Went for karaoke to celebrate graduation. We got there at 11am and they had ran out of pizza from the prior night. They have a huge song selection, but we probably wasted 15 minutes trying to figure out how to adjust the sound and use the remote to select songs because nobody cared to show us how. All Exclusive Kid Party (ABSOLUTELY AWFUL) Yesterday evening, I hosted an end of summer party for my 9 friends and me. The issues started right away, when we stepped foot into the building and just kept coming after that. We had strictly 2 hours for the party, so of course they started us 15 min late! They didn't have any of our party papers out, so the young lady at the front desk gave us a very confused look when we went up to pay for the party. For food, the wings and fries were good, but the pizza was awful (no wonder it was unlimited)! Afterwards, we went and played some arcade games for a little while to let our stomach's rest before we got ice cream. When we came back, they handed out some of the girls two scoops (fantastic right), but before getting towards the end of the line, started telling the girls they couldn't have any ice cream at all. They claimed by unlimited, they meant 10 SCOOPS in total!!! They then told these young girls aged 7-11, that they would have to pay for every other scoop of ice cream they wanted. Another excuse they made up is that ice cream isn't considered a food, even though on the flyer they had handed us, it listed the unlimited foods- ice cream being one of them. Luckily, one of the strongly spoken moms spoke with the two argumentative girls working there, and somehow got each of the three kids one scoop of ice cream. Lastly, when this mom had brought the manager over, he stood there, and gave forth no help at all. read more

Had my wife's birthday at Round 1 with 30 of my friends and had the best service by the entire staff and particularly the manager Vern. He went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time. Unfortunately while celebrating my fiancé's friends birthday at #Round1Aurora we were mistreated and asked to leave. There was 20 of us African Americans both male and female. We all paid $28 for bowling, karaoke, arcade games and unlimited food for 2 hours. After the first 30 minutes of bowling the lanes began to malfunction. We informed the manager and she suggested we move over to karaoke and we would be allowed back to bowling on different lanes. Karaoke was scheduled for 1 hour. Upon that hour #Round1 security came in the room several times to inform us liquor was not allowed. No one had liquor, only fountain drink cups. 40 minutes into karaoke, staff and the same security officer informed us our time was up. The birthday girl asked for the additional 20mins to complete the hour. She was denied. She then asked to be moved to the bowling lanes for the hour we were promised due to the lanes malfunctioning. Again she was denied by staff and security. She asked to speak to the manager, who was the supervisor of technician aka he was over the arcade games and per him He reported not having the power to grant the request and when asked to call the manager on duty, who promised the bowling, he reported he did not have her number. #Round1 security then called mall security and at this point the birthday girls husband called APD. After continuous request to complete the hour of bowling promised to us, we continued to be denied. At this point we decided to drop the situation and call corporate on Monday morning. APD then walked over to the party and asked us to leave the establishment per the request of #Round1 staff. We never raised our voices, destroyed property or caused a scene. So why do we need to leave? Can we not stay and patronize the business if we choose? #Round1Aurora the treatment we received today was unacceptable. read more

