I love you, Roy Rogers. Roy Rogers was the fast food restaurant that I frequented most in my youth. There was one in Merrifield off of Gallows Road less than 5 minutes from my house in Vienna. The Gold Rush chicken sandwich is a classic and really will hit the spot. Their fried chicken is better than KFCs and less expensive, plus their biscuits are awesome. I love the fact that their roast beef isn't that cheap crap that Arby's serves that has air pockets in it, their roast beef is real beef and is amazing with their horseradish sauce. My go-to though, is the Double R Bar burger with BBQ sauce and a holster of their delicious fries. The fixin's bar really just tops this place off, and makes it truly unique. I'll always support Roy Rogers, it is a shame that McDonalds and their disgusting food has put many of them out of business. read more

Excellent burgers and fried chicken. All of the ingredients at the Fixin's Bar looked fresh. The fries are great too. For entertainment, you get to watch people try to use the soda machine here. It has a touch screen interface and people are so confused by it, so it makes for a good laugh. The biscuits are ok.... probably my only complaint about the food. The restaurant needs to be a bit cleaner. Tables aren't being wiped down often enough. Also, when I went to throw my trash out, an employee took all of the trash cans to one corner of the restaurant to work on them all at once. That just didn't make sense to me since people all had to go to her to throw their trash out, so she couldn't put a bags in the trash cans fast enough. That was also kind of entertaining. I am writing this as I am stuck in the drive thru with my debit card held hostage. The cashier, who has given terrible service, is holding my debit card while she tries for what is now 15 minutes and counting while I sit here waiting. I believe the cashier's name is Kimberly Williams. At this point, if you cannot get your point of service system to work, you should give me my card back and I should be eating for free. This is a disgrace for a restaurant I have been visiting since the early 2000s. Please let me know what you can do to fix this. read more

Pluses - Very freindly and courteous staff. McDonalds and WalMart people should come observe and take notes. - Nice easy parking - Love the fixins bar. Old Bay seasonings go great on their fries. - Great roast beef sandwich, happy to make it well-done when I ask. I have rarely seen a fast food restaurant have such pathetic customer service. Yeah, the food was average for this type of restaurant but the staff were clueless about the menu. Not only that, but the manager has rude and seemed extremely unexperienced. I asked some questions about the menu and she just gave me some stupid response and was trying to make me leave. I really wish you could give negative stars. I've have finally decided to give up on this place. If you live in Leesburg and really want to eat at Roy's do yourself a favor and go to the other one on in the Safeway strip. Every time I have gone here, the service is slow and they get my order wrong, and the food is cold. I guess my last trip there was the last straw. I was in line about to place an order for a Double R burger. A customer had come up and said her fries were cold and handed it back to the cashier. The cashier looked at her and said nothing for about 30 seconds. He said, "Would you like some new fries?", She said yes, so he went and got new fries, but remember she had just gotten these from him, so the fries were still cold. He hands them to her, she took one fry and handed it back and said these are cold also. He then looked at her and said, "Well that's all we have in here". The customer then asked, Can you make a new batch? Uhhhhhhhh, I guess I can ask. Hey can you make some new fries, I think these are cold. Now while the new fries are being made, I place my order for a Double R combo. Out comes my burger but the fries are still being made. The cashier goes and put the cold fries on my tray. I didn't believe it. I said to him, these are the cold ones. I want the new hot ones. I then hear. That's all we have. I just took my burger and drink and left. Apparently this is the "bad" Roy Rogers location in Leesburg. However it is right on Route 7, which scores big simply due to location. I go to West Virginia about once a year and when I do this is a must stop. Nostalgia and fried chicken are a great combination. RR are now rare gems. Skip it. We have been here twice recently when they have run out of food- seriously- run out of roast beef, BBQ sauce, etc. Manager was extremely rude to the customers waiting for the roast beef, stating very unpleasantly that "it's raw so I can't feed it to you." I know it's hard to staff a fast food place, but the people working there seemed utterly shocked that they would be busy at 6 on a Friday night. If I'm in the mood for a crappy burger and fries again I'll just hit McDonald's. read more

I have been coming to this Roy Rogers for a few years, I live in great falls and so it is a 30-45 minute trek to get here. Today I was utterly disappointed by the service I received from Debbie running the cash register. She was rude and dismissive with noone being in the restaurant, Ive never experienced this here. This is coming from someone that never really writes reviews unless something really impressed them. Considering this is fast food, the food isn't really the first reason I give this place high praise. The service is what made the meal good. We came by late at night when the employees are almost done and usually just waiting to go home. I hope the store manager reads this because the employees were so kind to us that this was our first visit to Roy Rogers ever, but we will be returning to this location in the future. There are better Roys than this one. They did just recently do some remodeling so the dining area isn't as beat down as it used to be. Unfortunately, this store does tend to send out food that is cold. They need to get a handle on quality each and every time. If the fries have sat around too long, they need to go into the dumpster. Don't keep trying to serve them. Same goes for the hamburger patties. Consistency and a low tolerance for food wastage seems to be the 2 biggest problems at this particular unit. read more

Thursday is family night here. With games and family appropriate videos playing, usually some kind of drawing or crafting to do also. We have been going pretty regularly for almost a year. Carey is always amazing. Tonight we went and it was extremely disappointing. No video. No games. No other fun. We asked for these items and were told we could not have them because a chorus was going to sing a couple songs between 7-8. Well this was 6:40. We stayed until 7:25 and the chorus never sang. The rewards system wouldn't register our account. The cashier refused to get help. So we did not receive the rewards or discount due from the app. The soda machine was out of a majority of the flavors. If this was the first time we went to family night I would of never returned. We agreed to try it one more time and see if Carey bring back next week corrects the situation. read more

