    oceanfront room view
    Julie Ying X.

I stayed here in a oceanfront room for a long weekend trip. The pros: convenient location to town and beach, free breakfast, comfortable bed, clean rooms, great outdoor heated pool. The cons: outdated rooms, non-existent or rude staff at breakfast and front desk, very small parking lots, slow wifi. For me, the pros outweighed cons but I only care about the convenient location since it was so easy to walk to town and it's right on the beach.

Came here for a long weekend at the end of the September (Sunday to Tuesday) and got an amazing rate. Rooms have been updated to be pretty modern for the most part and everything feels clean. Small range to cook on if you so choose and a mini fridge as well as a sink in case you want to do any cooking in the room. Breakfast is complimentary, it might not be anything to write home to mom about, but it's certainly better than your typical continental buffet, I recommend the Belgian waffle. Staff was nothing but pleasant and helped us with exceptional service everyday that we were there. The hotel is walking distance to a ton of shops and restaurants in town and is located right on the beach, so it doesn't get much better than that. We had stayed on the second floor and some of the boards while walking around on the balcony/walkways felt a tad loose but were covered up carpet so it wasn't easy to see. A few extra screws and some new boards would go a long way there. Also only one ice machine at the opposite end of the hotel. Overall a nice experience and would be glad to comeback here on our next stay in Montauk.

    The wall outlets near nothing.

The reservation was wrong. We reserved a deluxe room with Ocean view first floor near the handicapped ramp for 4 nights. We arrived they had us on second floor. After much haggling they got us room with pool views 2 flights of stairs supposedly on first floor not 4 nights 3 nights. Room only has 2 wall outlets on same wall. No Ocean view will never book this shitty resort. We have been loyal patrons for years and will never return to this place again,or recommend it . I stand corrected found another outlet hidden by one of the beds unless. Pickedup phone to speak to front office dead. Called on cell phone they phone not working no help Our new room was to have ocean view and pool views only umbrellas and people passing right by our door. You could see the ocean if you looked over the pool umbrellas

This is the view from my balcony

This is a motel-style beachfront rental, closer to the ocean than any other in the area. It is not fancy, but the room had everything we needed including a stove top, pots, pans, dishes, cups, glasses, dish soap, shampoo, conditioners and two queen size beds. I was lucky enough to have a first floor so I didn't have to climb up a staircase, and I had direct access to the beach from my balcony. Just 5 steps down and I had my own umbrella and two chairs. In my unit 89, I was also next to the pool which was really convenient for the kids. It was so incredibly convenient to have direct access to the beach as we did, and a place for all our beach toys.

    Microwave pizza maybe?

Convenient location - good off-season rates. 2 ladies at the front. One is as sweet as can be. The other is the rudest person I have ever met. Gray & blonde hair. Miserable person. We booked our room with a gift card we received for our wedding over the phone and got a confirmation that we were all set. When we arrive, both ladies on the phone and who we checked in with honored the gift card. The one lady said we need a physical printout of the gift card so we were billed in full on our credit card. Makes no sense why a physical copy is needed especially after we were told we didn't need it. Can we make photo copies of the gift cards and use them numerous times if the gift card # is meaningless? Anyways room was disgusting when we got there... food in draws rotting, Valentine's Day gift in another draw, ripped paper on the floor, ohh and a washed out pen** that may have been spray painted on the bathroom door I am not sure if I can post that pic here. Honestly was a good stay and had an amazing weekend. Downside was the miserable lady for 6 minutes of encountering her, paying full price, and having s dirty room.

Starting with the room, the size was good, but it could have been cleaner. I noticed some dust and dirt in the corners, and the room felt like it could use an update. The coffee machine looked older and wasn't very clean, the refrigerator wasn't working properly, and there wasn't an ice machine nearby--you have to call the front desk for ice. At night, the room wasn't very soundproof. You can hear footsteps from the room above, along with other noises, so if you're a light sleeper, it's something to keep in mind. On the weekend, the hotel was lively because of a wedding and the nightclub. There was music until around midnight, and when guests left, the noise from the cars made it difficult to get a full night's sleep. The food and drinks were very good, although they were on the expensive side. I was happy with the quality of the dining experience. Most of the staff were fine, though I noticed a few employees who seemed less welcoming. Thankfully, everyone I interacted with was polite. The overall atmosphere was the highlight of my stay. The property has a beautiful, relaxing vibe with a classy crowd, and I especially loved the morning yoga classes. I spent about $5,000 for a two-night stay, so I expected a more luxurious room experience. Mine was one of the more affordable room categories, and it didn't feel especially upscale for the price. Next time, I would probably visit for the food, drinks, beach, or spa day pass instead of staying overnight. If you're looking for a lively resort with plenty of events and activities, this is a great choice. If you're looking for a very quiet hotel, you may want to consider other options.

