I used to have a 5 star review for this place. This has gradually changed and now it's to the point of NEVER going back there again. This last Saturday (2/14/26) was the absolutely last time. I don't even know where to begin. Let's start with this: when we were seated, we were given plastic utensils and had to beg for regular metal forks. Granted, it was a busy day, being Valentine's Day, but it was their responsibility to prepare. The food lately is atrocious. Disgusting. Trays remain empty and do not get refilled in a timely manner. They used to have a grill where they did freshly grilled meats. Now they have some dumb Raman bar that no one ever uses. When we were there I didn't see anyone come up there. All food counters are perpetually dirty. They used to clean all the time. Now they just leave the mess people make and it's gross. We've been disgusted after each time we go to this buffet - nausea and diarrhea guaranteed from the horrible food. Never again! This time we went, there were no drinks in the fridge, it was empty, there were no grilled meats, and the ones there were cold and looked old, counters are nasty. This is a seafood buffet restaurant. My family and I went later in the day. I wasn't impressed with the selection. And it seems we went at the time of day that they were no longer refilling the stations. So they were many empty spots, or food that looked like it had been there for awhile, dried out and not fresh. No frills and thrills, just a Chinese buffet with decent food. I gave 4 stars because they were attentive and kept cleaning my plate quickly. Overall would go but nothing impressive for lunch. The jersey location was way better. The buffet selection was nearly 2-3x bigger. The quality of items were also better. Again at the buffet the only thing that caught my attention was the beef short ribs, roasted beef, cheesy mussels, shrimp, clams, and snow crabs. The roasted beef was new here and not at nj location, it was really good! The short ribs are great as always. Seafood was really meh. There were soooo many assortments of shrimp actually and the honey coconut shrimp was crispy yet juicy. The snow crabs were a huge miss as the crabs shells were way tougher at this location and I was unable to crack it with my bare hands like I was able to at the last location. The meats were also more stuck to the shell and smaller quantity. The dessert section was also very lacking as the ice cream were cheap and similar to the public school cafeteria ice cream I've had vs Jersey location had such a wide assortment of branded ice creams like Haagen Daz and the drinks here were ok but nj location had much wider assortment and better quality. The ramen was not great at either location though, this one had a funky smell and taste. I'd definitely recommend the other location over this one. This restaurant shows some potential. To be fair, I am not a major seafood enthusiast -- I'll eat crab legs and shrimp occasionally, but it is not my preference. That said, I appreciate that they offer pork belly, although I wish they would use less sugar in their soy-based sauce. The ribs are acceptable, though certainly not memorable. I would also love to see them add a simple duck dish -- preferably Peking duck, but even a basic roast duck would be a fantastic addition. The dining area itself is large, clean, and well-maintained. The staff is attentive about clearing plates promptly and consistently refilling drinks, which definitely adds to the overall experience. The sushi selection includes a decent variety of individual pieces and assorted rolls; however, none of the rolls are labeled, which is a serious oversight. Considering allergies and dietary preferences, clear labeling should be standard practice for all dishes. They also offer ramen and hot pot, though I did not try either. The dessert section is inconsistent. Their ice cream is disappointing -- just low-quality prepackaged cups. A soft-serve machine would be a significant upgrade. As for the cakes, it's a matter of luck: sometimes they taste extremely processed, while other times you might find a decent berry-flavored crepe cake, a decent tiramisu, or even an excellent chocolate cake. Unfortunately, those selections are unpredictable. One important note: weekday lunch is literally half the price of dinner or weekends. While the seafood selection is slightly smaller during lunch service, the price difference makes it a much better value. At $45 for dinner or weekends, however, there are better buffet options available, such as The Buffet in Queens or DJ International Buffet on Long Island. Came here for takeaway and was a bit disappointed at how big and heavy their container were. I didn't want much food and asked if they had a smaller one and they said no. Regardless, I was hungry so I used it anyway. When I got home I sampled a couple of the fried shrimp and immediately it