    Hot Pretzel
    Jackie K.

Came here for a casual birthday dinner for a friend. He enjoyed his burger and truffle Parmesan fries. I was a little annoyed they charged extra for those fries given the two sets of fries are the same price on the menu. But whatever. The music was a tiny bit loud to talk. The pretzel was hot and came with cheese dip. The surprise hit was the cornbread. Sweet and soft.

For our last night in NYC, we wanted something 'easy' and outdoors since the weather was gorgeous. Mom was craving bbq so here we landed. We had some happy hour drinks and hubs and I split the charred half chicken with harissa. It was fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. Definitely order this one. Mom enjoyed her pulled pork sandwich as well. It was a bit wobbly sitting on the pavers but we managed. Service was very good and the place was PACKED. Seems super popular with the after work crowd.

My guest and I arrived at Route 66 for a late lunch after spending the day at the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. First, all the staff was most attentive. Even the trainee was very good at making sure we were enjoying our visit. She seemed like she was a seasoned professional. Next, the choice of either sitting inside or outside was next. We sat inside at a table near the window. Inside had good music creating a nice atmosphere. Easy to have a conversation. Onto the main event. We shared the watermelon and feta salad with mint and a just a little bit too much Balsamic dressing on it. Overall it was ok. My guest ordered the pulled pork plate with a side of red cabbage coleslaw. I took the mixed green salad that came with it. I ordered the Classic Route 66 burger medium, cooked to perfection complimented by julienne fries. We both enjoyed the pickle chips that came with our meals. The food met expectations. On the way out, I did compliment to the manager how good the staff was while engaging a conversation about recovering post pandemic. If down in FiDi, I highly recommend enjoying some drinks and food at Route 66.

My ideal game spot! They have all the fun games i love: pac man, basketball, life-size connect 4, skee-ball, life-size jenga, foosball, and more Fantastic beer menu: lots of NY local + US craft beers. Our bartender was super sweet! Was basically empty on a Sunday afternoon which was perfect for me and my boyfriend as we got the upstairs to ourselves to hang out! The games are card or quarters only and there's a jukebox of sorts where you can pay to play (and we sure did bop some Pooh Shiesty lol). There is a super cute booth downstairs tucked away into a corner with another life-size jenga game! The bathroom upstairs is also hella cute (and photo-worthy for you Instagram fiends) Would definitely return for another fun game day and to try some of the classic American food offerings

Route 66 to the rescue! Where so many restaurants in the area (next door) fell short on customer service, the staff at Route 66 really picked up my spirit. I was greeted at the door with a warm welcome from a nice gentleman who actually seemed to appear from thin air like he was there specifically to greet me lol! It seems silly but as a person who comes from a customer service background it really feels good when people give you good energy. From the host, to the bus person, to the bartender, we really enjoyed ourselves. Young people if you're wondering if this place is aesthetic enough, IT IS! Neon lights, holiday decor, vintage license plates, the whole shabang, it's worth it. The bartender doubled as our server, it was early in the day so that was a good use of coverage, you can tell they strategize well. Our food was amazing (as pictured) we got hot wings- which were perfectly cripsy and coated. Perfect size, I am a person that really pays attention to that as I don't like Brontosaurus sized chicken wings lol. I was thoroughly pleased. On the side we got truffle parm fries, which were deliciously stuck together with parmesan. For drinks we both got peachy margaritas (we like the same taste palette lol) and they were nicely priced for the area, as well as delicious. Just the one cup packed a punch as well. I was really happy about that. I will absolutely attend again, I am already planning another visit with more people!

"Smash Burger", but it wasn't. The patties were way too big! Bread fell apart :(
    Bridget K.

Very blah! I would never choose to eat here again. I ordered a smash burger, and the patties were WAY too big to be considered a "smash burger". The meat was very pink inside and the bread fell apart as I ate it. The service was okay and the fries were decent.

Had walked by Route 66 Smokehouse a number of times and finally stopped in on an early Sunday afternoon and had a nice experience. We had the Pulled Pork Platter and the Brisket Sandwich and both were very good with the Pulled Pork probably a bit better. It was relatively quiet when we there and got to play a game of Jenga while we waited for our food. Our server Julia was also very friendly and helpful. Will be back!