THIS PLACE APPARENTLY DISCRIMINATES AGAINST BLACKS. Seriously, all was well for about the 1st hour, until a security guard walked up to me and my family and asked if it was okay for him to look in our purses. Um excuse me I think not. His reason was that it was policy to check everyone's bags and purses after 10pm. First and foremost why weren't everyone's bags checked at the door? Secondly I have NEVER heard of any facility requesting to check someone's personal belongings after already being granted access inside the facility. Let along there was no probable cause for them to check our bags. After we politely said no, then came a total of 4 security guards saying that if we didn't let them search our bags we had to leave. Seriously? Oh and let me also state that when the Manager came to further explain, he stated that all they needed was for us to show our ID's since it was after 10pm. Well showing an id, vs checking someone's personal belongings are 2 separate things. I'm uncertain why they decided to target our group, (yes all of us are black) but the whole situation was completely causeless and I will never spend a dime in that place again. I have been going to this place for quite sometime now. Love coming here! Great for date night or a group of your friends. Bowling, pool, ping pong, and a large array of arcade games can all be found. The staff definitely does not want to be there is probably my only complaint. The absolute worst place to go to to have "fun". We have been waiting for an hour to bowl. My husband said something to an employee at the 30min mark and then a few mins later we saw people who were behind us in line go first to bowl. Apparently the employee my husband complained to didn't like it and then put us at the end of the waitlist. It has now been an hour and a half and we are still waiting. They have 16 lanes and 6 are broken and 2 they refuse to clean so people can fill them up. This place is a joke and I refuse to give them my business now we have been here multiple times and every single time we have nothing but problems here, and not just with bowling. All the arcade games are rigged, their card system to play the games is even more rigged. You put money in a machine and they give you a game card, but the catch is you have to swipe your card at least twice at most games just to get it to work and yet they still take the game credit twice or more depending how many times you have swiped. I'm currently sitting here at Round1. The bar service was lousy and the slowest I've seen, not to mention their "cleaning" of glasses is disgusting. I drank my beer from a straw so as to not touch my lips to dirty glass. Then upon enjoying our night here we were able to purchase a game card to play games at 1:30am but unable to utilize it after 1:35am when unannounced the games were all stating "sorry out of order". Just bc they were vacuuming early and clearly closing prior to the 2am close time. We won't come back. read more

Went to Round 1. Horrible time. My drink had a small piece of either glass or hard plastic in it. I went to drink it and luckily caught it before swallowing. The piece got knocked off the table when our bowling neighbors were getting messy with their stuff. I am so anxious now worried I swallowed other bits. The music was also so loud, it was not a mix of styles just loud hip hop that gave me a headache. There was the stench of weed surrounding us which did not make for a pleasant time. The music. So loud. We had an issue with pins not being up and the game counting score wrong and tried to call an attendant. There was no one. No one showed up as we sat there for over 5 minutes waiting. I know it was busy but come on. There were no bowling shoes available when we got there in the correct size for either of us. Go figure it would be just the start to a bad time. I didn't get a receipt from the bar and the guy that gave me my poisoned drink walked away so I couldn't ask. There was also a challenge to beat your score second game. It said after the second game to call an attendant to verify score but when we tried the scores were gone and it had reset. No way to even call someone. Then we went to the counter as it said you could get a prize for the challenge and with only one customer standing there no one said anything or acknowledged us. So we waited and no one would help. We eventually walked out and will not ever be returning to Round 1. read more

