I met my fiance at Route 92, so believe there is bias. It's a tight knit bar with a pool table smack down in the middle. Every-time I go there they seem to be doing something special for their guests. Like once there was a table with hot dogs and condiments set up while bar goers were rooting for their team on the tv screens. I went there not long ago to do engagement photos which I'm so glad they let us do while it wasn't too busy! It was during holiday season, and it was so beautifully decorated. We've had very friendly bartenders each time. Took me 2 visits to realize they have an outside area in the back, which is always nice to have when visiting a bar. What a hole in the wall bar situated here on the El Camino corridor in San Mateo. After dinner at the local hot pot, we wanted to get some drinks before the night's end. Found this place here seems like a local very small Homey yet cozy place to have a drink. It's a Friday night and not too many people here which is a plus we were able to find a couple tables for the six of us. Had a few rounds of cocktails and was on our way out for the night. Bartender was very nice and pleasant. Got our drinks in and out fast. Actually, I seen the bartender somewhere else, I come to find out she was a bartender and another local bar. I guess I go to too many bars out here. Drinks were great and fairly priced. They have one pool table TV, jukebox, and a dart board. I will have to add this place to my bars to go. "Nice spot for a brew." After a long trail run in the nearby mountains, I was ready for a brew. I normally go to Fieldworks, but I couldn't get any parking there. Here, I was able to get a parking spot right away down the side street. I did not have to walk far. They have a good selection of beer on tap, and I got a Pilsner followed by an IPA. Reasonably priced at $6.50. The crowd seems pretty friendly. There are several large flat screen tvs, and I was able to enjoy baseball and football. There is a pool table right next to the bar. They have a large outside area, but I was surprised to find they don't serve food-- just chips. I wish they had food. read more

I just wanted to do another update, well it has been a year after all since my last one and yes I still love this place . I wanna highlight the bartender Jeanette. She really remembers my name even if I've been away for awhile. It makes me feel warm inside the way she remembers me and the way she speaks. She seems like such a sweet , caring , great personality , and very cool person. She probably doesn't know this but she's probably my favorite bartender out of any bar. 1) Bartender refused service to me and my wife. We are 34 and 35. I had my Drivers License and my wife had her Polish government issued ID. Her ID has English translation of all the data. She (bartender) stated that the owner required them to request passports for non-US ids. 2) They have University of Michigan flags outside of the venue and tons of UM related items inside the place. I went to UM for grad school so naturally asked about any UM related activities. Expecting a dirty dive but was surprised to find a very open, spacious and clear neighborhood bar. 10-12 drafts including at least 1 cider - all just $4/pint! NEW OWNER - Just wanted to let you guys know a new owner had taken over the bar back in mid December so hope old reviews complaining about the old owner don't stop you from checking this place out. He is a long time bartender in the San Mateo area and always had good experiences at bars he's worked at. This is a great place to watch football on Sundays. You always know there will be a game you want to watch on with them having over 10 TVs. There's also FREE food during the football games on Sunday which you never know what its going to be, homemade tamales, chili dogs, homemade mufalatas, pulled pork, pizza, sandwiches, etc. The owner said he will probably be offering stuff for some baseball as well! They actually play hockey on TV too which is hard to get some bars to turn on for you, but its nice knowing there's a place I can watch the sharks game. Beers - great selection so far and they plan on adding to it. Denoggonizer, back in black, a bunch of craft beers like dales pale ale, sneak attack, old chub, etc. If your a beer fan your bound to find something you like. They also have great prices on them too around $4. I know people were hating on the Michigan stuff, but why? Let's be honest if you pick any bay area team your bound to offend someone. If you made it a 49ers or giants bar, A's and Raider fans don't want to go. Who honestly hates Michigan? Started coming here a year ago and been loving it since. All the bartenders are awesome and every night that I go is typically a good night. They have trivia nights which can get pretty rowdy because of all the groups of people here. Weekends are generally pretty packed too and have been getting livelier and livelier every time I go. Giants games are nutso here! When the Giants won the 2014 World Series, this place was packed, lots of people going crazy, and it was a total celebration here. The best local bar on the peninsula. It's a Cheers type environment with ultra friendly bartenders and patrons alike. Everyone one there knows each other and are very welcoming. They have a great selection of beers on tap, many of them are hard to get and you can't find anywhere else. Superb spot for sports with tons of TVs. Prior to a potentially awkward family Thanksgiving meal, Bubba & I decided to WHet our WHistles to get into the spirit. Route 92 was close to my parents place and I had heard good things about it from some of the beloved alkis in my life. Route 92 was everything we needed. Thanksgiving football was on and some of the die hard patrons had orchestrated their own Thanksgiving. Stuffing, and other staples were in crockpots on a table, and the bartender even had some Susie Cakes they would be offering later. I was impressed and my heart felt warm at the thought of a dive bar thanksgiving. The bartender was very kind, and we enjoyed some patron and a couple of nice beers on tap, forgot the name, but they seem to have a pretty good selection. There's a front and rear entrance and a patio you can smoke under. FYI, no alcohol allowed outside. I try not to use the restrooms here because there's only one for each gender and if it's packed, there will be a wait. I went there for the 1st time last Friday and had one amazing time! The bar was well taken care of and I loved shuffle board. My friends had Christina, the bartender, make me a rainbow and it was pretty much the coolest thing I have ever seen. All the ingredients are put into one container and then she poured out all the colors of the rainbow into about 6 different shot glasses! I liked this place, til the young Black haired Bar-tender was really rude to me on wed the 11th. At first I thought she was just being a joker ... Then she turned into a clear freaking passive aggressive jerk. We dropped about a hundred bucks and tipped about 30%. Still, We saw the jerk status while we played the awesome shuffle board game. My friend was in the restroom and she told me to leave and meet him outside, Stating that she doesn't let guest inside after 1:55....