Came here to scope out the place for an event. They have a nice cozy upstairs area that can be reserved for private events. It comes with seats, private bar, and many arcade style games (see pictures). The mango margarita was decent, slightly on the sweet side but not unexpected. The birria quesadilla was good but I expected more consommé. The sliced brisket sandwich was good: meat had notable smoke flavor and was tasty. Service was very fast. It's not the fanciest place, but a nice affordable spot to casually hangout and have a bite and a drink.

Terrible walmart frozen section quality food
    Kevin C.

Could've been better. Like way better. You probably wonder why Route 66 has a ton of empty seats open on a Friday night when the rest of Stone Street is packed to the rim. It's because things just could've been better here. First off there's nothing wrong with the service, the server is attentive, but the food was extremely lacking. Trust me, this was our mistake, to order food from a bar and expect it to be OK, but this was simply less than OK. The food was "Walmart Frozen Section" type of quality. The chicken tenders, the fries, the mac and cheese, these are all items that they probably just unboxed from some stouffer's frozen food kit, with the same to-go bowls that Chipotle has and served to you with a premium mark up. We also ordered a $100 margarita tower which we really should've just stuck to beer because who likes a $100 margarita tower with 60% ice, 35% sugar and 5% alcohol? To the owners of Route 66, please reconsider what you're serving to your customers, take this advice and improve your restaurant/bar!

    Awesome photo booth

Awesome date night spot or night out with friends! This place has it all: nice atmosphere, delicious drinks, good food, arcade games and a photo booth. I adored the drinks. They have something for everyone! If you're like me and need a sweet drink that won't make you sick the next day- go with The Kentucky Bourbon or The Beach drink (which comes in a pouch). The arcade games include foosball, ping pong, ski ball, basketball, pinball, shuffleboard, and a ton of board games and card games like Jenga, Uno, Connect Four, etc. The photo booth was SO COOL! Me and my friends loved it. The lighting is phenomenal (ring light) and it immediately texts you your photo. The food is pretty good. It really depends on your preferences. My friend LOVED the pulled pork sandwich, while it was below mediocre to me- they serve the BBQ sauce on the side and do not cook the meat in sauce. For me, even after I poured the BBQ sauce on the meat it was bland. No coleslaw????? Pickles??? It should come with something else on it. The pretzels appetizer was also mediocre. Two pretzel sticks and thin honey mustard sauce. The shoestring fries were great though.

    Basket of Biscuits.

***2 1/2 stars*** I think the lesson here is that I need to stop visiting these tourist traps on Stone Street, especially for sit-down meals. They're all overpriced (even by the standards of downtown Manhattan), and the food/service is never worth it. All you're getting for the extra money is the opportunity to eat on some cobblestones, which I'm sure I could easily do elsewhere. I stopped by last Friday for lunch around 1PM. It was pretty empty inside (it was a bit bustling outside on the aforementioned cobblestones, so I thought strategically it made sense to go to a quieter area where I'd be more likely to get solid service), and I easily secured a high top table just off the bar area. A positive right off the bat that's worth noting - this is the first time I can remember telling a bartender that I was just getting water in lieu of alcohol, and there was NO discernable change in their demeanor. This is a pet peeve of mine, and I'm glad Route 66 has employees who realize there's little value in looking mildly sad at the loss of a little extra money on the tab. I was pretty hungry, so I went with the Basket of Biscuits ($8) and the Pulled Pork Mac and Cheese ($18). Both were honestly pretty disappointing. The "basket" was a normal plate (why bother including Basket in the name of your dish if you don't intend to use one?) and the biscuits were unfortunately pretty dry/crumbly. I love biscuits from all over the spectrum - my all-time favorite is from Roy Rogers, which looked a lot like these, except the interior was moist and soft and the exterior had a nice crisp to it, but I can get down with super buttery ones like from Popeyes or Bojangles, or really doughy ones like at KFC. These just weren't good, and it's especially disappointing coming from an alleged BBQ place. They had a honey butter-type condiment, which was tough to apply because of the aforementioned texture, and it honestly didn't make much of a difference in terms of taste, which was bland. The Mac and Cheese was also not up to snuff. You can see from the accompanying picture that it's not very visually appealing - the random burnt topping wasn't a good look - and the pasta was a bit undercooked. The cheese was okay, but not great, also in the bland category. Personal palate-wise, I would have preferred smaller pieces of pulled pork and not quite as much, but I'm sure plenty of people are into the big hunks provided generously here. The only reason this isn't a full-on negative review is because of the service. I mentioned the personable bartender, but the service throughout the meal was excellent. As with most of the lunch options in the area, I was pretty much done within 30, 35 minutes from initial entry, which isn't bad. My proximity to the bar probably helped, but it was super easy to hail down the waitress/bartender for ordering, the check, etc. It's not hard to find BBQ restaurants in this area, and this one honestly isn't up to par in most respects. I might stop by a drink in the future, but I doubt it's commit to much beyond that.

