I began a mission to get a plate of llapingachos (mashed potatoes laced with cheese and topped with peanut sauce, a typical dish in the Cuenca/Azogues area of Ecuador.) Yelp did not fail me. I walked south and found this place just after some scaffolding. I sat down and was promptly given a menu. Llapingachos are usually eaten with fritada (fried pork) or hornado (roast pork, like pernil.) Them I saw guatita (tripe with peanut sauce) and was almost lead astray and said to myself, No, you came here for llapingachos and llapingachos you shall have. The menu had pictures and I even saw a plate pairing them with steak and eggs. It was a hard decision, but I went with that. The waitress brought out green sauce, called ají in Colombia (not sure what it's called in Ecuador.) my husband ordered the bandeja paisa, a Colombian dish. I waited in trepidation, as I was starving at this point. The food came and I was unsure what to go for first. The meat, the llapingachos, the fried eggs, the salad, or the rice. I gave each a turn.
