I have had all my animals stay at Rover Oaks over my 15 years in Katy. They are professional and loving with the animals, yet make them behave just like we do at home. When one our dogs had cancer and was on chemo she had to be separated from other dogs but the staff made sure she had extra cuddles and walks not to mention giving her the meds. Doggie day care is second to none! Lots of room to run and play outside with plenty of supervision. This is the only place I will take my dogs and cat. read more

This place rocks. Came here for grooming and boarding and could not be happier! My dogs tend to be a bit shy, but they came back happy, clean, and tuckered out from all the play time! Would absolutely board and groom here again. We boarded in the luxury suites, so we had frequent access to view the dogs in their rooms with webcams (through an app too! very convenient). Staff also took pictures and updated us on the dogs' behavior and wellness throughout their stay. The treats and food provided were also super high quality. I am absolutely so grateful for the staff and especially Brenda, Charlie's trainer. Being a first time dog mom to a rescued pup was very overwhelming at first. Great place to board your fur-babies! Super-attentive staff who send daily updates on your pet's well-being. We boarded our two kitties here for a few weeks while we were moving and in-between houses. We were allowed to come and visit our sweet-peas while we were in town, and received photos and updates while we were on vacation. Kitty-condos are in a room with their own ventilation system so they are not stressed by the smell of doggies in another part of the building. A little pricey, and definitely need reservations well in-advice, but well-worth the cost. Our kitties were loved and definitely cared-for while we were gone! read more

Our rescue needed help with her manners and impulse control; the 10-day class session was great! As they like to say, "A tired dog is a good dog." Sloopy loved her sessions, and we could see real progress. Our trainer was patient with our dog AND with us (we have trouble with consistency and follow through). I took my puppy to the 7-week training they offer. It was a total waste of time. Not only were the instructions not clear but on the day of the test all dogs had to do a second round and repeat some of the items on the training list, some of the dogs got it right on the first try but did not on the second. They failed most of the puppies in the class even the puppy who we all thought did an outstanding job and one of the two dogs that passed the AKC test belonged to someone works there and her dog clearly failed the first time. We've used Rover Oaks for boarding, training, grooming and daycare and we (and her) are always super happy when we drop her off knowing that she will be cared for, pampered and spoilt rotten during her stay and that she will always return to us super tired and happy. In fact, this is the only place we trust with our little girl when we are out of town as Rover Oaks treats each pet in their care as if they are part of their family. Our little girl LOVES Rover Oaks so much that we reverse commute once a week to drop her off at daycare and let her run her little heart out with all her doggy friends. Daycare is held outside so there is plenty of space to roam and play, dogs groups are sorted by personality and size and they maintain a ratio of one doggy daycare councilor to every 12 dogs which means your pooch will get plenty of playtime, love and supervision. Yes, its not the cheapest place to board your pet but hey, you get what you pay for when it comes to pet care, so if you consider your pet to be a family member and if piece of mind is priceless to you, Rover Oaks is worth every cent and is the only place (in my opinion) to send your baby. read more

We picked up our happy one year old Golden from here after a long weekend last week. After paying the $300 dollar bill they brought out our sick and hurting puppy with huge raw spots on his neck.We had received no call nor had they mentioned a problem until the handler brought him out. I do not think he could have hurt himself like this if he had received the care, special play times, and coddling we paid for. He is better now after seeing the vet and a week of antibiotics. read more

My chihuahua stayed here for 10 days and was very spunky and playful when I picked her up. The staff is very friendly and professional. I left a voicemail to check on her and the staff called me right back with a status report. It's a little pricey but at least I was given a military discount! My mom and I have used this place twice in the past. The first we had used this place, we had no problems and the process went smoothly. We felt the facility looked clean on the outside, though the downside is that there are no cameras. The second time we came around, my mom's dog had contracted kennel cough. They said they had monitored her and she only had one cough, but she was coughing a lot when my boyfriend had picked her up. I'm still irked that they should have called me that morning, but management was kind enough to handle the situation after we had to take my mom's dog to the vet. I wish they had cameras for us to monitor our pooches like other facilities, which I don't think would be bad at all, considering it won't cause any problems for the dog. It'll also make us feel better about what is happening. I can only go on what they say. read more

I had my lab-mix and shih tuz here for about 4 days May 2011. I got them the extra large kennel in the regular kennel room. We called regularly and they let us know how they were doing. I saw no indication that they were not taken care of. They even separated them during feeding which is how we do it at home. I have had other family members kennel their dogs here as well without any issues. I would do so again. Only complaint, when I called around Thanksgiving the reservation staff was very rude and told me I should have known that people book in the summer to stay at there kennel for holidays. How was I supposed to know? I only did it a few weeks early when they stayed in May. read more

I've boarded my corgi at Rover Oaks Pet Resort in Katy, TX about four times and I'm very pleased with their services. I feel safe entrusting my dog in their care. Here's why: 1) They have a professional and friendly staff. Every person I've dealt with their was friendly and good with the animals. They return phone calls even (something I've seen other boarders fail to do), actually care about animals, and seem very genuine. 2) You can customize your pet's stay in regards to how much attention/play time they receive and where they sleep (they can even have their own little room). Overall, for me it's about trust. They might be a little bit more expensive than other places, but it's well worth it because I know my dog is in good hands. read more