For a price of $200 for 7 people, with 1.5 hrs bowling playing time, 2 large pizzas, wings and soda, it's well worth it. Delicious food, great place and wonderful & friendly staff. I definitely prefer this one over the location in Bloomingdales. This location is more spacious, with the game machines less cramped together. The staffs are also very patient and helpful, not to mention super friendly. We've been going here since it opened, Aurora IL location. It was amazing at first. But it doesn't seem like they've been keeping up on it. It just feels dirty inside. And my the games keep eating credits off my sons card. Also AVOID the so called manager Carla. She didn't look like she even worked there. All the other employees at least had Round One shirts or name tags on. She is extremely rude. And definitely NOT keeping 6 feet from customers. I saw her arguing with a customer (not sure what about) But she was definitely NOT professional about it. We'll be taking my son to a different Round one. Even if we have to drive an hour. If I could give 0 stars I would. The service to get food was so incredibly slow, 3 people on our lane finished their game before our 2 orders of fries and 1 order of mozzarella sticks were done. In addition to this, we had to switch lanes THREE (3) times because the lanes kept messing up and glitching. The result was that we ended up at a lane that had dirty dishes on it. No one ever came to clean them up or anything. We pressed the service button, no one came. We had to go up to the desk to receive assistance, and even that took quite the time. We ended up spending over 2 hours here and barely even finished one game of bowling due to all of the inconveniences. It's a Friday night, it's not very busy (only 3 other parties bowling). Horrible experience. Asked for a cup of water and the manager David was very rude. Asked for a cup of water, directed us to the bar and the bartender directed us back to him. Made us pay 3 dollars for a cup of water. Napkins needed to be stocked and pointed to the drinking station. With an attitude. Like what kind of service is that? Very disappointed in our customer service. We were celebrating a birthday in which we paid $600 for the Adult all inclusive party. We arrived on time and our lanes were not working. We were supposed to have an hour of bowling but we were never able to even finish one game because the lanes were not properly working. We were told by the supervisor Jackie that we could continue our party for our hour of karaoke and we would be given an extra hour of bowling after that. Well we were told to go into a certain room for karaoke but this rooms electronics were not working either. When asked what the issue were staff told us that they were not associated with the parties. We were then told to move to another room in which we were now 20 mins into our karaoke time. We enjoyed karaoke for about 40 mins and the system was cut off. When we asked for the rest of our 20 minutes and our hour of bowling that was promised by Jackie were told that she was gone for the night and they had no way of reaching their employee and we would not be able to get this time back that was paid for. Our group asked for either our money back as we had not been able to utilize our entire time or events in our package. We were told we could have NOTHING. After getting nothing out of our experience except money paid to them we were asked to leave. On top of all this the chicken was not fully cooked and the pizza was not done and tasted like dough. Unfornately we will NEVER visit this establishment again and I hope after reading this no one else does!!!!!! We will all be filing complaints with corporate Monday morning. Good day Mr. Boyd, I am sending this correspondence in regard to my unpleasant and unprofessional experience I had at Round 1 in the Fox Valley Mall in Aurora, Illinois on November 16, 2019 from 5:30 pm until 7:30 pm. I was with a group of friends for a birthday celebration for Mrs. Crowder. First of all, none of the employees were wearing name badges. Our first encounter with your staff was with Jackie, (the supervisor) on duty at the time. We began our evening at the scheduled time and attempted to bowl. We were on lanes 2,3, and 4 as our group had 17 people total. The bowling lanes malfunctioned numerous times during our games forcing us to call staff for assistance. We were unable to even complete one full round of bowling due to this incident. At this point it is 6:30 pm and Jackie (the supervisor) came and told Mrs. Crowder to discontinue bowling and go to the karaoke room. She said after that she would give us a full hour of bowling to compensate us. Mrs. Crowder explained the difficulties we were experiencing with bowling. We were then instructed to go to room 3 to begin karaoke. We all entered and found the television and karaoke equipment not set up. After approximately 15 minutes Mrs. Crowder went to the front desk for assistance and was told she and the group were sent to the wrong room. Mrs. Crowder was informed that the full karaoke time would be given since the staff directed her to the wrong room. The group then moved to room 3 and was able to begin karaoke only to have the time cut to only 40 minutes instead of the full hour. At this time, Mrs. Crowder and myself went to speak to the staff regarding the issue and was told Jackie (the supervisor) had left for the day and had not told them of our groups issues. At this time we spoke with Abigail (waitstaff) and Forrest who identified himself as the current supervisor. Abigail was very impatient,uncooperative, and rude at listening to our concerns. Forrest offered to look into the concerns but said he did not have any way to contact the previous supervisor Jackie to clarify the situation. Neither of the staff members attempted to facilitate a resolution to our issues stating "we have no control over what happened and your party was scheduled to end at 7:30 pm". Mrs. Crowder and I attempted to compromise with the staff asking for the remaining 20 minutes of karaoke and the hour of bowling promised by Jackie to accommodate our party. The staff refused to take our concerns into consideration and refused to accommodate us in any way including refunds. Law enforcement was then called in order to facilitate some type of accommodation with no neither option agreed upon. The staff then began to antagonize our group and laugh about the situation at hand causing increased tension and frustration. I have never had such unprofessional service of this level and disregard for customer satisfaction. I have previously attended Round 1 in Georgia and enjoyed it, but from this experience I will never patronize this establishment ever again. I have informed my friends and family about this disrespectful situation and advised them of utilizing Round 1 for any reason. I will also be leaving comments on social media and the local news stations regarding this treatment. I was adamant about leaving this correspondence to inform you of your establishment and their inappropriate behavior towards minorities. read more