Upon arrival, was notified that the pool was out of service because the heater went down. They said I should have received a call. I didn't. After learning this, we figured we would spend most of our time in the hot tubs. Turns out, the heater went down for those also didn't work. The pool and the hot tubs were basically polar plunges. We booked a corner ocean view with a large balcony. The room itself was nice. Large, spacious and a wonderful shower with very nice water pressure. However, the room had ants. And a lot of them. I wish I took pictures. For a newly renovated property, you would think the HVAC systems would have been upgraded. But no. The heating in the room was so loud we actually had to turn it off in the middle of the night because it prevented us from sleeping. This property as a whole puts A-LOT of money on the esthetics. The lighting it beautiful, the wall decor is gorgeous, but it's the the things you don't see easily that need help. Ripped cushions, rotting wood on the patio, ants, poor HVAC, and clearly not a 24/7 on call pool repair for a resort that in the summer time charges $1500 a night for a basic room. Again, you book a winter getaway at a place like this to enjoy the pool and spa. When it's not working properly it just ruins the entire trip and there is no point in staying there. A seperate review of the restaurant was already posted by me. The restaurant was the saving grace. But I absolutely will not stay at this property again.

Okay, people don't travel to watch TV, but you just want things to work and to relax, and constantly calling the staff to fix the TV and having them in your room failing to fix the TV is not relaxing. Make sure major items in the rooms are working, or have spares and replace them. Period. This place was then too cheap to offer real recompense and gave my family member some awful ski cap that probably cost about 30 cents. Just unacceptable at this price point.

The rooms are on the smaller side, but comfortable. The bed linens are like you are sleeping on a cloud. You can control the air conditioning to your liking. The room has very little in the way of amenities - free water, sparkling water, popcorn, hairnets, and makeup remover. No bath robe or slippers, so be sure to bring your own. The pool is very small but it does go up to 8 feet, which is nice. The cafe/restaurant on the premises is awesome. We loved all of the baked goods including the ham and cheese miso scone, the croissants, and the cookies. This area of the beach was quiet during the week. Fun place to sun bathe, watch the surfers, and really relax. While we were at Marram, I also took advantage of one of their free meditation sessions. If you're there while Raymond is doing the meditation, definitely check it out! It was a very relaxing way to kick off our stay. The walls are hilariously thin, but nothing that we weren't able to sleep through. Our room faced the courtyard and I was worried that it would be too loud at night, but it seems like they're serious about enforcing the quiet hours, which is nice. If you're looking for five star accommodations, this is not it. No room service, no concierge and very little available as far as food and beverage service. This place has been remodeled into a serene, minimalist getaway with very few distractions from the outside world. No TV's in the rooms and no complimentary newspaper; both of which make this the perfect escape. Get a room with a view of the ocean and you'll enjoy the scenery and the sounds. Unplug and enjoy the quiet environment. Read a book. Don't laugh, but the soap and shampoo make you smell like vacation. Take advantage of the heated pool and beach chairs and walk into town for meals and cocktails. Everything in Montauk is only a few minutes away by car. I would suggest trying to plan your stay in the slower part of the season to avoid the influx of the Instagram influenced city folk. As I mentioned, the food and beverage were the only areas that could use some help. It's daylight by 5am but the restaurant doesn't open until 8am, so you'll have to hike into town for coffee. Or sleep late. Coffee was great though. Breakfast was also minimalist but really amazing; simple food done well. 4-5 savory selections and a great assortment of pastries. The lunch / dinner service was puzzling so we avoided it (literally a protein with sides for $45 and the menu was not published). Cocktails were on point; pricey, but you're in the Hamptons so it's expected that every cocktail is $20. It would have been cool if they had some "pool food" or "beach food." I don't do the Yelp thing often but figured I would share my thoughts for posterity. I'm on the fence about going back to Marram. On one hand, we already have our room picked out for the next visit. On the other hand I don't think I can ever recreate such an amazing and relaxing vacation. We'll see.

On a Sunday morning during the month of July, even with a relatively quiet dining room, the service was terrible. We had to run down a server just for water and coffee. The coffee, if you can call it that, is watered down and tasteless. We asked for cream and sugar, none came, so we had to go get it ourselves from the kitchen. Bizarre. The banana bread, which is $16, is literally one slice with fresh bananas. OK, so I am fine with paying higher prices for the location, but $16 for one slice of banana bread? Give me a break. Turkey sausage patties are literally 1 mm thick. The avocado toast, which was a very light spread of avocado on toasted bread, was extremely spicy. Totally fine with tortilla chips for a dinner, but certainly not for a breakfast entrée. The smoked salmon came with cucumbers, which had a very weird medicinal taste. The only person happy with their breakfast had ordered the scrambled eggs. Tough to mess that up. One of our party asked for an over easy egg on the side, and they wouldn't do it. Asked for a fruit basket, but it never came. Service and quality of food were both extremely disappointing. The only redeeming quality is the location. Don't come here and spare yourself to disappointment.