We have been using rover oaks for many years. We used the vet initially and never felt like our dog was well cared for. Not the case here. The feeling that we can leave town and not have to worry about our animals is worth the higher cost. If I could give minus stars I would. Had to give one star so it would post. The training at this place sucks. Specifically, the trainer named Sam. Once she got my money, I never heard from her again. Despite more than one email and phone calls with questions. We showed up for puppy class and were not allowed in because we hadn't carried our almost 40 pound German Shepherd puppy in. I've been using rover oaks for daycare and boarding since I move to Texas 9 yrs ago and so happens that's when they opened up. At one point I had 6 dogs from Newfoundlands down to a Yorkie. I can't say enough about the care and attention they give each and every dog ( I especially watch when it isn't mine and they treat all like it's their best friend. ) To the person complaining about kennel cough... Rover oaks is really strict about all dogs maintaining all shots. In fact they ask for some shots that lesser quality establishments don't. They do everything in their power to make sure it's clean and healthy environment. They can't guarantee just like the human flu shot.... People still get the flu.? My border terrier shakes with excitement when he sees he's going to daycare. I jokingly said don't treat them so well ha! Seemed like a nice place from reviews, having just moved back to the Katy area. The attitude over the phone and once I got in was very much as if they didn't need me or my pet. Lots of airy conversations and "I don't know about that", then when I arrived they required a vaccine that other vets don't. Not a problem as this is a health concern, but when they brought it up in the chaos of my first time in and my puppy is barking I was left just standing there with no reply of what to do next. Unfortunately I won't be back to try even if I did get the vaccine for my dog, the uncomfortable feeling of just standing there while they offered up no words and starred uncomfortably at me as if I was this trash not welcome in their doors is enough to drive across the city to another groomer and pay them $65 for my 10lb dog. read more

I hate to write this. We have boarded many times and done lots of training at Katy and the Astrodome area location. I thought RO was the best - you know they're not rated #1 anymore - here's one reason - and I can not believe they would do this to two wagging dogs today so happy to be there: This is a hard one to write and never thought I in a million years but maybe something changed. We have going to Rover Oaks since 2009. Our dogs LOVE Rover Oaks - they are so happy to go - I took pictures because my wife loves to post about RO on Facebook and how much the dogs love it. We thought - until today - that were dog people too. My wife is out of town and we wanted the dogs to be able to play because they have so much fun there. We have boarded there many times (it is at least 150.00 per night with all the bells and whistles but we're nuts about dogs and we'd pay 350.00) and most importantly the dogs are so happy. Since my wife is gone I had called yesterday to see about dropping off for daycare. They haven't been for a while so they must be re-evaluated which is OK - I understand. That is AKA as a way to charge you a fee to say "OK yes I know they come here and stay and they've done daycare many times especially since 2011" but whatever - we'll pay. They needed a booster one on vaccine. I told the girl - M- I would go yesterday late and get the shot so they could come today. I went ahead and asked the to fax and just in case brought a hard copy. We get there around 11:00. I had crisis after crisis at work and I had said "we're going to go" so dogs were so excited. When we got there they wanted to go so bad they were pulling "PLEASE LET US GO PLAY" so I walk in and say "so sorry - I had an appointment I don't know if it was morning or not but if you don't mind could we let them get their eval and play and we'll come back Thursday and Friday for daycare. First off the front desk say "actually we don't have the vaccines" and I said "oh no big deal - just in case I have the hard copy" again I was apologizing and saying they're so happy and they were just crazy happy to be there. Then I got this vibe. The front desk says "well - we usually do between 7-9 or whatever it was" and I said "ok - I am so sorry but if we have to leave" So the dogs see it and they wagging their tails and saying "PLEASE LET US GO PLAY" and the front desk walks back to confirm or "check with" M to see if it would be OK. I'm thinking OK - I owe these people and I will tell them thank you. She walks walk and says "we can't do it today - should have been here earlier but we can book Thursday and I can do ahead and get your hard copies of vaccines now." I am in a state of shock and I''m like "OK - let me take them back to the car and start it and I'll be back." I couldn't believe. Rover Oaks Katy isn't close to anything except Katy. I drove from the Galleria area. Then I remembered one other time RO blew me off (and I let it slide) and took them to a place at I won't mention but if you were to see another very highly (and now actually highest - for a reason I may add) rated place that went out of there way - for no reason - we had no history with them - they're just nice people. I called MPR and didn't say anything other than "hey we boarded there last November (not that it would have anything to do with RO blowing me off then but yet I came back) and needed to see if I could possibly get my dogs into daycare and I know they made need an eval - etc. I said when do you do that "they said - anytime - they're in daycare all day - just bring them in and it is really no big deal" and I said "can I bring them right now?" They said "anytime means anytime - come on." So I went back in and told the girl that I wanted to cancel and I was very sorry because I didn't realize that they were so busy and I really hated to bother them. I mentioned that I would take them to MPR and we could cancel and didn't realize how busy and was very sorry for even popping in when I did (at 11 something am). She said "we we have them for Thursday now " and I just said " no - that's OK - you must so busy that it might be too much but thank you anyway and I really want to thank you for trying to get us in today. Ask yourself - would DOG PEOPLE see those dogs so happy wagging their tails wanting to play and just send them away? What I didn't have room for on another review - I was still in shock and thought "well maybe someone will call to apologize and I would think they would " but you know what? Nothing. My 4 month old Australian cattle dog puppy only has been to puppy play school for 2 days, but I already am so impressed. His trainers have been so nice and didn't judge him at all when he came to school growling and peeing from fear on the first day. In just a day, they transformed him into being a more confident puppy. He also comes home absolutely exhausted and hasn't play bitten me or jumped on me once since, which was a huge challenge to break. I'm so excited to see his progress! He also made so many new puppy friends, and he used to be so scared of other dogs. I definitely think it's worth the money if you're dealing with a nervous, fearful puppy since you don't want it to get to the point of aggression. The staff here is so rude the ladies at the front turned their noses up at me when I walked in and then all but flat out accused me of forging documents for cat vaccinations. Who does that?! I was a little anxious since we've been having family sit for us but the gang at Rover came through! Our boy was a little stressed but he was in good spirits when we picked up and I could tell he had been eating well. I called at 10:30 in the morning to see if they had room today to groom my two year old puppy. They asked me how soon I could get there and I said 15-20 minutes. So they said they could get her in. At 4:10 I got a call saying that she was too aggressive to bathe. My dog has been groomed on numerous occasions by numerous groomers and I have never been told that she's anything but sweet. I would like to know why it took them 5 hours to call me and what they did to her in that time to make her aggressive? I do not recommend Rover Oaks for grooming because of my personal experience. After picking her up the staff was very defensive and I find this very offensive being that no one I spoke to even directly handled my dog. (I would like to rate them with zero stars but it won't let me). read more

