They make a MEAN mangonada here! Seriously, I've tried other La Michoacana's and they are not all created equal. I love that I can mix different ice cream inside the mangonada; I had pineapple and mango last time and it was the best thing ever on a triple digit day. The staff here is great and they're super friendly. The inside is spacious and clean. Some of the ice cream flavors seemed watered down, but they are always willing to let you sample flavors before you make your selection. There's A LOT of flavors to choose from, so I'm sure you will find one you love. They also have passion fruit ice cream, which is the best! While we were waiting to pick up our dinner at a nearby restaurant, we had dessert first: strawberry cheesecake ice cream. Lately this has been one of their best sellers. This ice cream was incredibly creamy and smooth. The strawberry cheesecake topping was swirled into the ice cream and had a fair amount of real strawberry bites. Also stirred into the ice cream were cubes of cheesecake - still cubed, still firm and full of rich cheesecake flavor. This place is good if you know exactly what you want and don't ask any questions. I came in today because it had a good rating on yelp. The chocolate taste like that chalky chocolate powder stuff and the strawberry cheesecake is too salty! Why is my ice cream salty enough to give me high blood pressure? The cookies and cream is ok but I've had better at stater bros. The popsicles were ok too. The last thing I got was mango ice cream and chili. This one I'm not sure if it's good or not since I'm not familiar with it, but the employee said it was their best seller. I personally wouldn't buy it again or even finish the one I bought. So last but not least, service. The service was... quite frankly... utter garbage. And the main reason why I will never come back again. When I walked in the store, there were a couple people in there but none in line so I assumed it'd be fine to look around and ask questions. When I asked what that was she started to become less helpful but showed me a picture none the less. Since I'm not familiar with the flavor, I asked if it was spicy. She immediately was visibly upset and asked "then what do you want". My party ordered what they wanted and I just ended up getting the chili mango ice cream. Since there was more than just the mango flavor, she seemed upset that she had to tell me all of the flavors. I'd understand the attitude if I was holding up a huge line and she was the only employee working but there was no one else around except my party and there were 2 employees hiding in the back of the store talking. This place is, in my opinion, a waste of time! The only redeeming thing about this place is the popsicles, which even then wasn't amazing (They were just strawberries in vanilla ice cream). First to start off the place is so clean and open, the ladies greet me when I go in. It's never really that busy, but I usually go later in the day. For their menus they have TVs which is really nice, that was a good upgrade. The customer service is very good, their always nice and have a smile on. The items I get are very good, I never complain. Taste wonderful! As I mention the place is very clean, and I always see them moping and such. But with that, that's why I am putting 4 stars instead of 5. Going into a place for sweets and snacks, having the overpowering smell of bleach really does make the appetite go away. Clean is always the best, but maybe use products that clean without the strong smell, I use a lot of organic cleaners. That clean just as great without that over powering smell. Maybe once a week to make sure all the bacteria is killed but not everyday. It's too much. I feel like I'm in my bathroom after cleaning it lol. My go to at any Michoacana Ice Cream parlor is Nuez or Pistacio. We really use to enjoy this place, but with the recent change in ownership the quality and customer service has declined. They use to be really great at greeting people and one scoop of ice cream was actually 1 1/2 scoops and you could actually get two different flavors. The cups for ice cream also got smaller. They didn't have Nuez the last time I went so I got pistachio. This time the pistachio ice cream wasn't filled with a ton of pistachios and it wasn't as creamy as it had been before the change in ownership. Tasted more watered. Having said that, I really dig this place. I came here a few days ago not knowing what to expect. When I walked in the first thing I noticed is that it was PACKED. The second thing I noticed was that I couldn't understand (most of) what's on the signs. That's not a slight on the place, merely an observation. The guy behind the counter who helped me (manager or owner, I'm not sure which) was VERY friendly and helpful. He answered questions about what flavors were what, let me have samples, and made suggestions. Even the customers were nice and helping me with the flavors. Where the fuck does that ever happen!?
