We both ordered half fried-chicken dinners. The waiter later told us they only had one half and one quarter available. I agreed to take the quarter portion while my husband had the half. When my meal arrived, I noticed it included a couple of extra fried wings. However, no one explained that the kitchen had substituted the wings or asked whether I was comfortable with the change. When we went to pay, our bill was $48 for two chicken dinners and two coffees, which seemed very high. When I questioned the charge, I was told that the extra wings were used to make my quarter portion equivalent to a half. I understand that restaurants sometimes need to make substitutions, but customers should be informed and given the opportunity to approve them--especially when the substitution affects the price. The lack of communication was disappointing, and the bill did not seem reasonable for what we ordered.
