The fried shrimp was old, the chicken chow mein was awful. Only had bean sprouts and a little bit of chicken. The chow mein noodles were stale, the mar far chicken was tough. Usually the food is pretty good when we get it to go. Good kung pao chicken and ginger beef. The BBQ pork was really dry and they didn't give any sauce. Tried the pork chow mein and it was not good. Instead of ground pork or pieces of pork, they used what looked like cut up sausage links. That made it look and taste horrible. The veges were crisp so I ate vegetable chow mein. The pot stickers had really thick skins and I didn't care for them at all. I would say it's hit or miss but since I only came for the food, I won't miss going here anymore. read more

I like this little bar, a few months ago we ordered the chicken low mien. Its great food. but the other day was craving it again, so my sister and I placed to orders of chicken low mien. So this place is obviously a secret spot known but unknown. As I'm sure it's learned by word of mouth let me join the chorus of appreciation. Now you have to be in a mood for the older bar scene if you decide to eat or drink there (which the drinks are worth it if looking for strength) but I've gone and will go again so don't think this is negative input. The portions for the Chinese are the largest I have ever gotten in recent memory. Good spring rolls too. Chef/cook is all about volume- which my family appreciated. funky tavern in Albany. Was 0/2 on finding open bar, we attempted Eagles Lodge and the American Legion. I was very thirsty and typed in Tavern on my iPHONE. So, here we go, just four minutes away. Parking lot was generous but filling up. Entered dark bar and door handle was something from a dairy farm. Greeted quickly, by owner/barkeep. Swift with service - couple folks scattered masked up as needed. I ordered a Lagunitas IPA, my Dad a Budlight, beer tasted fresh. Washroom was fine, too. There was plenty of room though, part of the tavern was not in use - pool tables and chairs sort of shuv'd to the side. Poker machines in use and cleaned after patron was done. This place is a great option for to go Chinese in Albany. Resembles a dive red neck bar from outside, but the food will surprise you. Prices are reasonable with a daily lunch entree for only $6 every day all day. Nice staff and thankful for the business. These days I try to avoid poor quality, service or even bad attitude. I think you have to understand that this place is a dive bar and review accordingly. If you're looking for a fancy cocktails and extensive beer list and chichi appetizers this is not the place. If you're looking for a decent liquor mixed with a mixer that comes out of a bargain or a healthy selection of beer on tap and in cans and bottles offer a rock-bottom prices along with some great food specials this is the place. They have a wide menu of typical barfood deep-fried grilled etc. and it's all delicious. But I encourage you to try the Chinese especially Tuesday through Sunday when the regular cook is cooking. It is the best Chinese food in town and there is always a five dollar Chinese food special. Laurie and Megan the two Night Shift bartenders both know what they are doing. Not sure what you should have they can make some recommendations. Wow the cocktail list is not long they do do a great job of nailing the classics. I am especially fond of the margaritas that they make from scratch no mix and a little bit different every time but always delicious. You should also try an oatmeal cookie shot made with fireball instead of Jager Meister. I am really conflicted as I write this review because it is my go to neighborhood bar and I love how uncrowded it is unless it's a pool night. Two or three drinks and whatever the special is and you'll be challenged to break a $20 bill while leaving a decent tip. read more

You know your stepping into 3rd world low life class establishment when the front door has an old time milk container cap as a door handle, "and a bag on a rope weighted door closer," Awesome! Your have the feel that you could get rolled here, but that's just the feel. Staff are so welcoming and friendly, and so are the regulars belly up at the bar. Now, the real clencher, they have the best Chinese food in Albany hands down, and at great prices! Drinks are fairly reasonable to boot! A dive bar yet not all totally gross and dirty. Nice open feel to the place. I am not going to lie I came here for the cheap Chinese food. And you know what it was prob one the beat cheap eats I have ever had!! So moving on as my food was to go. The kitchen is pretty slow so call in your order a least 30 mints a head time. The bartender was nice. I had a beer and played the Video machine and won enough to pay for my beer and dinner and tip with like 4 bucks in my pocket. Great little dive bar that has some Great Chinese food at a great price I found this place while searching for a place to have a beer with a close walk on Yelp and it didn't have much for pictures and was labeled as a pool hall but is in fact a dive bar, I was told this place has been here a long time and I could tell after being her a few minutes, several people that were here are locals and the atmosphere is high spirit, I enjoyed just listening to some of the people interact with each other Now for the food, I ordered a burger after asking if they used frozen patties or real meat and I was told real meat they had either 1\4 pound or 1/2 pound and I got the half pound cheese burger with fries, I give the burger a 1 star itself because in fact all I got was a burger with two 1/4 pound patties with cheese and the only good part of it was the buns and veggies, as for the fries they were great and hot. While I waited for my food I seen the locals getting big plates of food so I asked and they serve Chinese food here cooked by a Chinese cook and I wish I had waited to order cause they were serving Chicken Lo Mein for $5 as there special for Tuesday and wow what a big plate of food for $5 I am definitely gonna come back here the next time I come to deliver a load here So I would have gave this place 5 stars if they used real Hamburger for their hamburgers other than that I say don't second guess coming here just stop by the beer is cold, the Chinese food is good read more