This is the only place I've taken my two yorkies for boarding and the only place I ever plan on taking them while we live in Houston! They've done day care several times and boarded on three different occasions. I live inside the 610 loop but drive out to Katy because of the quality of service here. LOVES: 1) Clean and spacious facility - the little dogs are separated from the big and have a ton of outdoor space to run around. 2) The people - they clearly hire people that love animals, and it's an extra bonus for me that the day care supervisor has several yorkies of her own! When one of my yorkies got diarrhea on a 7 night stay, we got 2 different calls from the staff letting us know what was happening and what they were doing to help. 3) The "luxury suite" option. Sure it's pricey, but for 2 dogs that are 6 pounds each and get easily stressed, I don't have to worry about them not resting or barking at the other dog noises all night. 4) The report card. Yes, your puppy gets a report card on their behavior and it's adorable! 5) They wash your blankets/beds etc. Whatever you dropped off with your pet doesn't come home smelling bad. 6) Their illness policy. If your dog needs to go to the vet within a few days after returning home due to something they contracted, they offer to pay the bill up to a certain amount. Rover-Nope in my opinion. We have multiple dogs. Have tried to use ROPR for several years because I like the facility and its close. After the second visit my quiet dog came home terrified and shaking and had spent the day cowering under a chair and ignored. This was after she had passed the evaluation. I never took her back. My active boys need daycare most. One liked it, but he's really easy-going and loves everyone. My other did not. Both were approved for the small dog side. When I picked them up they were isolated from the others in the small gated area. I was not happy and neither were they - sitting in there and watching the other dogs. The staff decided to keep them together because they were more active when they were together. One of them being kept separate until he quieted down would have been fine. The next time I dropped them off & came to pick them up one had been moved to the big dog side. He was bloodied and scared and couldn't wait to see his brother and get home. We waited quite a while before returning. Circumstances at home brought me to bring one of my boys back. The appointment was made (finally - if the person who schedules is not there they say they will call back, but never do) and we dropped off Buddy. We took him to the small dog side because the last time we were there we were told there would be an intermediate group, but to drop off at the same side. The woman asked about Buddy and had him wait alone in the little covered fenced area while she checked if he should be in intermediate. She came back and said to take him thru the lobby because the drop-off locale had changed. I went into the lobby & was met by Melissa (I think) and told they couldn't take him today because he needed to be reevaluated. NO ONE told us that when we called (several times) to make an appointment. NO ONE called us back at any time to tell us different. We wasted the morning and it caused a lot of problems as I could easily have made arrangements with a better daycare. I will from now on. They do not call when they say. We were told different things by different people - they don't seem to know what is going on. I don't think they know how to evaluate or manage large groups of dogs since they keep switching them and some come home bloodied. My dogs were scared and hurt there. My Buddy, who was rescued just hours ahead of euthanasia at BARC, attended Good Manners training there with me and it helped him so much, but he is still somewhat timid going into new situations and for them to keep switching him from side to side, then to just tell us they won't take him after we are right there is unacceptable. I don't mind driving a bit more for a daycare that can do right by the dogs in their care and by the people who bring their dogs in. read more

I had paid a great deal of money over the years. For someone who works at an expensive "top of the line place" they should really be careful about who they hire.