Great service. Food is okay. Nice vibes. I did a reservation for their outdoor igloos to eat at with my boyfriend. It was very cute, with a heater in the igloo to keep warm. Comes with a complementary blanket (nothing crazy, an Ikea thinnish blanket). The reservation I made ahead of time costs $60, which covers food, tax, and tips costs. I went on a Friday and they had a happy hour going on until 7pm I believe, so my boyfriend and I ordered 2 red wines ($9 each glass) - it was pretty good! I ordered a Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich and my boyfriend ordered a Beef Brisket Sandwich. The Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich was actually a bit spicier than I thought it would be. From low to high spicy, it was a medium level spicy. Super flavorful and tender chicken. The bread for the sandwich was okay, it was a little bit on the drier end. The fries are standard, kind of tastes like McDonald's fries without the extra salt. The Beef Brisket Sandwich was also pretty good too! Just keep in mind that it can be a pretty messy sandwich to eat - as expected of bbq foods. We ended our dinner order the S'mores set which was $20 - definitely overpriced for S'mores, but it was fun for the experience for a special occasion. They had a mini fire to roast the marshmallows in. All in all, I would probably come back again for the Game Room upstairs and for a more casual eat and drink setting rather than for a romantic dinner at the igloo. The igloo experience is more like a one-time cool experience to have.

Despite that we were able to get seating. Like many BBQ places, you order at the register and they'll give you whatever is already prepare and then bring over the rest of your order at your table. Best dish by far was the Korean sticky ribs. The pulled pork sandwich wasn't great; not hot at all, just room temperature. The Vietnamese wings had good flavor but the skin is very tight (it's an order of a few whole wings, not drums and flats). Cornbread and dill pickles were great, potato salad was a bit too vinegary for me. They had the US World Cup match on, but not the audio until after they scored a goal. JP knew every single one of them by name before the afternoon was half over. Not in a performative way. We arrived on a Saturday the place was absolutely packed but we were seated within about 5 minutes. We were seated right near the smokers and it was so cool to watch them prepare each dish. The presentation here is phenomenal as is the quality of all the meat here. A fresh salad with oil was brought complimentary to the table and it was delicious. We ordered the Buffalo smoked chicken wings and Baba-Ghanoj for appetizers. The chicken wings were so tender that as you picked them up the meat literally fell off the bone! The sauce was subtle but had a nice Buffalo kick at the end. The baba-ghanoj was served cold and was perfect with a little sprinkle of salt. The fresh pitas paired perfectly with it. I'm glad I did my research on this spot as everyone recommended the fresh mint lemonade. Wow amazing and refreshing I love that it came out as a slushy like consistency. I could easily drink them all day and they're probably amazing to eat outside in the warmer months and enjoy. We each ordered the meat platters in 1lb portions which are served with fresh smoked rice that is so good and filling. I wanted the beef shank but sadly they were out and ordered the smoked beef short rib. They served everything on a platter for us which the presentation I must say is outstanding . My boyfriend ordered the smoked brisket and it was so tender and flavorful he kept saying "it's terrible you won't like it because he didn't want to share it at all LOL". We had no room for dessert but I cannot wait to return for our next dinner date night! I would definitely give it 4/5 stars. Nothing was terrible the only complaints I had is once we were seated and our order was taken our server asked if we want appetizers first which we said yes and everything came out at once. Which is fine not terrible just our table was packed and hard to eat. Additionally once our food came out it was hard to get anyone's attention for more drinks but it was no too much of an issue that it ruined the night as they were definitely way too busy and seemed to be short staffed. I definitely want to return and check out the rest of their menu. I highly recommend making the trip to Kanoon!

