I have been going to Pallens…read moreAutomotive for probably 25 years or more, I ran an automotive parts store and serviced the Pallens shop and even his one son Michael worked for me. I have two vehicles, my 2012 Chevy Silverado 4x4 and my wife's 2013 Ford escape AWD. My wife's car had a check engine light and a low tire pressure light come on the dash. I've told Tom, Steven, Victor and all of the other mechanics to never put cheap or one year warranty parts on any of my vehicles and from day one I've never complained about a repair bill. Now after calling and telling Steven that the code was 051, a crank case pressure sensor. Steven called and told me to bring the car into the shop Friday at 9:30am and he'll check it out. Now every time I deal with Steven he tells me that he'll check it out and call me but that never happens and we're without a car for two to three days and when I call he tells me oh I gotta check this or I gotta check that when in reality he's blowing smoke up my butt. Well the truth came out that Friday. When my wife dropped off her car she asked when can I pick up my car, now remember Steven told me 9:30am, well it was 8:30am. My wife was to told she could pick up her car at 4:00pm. I picked up my wife at her job in Elyria at 3:55pm and drove straight to Pallens and I'm sitting in the parking lot waiting. Finally she comes out and I asked what's going on and she tells me that the young mechanic just ran out to the parking lot and pulled her car into the garage and changed the sensor. She paid the bill and we leave, driving home on broadway my wife calls me and and says that the check engine light and tire pressure light is still on. I told her to turn around and go back. She's told that Steven will get the sensor from the Ford dealership and she asked about the tire pressure sensor and was told she has to make an appointment even though they stock those sensors. This proved to me that Steven was peeing on my foot and trying to tell me that it's raining. You cannot believe anything Steven tells you. When a man's words ring empty (Stay away) I've had repair bills of $2000 sometimes more and I never complained about any one of them but when you show me that patronizing, your business means nothing that I take my money and spend it elsewhere. Thank you Stephen you save me some money you can blow smoke up somebody else else's you'll never do it to me again.

As a woman, I also like that I was treated with respect and not like I am clueless. They took care of my AC issue with my car quickly and did good work. They have a small waiting room if you're going to wait while they work. It's nothing fancy, but its clean, with a TV and toys. They cited that their shop has been sued multiple times in the past Which makes me wonder what they have done to be sued so many times that they had to create a policy. The gentleman behind the desk and one of the mechanics suggested that I lie in the future about having done any work on my car so they are actually promoting lying and dishonest acts Which further makes me worry about and wonder about their integrity and adds Creedence to the fact that they have been sued multiple times. I would highly recommend trying somewhere else and not doing any business with this place. My father and brother were mechanics and I grew up around a garage and it is worrisome and unethical to turn down work out of fear of being sued again. There are plenty of other garages in the area. Most importantly, they always gave us honest advice about what made the most sense to do for the car, given its age and condition. No upselling with questionable value! Now we are getting outstanding service for our Subaru. Yes, it is a small shop so we need to book appointments ahead, but the level of care and expertise we get make it absolutely worth it. We really appreciate their use of technology to communicate with their clients, including photos to confirm any work that they recommend, and the ability to accept/approve or decline items online. No playing phone tag to get an update on your car - thereby postponing the completion of work. Staff is knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. Definitely 5-star all around!
