We were visiting the area and someone picked this place ratings looked good and the decor is nice but it all went south from there. We showed up in stages but the bartender must have been having a bad day he would get one drink order at a time is what my peeps told me, I thought they were joking. We ordered 2 Bloody Marys and one didn't taste like it had any alcohol in it so we mixed the 2 together. The food came out real slow and kind of haphazardly. I will say the hummus was good. The menu is American and Indian so I was excited. Some people's burgers were way over done and after the food all came out, I was informed they were all out of Dahl Makhani Which was disappointing. So I asked for Chana masala and after a while they came and told me that they were out of that too, so I settled for a black and blue burger with tots. My burger came and thankfully it wasn't overdone and it came with fries. Now the last 2 at the table are still waiting for their burgers none too happy. As I finish my Bloody Mary I notice a 1 1/2 inch crack in my glass which I take up to the bartender and let him know, he didn't say anything. Now in the meantime 2 people at the table are saying the chicken Caesar wrap they ordered didn't taste right and opened it up to find what looked like curried chicken chunks that were rinsed off inside the wrap. A while later I order to Kona's for my friend and I, a while later he comes over to tell me they are out of Kona, so I order 2 different beers, and as I am getting down to the end of my beer there's a shard of glass. I take this up to the bars and tell the guy and show him letting him know I think I swallowed a piece and they better check the dishwasher or something. He throws the shard of glass in the garbage and walks away. The kicker 3 of us had bad stomach aches the next day. I don't know what's going on but I would avoid this place read more

Bingo on a Thursday night is a riot! The owner is so funny! Samosas are really yummy, I loved the brown sauce and the green sauce was too spicy for my liking. My friend loved her food as well. This is absolutely ridiculous!  I heard the so-called "Royal Bar-and-Grill" and "Nick's Soul Food" in Albany, Oregon were serving up some decent grub. So, like a normal person, I decided to give them a shot. I called them, not once, but multiple times over the course of several days--both phone numbers--and not a single answer. What a complete lack of professionalism. It's like they couldn't care less about their customers. But, hey, I thought maybe they were super busy, right? Fine, I checked their Facebook posts--nothing there to suggest they were closed. Still, no response. Fast forward to Friday, I'm sick of waiting around, so I drive all the way from South Salem to their location. I'm expecting to finally get a taste of what all the fuss is about. I get there, and guess what? The food truck that's supposed to be open? Completely shut down, doors locked, nothing happening. But the Royal Bar-and-Grill looks open. So, I think, "Great, maybe this is the moment!" I start walking in, only to be greeted by a handwritten sign on the door: "Closed for Valentine's." Hold on a minute--this was not posted anywhere near the earlier time I was checking. So, I ask the guy standing outside, who I recognize as Nick the so-called chef, "Are you seriously closed?" He responds, "Yeah, we've been posting about this for a month, selling $150 tickets." What?! I've been checking Facebook for THREE days, and nothing, absolutely nothing, about them being closed as in nobody else could dine there other than ticket holders. I mean it's a bar not fine dining, And when I check again on the way back, guess what? They finally post about it just an hour before I showed up with actual words saying they would be closed do all other patrons. Unbelievable!!! This is an absolute joke. You can't just ignore your customers and post things last minute, expecting everyone to just magically know what's going on. The fact they don't answer their phones, don't update their information properly, and then lie about it is beyond disrespectful. And for what? A $150 Valentine's ticket that you can't even be bothered to communicate properly about? No amount of good food can make up for this level of incompetence. It's disgraceful. Don't waste your time. If you want to eat at a place that treats customers like garbage, sure, go ahead. But as for me, I'll never be back. If you've seen this kind of nonsense at other places, you know exactly where this is headed--out of business, quick. So, good luck with that, "Royal Bar-and-Grill" and "Nick's Soul Food." My allergies are wheat gluten dairy and soy and I came here on the way back from taking the pretty route on a long way back. The waiter was really accommodating for a burger with my allergies and what little he had to work with they needed to get a lot of ingredients in. Really great burger at one of the tops from my travels. I know they are trying to focus on the food more than being a bar. I think if they did some trivia night it would be very helpful. read more

The "restaurant" more like a run down bar outside of the commercial district of the city, left a lot to be desired. The food offerings were scant and barely enough to pass the OLCC requirement to serve alcohol in an establishment. We had no intention of coming in, though we were gifted a gift card. Upon going to pay, the cashier/server told us we couldn't pay with that because it was issued under different owners. What a display of lack of integrity in the new owners management. We don't recommend coming here, there's a lot better places to spend your money (and if you have a gift card don't bother). Ordered fish and onion rings on line; arrived to find the kitchen didn't have the order; the reason given: the owner isn't here and all online orders go through him. So I sat and waited for over 20 minutes for the order to be prepared. They weren't busy at all - not sure why it took so long. Got it home and found they hadn't included lemon or tartar sauce. Fish was ok, breading wasn't very good; onion rings were average. Doubtful that I'll give this place another try. read more

They have Bingo on Tuesdays. What a great idea! It's not your normal boring bingo where they call out numbers and you sit in silence waiting for the next number. It's fun bingo! instead of numbers it's based on music trivia. Everyone is eating, drinking and socializing while playing. Great prizes and currently you don't even have to pay for your bingo cards! They even welcome kids to play. It's an upbeat atmosphere and great way to meet new people or spend time with family and friends. The food is fresh and the drinks are good. The atmosphere is one in which people are just randomly singing out loud when they hear a song that has some meaning or memory for them, or one that just makes you want to dance. Calling all big backs and food lovers alike. This is not a drill. Speaking as someone born and raised in the south, this is some of the best Cajun soul food I've ever had. The flavors hit, the beer selection is amazing! Do yourself and your tastebuds a favor and head over to The Royal for something delicious. (The salad I had was either the Suncoast or Sunshine, and it had white figs, blue cheese, toasted almonds, and I added blackened shrimp. This was incredible and I will order it again. 10/10. I came there today ,my first time, there were two men in the bar. I went in at noon the door was unlocked and the bartender and his friend I assumewere talking. They never acknowledged me didn't say hi may I help you not a word from either of them I stood looking and I know they saw me. I have been in the bar and restaurant buzz for all my life. I was so excited for the Royal to come there. They were smart to put a bar in next to the college but they definitely missed a sale today. I was very disappointed i don't know hardly anything about Indian food and I went in expecting to get I formed and what to order and such. I go for pizza there all the time. I live right down the street and it would have been great to have a close nice place to go. If you learn nothing else about you place learn that whe. You have a potential paying. CUstomer do not ignore them. You lost a potential new customer and money in the til Not a way to make a business work. I will tell anyone that will listen about my experience today. Word gets out. We went to eat at the Royal Bar and Grill today for the lst time. We had Indian food and it was delicious! Chicken Saag and Chicken Curry. Aman is very helpful and asked how spicy we wanted our food.