Don't expect your order to get placed when you call them. They are more then likely bullshitting with customers and completely blowing off the person on the phone. Ordered food at 410pm and she said 15 minutes... I show up at 430 and I tell her That I have a pick up order, as I watch her write it down on a food slip, and walk into the kitchen....then proceed to wait a full 20 minutes longer to receive my food that I won't be able to enjoy since calling early didn't save me any time on my work break to eat. My friends and I enjoy going to Ma's dairy Farm playing pool drinking beer the food is great however there is a certain waitress who who made us wait for an hour while she was walking around on the telephone before we could even get a beer then we ordered food and it took her another 30 minutes before she could take our food order and she never did bring us catch-up for our french fries. it's like she didn't want us to be there and we spent a good amount of money and she needs to be fired. She should not be working their. she acts like she's working in a dive. Mas dairy farm is not a dive but if she treats it like a dive then it feels like a dive she needs to be fired. I am no longer a patron of Ma's Dairy Farm. When the new owners took over this business it was a quiet place to enjoy food and beverage. I encouraged others as well and helped the business prosper. Louie is great in the kitchen, however Kelly cares only about the buck. Example: I pop in for a beer only (I usually eat too but not this time) at happy hour. I and my son are served and as usual I give Kelly my debit card, when she discovers we are not eating she has a ti-raid as to why I now have to "pay cash". I didn't have cash and she berated and badgered me until she finally ran my card. I left embarrassed and humiliated without drinking a swallow of the beer I was finally allowed to pay for. She lost a customer good customer over the $.50 charge to use my debit card. Kelly you should be ashamed! read more

Apparently the Ma's Dairy Farm was the very first thing I read to my mom going up so a couple decades later I decided I would check it out. Was pretty sure I knew what I was getting myself into by heading into what appeared to be a cowboy/redneck bar (not that I have any problem with that) wearing a lavender shirt, over priced pair of jeans and some Hugo Boss shoes. Well I was surprised. After walking up to the bar, grabbing a seat I was almost immediately asked what I wanted to drink, I order a Budweiser and had a pretty good conversation with the bartender about growing up not too far away and spending my summers working in the fields. My mil said Ma's had phenomenal Chinese food, so she took the family in the other night for dinner. Unfortunately, they do not sell Chinese food on Mondays and since it was a Monday we were out of luck. We sat down to have a pitcher and she ordered some chicken strips and fries. There are quite a few things on the menu, but the few things that interested me (mozz sticks in particular) they were all out of. Not sure how that happens. In addition to the food selection being disappointing someone was there cleaning the pool tables with very loud vacuum. We could barely hear each other at a small table... I will say that the overall resteraunt was a lot cleaner and brighter than one might expect from the outside. The staff were also super friendly and helpful, so 2 stars just for that!! I am an occasional visitor to Albany, living in SoCal normlly. I've been wanting to try out Ma's for a while now, and finally got the chance. I wasn't really sure what to expect, at first... looks kind of like a Mini-Mart from the outside. It turns out that Ma's is a great little neighborhood bar AND a fabulous Chinese & American restaurant. I'm eating some Chow Mein as I type this. The inside is about a half dozen well-kept pool tables in a large room with a bar at one end. The barstools are milk barrels with padded tops. I had several of their dark IPA's while I was waiting for my take-out order... very good. Food was reasonably priced, but the portions were HUGE... The only things Ma could change would be to add a steel-tip dartboard, and improve their signs out front to let people know about the pool tables, good food and (I forgot to say before) CHEAP happy hour ($1 PBR, etc...). I'll be back at Ma's everytime I'm in Albany. read more