We ordered the brisket, it was cooked to perfection, the side dishes included salad, rice and mashed potatoes. Food tasted great. Next time we are in town we will come back and try something different from the menu.

Paterson, NJ - like many patrons, my husband came across this place via their tantalizing Instagram…read moreposts and urged us to go. They were busy at dinner time on a Sunday night. As many reviewers mentioned, no one bothered to acknowledge us when we arrived, so I flagged down a waitress who said we could sit whenever we want. We chose to sit in the airier covered outdoor area (which isn't exposed to the elements so is perfectly temperate even in cold weather). There were no instructions on how to order either - this seems like a basic customer service fail: is it that hard to slap up signage explaining 1-2-3, or for someone (anyone!) to greet you and ask if this is your first time here and walk you through the process? Anyway, I'm glad I read the reviews and checked out what we wanted to order beforehand, and asked questions at the cashier. Sure, it's not that hard, but one really shouldn't have to actively track down multiple staff for directions on where to go or how to order at a restaurant. The deal is: decide which meat(s) you want from the poster (there is no menu), place your order (sold by the pound) with the cashier, pay, go to your table, and a server will bring the food to you when it's ready. The meat is (at current writing) $45/lb with unlimited sides and soft drinks. We ordered 1 lb each of beef brisket and lamb shank (1 lb = 2 shanks), which was the perfect amount of food for us 2 hungry adults, 2 teens of modest appetite, and a toddler of negligible appetite. The meat is simply seasoned (Arab bbq style) and came out lukewarm, but is off-the-bone tender and we enjoyed them with the variety of sauces. There are four types of sides: cucumber & tomato salad (good), spring mix, saffron rice (fine but my toddler loved this), and mashed potatoes (bland). It is a well-balanced meal, not too heavy. The chefs are friendly and we watched one film a demo almost certainly for social media. He even let us taste some of what he was seasoning, though there were no pyrotechnics as I had hoped from seeing some of the reels. The service wasn't bad - not terribly proactive but not non-existent either, and we always received what we requested. They could do better with customer guidance, but now that I know what's up I'd come back for the food and would like to try some other meats next time. Meat Moot has many franchises across the Middle East and Turkey, and NJ is one of only 3 locations in the US (the other 2 being in the Midwest). Street parking only.

I've had many BBQ experiences across the states. This is by far the worst one with the driest meat…read morethat my party and I have ever tasted. Granted - we hope it was because we ordered this for delivery and that the flavor and texture changed somehow somewhere during transport. We had the brisket, pulled pork, and mac & cheese. Both of the meats were dry to the point I had to stop eating within a few bites. The mac & cheese was the better dish but it was still soupy with not a lot of macaroni in it. If I wanted to order a soup, I would have ordered a soup. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. I'll stick to Fette Sau in Williamsburg.

First off the customer service here was beyond anything I've encountered in recent memory. They're new and want to make an impression I'm sure - and it shows. Everybody made sure that we were well taken care of and everything was to our liking. We had the pork belly, gochujang wings, brisket and some drinks. Everything was great, quick to order, and delicious. Another reviewer said the gochujang wings were too spicy... Now granted I can handle my spices but I can genuinely say they were not too hot to handle at all - if you like spice. Less than habanero and more than jalapeño for reference. Games area was fun and cute and free. Nice place, good location in Astoria, great food, games and EXCEPTIONAL customer service. Hope to see more from them!
