I discovered this gem after visiting the New York aquarium. They make the best grilled shrimp and basa fish. Definitely worth a try!

My go-to choices are shrimp cocktail, fried shrimp, oysters, fried soft-shell crab, stuffed crab shells, sushi, and sometimes hibachi. I wash it all down with sparkling water with lemon (it's listed as soda water on the menu). And YES, I get EVERYTHING I just listed--don't judge me! LOL. They also have plenty of other options besides seafood, so there's something for everyone. The ambiance is casual, laid-back, and clean. This spot is always busy, especially on a Friday night, but the food keeps coming out. There's plenty of room to dine, and it's also a good place for groups. My only complaint is the waitstaff. Unfortunately, they haven't been very friendly during my visits. I've given this spot several tries, and so far, even asking for your choice of beverage sometimes feels like you're bothering them. I'm not sure if they're tired, overwhelmed, or what the deal is--but I'm really trying to hang in there for my seafood! On the positive side, the host at the door always greets you with a smile and pleasantly takes you to your table. I'll definitely be back because the seafood keeps calling my name. I'm just hoping my next visit is as people-friendly as it is food-friendly!

Flatlands Buffet - Oh, I snapped a pic of a few desserts we took to go. They were tasty. The round sugar roll is my absolute fave though!

We ended up at our neighborhood buffet, which has been around since my high school days. There's something nostalgic about walking through those doors again. I'd fully planned to snap pics and do a proper foodie breakdown (charged my phone and everything!), but once we were seated, all bets were off. The food? Not five-star, but it's fresh--and that matters. The high customer turnover keeps the trays rotating constantly, so nothing ever feels like it's been sitting. The fruit station gets points for presentation--everything looked washed and vibrant (though I gave a few pieces the side-eye just in case ). For under $30, it hit the spot. Not a gourmet experience, but perfect for a low-key, satisfying outing. It's nice to have a go-to place that's stood the test of time, and still delivers on value.

An absolute pleasure!…read more The amount of choices left me in disbelief. Frog legs to stone crab... noodles to rice... beef to chicken. An absolute feast that is well worth the money. I can't wait to come back to fill up my belly again. Staff was 10/10 as they were bring out fresh food frequently so nobody had to wait for anything. Place is big and lots of seating. Parking lot is shared with other things such as the hotel and arcade so parking on the street and taking a walk may be best.

However, when we arrived, nobody was at the front counter, so we walked to the inside counter to ask to be seated. The front desk guy clearly just came in for his shift since he was hurrying on his cell phone, carrying bags and had his jacket on. He came over looking very busy and disheveled, and when my mom politely asked if we should wait here to be seated, he rudely responded, "Well if there's no one at that counter then you come to this counter if you see the sign." Meanwhile... there was no sign saying that when we left. My mom was just asking a simple question, so the attitude was unnecessary. Just because you're stressed or running late doesn't mean you take it out on customers. F him for being rude to my nice mom and never coming to this place again. As for the food, it was pretty mediocre overall, that experience left a bad taste. The sushi selection had a good variety, and the desserts were honestly the best part. They have a chocolate fondue station plus vanilla, matcha, and swirl soft serve ice cream machines. At least the place was clean. Also, the waitress gives you a parking discount before you leave, so don't forget to ask.

The drinks and ice cream/desserts also help yourself, plenty of wet wipes to clean up. But most importantly, the food was so fresh and incredible. I've never had actual live shrimp before and will admit was a little nervous when they started jumping around. The star of the show is the fresh crab, offering a luxurious taste without the hefty price tag. For a sashimi lover on a budget, the quality here is a pleasant surprise, rivaling that of more expensive sushi bars. It's a delightful experience to enjoy high-quality sashimi without the worry of overspending. Wrapping up the meal, the brown sugar grass jelly with peanut and mango dessert is a standout. It's rare to find such a sophisticated and satisfying dessert at an AYCE restaurant. This sweet finale is not just an afterthought but a testament to the restaurant's commitment to quality across the board. For a frugal foodie in NYC, this place is a gem, offering an experience that's both wallet-friendly and deliciously memorable

You can pick up to 2 broths so we had duck and short ribs which were both excellent with lots of herbs mixed in. Just a few of the great meat and seafood selections include Argentine shrimp, snow crab, and lobster. They also have live shrimp available so if you're squeamish I suggest skipping that one or asking for the dead ones. Durian fans, take note, they serve unlimited fruit here too as well as durian desserts. I enjoyed the different mochis but note they are filled with flavored whip cream, not bean paste or ice cream. Service was spot on - they took great care of us though I had to get up to refill cold water myself. Overall, really great experience and suggest coming with a native Mandarin speaker.