tasted like it was fried in old oil. I was so turned off by the taste that I couldn't stomach the rest. It was a complete waste of money. Then to my shocking surprise, I weight the container with my food scale it it weight at 2.8 ounce, which means each container cost about $2.25 each. I visited this buffet on a Tuesday afternoon for lunch. I was immediately informed that I would be charged a service fee on top of the buffet price. I was assigned a table and my drink order was taken. After selecting some food options and returning to my assigned table I soon realized that I was being watched. Throughout my meal a female staff member stood directly in front of amy table and watched. Every time I looked at her she either smiled or looked away but she remained directly in front of me for most of my meal. It was the most awkward meal I ever had. I came with my laptop bag and I assume that she thought the bag was to stash food. But I took the laptop out to get some work done after I ate she still remained in front of my table. At one point I took out my phone take a picture and she immediately walked away but returned again once I put my phone away. I came for the cooked seafood and most of it was just ok. Came here on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't too packed. We did have to go up to the second level of parking because the ground floor was packed out. There was a decent amount of people yet the food wasn't being rotated quick enough. So the hot foods would sit there and end up being cold and crusty. The fried or battered items were too battery. You have to bite into 3 centimeters of super hard fried skin to get to the actual meat. Even with some of the sushi, you can tell it was sitting there for a while. Even if it was meant to be cold, the rice got hard over time. I also wish they labeled the items because I didn't really know what I was eating. They don't take reservations, but the two of us immediately got a table when we came on a Friday night at 7 (essentially peak dinner time). Not surprising since it's a huge location and they have a ton of seating areas at all corners of the restaurant. My favorites were the cold snow crab legs (juicier than the hot ones), cold snails, clams in black bean sauce, steamed abalone with garlic and vermicelli noodles, marinated yellowtail sashimi, and salmon nigiri. The specialty rolls were also top notch. And for dinner, you can get buttery lobster from the grill station (one at a time, good if a tad overcooked), along with grilled oysters (really tasty, wish I'd gotten more of these while supplies lasted). There's a two-hour seating limit, but that's a solid amount of time, even if you're as slow at cracking crab legs as I am. There's also a section dedicated to all sorts of unlimited beverages... possibly one of my favorite things here! I got a mango milk tea, peach yakult, and the classic Wong Lo Kat. Sure, they filled up my stomach, but I needed something to wash down the saltiness of all that shellfish. Dessert is skippable. There were decent fruit options like watermelon and kiwi, but none of the puddings, jellies, and cakes I tried were particularly good. I'd recommend saving more room for all the savory goods. The spacious in terms of the tables and chairs is very less. There is not enough space to get up from your chair if someone sit behind you. Even the booth is looks kind a tight. As you walk in there are two trees decorated for Chinese New Year. The price includes all you can eat and Hot pot, and free drinks which is included. I quite enjoyed this buffet. Immediately when walking in, you see their Asian drink selection and premium seafood offerings on display - I have NEVER seen an "open bar" at a buffet before so it was a novelty to me. You can fill up on drinks alone, but then you won't have any room for the sushi, oysters, shrimp, snow crab legs, and grilled lobster! They had excellent sushi selection. I've been to several sushi buffets where the trays are often empty and remain empty. Not here ~ they were constantly refilling the sushi stations so that you never had to wait too long. The sushi also tasted fresh and they also had sashimi options- which is much appreciated since you don't want to fill up on rice. I enjoyed the yellowtail sashimi and eel nigiri - they gave generous servings of the eel so you best not waste! They also had servings of tobiko and seaweed salad at their sushi bar. If you feel like working, they had snow crab legs, peel-and-eat shrimp, lobster claws, and crawfish along with clams and oysters. Another highlight was the grill station - get in line for the grilled lobster! They also had pork belly, galbi, duck, chicken wings, and roasted lamb. This buffet has something for everyone- pizza, Mac and cheese, french fries, fried rice, lo mein, general Tso's chicken, creamy coconut shrimp, potstickers, clam chowder, steamed fish, scallops, salad