I remember when there was always a Roy Rogers within a few minutes from anywhere I might be. Not anymore. I take my kids to the one in Leesburg bypassing all of the larger chain fast food places. Not only due to my fond memories but for the food. I was pleased when they made a bar height seating area without changing anything else. I highly recommend the Double R Bar burger. A nice beefy tasting patty topped with thinly shaved smoked ham.....awesome. The only way to top it is anyway you want because they have a great fixing bar. It allows you as much or as little of the condiments you want (lettuce tomatoe, onion Pickles etc) I hope this chain never fades away. There are no clowns or cartoon characters here just really good food. Also if you use the drive though all you have to do is ask for a fixins to go cup and wham you can adjust your burger, roast beef or chicken just the way you like it. read more

I had a poor experience here on Father's Day. My sons and I went to the Roy Rogers on East Market Street in Leesburg, VA for dinner - we bypassed Olive Garden and Don Pablo's to opt for a Roy's roast beef combo dinner, my favorite. My sons, one 17 and one 12, ordered normal stuff. My 17 year old got a salad, and my 12 year old got a plain hamburger combo. We were waited on by the store manager, Karen. We paid full price for all three of the meals. As we were walking out, another dad was ordering with his son, who looked about the same age as my older son (maybe 16), and he obviously knew the manager, Karen, as they chatted during the order. When he mentioned the "Father's Day Special", I read the sign on the door, "Dad's Eat Free on Father's Day." I returned to the counter to inquire, as Karen was also giving her friendly customer a gift from Roy Rogers for Father's Day - some kind of Roy Rogers stylus pen out of a bag of such pens. So I waited and then asked Karen what happened to the Father's Day Special for my meal? Karen said I had to order a "kids meal" to get the special. I asked why she didn't mention that when I was ordering. She shrugged and said "Sorry about that." Looking at the other dad's 16 year old standing next to me, I asked how old kids had to be to order a kids meal. She shrugged again. Then I asked "what about the gift?" She said that comes with the "special." Really?! Since my sons were both older than 12, I didn't think it right to order a kids meal for them, even if we knew ahead of time. But the manager should have known better than to stiff a customer on Father's Day. I find the whole situation, and the silliness of "Roy's Faux Father's Day Special" to be the most bitter meal I ever ate at a Roy's restaurant. My son's ordered a regular meal instead of a kid's meal - so what? Isn't that more honest? Does that make me "NOT" a "Father" at Roy's? Additionally, I found the manager's disinterested handling of the situation, and her obvious favor to a "friend" (the other customer) to be rather rude. I can honestly say, I've never been so disappointed in a simple meal. Don't get me wrong - the food was great (as always). But the service, by the manager, was disappointing. If you want to add some unnecessary frustration to your Father's Day, just head to Roy Roger's on East Market Street in Leesburg next year. But if you want actual customer service, look elsewhere. read more

Great customer service, delicious, HOT, fresh chicken strips made of breast meat (not shaped + formed like McNuggets). I hadn't been to this Roy Rogers in probably 10 years (I used to go to the gym across the street, and I made RR off-limits before or after my workouts). I wanted a decent dinner that wouldn't be 100% junk food. It dawned on me that RR always had good chicken BITD (remember Pappy Parker?), so went through the drive-thru and got a 20-piece chicken strips and a large cole slaw. The cashier, Carey, was so friendly and helpful. At first, I ordered 2 10-piece chicken strips. Carey told me that if I ordered a 20-piece (not on the drive-thru menu), I would save money. Awesome guy! Then he asked if it were okay if they made them fresh; I would have to wait 7 minutes. I was okay with that! Before I left to pull into the lot, Carey asked if I'd like something to drink while I was waiting, on the house, because RR was making me wait for me food. I mean, this turned into a really pleasant experience! OH: the chicken was HOT, lightly-breaded, fresh, and a huge hit with my family (and with ME)! And the cole slaw was just like I remembered it from the old 1970s Big Boy days (both RR and BB used to be owned by Marriott). Thanks Carey + Roy Rogers! You're back on my radar! read more

Ordered 4 meals at drive through, waited literally 20 minutes at the window for food. 3 employees putting together the meals looked like they were assembling a jigsaw puzzle. Kept asking me what I ordered. One meal missing. Just got it here at the 28 minute mark. Insane. All we ordered was chicken tenders and kids burgers and Mac and Cheese. Never again! Today I was lucky enough to spend the lunch hour along with a coworker at Roy's located on 540 E Market street, and as always was overwhelmed, yet not surprised, by the top notch service, and delicious food. When we arrived we were greeted by the cashier Elizabeth, who ways nice as could be. She took our order as soon as we were ready, and had our food to us in the snap of a finger. After filling our drinks at the soda, we headed to the fixins bar to dress up the meal. The ketchup dispenser was empty, have no fear Pamela was near, and had that baby refilled in no time, and without anyone having to ask her. Was I surprised, not one bit, that's just another day a Roy's. They care, and that counts. Finally, we got to sit down and eat, and let me tell you Roy's knocked it out of the park once again. From the crisp fried chicken, to the piping hot pillowy soft biscuit, it was just what the doctor order. Roy never ceases to amaze, and that's why I keep going back. read more
