adults had a great time.

One time I jumped in the water at Lady Bird Lake, and I got morbidly ill for days and could not get out of bed. I would highly not recommend getting in the water there. That being said, Lake Georgetown is quite different and it would seem that the water is pretty clean there. It probably goes without saying it is much less crowded than Lake Austin/Travis or anything near downtown, and it has plenty of space for picnicking, camping, fishing, and other outdoor activities. Usually I will go running around Lake Georgetown because it is much less crowded than Lake Austin, and there are shorter routes depending how far you want to run. I guess the one thing I will say is that the trails to "hike" or walk around the lake are not as established as some other hiking trails I've been on, so just be prepared for that and maybe don't wear short shorts if you're going to try any hikes around the lake.

You will find a gym, concert venue, another large room, 2 smaller rooms, a business center, a book and puzzle exchange, game room, coffee bar, full kitchen, and about four dozen parking spaces out front. Some of the attractions here are scheduled concerts, line dancing and yoga along with various classes. There are no pickle ball or basketball courts here. She's flexible and does her best to ensure that a partnership is established between herself and the parents, ultimately for kids. I greatly appreciated that. This is now the only studio my girls want to attend; they had so much fun! On June 22nd at 12pm my 8-year-old daughter was aggressively approached by a father after leaving a…read moreYoung Rembrandts summer art class being provided by Pflugerville Parks and Recreation. At no time was my husband or I notified of an incident occurring at the facility or during art class. Rob McDonald and Whitney Seaton both employees of the Rec facility assumed I was aware of the situation solely based on speculation that my aunt who was caring for my daughter while I was away on business had been able to get a hold of me. The first time I heard from any party was when Rob McDonald called my cell phone to tell me the outcome or determination for my daughter's enrollment in the class. Rob called and stated my daughter could no longer attend art class at their facility. Rob and Whitney did not call us as parents to inform us of the incident or to tell us that you all would need to speak to all parties involved like my daughter or the other party BEFORE coming to a decision. They spoke to the other party ONLY and decided based on that one party. Due to the other party involved being Caucasian and us being minorities this does make the situation feel race related. It does cause my husband and I to feel like there are grounds for a civil suit for discrimination. Not only did you all reprimand my daughter, but you all allowed a white entitled father to also reprimand her. You all failed my daughter and did not keep her safe. Pflugerville Parks and Recreation Dept as a whole needs new procedures and policies in place to protect other children of color from discrimination like what my daughter was subjected to. You all are at fault for how this situation was handled. Young Rembrandts and the Pflugerville Parks and Recreation facility decided based on a "she said" scenario without communicating with all parties involved and doing an actual investigation. Our daughter was traumatized and terrified by the father that approached her. Rob and Whitney continue to word things like you aren't privy to what occurred at the facility entrance and framing things as if he approached my aunt and daughter. Please do not minimize or attempt to downplay what that father did. He walked up to my 8-year-old black daughter, and he said, "Did we have a problem today?" My then terrified 8-year-old responded to him and began to explain herself. This is a situation that no child should ever find themselves in. I will not stand for any injustices. I do not recommend this facility if you are a minority.

It's definitely an aging facility that doesn't boast the latest in exercise equipment, but we have those places around. Here's what I love: $2/hour child care, and it's GOOD -- people who seem to love kids are taking care of them. $1 walking track -- you can't beat that for a walking alternative when it's too hot, cold or rainy. Finally, great programming -- the swim lessons at Gilleland Creek, gymnastics for kids -- again, taught by kind, loving and knowledgable instructors. I really feel like this is a special gem that gives me the warm "pfuzzies" about Pflugerville! :)

Directly behind the park you'll find a very nice hike and bike trail that takes you to Brightwater Blvd. One thing to keep in mind is that this park is under 24 hour surveillance. Definitely a well-thought-out space for the residents of Fernbluff.