bar, even abalone and escargot! Most of the hot dishes were labeled, but I do wish the cold dishes (sushi and drinks) were clearly labeled. I wasn't as impressed with the dessert selection - nothing really caught my eye except for the ice cream - individual Hershey's ice cream cups (simple and delicious). They did have a big fresh fruit selection, including dragon fruit! (Sadly, the dragon fruit was out of season and not very sweet.) The standard oranges, grapes, honeydew, cantaloupe, and pineapple were also available. There was even a tray of kiwis but were later swapped out with watermelon. It's $40 per person for dinner/all day on weekends (cheaper for weekday lunches) - with unlimited soda/drinks. The staff was good about regularly clearing plates, but not as good at refilling sodas (though I suppose most people opt for the drink buffet). Note: they make it very clear that there is a 30% surcharge for excessive food/drink waste. There is a hot pot as well. We ordered the spicy broth, and it was tasty and spicy! The meat for the hotpot was delicious. There are fish balls and veggies in the refrigerator, which you can grab by yourself. The restaurant is very big but I'm sure it gets packed on weekends. Came accross on Tiktok been wanting to try and finally got a chance to try them today. We went here as three peoples. My brother is 11 years old but they counted him as an adult ($39.99) even though they said children under 5ft is $19.99 (what a scam my brother is 4'8) When we get seated they asked us what we like to drink and provided us what we asked for. From what I heard they got more selective varieties of food, but from what I've seen today they don't got much selections beside the sushi. In my opinion, some of the food doesn't suit my palate. However, the sushi is really good especially the white tuna one of my favorite, they also got plenty of american rolls, too. For the raw oysters I would definitely say they fresh. But for crab tails, they pretty salty. Their pineapple fried rice is wet (not quite to my taste) The mutton has a bit of a gamey flavor (we only tried once and we stopped) They also got sashimi, seafood, hotpot, ramen, drinks (boba, soda) and desert. When we tried the desert we didn't like any single of them. They were bland, missing that rich, satisfying sweetness. I tried their boba (orange green tea) but it didn't suit to my sweetness flavor. This is the second time my family and I went to Umi. We were seated quickly both times and our servers were attentive and quick. We loved it the first time we came here because the food was fresh and tasty. The drinks weren't overly sweet but hit the spot. The second trip changed our minds though. The sushi, desserts, and the drinks were still good the second visit but that can't be said about the rest of the food. This time: -The food towards the back was super greasy (we didn't expect the food not to be but there was enough for a pool to form on our plates. We immediately felt a little sick after the first plate) -The duck was dry, had a gamely taste, and somewhat smelled like wet cloth that's been left out. -The salmon was overcooked and dry (tasted like cardboard) -The sashimi was good but those in my party who had it had the runs and upset stomachs -The mussels were stiff and the sauce on them were crusted -The lamb was dry, super salty, and overcooked -Someone dropped a tong, picked it up, and put it back into the bowl of melon. My mom and I were smart about it though, and grabbed the lobster, a lot of crab legs, and the sashimi. Pro tip when going to a buffet- if you want your money's worth, save the carbs and drinks for later and get the expensive seafood first. They also had abalone, which was not bad, but they only put out like 12 every hour or so and I witnessed (stared down) an old lady calmly, and patiently loading up her plate with 10 abalone, leaving me and another lady one each.... Just thought that was a funny story to share. The grilled lobster was over cooked, rubbery, and was fairly small. Crab legs were okay, but I wish they gave us scissors instead because the shell was really soft. They also had lobster claws, but I also thought they were overcooked. Someone else said that it was as if they had defrosted these overnight/been sitting in a freezer and I agree. I definitely had better sashimi and was not very impressed with what I had here, except for the salmon sashimi - that was great, but was also gone in seconds. I would give 0 stars if I could. I strongly recommend staying away from this place. The selection of seafood and sushi was minimal. Whatever sushi and seafood they did have was extremely poor quality and not cleaned properly, making it impossible to eat. And I don't mean you had to peel it yourself - I mean it was dirty and not treated properly. They advertise hotpot but had little to no meat options and did not refill them.