During Aurora's spring break, took my daughter there, expecting it to be a little crowded despite it being a Wednesday night. It was actually dead. Now I know why. We started with bowling, and you could just tell none of the employees cared or wanted to be there. After we signed up for bowling we went to order some food. We ordered nachos, they were out. We ordered Mozzarella sticks, they were out. Although the menu didn't say hot dogs, its printed on their wall, but apparently they didn't have that either. So pizza slice it was. Besides it taking forever to get the food, it was pretty bad pizza. Afterwards, we went to get ice cream, and ordered chocolate ice cream....they were out. Went upstairs to the arcade. $30 barely lasted 30 minutes. Felt like it was a little overpriced, considering the air hockey didn't work & the "beer" pong game had maybe 2 ping pong balls and it should have 24 or at least enough to fill a complete game. There was garbage everywhere in the walkways and on the games. By the end of the night it started to get crowded but the employees were moving so slow, that we waited almost 15 minutes just to check out of the "prize area". There is a good mix of games in the arcade, and the bowling alley itself is nice, but overall its managed & run very poorly. read more

The staff is a bunch of young kids even the managers, they don't care if you complain, then waited 10 minutes for 2 soft drinks because the guy at the bar was busy talking the someone. For some reason the bowling lane froze when the pin thing went down, froze for about 10 mins hit the service button no one came after 20 minuets I went to the desk, told them I had gotten the 90 bowl and she rolled her eyes, oh but when I told her I we were leaving she wasted no time to cancel the remaining time. Worst 100$ I have ever spent!!! Then I asked for corporates number she said they didnt have a corporate, really!!! An ok place for karaoke, didn't sample the other areas of the place. There were technical difficulties with the karaoke system for about 15-30 minutes since the remote wasn't working (remote was taped or semi banged up already)and the controls on the system itself wasn't working , there was some sort of glitch with the system, but the staff compensated our time by not charging the wasted minutes and instead would start counting our time once they finished fixing it. The sound of the songs I didn't like as much as Woori Village in Niles where it sounds more similar to the original. We got a big room since we had 7 people (6 -10 people , you have to get a big room), the couches were comfortable , but didn't seem as intimate or less fun since it still seemed too big for 7 people. Supposedly no drinks are allowed in the rooms, even though there's a bar downstairs where the bowling alley & pool tables are located at, so that sucked. Food may be allowed, although the food provided downstairs are your typical American staples- hot dog, etc. May try this place again since it's the closest and practically only place that has karaoke rooms in the area , but go with less people for a small room. This place has the worst service for food or drinks! The bartender literally waits on one person at a time, so he will take your order fore a pitcher, fill the pitcher, cash you out, before waiting on another customer. Maybe that's just how it is, I'm just used to more of a fast pace at the bar. I spoke to the person taking orders for food at least three times before he responded. And he look like the manager... didn't expect the food to be good, but damn dude, don't take it out on the customer if. You had a bad day. read more

If I could give this 0 stars I would . Terrible place to have a party . Overpriced to begin with and the "game cards " for the kids are on limited games . Mostly shooting and racing games . You could use about 5 different machines with those game cards so it's not worth it . Also the wings were terrible and we ordered fries but they didn't have ketchup. I took my son and nephew here yesterday and spent $43 for them to play video games. Most of the games take 8 credits. The boys were done playing in less than 30 mins. It was a huge waste of money. They both earned around 500 points to buy a bunch of junk I could have taken them to 5 below and purchased for a lot less than $43!! Live and learn, I will not be going back there. read more

