Great pizza and friendly staff with reasonable prices. You can't beat that! I'm so glad this place is under new ownership.

The food here is absolutely delicious! If you're looking for a happy hour that's actually worth it,…read morethis is the place. We ordered the wings, oysters, and the paella. Everything was excellent, but the paella was the star of the meal my wife couldn't put her fork down. The drinks were cold, refreshing, and paired perfectly with the food. The only downside was the service at the front. The host seemed a little unfriendly, which wasn't the best first impression. Thankfully, the manager stepped in, was very welcoming, and seated us in the back, which ended up being the perfect spot for a quick bite and a couple of drinks. Overall, the food and drinks definitely outweigh the small hiccup at the beginning. We'll definitely be back for happy hour again.

For 3 people we ordered: the calamari, a lobster roll, a potato side dish, a small vegan paella and a chuzo salad. The food was good but not great - the calamari was nothing special, the lobster roll was a little over salted with the fries not fried enough, the potato dish had texture and the toppings on it had spice + acid, the salad was simple but refreshing, and the finally the vegan paella was well seasoned, strong tomato flavor in the rice and the vegetables were nicely charred. The ambiance of the restaurant felt summery, it was a little humid with a slight wind that evening and they had all doors open allowing the breeze to flow through their space beautifully. The biggest let down was their service. For a weeknight at prime dinner hour and not a very crowded night, it took an hour for our food to come out from the kitchen. I noticed another party, who arrived after us, was served their food prior to us. I wished our waiter updated us on the food without my having to ask first.

However I usually forget that they also had food because there are so many options for Mexican food around here. This time around I decided to stop and try their food out. We started with the queso which was ok nothing special. For my main I ordered the mole enchiladas and I actually like it. My boyfriend order the steak but they were out of stock so he settle for the pernil. He claims to be a pernil connoisseur and wasn't happy with his pernil here. I had two margaritas one regular and one with mezcal and left feeling a little tipsy. I think this is just a place for drinks and snacks but the food was just ok for me.

They had a backyard area which I was surprised about but they made it look good. I ordered a French Bull dog and from the ingredients it looked like the only difference was instead of beer there was a small bottle of Hennessy, sounds awesome right. In my head and too so other places I've been to when you ask for a bulldog you get a nice big margarita glass with the bottle usually beer inside. Nope here they gave me a tiny glass with the cognac inside, no way you're calling that a bulldog and charging almost 20 for it. It was good but not justifiable at that size. I had this one drink and left. 3 stars maybe I'll try them again soon

Defeated, that only made me want Ecuadorian food even more. I began a mission to get a plate of llapingachos (mashed potatoes laced with cheese and topped with peanut sauce, a typical dish in the Cuenca/Azogues area of Ecuador.) Yelp did not fail me. I walked south and found this place just after some scaffolding. I sat down and was promptly given a menu. Llapingachos are usually eaten with fritada (fried pork) or hornado (roast pork, like pernil.) Them I saw guatita (tripe with peanut sauce) and was almost lead astray and said to myself, No, you came here for llapingachos and llapingachos you shall have. The menu had pictures and I even saw a plate pairing them with steak and eggs. It was a hard decision, but I went with that. The waitress brought out green sauce, called ají in Colombia (not sure what it's called in Ecuador.) my husband ordered the bandeja paisa, a Colombian dish. I waited in trepidation, as I was starving at this point. The food came and I was unsure what to go for first. The meat, the llapingachos, the fried eggs, the salad, or the rice. I gave each a turn. What I love about Ecuadorian cooking, is that there's often a variety of foods on one plate. I hadn't had this plate in ages, so this was a real treat. I wasn't feeling 100% today, so the meal was hearty, yet had nothing to upset my stomach. It turned out to be just the right thing for me. My husband enjoyed his meal, though it was a riff on the traditional plate. They left out the area yet added a few pieces of pork on the bone. He seemed to enjoy his meal. I'd go back. In fact, a personal obligation will require me to be back in the neighborhood in a few days and now I have a little spot to go to that I can trust. I might just try the guatita this time.

The mango smoothie was delicious. The land and sea platter was ok, the meats are well seasoned but it was a bit dry. Lamb stew was tasty. The chicken was very flavorful and moist. The empanadas was a bit oily and dry for me. I will definitely come back to try the smoothie and chicken again.

Apizza: Dyker Pizza Company is an artisanal pizzeria that opened in Brooklyn, New York in September…read more2023. It was founded by restaurateur Robert Cicero. His parents, John and Maria Cicero, founded the Original John's Deli in Brooklyn's Gravesend neighborhood in 1968. The Cicero Family created what has become known as the "best hero in Brooklyn!" Although location on the corner of 86th Street and Stillwell Avenue still stands, it is no longer owned by the Cicero Family. The family does own and operate two newer locations, dubbed "John's Deli Hero King" in Brooklyn's Dyker Heights neighborhood as well as Staten Island. After many years of working in the delis, the Cicero's son Robert began taking up the art of crafting exceptional pizza. When a location opened up down the street from John's Deli's Dyker Heights location, Robert seized the opportunity to turn it into his own artisanal pizzeria. I recently visited Dyker Pizza Company for lunch while I was cycling around NYC. I was trying out a number of Brooklyn breweries and pizzerias and this was my first stop of the day. I arrived just as they opened for the day. I told the employee that I'm from New Haven and asked if they pronounced 'apizza' the same way that we do in the Elm City: [ah-BEETS]. He confirmed that they did. It seems that from the late 19th century until around the 1950s or so, most Italian-Americans referred to pizza as "apizza" whether it was New Haven-style pizza or not. The employee explained to me that the pizza at Dyker Pizza Company is a hybrid between New Haven-style and the artisanal sourdough style that is becoming more common in NYC. Customers can order by-the-slice or whole pies. I was pretty hungry, and after looking over the menu I decided to order the "Pesto and Prosciutto" (ricotta cream, shredded mozzarella, basil pesto, prosciutto). The cheese was creamy, the pesto tasted fresh, and the crust had equal parts char and chew. This was really good pizza and I must give Dyker Pizza Company my seal of approval!

This was one of the best pizzas I've ever had anywhere and I've been to many that fall on those top pizza lists and this was better!!!!! I was expecting a regular Brooklyn slice (which is usually great at any Brooklyn pizzeria) but this blew me away. We ordered a mushroom pie. Made with sourdough, the crust was light and airy with just the right amount of charring. The mushrooms were fresh. Just pizza perfection. The Sicillian salad was perfect with olives and walnuts. Topped off with decaf cappuccino and a Tortoni. I can't wait to go back