His name is Zach he was super nice We were having some issues when we were bowling and he went above and beyond to make things right for us. He defines the reason we keep coming back to round 1. If you are looking for a place to bowl, this is a good place to go. If you are looking for anything else, go somewhere else. The customer service at this place was extremely average at best. There were a couple red flags that threw me off about this place. The first red flag was the fact that they had a list of credit cards that they didn't accept. I can understand some places don't take American Express but how do you not take a capital one card and a fifth third bank card? Flag number two was the fact that that was an Aurora police officer walking around and many security guards. What kind of establishment are you running if you need that much security around? This gave me a negative feeling about this place. Third red flag it took for ever to get food. This place to take a hint from the other bowling places and have servers at each lane. I didn't see all of the negativity from past reviews when we went today. Facility was clean and the food prep went smoothly. I would have gave them 5 stars, but you could tell they were short staffed. Even though you wouldn't know right off, because it was not very busy, but if it was, I could see them being overwhelmed. Some games out of order, but to be expected I guess with the volume they have here. They were out of coke for over an hour because of staffing to change it out, but a minor thing. Bathrooms clean, staff was helpful, overall good experience. But be warned it is kind of pricey,but you get what you pay for. We will be back. read more

When we went to play arcade games, half of the games were down and there seemed to not be enough staff to help out. Additionally, when we went downstairs to bowl, our lane was broken and they wouldn't refund when they couldn't move our lane. Then the service staff kept leaving us and not helping to fix the lane. Additionally, no service staff came to ask if we wanted food and when approaching the counter to order, a waitress was eating fries. Very unprofessional. Very disappointed. I am a single mother of 3, and to celebrate one of my daughter's release from juvie, I decided I would treat all of them to a fun time at Round 1. We started with bowling and I stuck my fingers in one of the bowling balls. I swear to god there were stuffed fried mozzarella sticks in each finger hole (I checked the menu later and they don't even serve that). Later, one of my kids wanted a drink so I gave her money for one of the vending machines and she comes back with a bud light can and a cigarette like wtf. And the worst part of all, the manager. I won a cat from one of the machines but it got stuck near the bottom and wouldn't fall into the drop off. So I went to talk to the manager and before I start telling him my problem he starts going on and on about how if you're a guy and you like traps that means you're gay? But once I told him my problem he said he couldn't help me and that I had to get it myself. My arms weren't long enough to reach though and when I look over, there he is laughing at me. So whatever, if you have long arms there's a free cat plushie waiting for you. read more

Bowling is Overpriced, and the customer service is terrible! Waited 25 min at the bar for a drink and a slice of pizza. The staff has terrible attitudes and most of them are doing multiple jobs at once. The bowling games took forever due to the balls being stuck multiple times and having to wait a long time for someone to fix it. I will not be returning, much rather go to park side lanes. read more

Played their machines where u try to grab a doll with the claw a drop it in the hole. After repeated attempts I asked a worker how it works obviously Im doing it wrong. They said its set up to PUSH the toy down off the small furry posts. Tried that about 4 times, toy got stuck. Called employee over, she just repositioned the doll and said try again. For one, its impossible the claw doesnt go far enough over. Two, if I was stuck because of your placement of the toy then why is that my problem? The manager came over and said he couldnt help me but the district manager could. Youre the manager. Why do you need someone else to help you do your job? I live nearby and have gone for pool a couple of times and the place was nice. I decided to go for the arcade and bowling today since I knew the prices were decent. The arcade had several broken games to which the associate seemed less than happy to give me my credits back for. The token rewards were low for what you pay compared to other arcades around. Onto bowling, I paid for a 90 minute session and shoe rental. Two frames in, the lane was put on pause due to a stuck pin. After 20 minutes, I decided to go back for a refund as I didn't have time to switch. I was told that I would not receive my money back for the shoe rentals, but only the 90 minute session. Very disappointed, will not be back here for pool either. read more
